Disney destroying the films, EA killing games. I want to see the brutal SW game, with a lot of kills, light swords battles, quick-time events, the possibility to play like sith not like Jedi. Cmon the main person of this game doesn't kill anybody in a duel, game from kids for kids.

Star Wars makes me want to stick a blaster to my dome. Have fun playing as kid anakin as he becomes one who looks like he has downs. A robot that’s a dog. With a compelling story of a junior Jedi and all the Jedi stuff that they never explain. The force is telling me right now 0/10

It's star wars, so even if it is a souls clone with cringeworthy platforming, I guess it should get a 10/10? Not sure. The battles are completely inconsistent, even when the same inputs are put in by the player. The framerate on base ps4 is laughable at times, the entire game stopping to to load some sequences. There are just so many times more issues than a normal soulslike that it is impossible to list everything. The pacing of the bonfires is all over the place, the checkpoints completely random at times before bosses, a big no no in a soulslike. Give me checkpoints or dont! Dont tease me! This is such wasted potential. So many little things that should have been ironed out. The main thing is, this game is just not fun, and it should be. The whole time I'm just wondering how the game's inconsistency will kill me and piss me off. Expand

This is a good game at it's core, but it's dragged down by an utterly arbitrary narrative, repetitive game-play, backtracking through explored areas to fill the time and the general sense of frustration that this COULD have been a great title.

Visuals are ok, music is ok, customisation options are great.

A very bad Star Wars Tomb Raider/Uncharted clone. The graphics are sputtery (at best) even on my 1080ti SLI machine. You spend a lot of time climbing, and it isn't any more fun than it was in the previously mentioned games. The controls are very clunky, both in and out of combat.

It is no wonder they put an embargo on reviews before release.

Junk control scheme. Games establishes mechanics and then can't follow them (e.g. unblockable attacks light up red, 10 minutes later a fight with tons of unblockable attacks that don't light up red). Platforming is contrived. Story is too short. I like this genre of game, and this is probably the worst AAA entry in the genre to date.

Overall graphics are under what we could expect from a 2019 released game - but still ok. Freeze here and there impair the immersion, but not a game breaker anyway (and we can cross fingers it could be solved by patches on the road).

Story is interesting (did finish the game) and will occupy around 30 hours of gameplay. No real endgame.

Overall disappointing - not a AAA, short lived (between 20 to 40 hours at max, then forget on the shelf), just a nice story on a Tomb Raider game with a Star Wars skin. Does not worth its actual rating from my point of view, objectively.

This game is extremely outdated for a AAA game released in late 2019. As I stated earlier, the physics and animations are PS2 quality. The graphics look like a PS4 launch title. The loading screens are long. This game lacks the level of detail that most AAA games this gen have. The developers were obviously too lazy and greedy to develop a true AAA game.

There is no mutliplayer. So once you beat the story, this game will go back to the shelf collecting dust. Charging $60 for a game with no replay value is a cashgrab. It's amazing how developers could just use buzzwords like "no microtransactions" and the consumers will just blindly praise the game. Microtransactions don't belong in singleplayer only games. I will not praise something that is expected in games. Praising SP only games with no microtransactions is like praising GTA games for having drivable vehicles. Uncharted 4 has microtransactions and multiplayer and it is superior to this trash game. I only recommend you pick this game up if it's $5 or less, or just wait until its on EA Access.

Maybe there is one connection to uncharted. Uncharted 1 - You do multiplatforming, then some enemies, then some puzzle -> repeat. But they forgot the atmosphere, better character and better story.

the story is simplistic which I don't mind. When going through the set open world it can be frustrating. the map can look confusing at times, leaving you not knowing where to go, or when revisiting. There's no fast travel, which can also be frustrating. when finishing a level you'd have to run all the way back to the ship.

Just wish the dexterity puzzles also had a difficulty slider like the combat does. Expand

Game has crashed about 3 or 4 times on my PS4 about 15 hours in. Poor level design, no fast travel, extremely tedious back and forth. Collectibles are very underwhelming. The story is good, not great. Plenty of glitches. Combat is extremely repetitive, I'm sure it works for some, not for me though. Would not recommend paying more than 20 dollars for this

This was a feeble attempt by EA to provide a single player game and that should be applauded .Nothing needed to be redefined from the force unleashed formulae that i had immense fun with .

    ***The Gameplay is CLunky!
Even once you master the movement and attacking and defense= it's still clunk or sluggish..
Maybe it's the mediocre animation in the attacks/movements i dunno.. This usually ISN'T a deal breaker and usually only cost a game score of 1 point give/take.

~~Setting= Well atleast they avoided the awful non-canon mdeiocre Disney sequel story..
THIS is the problem with Disney murdering the EU/Legends.. All the great heroes & villains o the books who would be great story pieces are not available.
~~The Seventh Sister/Brother is 100X worse in every way compared to the original Imperial Inquisitors or Dark SIde Acolytes.
These Dudes had fleshed out stories.
BTW~ Many of these stories/character are from years before EPisode 1-3 prequel era books..
They we're the popular young reader books of the 1990's that are still floating around out there..
*Check out "The Glove of Darth Vader" ~or~ "Kenobi's Lightsaber" " Lost City of the Jedi "
These books set the story of The Empire being alot darker and Sith like compared to the more modern Evil corporate dictatorship.

~Comparing this game to The Force Unleashed & Jedi Knight Games(Academy,,Outkast)
because they are both ARPG like adventure games w/ jumping etc.

Well The Force Unleashed is a tad more arcadey where Fallen Order tried to be more realsistic/Sim like...Well when you go realistic Sim it's ALWAYS ging to be less fun and clunky because they are removing the uber parts.. which is nonsense considering force sensitivity and a trained Jedi apprentice close to the trials at that.
ALSO,,TheForceUnleashed played around with a "what-if" story of what-if you had a Super super force powered Jedi who was born of TWO(not 1) Jedi parents.. This is something we never had before. esp since Jedi weren't allowed to father offspring and if they didn it wouldn't be with another Jedi.
~i Always thought Kenobi shoulda git with Asaj Ventriss!!

The positive is that its a single player Star Wars game and at times its pretty to look at, but that's it.
There are 2 overarching issues with this game, and if there was better play testing and quality control at EA this game would have been much better.
    1) The protagonist is awful. He's boring and utterly uninteresting; AND
    2) The combat. Holy Jesus f'n Christ the combat is atrocious. Its so badly optimized it renders the game unplayable. I am a veteran of the SoulsBorne games and Sekiro, and Respawn has blatantly plagiarized the gameplay and it is as clear as day they have no f'n clue what they are doing.
This game is such a shame, such a crying shame, they should have rebooted Force Unleashed and made a more action oriented game, instead of ripping off gameplay perfected by FromSoft.
Honorable mentions are the onerous, boring puzzles and shoddy platforming and traversal.
The bright side of this god-awful game is that it has intrinsically changed how I view video games. As soon as they start to suck, as this did in about the second level, I delete it, sell it and move on.

I liked what I played of this game- except one major thing. When you lose all your health you go clear back to the beginning of a large level. Did this twice on me- last time when I was just about through the level. I threw my controller and deleted the game. The gameplay itself is pretty good- action/adventure- kind of like Uncharted. I just hated the dying mechanic. Wouldn't really recommend.

I was certain this would end up one of my top favorites and was even excited with the sequel being released in a month or so, but sadly... things didn't work out, and that's due to absolutely idiotic controls that are unable to handle the overly challenging terrain. Bosses-wise the game is not hard, it's very entertaining on the contrary, but it's overly arduous when it comes to wall running, double-jumping, rope climbing with the ambiguous controls the game offers. Mostly the problem is you don't have a clear control over jumping/double-jumping, whereas you have to overcome climbing challenges that consist of cascades of the aforementioned techniques, and, sadly, most of the time you masterfully perform some perfect set of moves just to go to waste with the final jump that you fail, not because you're a bad gamer, but because you're not fully confident how the Goddamned jump works here. Whoever were responsible for this part should be immediately fired as they completely ruined my experience with Jedi: Fallen order.

Before buying this game, do keep in mind, that for people who have acrophobia (fear of heights) this game will seem like the Sekiro of climbing games and a true nightmare. Sekiro I platinumed, but I refused to play by the idiotic control rules set by this game's developers.

Again - very good story and level design completely undermined by the horrid controls.

If you decided to go for a platinum, be prepared for pulling your hair out.

The game misses the Indicator Bar, so you don't know where to go, every games has it, but this game misses it, you need to go into the menu, and then check the point where you have to go, but in different levels, with the indicator map would be an enjoyable game, otherwise I didn't finish it.

The combat is an absolute joke. Taking on more than one enemy at a time is a complete nightmare! By the time I was done with the third planet, I had enough of this turd. The boss fights on any difficulty above normal are so insanely unbalanced. Sometimes the dodge doesn't work at all and your stupid robot friend doesn't heal you when you press the corresponding button. The animation also takes far too long when you're desperately trying to survive. On top of all of this, the game just has you randomly doing chores on each planet with far too much backtracking.

It starts off strong, then loses itself in the monotonous and frustrating game until pretty much racing at break neck speeds at the end. But since this is a game and not a movie, this doesn't come close to making up for the rest of this train wreck.
The game is generally boring with ridiculously easy obstacle courses, puzzles and upgrades that you're usually given without much ceremony or reason other than now it's time. Then you travel between the same 4 or 5 planets (i was so checked out for most of it, i just finished and don't even remember) retracing your steps to access small new areas with those new abilities. Most of the game just feels like they were to lazy to come up with anything to do, so this was their way of stretching out the time. If you're a completionist like me it works, because it made the game a lot longer than it actually is.
The worst part in all of this is the combat, it's awful. Just frustrating, clunky, kind of boring, and bad. So, so, so bad. The only thing that will stick with me is the annoying asf target lock, and the garbage game camera. There's no feeling of being a jedi, no cool abilities, it feels like they just did the most basic things. When you fight groups you can only focus on one, or not lock on and fight more against the camera than the enemies. But if you lock on you can only attack that enemy, and switching between enemies frequently doesn't work. The blocking of enemies and lack of attack options means that there is no flow of combat, you end up just randomly dodging and jumping around waiting for your openings. Fights against one opponent can be fun, but it's not enough. Especially the issues with the game camera ruin it. It is challenging, but more the challenge for the "git good" gamer culture. With the challenge stemming from awful game mechanics.
The load times are unacceptable, the traversal is slow and has no real flow to it. Tons of graphics glitches or models not loading properly. This is a complete failure of a game.
I love star wars, and this kind of scratched an itch. Like a drug addict that's nearing rock bottom and wondering what I'm doing with my life, and why i keep wasting my time with something i don't enjoy.

The landscapes are visually stunning. I'm no graphics nerd but I like what I like. And there will be plenty of times you stop to take in the scenery. Not the worst. But poor. At first the controls feel clunky and you think, I'll grow out of this and it will become better but it never really does. Whenever you have to swing from a vine it feels weird and hard to line up. Oh are we making vine swinging "more realistic" now? If I want realism I will go outside. The combat always feels clunky. Even with a database of how to beat everything after you've beaten it once you will still find yourself not able to smoothly crush your foes even when achievement hunting at the end. All in all this could have been a stellar game injecting life into the declining IP that is Star Wars. And it has some shining great moments. But all in all it was dragged down by the laziness of the design. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In a time where the star wars scene needed a desperate glimmer of hope. Jedi fallen order falls short.

A lot of people haled this as a good souls like game. In my experience, anything compared to dark souls, that is not from software, falls way short. And that is no different with this game. Attacks are poorly choreographed. enemies are too large in number for most encounters. (Played the last level on story mode because I just wasnt having enough fun to accept the challenge) The god forsaken uncharted pathfinding is abysmal. And navigating the map is a nightmare headache. The story ends poorly. But at least Vader is a bad ass.

I did enjoy seeing a mixture of lovable prequel and original trilogy assets. If it was more fun to play, I think it would have been an amazing game. Hopefully the gameplay feels better next time. But theyll probably have to sell that one to me with a console also.

Who will win? One trained Jedi with a light saber and a wide variety of Force powers or four stormy bois with electric purple potato peelers?

Playing Fallen Order after Sekiro or Bloodborne is like trying to drive an 18-wheeler after driving a high-performance sports car. Combat in Souls-like games need tight, precise, responsive combat, but in Jedi Fallen Order, it's slow and sluggish.

Playing Fallen Order after Sekiro or Bloodborne is like trying to drive an 18-wheeler after driving a high-performance sports car. Combat in Souls-like games need tight, precise, responsive combat, but in Jedi Fallen Order, it's slow and sluggish. Every action has a delay before you see it on screen and then a cooldown before you can make another action. While most Souls-like games treat blocking and parrying as variations of the same action, they feel like separate prompts in Fallen Order. A block is only 100% successful before an enemy attack; a block during an enemy attack but before the parry window most likely leads to taking damage. You cannot interrupt your own actions to block, parry, or dodge and there are no invulnerability windows (as far as I'm aware). This leaves you vulnerable to multiple enemies. It also leaves you vulnerable if you accidentally interact with environmental objects. You are easily staggered while enemies are only staggered when their stamina is depleted and only for one hit. This means a missed block, parry, or dodge of the first hit of a combo will likely kill you. Remember that every action has both a delay and an internal cooldown! Combined, this means four stormtroopers with the aforementioned purple potato peelers are frequently more dangerous than boss fights. There are crowd control Force powers late in the skill tree, but, again, THERE ARE DELAYS AND COOLDOWNS WITH EVERY ACTION. Trying to Force slow or push a group of stormtroopers leaves you wide open to attack -- again -- meaning crowd control Force powers are easy to interrupt and they frequently don't work even if you complete the action.

Overall game design feels terrible. Souls-like games expect you to die a lot, so dying should be part of the experience, but . . . Loading screens are interminable. There's no fast travel and a lot of backtracking. Meanwhile many areas only funnel one way and don't allow backtracking. This means if you go the wrong way, you will be going the wrong way for a long time. And there are many long, narrow, claustrophobic, non-interactive corridors which take forever to traverse. All of which make dying a chore rather than a part of the experience. And you can't reset your skill tree. Which means if you've taken no crowd control skills and end up in an arena with waves of multiple enemies . . . Well, you're SOL.

Also, platforming with the frequency of Fallen Order doesn't mix with the combat-focus of Souls-likes. It feels like I'm playing two separate games awkwardly smushed together, and neither one feels particularly fun.

The story seemed great from what I'd gotten through (Dathomir) before giving up, and the graphics are mostly great although occasionally muddy. The voice acting seems top notch, save the guy playing Cal Kestis who sounds like he's reading off of cue cards for a good chunk of the game. The actors who play the Second Sister and Cere are particularly good. Level design and enemy design are mostly repetitive and uninspiring. Character design was also fantastic, but Cal's Jedi master looked like a cartoon character out of The Clone Wars, which was a puzzling decision. There were some inventive moments that blew my mind, but they were too infrequent.

You cannot make a Souls-like game with combat this clunky and imprecise. One of the most disappointing games I've played, especially considering the overall favorable reviews.

Do you like responsive combat and open worlds? How about creative paths that utilize parkour in fun, smooth, and nonrepetitive ways? Boy, I hope not! This game has none of it. I've had several moments where enemies are stuck "T" posing or after being hit by "force slow" show they don't actually have a turning animation. Your character attacks very slow and can't interrupt his attacks to block which might make sense if he were wielding a greatsword... except it's a weightless lightsaber. Expand

The animation is terrible. Rigging is terrible. All I see of the main character is his immovable upper lip. Grauf's dangling lips don't move. The QTEs are endless. You can't interact with any NPCs that aren't related to the gameplay (i.e. random people are basically walls), and the level design is embarrassingly bad. Overall I'll give it a generous 4/10 but it's so depressingly mediocre. The animation is terrible. Rigging is terrible. All I see of the main character is his immovable upper lip. The gameplay and combat is worse than games 15 years older than it. The combat is unsatisfying, the platforming is horrendously imprecise, and the graphics are meh. They half-assed this game. Camera mechanics are awful, the lock on system only works half the time. They somehow messed up walking in this game.
Playing as a Jedi should feel fluid and powerful, well not in this game. Huge

If you get over a slower start without powers, we can assure you, that it will only get better and better. An entertaining mix of Uncharted, Tomb Raider and Dark Souls set in the Star Wars universe. You don’t have to worry; the game is worth its full price. [Issue#300]

As someone with limited time to play games, the shame of Fallen Order stems from multiple frustrations. It’s hard to fight and, worse, it’s hard to move. The game’s timing issues distracted me from both the story and the beautifully constructed worlds; I was too focused on simply staying alive. My many (many, many, many) deaths discouraged me from exploring worlds — all of them beautiful — as did the simple fact that traveling by foot (even a Jedi’s Force-enhanced feet) takes forever.

Respawn has shown us, and EA, that single player games are well enough alive and kicking and has set a bright future for the Star Wars franchise of videogames if they keep this up.
