    If you enjoyed last year’s iOS/Android sleeper Fallout Shelter, but wanted more complexity, less predictable combat and a greater sense of achievement even in abject failure, look no further.

    Sheltered is like a premium version of Fallout Shelter, and it's a far more thematically compelling proposition. I love that it makes you be quite ruthless in your efforts to keep your family alive, but then allows you to feel awful when they die. It's less humanising than The War of Mine, which is the most readily comparable game out there at the moment, but it's intense for its own, valuable, reasons.

    Sheltered is a well crafted game that is quite tough at first to make progress in, but once you’re used to its systems there can be a rewarding experience.

    This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. This game falls into the survival genre. Not much story is given. Civilization has been destroyed save for a few roaming survivors and gangs on the surface, as well your family in an underground doomsday bunker.

    You start by picking and naming this family. Two adults and two kids plus a pet of your choice. Then you start surviving Day 1 with the clock going by fairly quickly. Every 24 hours happening fast on the clock, for as long as you can, until a variety of things kill you. You will most likely die a couple times, maybe more than a couple. Starvation, thirst, bandits, radiation poisoning, trauma, food poisoning, water poisoning, air poisoning, violence! People will come to kill you in the shelter and rape your family and kill them too. You must plant booby traps, as well get strong and smart. Not everyone wants to attack your bunker. Some want to join your family, others want to trade.

    There is an RPG element with skills getting stronger and building upgrades to your bunker like more floors and stronger bunker doors.. Eventually you will need to take some gear and go search the surface for food, supplies and fuel. You will battle enemies on the surface and start by throwing punches and swinging baseball bats, gaining more experience each battle so you can use crowbars up to sniper and assault rifles. You can also find auto parts and rebuild your RV making travels easier.

    You will meet strange strangers and friendly new friends. Mixed in with a crazy military who can stomp you flat pretty easily, SPOILER ALERT, pack grenades once you get them. Two grenades can kill anything above ground.

    I score an 8 because I have mastered the game, am on the top 10 leaderboard worldwide for days survived. After you get all the secret blueprints and learn how to defend and feed/water your bunker, you will be wanting more.

    The game is great but I want more to do. There are secrets to the game to discover I have left out but even after you discover those secrets you will still be looking for things to do.

    I believe its priced fairly around the $9.99 price range. Found on the PS Store.

    ***EXTRA SPOILER DO NOT READ I REPEAT*** Do not read this. If you want to unlock the mystery hatch once you find it you will need the secret pass code. Every game is different but to get it you will need to pick the fish as your pet at the beginning when making your family. If you can manage to survive with the fish for a few weeks, maybe less Im not sure exactly but the fish has the secret pass code. Eventually you will notice the fish blowing bubbles. He will blow 4 sets of bubble, for example, 5 bubbles, 3 bubbles, 9 bubbles, 1 bubble. Then the fish will do a spin in the fish tank and repeat this code. He will do this a few times. Then take a break and repeat it. So in this case, the pass code is 5-3-9-1. Once you get in the vault you get a couple of Military Assault Rifles and lots of ammo.
