With new characters, items, game modes and customisation options, the Mr. X Nightmare has made Streets Of Rage 4 feel like a brand new game again. Survival mode is one hell of a random trip that you'll be going another round at again and again. The new characters are exactly what you would want them to be, but the options for customising move sets and aesthetics mean that you can tailor your fighting preferences even further. The randomness in survival mode can be hard to take at times, but it's never swallowed without a smile. The Mr.X Nightmare is outstanding fun all the way, and the best sidescrolling brawler in town just got even better.

Mr. X Nightmare expansion pack is a treasure for Beat'em Up fans and will entertain for a long time.

Streets of Rage 4’s first proper DLC is a certifiable banger. The Survival mode alone is worth the asking price with its robust perk system that makes every survival attempt feel fresh, fun, and frantic.

The Mr. X Nightmare expansion reinforces Streets of Rage 4's staple position by correcting rare errors in the original game. It expands the base game's cast with three new heroes (including two dedicated primarily to beginners), adds a Training mode accessible to all and a new mode: Survival. This new proposal with high replayability comes with game mechanics inspired by roguelite, the bosses of the first opus, a brand new musical playlist that fits perfectly to the universe and new environments, even if we can regret a lack of variety on this side. But this is the only big problem with this first DLC. Despite this and to put it simply: Mr. X Nightmare perfectly complements the original work and it will please fans of the genre.

Mr. X Nightmare definitely adds a lot to the overall experience, but the Survival mode sadly lacks the much needed depth.

Mr. X Nightmare is simply more of the same good Streets of Rage 4 action, retaining everything both fun and mildly frustrating. There are aMr. X Nightmare is simply more of the same good Streets of Rage 4 action, retaining everything both fun and mildly frustrating. There are a few new characters (most of whom are brought back from the older ones) to play through the story with, as well as a new rogue-like survival mode to test how long you can last. If you didn't care for the base game the first time around, this probably wouldn't change your mind, but it's an easy recommendation for those who did. Expand
