The biggest change is the new edition's complete graphical overhaul. [Apr 2018, p.80]

This HD version of Secret of Man is a welcome release, especially for those who want to revisit the adventures of the three young protagonists. Newer gamers though may find the overall design to be dated.

I still enjoyed this new package. Secret of Mana was always about charm and personality over polish. Yes, the game remains a bit of a mess, but that special spark at its core burns brighter than ever. If you loved the original game, or are just in the mood for something light and quirky, this remake strikes true.

Secret of Mana is the same adventure that I remember, and I couldn’t have asked for more.

Despite Secret of Mana's technical blunders, this new version is a faithful re-creation with a lot of reverence for its source material. For those who may have missed out on Secret of Mana the first time around, it also serves as a solid introduction to a classic from the Golden Age. At a time when local co-op is difficult to find on most current-gen consoles, it gives a fresh option for those wanting to play with others. Secret of Mana's remaster offers a magical, vivid tale for the current-gen library.

Secret of Mana HD Remaster is a bit of an odd duck. For every one thing it does to enhance the original, it makes a strange, distracting change or doesn’t make an obvious fix. Still, even as I waffled between loving it for its happy colors and lovable cast and feeling frustrated by its fussy AI and uneven difficulty, I always felt a childlike wonder at its relentless charm. Warts and all, this classic RPG remains a treat to pick up and play.

Not the best remake of all time, but a good one in any case. The three player coop it´s one of its best features and its soundtrack (both old and the new re-arranged one) is superb. The new 3D graphics are very averaged, though.

This legendary RPG series returns with a vengeance, thanks to decent graphics and a lot of small improvements. The developers mostly play it safe though, omitting - among other things - online features, which is a shame.

But if someone expressed an interest in playing Secret of Mana, I’d first encourage them to buy a SNES Classic.

It's not perfect, but it is Secret of Mana. People are just finding what they can to complain about because they don't care for the art style. That's legit, the only reason I can think of that people think it's unplayable. It's great, I've already put several hours into it. Full Review »

It fixed getting stuck from AI, getting trapped on the ground, added voice acting for every npc and additional character development, among other improvements. Been playing it non stop with a huge smile on my face and other true fans should be in for the same nostalgia trip. Full Review »
