I went into Runbow excited. I left Runbow physically ill and stressed. The level difficulty balance is completely out of whack, half the levels are plain simple, and the other half near impossible. I'd put that down to poor level design and lacklustre character control. Sometimes there's just too much happening on the screen, not to mention the character will frequently glitch out and get stuck on platform corners. Jumping is straight up bad. Single jump does nothing, and double jump has a really small margin of error. Now take into account all my above criticisms, and consider this is a game that supports NINE simultaneous players on-screen. Runbow is a supposed to be a platformer party game, but it ends up being clunky and frustrating, slow paced, ill-balanced and the kind of game you might play for 5 minutes with friends before finding something better. Despite some weak single-player filler, Runbow's player base deserves a new lease of life. With its delightfully flamboyant art style and randomized maps, the game can provide a firm package with its local multiplayer mayhem. Picking your favorite indie hero and fighting for victory in 4-player local tournaments is a genuinely good time. Overall, Runbow is a quirky amalgamation of brawling, platforming, and racing that should aid your search for quality couch competition.

13AM had a really cool idea that mostly works but unfortunately gets lost within a slew of issues. Runbow could be a great game for the dedicated speedster, but for most others, it comes off as pretty, but lackluster.

Runbow's unique concept combined with it's stylish execution make for a frantic, fun and beautifully intuitive party game that features a surprising amount for a solo player to enjoy too.
