RPG Maker MV for the PS4 is about what you would expect — quite possibly the best program for non-programmers to make video games with but on a medium clearly not made for it. Granted, the developers did their best, and it shows — truly — but there were limitations the team simply could not get around, like a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse and the inability to sell games that I find to be a let down. I can recommend RPG Maker MV for the PS4, but not over the PC version; still, it’s better than not having the title at all, so if you’ve been curious about trying your hand at game-making, let that curiosity get the best of you. Whether it be on PC or PS4, consider getting RPG Maker MV today (in that order).

RPG Maker MV is a decent port of a 5-year-old game development toolset made available for console players. It takes time to understand and hours of patience to truly get the hang of, but those that make the most out of it are in for a world of possibilities. This series has evolved over the years to handle any type of adventure that a user would want to create. This console version only opens that door to more unique adventures.

RPG Maker MV finally arrives on PS4 and Switch after five years its launch on PC. This porting feels too compromised without mouse and keyboard support, without the PC community and the chance to create commercial games for PC, browser web and mobile. Just grab the game on PC, as it's a much better version counting on the support of a solid community.

Works fine for what it is, but eventually begins to fall apart the more you add to you game.

Many mechanics are missing when compared to the original RMMV. Menus within menus, within menus, within menus **BUWHAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!**

There is also this annoying feature where a "Main Menu" choice was added to the Playtest pause menu, and it is one slot down from the Resume choice, while the "Return to Editor" choice is two slot down. So, if you have been working in a game for two or three hours and decide to playtest, but didn't save, and you inadvertently choose to "Return to Main Menu" because of some stupid input delay, then you have just wasted those two to three hours.

There is also a lack of support for the PS4 version when compare to the Switch version. In fact, while players on the Switch could create and share their games on the Switch RMMV servers, PS4 players were relegated to the **** void because NISA had beef with SOYNY. Why did they have beef with SOYNY? Because they decide, in their not-so-infinite wisdom, do **** SOYNY, while hosting an online event... That was monitored by SOYNY, and they knew that.
This lead to SOYNY threatening to ban all future NISA games on the their consoles. This, of course, pissed NISA off, so they decided that instead of being responsible, grownup adults, they would rather punish the players. So, they switch off the PS4 RMMV servers and went radio silent. I was among a few people who threatened legal action if they did not rectify the situation, but NISA passed it off as "just a bug," even though they were able to simply flip a switch (metaphorically speaking. It was just a line of code) and turn it on later.
