I have a PS4 Pro and the game causes my system to overheat and shut down every time I try to use the lab. This can be repeated consistently. A broken game deserves a 0 rating.

The game completely froze every couple of hours, causing me a lot of setbacks and lost time. I gave up and stopped playing.

    Very overrated.
It's a literal grindfest (if you want to platinum it) and it's just repeating the same steps over and over and over. Boring as all get out. If you play about an hour and a half you have seen the entire game.

Seems like a good game but the performance is incredibly terrible, when standing still looking at nothing it seems to barely hold 30 fps, but if a lot of particles start appearing, or there are a lot of slimes on the screen (in a game about creating a farm of slimes) the performance will dip to about 20 fps.

Even worse is that when exploring (one of the parts of the core gameplay loop)

Even worse is that when exploring (one of the parts of the core gameplay loop) you will come across some places, which judging by what I have seen in videos of the game being played in a pc, look good, have some nice detail and personality to them, and just make you want to play the game more, however, you see, these locations have a lot of stuff in them, and when walking around them (principally in the jungle) the game's assets will drop to PS2 era levels, and the framerate WILL drop to 10 to 15 frames per second.

So basically, when engaging with the core gameplay loop of the game, doing what you are supposed to do to derive enjoyment from the experience, you are rewarded with an unplayable mess where you are punished for exploration, one of the main parts of the game, and are punished for ranching slimes in SLIME RANCHER.

I only recently picked it up because of the (kind of) new PS+ Extra, and was horrified with the garbage performance, for what seems like a game that I would really like, and now seeing that it came out for PS4 more than 4 YEARS ago, I don't really see any excuse for it, I know it isn't the PS4's fault, it isn't that pathetic of a console, and I know it isn't my specific system's fault, since it can run games thousands of times more graphically intensive (such as RDR2, and GOW 2018) without even a hitch.

The fact that it runs Slime Rancher this badly is entirely the game's fault, and inexcusable.

While gameplay isn’t super-deep, you’ll still find yourself returning to the slime ranch again and again. [Issue#155, p.90]

Slime Rancher is an enjoyable foray into virtual ranching, yet fails to provide enough meaningful depth beyond its adorable visual identity.
