Feb 15, 2019Scintillatron 4096 offers so much more than its dated retro stylings initially suggest. What begins as a somewhat clunky, simple twin-stick shooter, quickly blossoms into a strategic, thoughtful and immensely addictive little gem of a videogame.

Jan 7, 2019Scintillatron 4096 feels like a long-lost retro arcade game yet it offers a unique scoring system that's fresh and will keep you hooked.

Mar 4, 2019Scintillatron 4096 seems to have come straight out of an elucubration by Jeff Minter, and this is perhaps the best compliment that I can make. Frantic and fun, at times frustrating, but also endowed with an unexpected strategic depth, this game seems to have come here directly from an arcade of the 80s.

Jan 28, 2019In a genre that is well populated with similar titles, Scintillatron 4069 differentiates itself by offering specific goals and challenges which makes the game addictive and refreshing. Using powerups is extremely annoying though since they can seriously mess up the goals you're trying to accomplish. This combination makes for a somewhat schizophrenic experience. But, all in all a solid arcade shooter which can entertain you for a fair amount of time.

Dec 25, 2018Scintillatron 4096 wears its arcade influences on its sleeves but has more than enough of its own identity to carve out its own path. It may not be the most spectacular or exciting example of a twin-stick shoot 'em up but it is one of the smartest and offers its own type of fun if you're willing to give it a go.

Dec 19, 2018Scintillatron 4096 is a unique arena shooter. It’s got all the shiny effects and abstract enemies you’d expect, but demands a very different style of play. The deliberate target selection doesn’t mean it’s sedate by any means, but rather the fast-paced action needs to be more carefully planned.
