If bringing Sakura Wars back means sacrificing tight, strategic gameplay, good characterization, and memorable storytelling for a sloppy heap of half-melted vanilla ice cream, I'd rather it stay dead.

Sakura Wars is a soft reboot of a classic Japanese game that is sadly plagued with repetitive combat, dated gameplay, and creepy relationships.

Eager to please genre fans, Sakura Wars delivers an old school experience with a hefty dose of drama. [Eurogamer Recommended]

Were these simple yet satisfying battles presented without the expansive narrative, they wouldn’t be nearly as satisfying. Sakura Wars’ story is filled with passionate, dedicated characters, and that passion and dedication carries over when transitioning from theater stage to mech cockpit. I’m in the early hours of this new Sakura Wars, but I like what I’ve played. [Impressions]

OST is absolute number one, even beats Persona 5 Royal in my opinion - if the game OST not win BEST MUSIC in 2020 i will be really mad. Only think is not good in Sakura Wars is simple ,,button mashing Warriors style'' battle system, and game is so easy. If that game had battle system from Valkyria Chronicles ... - dream. 10/10 for Sakura Taisen fan base, who doesnt really care about battle system, if u care - 8/10. I also recommend this game for Visual Novel fans.

PS: Sumire looks fabulous in kimono, and that Anastasia boobs ... mmm ...

My only issues is that there is no leveling up and learning new moves in combat, regardless the combat is still fun. But the experience as a whole from the music, setting, characters and story is top notch Full Review »
