The DLCs Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape were much better than the base game since they were more similar to the older games or more action based, respectively. But the game is just a boring stiff third person shooter with awful opening levels.

This game is pretty fun especially with second player. There are some pretty fun sequences and shooting galleries'. The combat is unique in the same way as RE4 and has some pretty satisfying animations to compliment your weapon fire. Unfortunately this game is longer than it needs to be and there are some notably poorly designed sections.

    - Seven minutes is all I can spare to play with you. -
A primeira batalha com Wesker simplesmente é uma das minhas Boss-battles favoritas in a long time.

The turning point in the series was Resident Evil 6 which was compelte garbage. Graphics are still good today. And they were great when this game was released. The horror aspect of this game is basically not existing but still .. it's one of the best action horror games to date. With one of the best villains in gaming history! The shop and upgrading system is fun and motivating aswell. Though I have to mention I never played this game alone, always in co-op. Expand

Compared to the previous games, is not very interesting. Didn't like the yellow filter and overall savanna vibes. Playing with AI is kinda painful. Not quite the Resident Evil experience I'm used to. Still, enjoyable.

Is Resident Evil 5 a good game in 2021? Depends on what you were expecting. Horror? Maybe a little, but it's mostly an action game with great co-op and an arcade-y feel to it.

The story is OK, the graphics are OK and the Gameplay is fun. I can't tell you how many times I have beaten this game from the beginning and unlocked everything. Even on professional mode the game is a fun time

Anyway, if you want a really FUN, somewhat short, addicting CO-OP game then I can't think of any better game other than Mario games of course. ;)

Having played this game for countless hours when I was a young teen with my cousin, I was intrigued on playing through over 10 years later when it was available on ps4. I don't want to be quoted on this but I think they just upped the game to 1080p and 60fps, as of most recently remastered games. Despite this I did not get even half the enjoyabilty as

This game (unfortunately) is just the beginning of the end of good RE games like I literally felt like playing a gears of war game the AI is annoying for players who play alone the gameplay is so similar to RE 4's gameplay and the story lacks from the usual resident evil vibe and the worst thing was Wesker's death like couldn't they just give him a more epic death at least but I liked lost in nightmares though even if the last boss fight wasn't so satisfying. Game is very underrated. Of course it's not that good as previous Resident Evil 4 but it still a great game with great story, good gameplay and that RE atmosphere. Also this game uncovers many mysteries and finishes some important characters stories :)

Also DLC in Spencer's mansion is awesome!

The gameplay it's too rigid and repetitive.
The history and Narrative were okay.

    But i enjoyed this game.

Longer version: After the really good but a bit different Resident Evil 4 I was hyped for the next instalment in the franchise. Because of the mixed fan reviews I was a bit sceptical and waited until the price significantly dropped. I still bought it as I was a fan of the franchise and played all main games and a few spin off games. The game itself is a disappointment as I and a lot of others see it as shooter and not survival horror game. I would even say it is no Resident Evil game or better said does not feel like it. I am not entirely sure if it is as bad as I say because of my expectations and deviations from the established formula or if it is just a bad game (For some this is the same). The story is set a few years after the events of Resident Evil 4 and you play as Resident Evil 1 veteran Chris Redfield who is now an agent of BSAA (Bioterorism Security Assessment Alliance). He and his partner Sheva Alomar are sent to Africa as there is a planned deal with a bio-organic weapon. When they arrive their worst assumptions are surpassed. What follows is a struggle or shoot out for survival. The story is well done in Resident Evil B-movie style. It is enjoyable as always by its franchise standards. Gameplay wise it is a co-op shooter. You control Chris and the AI plays Sheva or you have a friend as second player via split screen (not used it so I cant judge this). New elements are the ability to upgrade weapons anytime (Tip: It refills your ammunition for free), enemies with weapons, item size does not matter anymore (bigger inventory by the way but not limitless), fast weapon changing with the d-pad, an auto save feature and a few other things. The controls work good enough for me. Maybe the aiming could be a bit faster. Remark: For others this was a mayor complain. You can and sometimes must help your partner. Healing sprays by the way work for both players it used when close enough together if I remember correctly. There are also fewer riddles or puzzles than in the previous games. Sadly the quick time events returned from Resident Evil 4. In total I think they slayed to much holy cows of the franchise. It is not bad but not what I expected / wanted or paid for. I wanted more survival horror. I think I must mention the controversy about this game. It was framed as racist. Because it is in Africa the infected enemies are African and the protagonist was a white male. For the first they were of cause African as it is set in Africa. If it were in China the majority would be Chinese. This is just the normal standard demographics. For the protagonist it is natural to use a veteran of previous games as an established character is far more immersive than a new character. I know it sits not well even for me but I think it is not intended to support racism. Maybe they should avoid this in general (They did in future games). Overall I think this is a good shooter but terrible survival horror game. It was not what I expected and it could sadly not win me over. I do not recommend it for Resident Evil fans. Fair warning Resident Evil 6 is also mostly not a survival horror game. Just watch on YouTube the funny song for Resident Evil 6 from miracleofsound (Hammer the button and wiggle the stick;-). Expand

Resident evil 5 is an interesting case where I feel the game doesn't fully know what it wants to be. The first third is straight up a more corridor centric RE4 that is decent at best. The middle is more open and really is the highlight of the game for me. The final third is a roller coaster of quality with some brilliant section but it also tries to jump in on the trend set by gears of warResident evil 5 is an interesting case where I feel the game doesn't fully know what it wants to be. The first third is straight up a more corridor centric RE4 that is decent at best. The middle is more open and really is the highlight of the game for me. The final third is a roller coaster of quality with some brilliant section but it also tries to jump in on the trend set by gears of war 3 years prior and it is a miserable attempt due to the stiffness of the controls which really becomes apparent in these sections. The story of the game is far more connected to the RE universe than 4 and is compelling but none of the characters are standouts like Leon was in RE4. The game has a good variety of environments so the visuals at the very least don't go stale. Pretty much every enemy is similar to RE4's and they function well minus in the cover shooting sections. The boss fights are very hit or miss. 3 of them are great but the rest are absolutely awful. This is an action game not a survival horror one. There's only one section in the game that felt remotely like a survival horror and it was my favorite section in the game. It's not that I hate action I actually prefer action games to survival horror however while this control scheme is perfect for RE4 it is not a fit for a gears of war like game that this game wants to be. It's the indecision in whether to be one or the other but in the end it is neither and the lack of a concrete vision is seen in it's quality. What makes or breaks this game is whether u play in coop or not. If you do it's a good solid game if u don't it is decent at best as the ai isn't the best. The ai in particular is awful at taking cover in those shooting sections leading to much unwanted frustration. Mercenaries returns and is better than in RE4 in my opinion and it comes with the two dlc packs that are two of the best levels in the game. If your playing with a friend there are better but it's a good time but if your playing alone be ready for some potential frustration, worth playing for diehard RE fans but that's about it
