This game has no sense of player matching, from pairing very low levels to the very high, so this'll mean during matches as a experienced player you'll come across players who'll instant lock and then proceed to play awfully crushing your chances of winning.
    Communication:
Whilst trying to team communicate with the team you'll be surprised with something special, no one speaks your language, ever tried to talk to a different native over the phone? It's exactly like that, but they're still throwing because they can't understand anything.
    Role Picking:
Enjoy a specific role? Well look further because you'll never get to play it! That's correct never, I've been playing smite for 3 years as said and the players you'll come across are selfish and only instant lock, meaning you have to try and build a team around them that'll stand, and hey bonus feature, they don't always play that role! (Meta: Player picks a role but plays them completely different to work an advantage) which never works.
    Final conclusion:
I enjoy the game when it's decent, you need to find friend who'll stick to a role or switch around now and then otherwise you will lose, if you play by yourself you'll be added to a game with groups (like joust, you + a group of two on a team) that'll let you die because you're not part of their friend group, and finally never expecting anything to go right because people on this game prove to be extremely stupid and have the common sense and mental thought of a child.

Sure You can enjoy this game, use of mythological creatures and gods was great idea, modes can be fun, but the gameplay in this one is not as polished as I was hoping it would be. And the biggest issue is, that I just feel that there are lots of better ways to spend my free time than playing this game - or any other MOBA for that matter. They are addictive timesinks with no rewards when You look back...Well maybe its just me and the fact I cant find excuses for spending time on MOBA. Expand

When I first played this game I didn't have high expectations, but after playing it a few times, it became one of my favourite games thanks to the different game modes and many different gods, which all play in different ways, which helps keep the game interesting.

Smite is an extremely well made MOBA game that works very well on console. The game is very similar to the PC version, but still different. Most people did not experience this game enough to know what it really is about. The first few games/ account levels you are you might have some trouble because not every player will know how this game exactly works. The way you play smite is similar to other mobas, in which you defend and attack lanes and towers, with a jungle between lanes (this is the main mode). The gods, godesses, and mythological creatures and deities are extremely interesting and usually the biggest reason why people are attracted to this game. With interesting lore (real lore) , new gods every month, and new patches every 2 weeks, you'll be hooked into it. Each god is different and there are many different playstyles (especially because of the items you can build). Although smite is completely FreeToPlay, there are cosmetic items that can make the game a bit more fun. Some are purchased with favor (earned through playing ) or gems (earned through login bonuses, gem events, and real money). There is an Ultimate God Pack that gets you every current and future god for $30, ($20 and even $15 in sales). Make sure to completely learn what to do in each game mode (especially conquest), because each player in the main mode (conquest) has roles to fulfill. Don't start playing randomly in that mode and don't start playing gods randomly without learning what items to use for the god (building) and how to play them. You start the game with five gods (Neith, Ymir, Thor, Ra, and Guan Yu) and 5 others that rotate each week. Smite is both casual and competitive (ranked). Smite is in eSports and has a world championship with a usual prize pool of 1 million dollars, as well. Oh and by the way, Hi-Rez is a REALLY good company. They are extremely fun (check out their videos on youtube) but really cares about their community. (just a few days ago they raised $60,000 for a pro-player turned caster.) They care about the happiness of the community as well (giving out free stuff or having a gem event if there was a server problem that affected all of the community.) Although their support team can sometimes be a hassle, they are a great and growing company never the less. Expand

I have downloaded Smite on PS4 because it's free and my friend referred me. As soon as i started playing it, i realised it's so much fun especially when playing with friends. I did not even know what to expect from this game when i was downloading it as it is my first MOBA but i have had my great moments to cherish from the game.

a innovative take on the classic moba
Champions have very recognizable stories due to them being based on the mythological gods

    Cons
No changes nerfs and buffs don't happen very often
    People always steal kills
hard to find good teams unless you are playing with friends
a number of op items and relics that might need changes most of the op items are with the mage class

Atleast give us a 3 strike program before getting a penalty. Another complaint is the game very laggy and unresponsive unless you have perfect wifi connection i have to turn off all other devices in the house just to play a decent game without lagging and the unresponsiveness is ridiculous i have to restart the application multiple times when starting just to claim my daily rewards just to load it including the quests takes 3 restarts or 20 mins waiting for it to respond resulting in getting a F***ing 30 min penalty bc the game is unresponsive so it doesn't accept the game when i click accept multiple times its very annpying and needs to be adjusted including the day long updates as well as the fact that everybody gets requeued if one player doesn't choose a god instead of just replacing that player with an awaiting player. other than all that when it is running smoothly its a very fun and educating game giving many gods acknowledgement in telling there stories but there are many gods / demigods missing that should be included such a Horus the son of RA ,definatly should be an alternative way to back out of a game without the whole team surrendering considering how long matches are there is no reason another player cannot replace the player leaving. ratve Expand

this game is actually really bad, the matchmaking sucks, once you get to ranked you have to master so many gods to even play. the stability of this game is the worst even, every game at least one person gets kicked out, instead of fixing it they focus on bringing out more gods. if this is the quality they can expect from Hi-rez it is bad.

Smite is ... not fun. I say this as someone that has a very rocky relationship with MOBAs in general, having only started to play League of Legends a few months ago. I heard that Smite was a good console MOBA, and all the Smite fans brag about it being much more fun, that the graphics are great, and the third person camera makes things exciting. So, naturally, I tried it out. Boy, are those people brain damaged.

First off, the MOBA aspect almost feels secondary to the Arena mode where you start at level 3 (having all of your basic abilities) and just brawl with other players. The whole defending turrets and killing minions stuff isn't even covered by the opening tutorial. You have to learn about that all on your own. Which I did by firing up a few training matches, just me vs the AI. In both games I played, my teammates, who are the same AI we're fighting against, died twice as much as I did leading to ridiculous enemy attacks. I didn't do well either, but the fact the GAME played worse than itself speaks volumes.

The second thing is that the game is terribly balanced compared to something like League. See, you defend these things that shoot enemies if they get close, and they're kinda like safe spaces. If the enemy decides to fight you while you're near one, they're almost guaranteed to lose unless they kill you very fast. In my two matches playing as a Warrior in the solo lane, my opponent would engage me under my turret, and lived for dozens of seconds. In my first match it was Odin, whose constant shielding prevented him from taking any damage ever. That's not fair. In no universe of MOBA should a character be able to stand on top of an objective and survive for half a minute and still have HP left to lane. This was with me and the turret attacking, mind you.

I could write this off as a one off issue, maybe Odin's too powerful in this current patch, I don't know. Games like these are always changing. What I do know is that at no point in my hour of playing did I have any kind of fun, which is what I had when I started League of Legends. League of Legends gives you a bunch of well placed items, "Take these first, then these, and maybe these." It's all laid out easy for you. In Smite I was spending minutes at the start of a match reading what items did what because the game just kinda throws this list at you without organizing it. You have a couple rows of items with "Core" and "Situational" over them. League? Starting items you take when the match starts, those go into the second tier, and then the final tier, with some extra ones below that. It was impossible to understand, and the way everything was displayed it took me literal minutes to sit there and read item descriptions and learn what did what. And to top it all off, I didn't find a way to see what they enemy had, so I never knew what the hell to build to counter them. In League you hold down Tab. In Smite on PS4... I have no idea, I tried every button that wasn't labeled, and even then, if I found it, there's no way scrolling through the entire enemy's gear is as fast with a controller as it would be with a mouse. Controllers are just no way to play MOBAs.

Finally, and most importantly, during the early lane phase, where you sit around and fight minions and try to get more gold than the enemy? Every melee champ I played was awkwardly floaty, sliding around as I attacked, meaning you started attacks and then moved into position most of the time. It felt weird and like I had much less control than I really did. It made the simple process of holding down R2 to swing repeated feel uneasy. And this comes from someone that's only barely gotten used to clicking four or five different things to attack them in a top down PC game. I've played more console games than PC, but somehow Smite just feels awkward and unfinished. Which really came into play with hitting things. In League there's a cacophony of sounds that accompany hitting things. I've never adjusted the volume. When I shoot it makes a loud noise, when I hit something there's a satisfying pop, when they die I hear coins clinking, and all of my abilities make good sounds to let me know I'm using them. Smite? I could hammer every button and not tell you if something came out or not because they're almost no sound, enemies just stand there and take damage without flinching, again, it feels unfinished compared to League, and Smite is like six years old now. It shouldn't feel THIS BAD to HIT THINGS. But it does, plain and simple.

Sorry for all the fans that think clicking is too much work and top down "cartoonish" graphics suck, but Smite fails to be engaging on the most basic level. Fricking Mario has better sounds when he hits a goomba than my character did hitting 8 guys with a hammer. That's a problem, people. Nothing was broken, but it wasn't fun.

On the whole I think Smite does a lot of things right. It is a good spin on the MOBA genre that caters to players with a preference for third person perspective, as well as gameplay largely based on skillshots. There are plenty of gods (the characters are gods of pantheons across the world) that are easy to pick up because of this, but it leaves a relatively high ceiling for most gods. Due to this I never feel out of options and there is always a character I want to play and improve on, even now the list is long. Like most MOBA games there is an item shop that takes time to learn properly and requires a lot of experimentation as well as research. The game has a variety of game modes, some more on the casual side and others on the more serious end (based generally on community opinion). Conquest is the main mode and is the typical 3 lane mode, and is considered the most serious mode (ranked and casual for each their category). This is the mode that gods and items are primarily balanced around. Balance in Smite has seen ups and downs, but the Smite team has been doing well these last few months. New characters are often too strong, but that is the point of new characters so the developers get plenty of data and engagement from the character. The reason I am not providing a higher score is that sometimes it takes a little too long to address oppressive gods and the cosmetic store has much of what we don't like seeing in our games. Loot boxes that are padded with unwanted items (no duplicates at least) and far too many exclusive skins, meaning most skins are not available for direct purchase. A somewhat positive are the daily deals which can legitimately give good deals (though it might also tempt you to spend). On the more positive side of things all characters can be unlocked for free and if you wish you can buy the god pack which gives you all current (and future) gods for a one time purchase, a good deal if you like the game. On the whole I really recommend giving Smite a go. It is in the healthiest spot it has been in for a long time and with the amount of gods, roles, builds, playstyles and various nuances to learn I find it to be a very good experience (just watch your wallet, the skin for that character you never play might look amazing, but it ain't worth it for you). There is no story to spoil.. it's a third person take on a Moba.. the difference is it's all legit mythological gods. I've played many Moba games on PC, and a few on consoles.. smite transitions the best. The third person angle makes assassin's worth playing. And there's multiple game modes. Free to play, non pay to win, what more could you want?

But coming from Paragon, I say Smite offers a vastly inferior gameplay experience with little of the excitement I got from Paragon. Even though Paragon had lots of issues during its day, it also had a 3D map with tons of verticality which could be used to either lose your pursuers or set up ganks, while Smite's maps are just a single flat surface with a few walls here and there. In Paragon you could either jump between two platforms or fall down, but why does the jump button exist in Smite? I have no idea, as it serves no purpose other than goofing around. 3D also meant you could target projectiles like a shooter, while Smite lets you target only horizontally. The same "flat" feeling comes from most of the other aspects in Smite when compared to Paragon, from the announcer to the soundtrack to voice acting to art style to graphics to... well, you get the idea.

Smite is a by-the-numbers free to play MOBA. It ticks all the boxes. Everything it does is the minimum standard in the genre, but it doesn't go beyond that. Smite's an OK game, but it's not great. Especially when compared with other superior games in the niche 3D MOBA genre. Had I never experienced Paragon before, I would have awarded Smite with a 8.5/10, but it's a 7/10 instead.

Let's begin with the matchmaking.. or in fact the non-matchmaking. Let's say you're a new player to the game and play your first match against real player. If you're lucky, you'll be teamed with experienced player that have a lot of hour of game play against low experienced player so you'll easily win the game even if it is the first time you play. So the matchmaking doesn't even care of the skill or ability of the player and make team that are totally unbalance. That's the first point.

For my second point, let say that it is the environment itself. Since I begin to play, I've been bullied and even receive messages directly in my PlayStation player box from player that want to insult me or even to show off the fact that they win. I had to restrict my message box to avoid those kind of message that was uncanny and hurting.

Finally, my last point, the game is full of "BUG". Some gods have attacks that don't work properly or just didn't work at all. The game crash really often and, often, in the middle of a battle. So you either be killed or just be kick out of the game. Twice I had bugs like that and couldn't return in the game or return but the game was still bugged and receive a deserter penalty and couldn't play for 30 minutes.

So if you want to have a pleasant and entertaining game don't choose this one, you'll regret it. I have looked to the other review and realize that I wasn't the only one that think that... what a shame for a game that would be fun otherwise.

Ta bastante chido para ser un MOBA, que no es un género que me guste mucho, es divertido aunque los servidores a veces caen y el emparejamiento es un asco.

Smite is a game that exists and I and many others enjoy, it’s not a phenomenal game, it’s not a revolutionary game and it’s not all to uniue but it’s certainly enjoyable especially with friends. It’s not a game that you’ll constantly come running back to and it can be easy to get bored of because of how repetitive it can get but thanks to it’s free price it’s definitely worth trying to seeSmite is a game that exists and I and many others enjoy, it’s not a phenomenal game, it’s not a revolutionary game and it’s not all to uniue but it’s certainly enjoyable especially with friends. It’s not a game I’d shout from the rooftop recommending but if someone asked me if they should play it I would definitely encoruage them to try it for themselves Expand

The most unbalanced Moba i have ever played. Oneshot or be oneshot in the entire game. A complete CC fest that forces you to watch how you are forced in 1 place for literal 10 seconds, just because you dared to do the mistake of getting hit by a single skillshot. The new Gods are more broken than anything i have ever seen.

It's tough to get into, but once you crossed that threshold, this PC port will grab you by the throat and not let go any time soon.

While the tutorials could see some work, and the tooltip text and other UI elements of the PlayStation 4 version are inconsistent in their size, this doesn’t detract from the game’s solid foundation.

From the outset, it’s clear that SMITE is a perfect fit for consoles.
