It is a fine game if you like card games. I enjoyed playing it for a while, but there isn't too much content. It becomes repetative soon.

It's a decent game, but I do think the game has a few flaws that's makes it boring after awhile.

Cons -Animations are really bland, for a card game with combat there could of been way more done. your character doesn't even really move. -Somewhat too dependent on RNG elements, so if you don't get the right cards/relics, you will lose as this game isn't really skill based but more luck

-Enemy variety isn't that good, which is odd considering the theme of the game.
-You can easily tell if your run is going to fail right away in the first few minutes

    Pros
    - Good ideas and no bugs
    -the random events are cool
    - fun game to play for a few minutes

Overall, I think it depends somewhat if you like these type of card games/roguelikes. It's not a bad game at all, it's just for me it does get boring after awhile and really after a few hours you do feel like this is all the game really has to offer.

Still would recommend the purchase or play it with ps plus or xbox gamepass.

Slay the spire is an RPG where your character plays cards for attack and defense. It's fun BUT has some battles (especially end of level boss battles) that are simply unwinnable! So you have as much chance of a good card as you do trash! There are merchants but gold is so scarce they're virtually pointless as you can't sell cards! Next issue is that some end of level bosses are unbeatable! The time guardian boss will trash you every time with his ability to end your turn when you've not even played a card! This happened 4 times in a row which didn't even allow me to play a defense card so I was dead in no time. This boss is simply too overpowered so you'll never get a decent fight. As said, the game is fun when you start but the random cards and overpowered level bosses make for a frustrating game and this left me feeling underwhelmed! Luckily I got the game free with PlayStation plus! Otherwise I'd have felt cheated out of £20! I've had 9 playthroughs in less than a week and the game is now boring due to the lack of character development ( there isn't any!) And the random cards and overpowered bosses! Nice idea, poorly executed! Expand

Slay the Spire takes the best parts of roguelites, dungeon crawlers, and card games, and mixes them together into an unholy, but absurdly enjoyable game. It’s the kind of game that gets under your skin and uses it like a tent, just camping out and reminding you that you aren’t playing it. It’s the kind of game that you can jump in for one quick run and suddenly realise that you've been playing for five hours and should really be asleep. It’s the kind of game that is easy to play, hard to master, and impossible to put down. What more could you want?

Slay the Spire is a hugely enjoyable single-player deck-builder that feels genuinely unique in its genre.

Slay the Spire may have some slight performance issues in the transition from PC to console, but the game is still one of the best deck-building games out there. It’s definitely one of the best titles published by Humble Bundle so far, and it deserves its spot among the top-rated games of 2019.
