    I hate soccer and I hate racing/car games (and I'm not even a fan of most multiplayer games) BUT THIS IS ONE OF THE FUNNEST GAMES EVER. Exquisite controls, incredible enjoyment, ridiculous replayability. They have a masterpiece on their hands.

    This action-packed, fast-paced, 'Top Gear' type car football/soccer game is a thrill! It is pure enjoyment for everyone in the sofa waiting for their turn as well. The ease of play and limited game mechanics lend itself to a steep learning curve to which even the smaller family members can enjoy.     10/10 would aerial again. This makes soccer interesting. Great team game, can be frustrating without friends with sh!t randoms losing you games. Still amazing game to play and watch. Fantastic devs FTW

    One of the most unique and rich gaming experiences I've had since Smash Bros. I don't know how to describe how good it feels to keep getting better at this game. You start of flailing around like a crazy person...you are well aware of your inability to play well but you still have such a great time.     This game is basically perfect. Great graphics, surprisingly deep gameplay, strong developer support and generosity and tons of action. Play couch coop, online or exhibitions versus the AI. They're all fun as hell

    I have taken my time to make this review. I've been playing the game since July 2015, when it was free on PS4. In this year and a half, I have easily played 150-200 hours, acquiring the rank of expert in the process.

    All in all, this game is incredibly fun, hard to master and great even to watch other (preferably skilled) people playing. The variety of options in gameplay (1 vs 1, 3 vs 3), the multiple scenarios, cars and challenges, give this game an almost unmatched replay quality. I've played this game consistently for a year and a half and I am still hooked. The addition of decals and other perks made it all the more interesting. Getting that random "Crate" drop encourages you to keep on grinding in Ranked (or free) mode.

    After playing so many great games on PS4 (Metal Gear Solid V, Fallout 4, FFXV, Skyrim, FIFA etc), this humble little game is, by far, the one I've played the most. Psyonix: chapeau! 10/10    … Expand

    This game is amazing. It retains the amazing gameplay of its predecessor (Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars). It also retains almost all the features of the original: Including the amazing 4 player split screen and bots. Two features lost in this age of gaming. The only features not returning I can think of is custom playlist for the music, (which is trivial but I still missThis game is amazing. The only features not returning I can think of is custom playlist for the music, (which is trivial but I still miss it) and the mini game campaign. (which was fun but really a minor distraction in the grand scheme of things) Obviously there are vast improvements to visuals, options, net code, car-customization. And yes as of right now servers are having issue (only because the game is so awesome) but if there is one game studio I would trust to rectify the situation quickly its Psyonix. I mean Halo 2 sold 2.4 Million units in 24 hours. This game shipped 1.2 Million in 48. Halo made the news with those sales #’s, this game was done by a small indie company not funded by M$.
    But since it’s the gamplay that set it apart I will just copy and paste my review of SARPBC as I feel that is the best explanation as to why this game is great.
    “I know this is going to sound like an exaggeration buy I am completely serious. I have played video games nearly all my life, I even worked in a game store in high school. What I am getting at is I know my games. And this is, in my option, the best sports video game of all time. I would also consider it the best split-screen multiplayer game for 4 people currently available. Be warned the learning curve on this game is very-very high so it is best to start playing the game with a group of people near the same skill level. Why is this game one of my favorite games of all time? Well there are a lot of reasons. For one it is the perfect mix of strategy and execution. The game is very complex, well actually the game is very simple, but the possible approaches to the game are infinite. I used to play alot of shooters (mostly halo), it was really fun but after awhile my strategy for almost any given situation became static. However in this game, while a few strategy do remain constant, so many (after four years of play) are dynamic. You really have to improvise on situations in this game, the result is that the game always seems fresh. Again same can be said with execution in this game. I have been playing for years and there is always more for me to learn, and it continually feels like i am moving towards being a better player. ( If you want an example of how good people can be at this game just go to youtube, some of the people that play this game are unbelievably good ). Again i will use shooters as a counter example, where execution performance converges on an asymptote at a quicker rate. (I'm not trying to bash shooter i like them alot, but almost all the execution is based on reaction time and muscle memory) Scoring goals in this game requires an almost indefinable finesse that leads you to feel a real sense accomplishment. Anyway I am just rambling now. My main point, buy this game.

    Oh and also Psyonix, the company that makes this game, is really cool. In an age where DLC cost usually as much as most games itself, Psyonix has released two patches (doubling the original amount, of maps and car skins / fixing glitches ext,) for free. The later of the patches, i think, was released over two years after the game came out. Anyway it's a great little company that is worthy of support”    … Expand

But with so many people streaming it on Twitch, I figured I have to try it (especially since it's free with PS+). Well I was wrong. On the first face-off of my first game I scored a goal and was hooked. This is one of those games that will spread like wildfire because it's pure fun. It's accessible, hasOk, I'll be the first to admit, I didn't think this game could really be very good. But with so many people streaming it on Twitch, I figured I have to try it (especially since it's free with PS+). Well I was wrong. On the first face-off of my first game I scored a goal and was hooked. This is one of those games that will spread like wildfire because it's pure fun. It's accessible, has steady graphics, no lag, and the matchmaking is phenomenal most of the time. If I had to find a complaint it would be that the AI players who sometimes get slotted in are overpowered and dont make many mistakes.

    I can't put this game down. It's my go-to when I turn on the PS4. A little tricky to pickup at first but hundreds of hours later I'm still at it and only getting better. This isn't done with earning fancy perks or tricks, it's done with endlessly tweaking your game style and learning more about the tiniest nuances of its game play.

    Rocket League is one of the most entertaining and fun games I think I have ever played. Surprisingly deep in its mechanics, everything works perfectly as every game, online or offline, is as ridiculously fun as the one before it. There's also replay value here in abundance, surprisingly, as it's very, very addictive.

    95/100 (rounded to 10/10).

    This game is so good it might as well have the Nintendo seal of quality on the cover. Best game play of the year, best multiplayer of the year, most fun game since Mario Kart 64. This is as good as it gets. Buy it.

    A host of different single-player and multi-player options should cover everybodys tastes, and this perhaps is the icing on the cake to the gameplay. The concept of football using cars is taken to its most fun and competitive and even if you think that you can't play this, you will, thanks to really well-thought controls and presentation that doesn't confuse the player, rather it assists whilst delivering all the necessary punch.

    The only negative point right now is the online (server issues), but they are improving, and in this weekend just gone I've spent a fair few hours playing this online.

    Rocket League is perhaps a game that is devoid of words to elevate it anymore or debate it: for if you are then you're missing the point. Play it for goodness sake, enjoy it, and see you online!!    … Expand

    Best game I've ever played since the next generation. It's very easy to play, but extremely hard to master. Go watch the videos of Kronovi, the best player in the world and you will realize the height of the skill ceiling of this game. It's unbelievable.

    It really brings out the competitive spirit. If you don't get a goal right, it makes you try harder. When you see people getting goals while flying, it makes you want to soar too. If you're tired of the yearly FIFA, this will rejuvenate your soccer interest.

    I play a lot of video games. I love good game theory. This game is very tightly crafted. I can't remember having more fun with a game. Bloodborne, Dark Souls, The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Rocket League are in my top 10 list... strange bedfellows indeed.

    Rocket League is the very definition of "easy to learn, hard to master". Building upon the simple concepts of "hit ball at goal" and "rockets are awesome", this game leaves any gamer dancing in their seat and eagerly awaiting the next tense match.

    Simplistic visceral fun. Soccer with cars!! There is little depth beyond using angles and timing your jump (to hit the ball) with the bounce of the ball but damn it is the most purely fun game I have played all year. I would equate it to something like Super Smash Bros in that it is easy to pick up and play, there is a lot of room to increase your skill, and it's just incredible fun.

    One of the most fun games in a long time. It's very easy to get into it, there's no entry barrier. Just start it up and have fun. At the same time, mastering it is another story. If you just want to have a good time, you won't regret this.

    Rocket League is a must have for all the competition lovers out there! It's great fun and even more: local multiplayer! So many new games don't have this feature anymore, with Rocket League it's a blast to play with up to 3 friends.

    I've been playing this game for three and a half years now and it still draws me back almost daily. The gameplay is fluid, easy to learn but difficult to master. It's one of the few online multiplayer games where I don't get overly frustrated. This is probably due to the excellent matchmaking.     Like most PS Plus subscribers, I got this for free. It is so much fun and a good clean game.
    It's rare that a little Gem like this comes along.
    I've since bought the DLC and would recommend getting it.

    I just want to say that Meta should remove reviews based off of things like the servers being down. Every negative review of this game sites an issue like that. This game is perfect based on the sum of it's parts. We live in an age where games get released sometimes a little bit earlier than they should be but that's what updates are for. When I log into PSN and it's down for maintenance than I use that as a reason to play my One or my Wii U. If the servers in RL are down then I play an AR challenge in Arkham Knight. These are not things that should inspire a person to log into Metacritic and bash someone's hard work. The devs obviously put a lot of care into the making of this game, but they weren't anticipating it being one of the major hits of 2015. That being said they couldn't have dreamed that the servers would get the traffic that they did. Obviously they could've been "better safe than sorry" and made sure they could handle the traffic but even then it doesn't always work out for everyone. My time with this game so far has been some of the most fun I've ever had in a game. This is the Mario Kart killer right here and I **** love Mario Kart 8.… Expand

    Can't believe how great this is. Can't believe it's only 20 bucks (let alone free for ps plus!) This game puts any wii u party game to shame, as the usually cost 60 bucks with less content - looking at you Splatoon. Lots of modes, lots of customization to unlock - without having to pay extra. This is what gaming is all about.

    I've had a good think about this and I think this may be my favourite game of all time, on any system. I mean, I've had it over 2 years now and I'm still addicted to it, as are my mates who I play it with. Everyone's seen it by now so no point breaking down the score.

    I can get burnt out on it and take two weeks off, then come back and spend another week's worth of free time playing the hell out of it. Even better, aside from DLC stuff (which is completely optional and not required by any means) there is no need to put more money in the game and still get full enjoyment out of it. It's actually depressing how that is a highlight in this age of gaming, but there ya go.

    More recently they launched a new series of game modes, with some taken from the first battle cars game, that really added a sufficient amount of variety to the game and is heavily utilized by the player base. The only downside is the mode is completely random. I'm not a big fan of the low gravity mode but the big ball and cube ball modes are insanely fun.

    Yes the player base has dropped quite a bit. You won't see 50K players online at low peak times anymore and sometimes you can wait 5 minutes late at night (PST) for a 4v4 game with only 150+ players hanging out in that lobby, but going on six months of life there's still no shortage of games and no game modes that are abandoned. Probably the only downside of Rocket League is being a west coast US nocturnal player (9pm-4am PST), which unfortunately I am.

    This is easily the best $20 you will ever spend. When it goes on sale, it's an absolute steal.    … Expand

    Such a fun game! Love the customization you can do to your car as well. I'm still shocked it was free for a month. It's definitely a game I would pay money for.

    This games is amazing. Rockets, customization and football (Soccer for you Americans!). There is nothing bad i can say about this game! Best part is that i can play with my friends on the ps4, as i am playing on the pc!!! Also if you have a ps4 its free, whats not to love!

    I've beta'd this game....hands down the most fun I've had with either cars or soccer. Great fun either online or just with friends. It's simple, but can also be complicated trying to make certain goals....best part is if you have ps+ ....it's free!

    Wow. I played Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars on the ps3, and it was the hidden gem. So glad they made a sequel that is much more popular! The game is one of the most addictive games I have ever played.

    A fun, addictive and gorgeous video game. It's fun to play with friends and even if you don't have friends online it can still be a fun game. The visual customization is pretty extensive and the controls are quite challenging (which is a good thing). The game is constantly updated with new content so the game never gets too old. Rocket League is awesome.

The game has a basic premise, control an RC car around a football pitch scoring goals with a giant football. But the game isn't as simple as it appears. Games are fast, frantic and brilliant fun, there's nothing quite like scoring and epic goal and watching the replay, which you can save at the end of the game.

    The soundtrack is awesome with a number of unique songs playing as you wait for a game. The community is very nice and people often have fun banter during games. Most people are decent and I've only ever got one negative message after a game, most will congratulate you if you score a great goal.

    The controls are fluent and work well, car designs are cool and can be customised. Levelling up works well and gives you a reason to keep playing. Online it works well, now and then there is lag which is frustrating but 90% of games I've played have been absolutely fine.

    If you are looking for a fun and addictive arcade multiplayer I highly recommend Rocket League.    … Expand

    Terrific game! I have spent more time on this than almost any other game to date. And to think i got it free on ps plus. Its so simple to learn but will take you weeks to get the proper hang of it. Perfecting your moves comes next - so addictive.

    Gameplay: Rocket League is incredibly balanced. Ever battle-car has the same speed, the same maneuverability and the same jump height. The only thing which is slightly different between the battle-cars is the hitbox, but you probably won't notice that the hitbox is different at all. The general gameplay is very fast, very fun and very addictive. The controls are simple, but mastering the cars and the battle-car is difficult. The bots are playing surprisingly good, there's a high possibility that you will lose your first games against the bots.

    Customization possibilities: Players are able to customize their battle-car by unlocking items which are gained by completing an online or offline match. This includes changing the body, decal (skin), paint, wheels, rocket trail, topper (hat) and antenna of the battle-car. In total, there are more than 150 customization items unlockable, which means that there are millions of different customizations possible

    My conclusion: Rocket League is incredibly fun. Rocket League is incredibly addictive. Rocket League is incredibly competitive. If I would have to compare the gameplay to another game, I would only be able to choose Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, which is the prequel to Rocket League, made by the same developer. I strongly recommend to buy this game even if you don't like sports games as Rocket League feels way different compared to FIFA or PES. In my opinion Rocket League is definitely worth the money.    … Expand

    This game is massive fun. It's fast pace action, skill requiring and brings a nice tutorial and well programmed AI which help to improve your game very fast.

    What makes this game feel so great? The outstanding atmosphere is to be mentioned first, nice stadiums in day/afternoon/night light, customizable cars and car types which differ each but are perfectly balanced in strengths and weaknesses. Also while the game is UNREALISTIC, it's PLAUSIBLE. The way, the ball is moving after impact is predictable. Even though you hit the ball with a CAR it's more plausible than some strikes in FIFA. Props to the devs for that.

    The game is great and really entertaining! You can jump REALLY high with your car, it is so cool! There is no wizards, orcs, elfs or any other anoying things, so you are definatly able to focus on hitting the ball with your car. I could go on for hours. It is actually a little funny that this game make some others overpriced expansion games look like rabbit potatos. It is simple but fun.

    Simple to learn, yet difficult to master does not even begin to explain what a master can and will be able to do with a solid teammate in Rocket League. Matches are so captivating and scream out loud fun when close to the wire, I do not understand how anybody can put this game down without the desire to at least try and learn to play it at the top tier.

    The score I give is based on my experience on the game and the ratio of how much I had fun to how much the game annoyed me. This game did not annoy me. This reminds me a lot of Resogun, because of its simple yet deep nature and its focus on gameplay and fun. This is the best multiplayer I played this year(followed by Splatoon). This is a must-play. Is this a perfect game? Of course not, however there never was or will be "a perfect game". But my experience with Rocket League was fun perfected.

    Incredible game. What's not to love. Fast paced football meets racer. Controls are great, great co-op, great multiplayer and the trophies are easy to pick up if you are a trophy hunter. You'll pick up most trophies after a week of intense playing without even realising. And you won't realise because you'll just be having so much fun. If you have a PS4 buy this game

The Arena's are all similar in shape to the most popular pitch in SARPBC (Urban) but they do vary in weather conditions and have both day & night play. I have heard they are developing additional Arena's of different shapes which is cool.

    The matchmaking system wants to match you to similar skilled players, whereas in the original you could be matched against the best players and get spanked :( or against noobs and spank them = boring.
    So now with similar skilled players there is always the competitive edge that makes you want to do better and have "JUST ONE MORE GAME !!!!"

    There were several different cars in SARPBC with only 4 different paint jobs for each car. Now there are a staggering amount of customisations available from different wheel trims to HATS and even more cars to choose from !!!! So you can have the coolest looking car on the pitch.

    Offline mode previously allowed you some skills training to learn the ropes and this is much the same now with Rocket League. However now you can try your skills against the bots in either Exhibition maps or Season Mode. Having completed 2 seasons (9 weeks & 18 weeks) it is very compelling and challenging. Yes the Bots make silly mistakes but in my experience playing SARPBC so do a lot of players. With the overwhelming success of Rocket League I feel confident that Pysonix will be improving Bot skills making it even more challenging.

    Overall I'm very impressed with Rocket League. In SARPBC it took me a couple of games to grips with the basics, several hours to get to a decent level and having played at least 10 hours a week for 5 years of SARPBC I was still learning how to score that FreeStyle Aerial Goal!!!

I have turned in to the type of gamer that mainly uses my PS4 to play/chat with my friends, and this is absolutely the perfect platform to do it on...both via couch or online.     The game is great as is, with my only complaint being that there is no arena variety. It would have been great to at least include one larger arena for the chaos (4v4) mode. I can't really complain though as the game runs like a dream, has a small file size, gorgeous visuals, and plenty to unlock.. AND IT WAS FREE. So refreshing in today's gaming world. I would have happily paid $50 for the fun I'm having, and will continue to support the developer.

    My biggest hope is that this game really takes off and gets support so we can get a true AAA title that everyone is excited for. The games is great in its simplicity but also has so much room to grow and develop that I'm excited for the day when Rocket League tournaments are widely publicized.

There is a single player season mode and exhibition matches with games ranging from 1v1 to 4v4. For the masochists like myself, they even included a 3v1 or 4v1 Unfair mode. However, in multiplayer is where this game really shines. As you play online, you unlock more and more customization options, including vehicles, toppers (hats), engines, paint, etc. All modes and aesthetics aside, the game play and replay value is what really makes this a stellar, must play game.

    The maneuverability of the cars will take a long time to master. The amount of things you can do might seem underwhelming at first, with boost and dodging being the first learned. The handbrake button can turn your car almost in a 180 when tapped, or can allow your car to drift, Tokyo style, when held. Combining those two with the boost and dodge will allow your car to maintain supersonic (max) speed throughout the game. Last but not least, the boost can be used as a jetpack, that can allow the most skilled pilots from Rocket League Academy to shoot and score from all areas of the map, even the ceiling.

    I could rattle on forever about the game, but I think you understand my views and I'm going to go satisfy that Rocket League itch I'm feeling just from writing this little review. 10/10, Must Play.    … Expand

    Devs have been great. Especially with the Free PS+ release which was totally unexpected and the beta showed that they were listening to the fans.

    The local co op with online mode is perfect and works without issue. Seamless intense gameplay and stats is exactly how I expected it to be. 10/10.

    The most addictive and entertaining game you will play on a ps4. The games are the perfect length and the action is engaging. Easy game to learn but difficult to master - welcoming to beginners but always room to improve your game. Hands down the most all around FUN game available for the console. The bots are more intelligent and challenging than the previous title.

    If I don't use 10 now, I won't ever use it. The most fun I've had playing with friends in the last two generations of console. It's simple to get into and understand, but the sky is the limit with how good you can get.

    Genuinely the most fun I've had in a long long time. The gameplay is simple but fantastic, it's a very well executed game that has already delivered hours of enjoyment, and it'll only get better as more people join the online community.

    The game is free for me so it's a win/win situation here. Futebol+Cars+Crazy Movements = FUN, prepare yourself to play a lot, I mean a lot =)

    Rocket League is the funnest game I have played in a long time, possibly all time. Online is really were this game excels. However, there are still plenty of offline modes. I would highly recommend this game.

The game is very simple (hit the ball into the other team's goal, there are no other rules) and the controls are easy to learn. The driving feels good. It's easy to get started but there's plenty of room to improve your skills, you can do some crazy stuff if you're good enough.     Rocket League is everything I dreamed the sequel would become. The skill ceiling on this game is enormous. Everyday you will get better and yet there is always something to improve upon. The Icing on the delicious cake is that Psyonix plans to release future maps as free DLC. Much love to them and I'm so glad for their success!

    This game blew me away, been gaming since 25 years and this game just brings me way back to what games used to be, simple to learn but hard to master. With a modern touch, nice graphics, fast matchmaking and tons of customizations. It is truly addictive. I highly recommend it even if you don't like cars or football you will like this game :)

    You are driving a small car and you have to get the ball into the opponents goal. This is done by driving into it. This can be done on the ground or in the air by jumping and using your boost effectively.     This have to be the most complete multiplayer of this generation.

    From the start of the Beta, Rocket League have showed great momentum in becoming one of the best multiplayer experiences on the PS4.

    It is fun to play with friends and with randoms and it delivers some of the most intense moments I have ever experienced in gaming.

    The graphics are very good, better than expected to run at solid 60 fps on ps4 and on my GTX 750 ti, they don't move a single fps down

    The multiplayer experience is great, and being able to play up to four players on the same machine is simply amazing.

    All I can say is that this game is a must buy, listed at 19,99$/19,99€ but worth more than most AAAs.

    Finally, I'd like to mention that the dev team makes us (the playerbase) feel like they're really caring about us, they've been commenting everything they've been doing to solve the server problems on the launch, worked 24 hours straight to solve them, further more, they've been answering pretty much every question about anything on the game, if I'm writing this review today, is because they've delivered a product of the finest quality at the lowest price and on the best conditions. The only thing I need to keep playing this for years is that they don't change.

    Probably the most fun you'll have playing your PS4. Such a simple idea(cars+soccer), executed perfectly. There's also a ton of customization goodies for your vehicle and everybody looks truly unique.

    The addiction is real, be careful.

    Easily one of my favourite games as of right now. From the crisp bright colours to the clean tight controls, everything about this game feels polished (except for their servers right now hehe). wonderful game overall!

    You can tell the developers actually care. Not only is it a great game but its free on PSN+! I can't wait for them to release some kind of DLC so I can actually support them.

    It's a blast to play and it only gets better as skills improve over time and as the competition ramps up. It's a game that everyone, whether they’re big into sports video games or just can’t seem to get into them, will really enjoy.

    I have no problem saying that this is the best and most original sports game I have played since at least FIFA 12. It mixes all the best elements of sports and online multiplayer games into one in an affordable and seamless experience that looks awesome in YouTube videos as well.
