Fantastic plot, the graphics are totally appropriate for the concept and even when the gameplay is very simple (sort of basic) is engaging. This game is underrated and is a MUST for all the fans of story adventure genre.

Oh boy it has been awhile since I played a really good character driven story adventure. Really enjoyed the cyberpunk setting with the amazing art style. Interesting story about the nature of love, existance, ethics, moral dileminas of man and A.I. Gameplay wise it is nothing really demanding. The unfolding story and character development is where the core experience is all at. If I hadOh boy it has been awhile since I played a really good character driven story adventure. If I had to nit pick the indroduction of one character Simon seemed a bit of a contrivence, but IRL pure random luck has indeed played a factor in my life, so. Expand

This game has a very evocative and thought-provoking narrative that is clouded a fair bit by some inane gameplay mechanics.

Some comparisons have been drawn with 'Detroit: Become Human', yet I think both games are different enough to warrant playing both. Obviously the graphics aren't pushing the PS4 to its limits. I even noticed some framerate issues! However the style makes sense

Obviously the graphics aren't pushing the PS4 to its limits. I even noticed some framerate issues! However the style makes sense and viewing the expansive cityscape through your window is a sight to behold.

I found the puzzles in the game to be annoying and a hindrance rather than entertaining. This game is heavily narrative-driven. It's essentially a walking simulator, which may irk some people who disagree.

My main gripe with the game is that it's actually a bit too long. By the closing chapters I was rushing through to see the ending and was certainly not inspired to replay, despite trophies requiring at least two playthroughs.

You'll know whether you like this before you buy it or not. Just make sure it's for a decent price.

Played it only because it was free on Gamepass. The cyberpunk world looks good but the blocky textures just look like super lazy anti-aliasing. Huge pacing issues. The story is ok tending towards good but at the end I remember I was just playing it to just finish it. Plays for about 8-10 hours

Utilizing thought-provoking puzzles and intuitive gameplay makes State of Mind a fun experience that keeps us hooked until the very end. With so much to look at and explore, the title does an excellent job of world-building and creating a fully realized society. It's a deep game with much lore that adds to the genre. Where State of Mind excels in providing excellent gameplay, visuals and plot hooks, it falters in being able to answer many of the questions that it poses. Depending on which ending players arrive at, you could be left asking, "Is that it?" Despite its flaws, however, State of Mind kept us hooked until the very end. If one can overlook the plot inconsistencies, State of Mind is a deep story about the "what-ifs" of humanity's future.

State of Mind is smart enough to borrow heavily from all kinds of other, better media, but nowhere near good enough to come close to putting a fresh spin on those ideas. You’d be better served taking the dozen hours this game expects of you, and putting them into some combination of Blade Runner, Heart of Darkness, The Matrix, and Deus Ex.

State of Mind offers a very good, "hard" sci-fi tale that deals with the theme of futurism, and, most importantly, consciousness. Some flaws do exist, like the many dull plot sections, and the simplistic, unimpressive puzzle-solving, but, as a whole, this will please most fans of narrative-driven adventure titles.
