Shadow is my favorite character, and this is an interesting backstory. The problem is...it's only 3 levels long. Yes it was free, and it gives you access to using Shadow in some Sonic levels, but overall, like with Sonic Forces itself, I was expecting a bit better.

A free DLC that marks the return of Shadow as a playable character in the mainline series since Sonic '06. It offers three new stages, a prequel story that offers more insight into Forces' new villain, and the option to play as Shadow in the modern Sonic stages of the main game. It offers three new stages, a prequel story that offers more insight into Forces' new villain, and the option to play as Shadow in the modern Sonic stages of the main game. The new stages themselves are over in a jiffy and aren't as well designed as the ones in the main campaign, but they have their own quirks and offer just a little bit more Forces content. They even have their own, more Shadow appropriate soundtracks. There's not a lot in this DLC, but the fact that it's free kind of makes up for it.

The thing that really stands out here is the story. It fleshed out Infinite more as a character. His origin story makes him a little more interesting and brings up the question of why none of this stuff was brought up in the full game. The DLC makes the new villain just a little bit more than a bland face. So if you're a fan of Forces you might want to check this out, especially if you exhausted all of the content already on the disc. It's practically a must for Shadow fans just to have another chance to play as him. Who knows when we'll get to do that again.

This dlc is better than the base game but just a simple three levels of more of the same. It gives good backstory to infinite but unless you are super into the lore this game isn’t for you.

Sonic forces episode shadow (giving me sonic 4 flashbacks) anyway Sonic forces DLC allows you to play as shadow which sounds hype but unfortunately it's way too short to even recommend it, only 3 levels... meaning you could complete this DLC in about 20 minutes. Though the 3 levels are very uninteresting and parts of it feel like I'm playing the levels from story mode only a bit different and with edgy the hedgy, they are still linear and not very replayable after getting the red rings, numbers and moons. The only positive thing about this are the remixes of white jungle, biolizard, and westopolis that I believe any fan of SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog can enjoy. Expand

Really!? 3 levels too short, a painful level design and a kind of prequel that doesn't say anything!? This is about to be, and it doesn't have to exist!
