Apr 10, 2017A puzzle-platform in which you can’t jump might seem like an odd idea but Snake Pass reveals itself as a great game despite some rough edges and a sometimes ruthless difficulty.
-
Apr 4, 2017A very unusual way of controlling the hero, overall high quality and well designed levels make Snake Pass a very pleasant game. It won't become a legend, it won't spark a revolution in the platformer genre but it will be a joy to play for everyone that tries it.

Apr 3, 2017Snake Pass is a fascinating take on the 3D platforming genre. It features conventional progression and collectables with a non-conventional control scheme that seeks to test your mettle and dexterity. The game takes a step away from Indie-brand self-reference and expositional stories to present a unique gaming experience that feels incredibly rewarding to master. We can only hope for more, as this tale of Noodle and Doodle is heaped with oodles of charm.
-
Mar 31, 2017Control difficulties aside, Snake Pass is one of the most unique games I’ve played in a long time and can be incredibly rewarding. Successfully slithering and curling around bamboo and other obstacles feels really great and makes traversing the world a lot of fun. There are absolutely moments of frustration, but not enough to overshadow what is otherwise a really unique and fun adventure.
-
Mar 31, 2017Snake Pass is held back from greatness by a troublesome camera and poor textures, but it is quite charming and innovates with its snake gameplay, which still has tons of untapped potential. I can’t wait to see what Noodle and Doodle get themselves into next, as Snake Pass’s mechanics can only be fleshed out even more from here.
-
Mar 30, 2017Aside from some niggling pitfalls – many of which will be mitigated or exacerbated by your level of patience – Snake Pass is a success; a delightful throwback to the classic puzzle platformer of yonder that levels a keen eye on trying to expand modern control sensibility.
-
Mar 30, 2017Snake Pass is quite interesting title, fun and well designed. It has a strange control system, but that's part of its fun, and although it's not very long, it's priced accordingly.
-
Apr 8, 2017Snake Pass is a fun and original gameplay experiment that works well to offer us a good and charming exploration game.
-
Apr 10, 2017Snake Pass will require some patience in the beginning, but then it opens up as a platformer that offers smooth controls, innovative levels and colorful graphics.
-
Apr 5, 2017It's been a while since we lost our temper with a videogame. The peculiar control system and the physics that rule the movement of a snake are at the same time the good and the bad of Snake Pass. Despite its cheerful appearances and the good level design, the game is difficult, and not always in a good way.
-
Apr 8, 2017If anything, Snake Pass hinges on a neat little idea that's been executed in a flawed and therefor frustrating way.
-
Apr 6, 2017A snaking videogame full of platforms and puzzles that brings another fresh touch to the independent scenario. A relaxing, charming and challenging experience with Noodles, one of the few snakes you don't have to fear.
-
Apr 4, 2017As you’d expect, the PC and PS4 Pro versions are the best looking versions of Snake Pass, with options for higher display resolutions and better lighting.
-
Mar 29, 2017Under the surface, and besides its outdated graphics, you'll discover a great puzzle platformer.
-
Mar 29, 2017Snake Pass is a deceptively difficult game that's perfect for gamers who crave challenging new experiences. It may have an ultimately frustrating and unvaried campaign but what's here is still promising and definitely worth checking out.

Playstation Official Magazine UKJun 14, 2017A fiddly one to get to grips with, stick with Snake Pass and everything will eventually click. When it does, it's a decent platformer that should raise a smile or two. [June 2017, p.82]
-
Edge MagazineApr 27, 2017With a much better camera and less of a fondness for gratuitously fussy challenges - and a tendency not to combine the two - this could have been a minor classic. [June 2017, p.96]
-
Apr 17, 2017Snake Pass lets you play as snake in a colored but uncompromising 3D world where you need to slither, climb and be curious. Despite its childish and lovely graphics, the game feels demanding and the camera system will make you mad, so buy it only if you are patient.
-
Apr 6, 2017Snake Pass reminds us of the Nintendo 64 era of three dimensional platformers, but with a unique gameplay twist. The game is original, super upbeat and fun to play, but it could have been much more.
-
Apr 5, 2017While Snake Pass looks and sounds like a 3D platformer of old, the ‘think like a snake’ idea that the gameplay is built around makes it a game that will influence platformers of the future. The puzzle is the movement, and since that movement is so fun and engaging, it makes for enjoyable experience, even if the unreliable camera makes it more frustrating than it should be.
-
Apr 5, 2017Snake Pass delivers a fresh, challenging puzzle experience that unfortunately doesn't last too long.
-
Apr 4, 2017Snake Pass is a good game, but not one that we can recommend to everybody due to his particular controls. If you have patience, it's a unique take on the platformers genre but it could be more polished.
-
Mar 31, 2017At times, then, Snake Pass can be a wonderfully relaxing journey through some beautiful habitats. The late game switches into an engaging and challenging puzzler, requiring some deft flicks of the left stick, but one that can feel immensely gratifying when you elegantly slalom your way over a narrow assault course that's suspended over lava. It's the middle third, when the game expects too much of you far too soon, that causes the momentum to stutter. Nevertheless, Snake Pass is a quirky puzzler that innovates while simultaneously evoking memories of your favourite platformers of yesteryear--just don't expect to grow into your new skin overnight.
-
Mar 30, 2017A great concept with a perfect mix of retro modern gameplay and aesthetics, even if the idea never evolves to have real legs.
-
Mar 30, 2017For all of its flaws, Snake Pass represents an admirable attempt at blending the past and the present. Its anthropomorphic characters, jubilant worlds, and atmospheric soundtrack all scream of eras past, yet its movement system and excellent controls are things of the future. Those willing to slither past the checkpoint and camera issues will find an enjoyable and heartwarming nostalgic adventure. Snake Pass shall pass.
-
Mar 29, 2017The implementation of realistic snake physics is commendable, and may even be what snagged Snake Pass a green light in the first place, but it’s also what drags down what could have otherwise been a phenomenal platforming experience.
-
Games Master UKJun 20, 2017A unique and endearing game idea that isn't quite matched by the structure of its challenges or worlds. [June 2017, p.76]
-
Apr 3, 2017Snake Pass is a competent and boldly innovative take on the classic 3D platformer, but the game suffers from an overly fiddly control scheme that doesn’t match the inviting, pick-up-and-play fun of the genre.
-
games(TM)Jun 17, 2017Flawed execution and unrelenting difficulty. [Issue#187, p.78]
-
Apr 20, 2017Snake Pass tries something new, and to slither around with Noodle is fun to begin with. Sadly, the steep and weird difficulty and strange mechanics related to the controllers make for an experience that quickly gets bogged down in a sea of annoyance and tediousness.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaJul 7, 2017Put the time into it and get used to its unconventional controls and it’ll eventually wriggle its way into your heart. [July 2017, p72]
