If PlayStation can continue discovering gems like Super Motherload, indies might really make the difference in this console war.

Super Motherload is simple enough so that anyone can pick it up and play, but complex enough for mining veterans to keep coming back to fully upgrade characters or even risk playing in hardcore mode. The sci-fi ’80s vibe is delightful and the perfect setting for this ridiculously addicting game.

Puzzles, strategy, multiplayer, a haunting atmosphere, and a fantastic soundtrack — Super Motherload packs a wealth of material into a small, though somewhat repetitive, package.

Super Motherload is a strangely addicting game that some players might dismiss due to the lack of depth in the title.

Once you upgrade one character you can finish the game in under 20 minutes on regular. There is no additional content to unlock. This game is worth $5 at most. If you haven't bought it yet, wait for a sale. I wasn't expecting great graphics. I knew I was buying a game that was not much more than a port from a 10 year old flash game. Full Review »
