A beautiful game, hard to understand without knowing the creator story but so immersive... The music is fantastic and it's a pleasure to live it from beginning to the end. This bad user score (3 negatives from nowhere) is undeserved.

The most astonishing fact about this game, is that it was made by one person (beside the music). And the most disappointing fact are the graphics, which could be from the midst 90s. Even in VR-Mode, the immersion lacks quite often as the absence of details and bold, blurry visuals ruin everything.

Unfortunately, really, what the maker tries to build up is awesome, sound/music is great, but it's just like a raw version of what this should have become and in the end I really had to force myself to finish it. I can only recommend to wait when it's on sale - as a tryout, it's certainly overpriced for what it delivers at the moment.

Separation is akin to video games what 2001: A Space Odyssey is to movies. While some will try it and quickly decide it's slow and boring, others will find themselves lost in its beauty and desolation. All along you are spurred along by a strange whispering that seems to follow you. Finally, it's topped off by an ending that is as haunting as it is ineffable. Expand

Three-quarters of the way through, the experience becomes much more enjoyable, as you get a new mode of transport2 that expands and speeds up your exploration. This doesn’t last long enough, though, and the game ends as it begins; on a slow, confusing note. [Issue#174, p.86]

Separation is an apt title to illuminate its central problem. The adventure beckons you to experience a desolate world, utilize a VR headset, tingle your sensory stimuli in a way you can almost touch, and engage with a narrative tackling uncomfortable emotions. But, despite this magical potential, all of the accumulated shortcomings reveal the integral quality it sorely lacks: authentic connection.

Separation offers two to three hours of exploration and puzzle solving into a moody but charming and strange world that only VR technology can deliver.
