If you have only 30 minutes for gaming, but still want to feel that wonderful sense of exhaustion and eye strain, this is the right game for you. Jokes aside, Sayonara Wild Hearts is dynamic, short, stylish, flashy and definitely not for everyone. It is an experience, more than an actual game, hence surely not for everyone. But if you want to test your ocular gaming stamina, do give it a try.

Despite the frantic nature of the game suggesting pushing you forward is its main motivation, some sections do have a death mechanic that sets you back to a checkpoint. It’s a fun ride full of spectacle, but messy to the point where you can struggle to connect, never really committing to pursuing either experience or gameplay. [Issue@168, p86]

One of the more interesting ideas the game posits is actually how it approaches trophies. A collection of “zodiac riddles” give you vague clues about what to do, and are usually weird things you would not do while playing regularly. This is a master stroke as it vastly increases the replayability of the title, which would top out at barely an hour without it. Despite its short length, this is still very much a trip worth taking.

First review on the site, completely spoiler-free. This game does for video games what Journey did for them. Pure ecstacy at times, heartbreaking at others. Incredibly beautiful soundtrack with stunning visuals, had me fist-pumping the air then nearly crying near the game's end. Is it short, yes. Is it worth every penny still, yes. Would it be better if it were longer, no! Is the game pure perfection, no, but I still wouldn't change a thing about it. If you enjoy experiencing new things in gaming, this is for you in my opinion. If you like pop music or really any music, I believe this is for you. If you like runner games, this is likely for you, but it's much more than that. Do yourself a favor and give this a go. A game that was obviously developed for mobile devices. The music and presentation are cool and stylish, but the gameplay is dull. Some stagesA game that was obviously developed for mobile devices. The music and presentation are cool and stylish, but the gameplay is dull. Some stages are barely a minute long, and the whole experience lasts an hour or so.

It's basically a swiping game: Everything is on rails and you just need to press left or right on the controller to avoid obstacles or collect coins. Occasionally you have to press X at the right moment and there are one or two stages that play a bit differently, but it's mostly about style and not gameplay.

I liked the visuals and music, but as a game it falls flat.
