I'm a Resident Evil fan, I played and loved the remakes of Resident Evil that Capcom recently released. I'm especially a big fan of Resident Evil 2 Remake. I'm especially a big fan of Resident Evil 2 Remake. When Resident Evil 4's remake was announced, I was very happy. I had played a little bit of Resident Evil 4 and thought it being remade would be great, but when the remake actually came out, it was too expensive for me to buy so I decided to play the original which I already owned. I played it on my PS4 and really enjoyed it!

First of all, Resident Evil 4 differs from the previous entries in that it goes into a more action focused direction. This is a very risky thing to do for long-running game franchises but Resident Evil 4 still manages to be creepy. The horror of Resident Evil 4 comes from it's action oriented gameplay. Enemies take a pretty long time to kill with early weapons and ammo for better weapons are rare. Being in moments when you have to think outside the box to survive a tough encounter is thrilling and scary. The weapons of the game are very fun to use. Throughout the game, you upgrade and get better versions of weapons which provides that satisfying feeling of progress. The enemies are also very well designed. When you start the game, the first enemies you encounter are pretty tough but aren't too hard to deal with, but they can easily overwhelm you with their numbers if you aren't careful. Enemies get harder and harder as the game progresses, with some enemies having special phases you have to deal with. This adds both variety and challenge to the game which makes playing through it a satisfying experience.

The story feels like it exists to drive the gameplay along and I'm totally fine with that for this game. I think it works well as a thing you keep in the back of your mind while you play through the game. The settings you move through in the story are very pleasing to look at. I always felt like exploring around to find any valuables or supplies. There are documents you can read to get an idea of what's going on but they're not as engaging as the previous games which featured interesting little stories and expanded upon the lore. The characters are very humorous in my opinion. I love them to bits. I love how silly they are. I enjoyed every character interaction, which isn't common.

Overall, Resident Evil 4 is a great game and definitely deserved the remake but the original still holds up to this day, even after the remake's release.

Resident Evil 4 is pretty much as good as gaming gets. It is the pinnacle of action-horror. It was an absolute revolution for 3rd person shooters, action games and gaming in general.

The gameplay is near perfect. The controls are excellent because the whole game is designed around them. The over the shoulder camera keeps the action at the perfect distance. The weapons using laser sights and having so much punch to them. Fast, accurate aiming with just enough weapon sway, inaccuracy and enemy threat to keep you on your toes and trying to hit your shots. The way enemies consistently react to getting shot and the incredibly satisfying head shots. Following up with a kick or suplex. The game just constantly rewards you for playing well. Taking on enemies with just a knife whether it's for fun or to save ammo or to slash projectiles out the air. Watching enemies fall off edges after being shot. Pushing the ladders while enemies try to climb it. Shooting through doors. kicking doors open to damage enemies on the other side. Getting enemies to group together and throwing an incendiary grenade into them. Leaping out windows. The set pieces and bosses. Crowd control. Repositioning when needed and not knowing exactly what's behind you while doing so. Using the environment to your advantage. Getting your head taken off in one horrific hit. The enemy variety. The weapon variety. They somehow made you not hate escorting another character. The list goes on and on and god damn it's all so good. The pacing is so well done as well with the game constantly throwing cool new things at you but also knowing when to slow things down a bit. The developers didn't even stop after creating a brilliant, lengthy, highly re-playable main story, they went and did more. The Mercenaries mode is really addictive. Then there's Separate Ways and unlockables too.

The story, characters, dialogue and cut scenes are ridiculously entertaining and well directed. It's so goofy and fun. God damn it's all so fun, remember FUN. It's like the only questions asked when making this game were - Is it fun? Is it entertaining? Does it play well? Does it fit in? If Yes then put it in the game. It's like they had no fear of risks and were just totally confident in what they were making, which is surprising if you know the story of this games development. The tone and atmosphere is handled perfectly. Seriously how did they do this. The game can be silly and/or over the top one minute and then have no problem being more serious the next. It also can be genuinely creepy at times. Or surreal or bleak. It definitely delivers on the body horror and gore too.

The game looks and sounds top notch as well. It was one of the best looking games available when it came out. The art direction is fantastic. The village is cold, bleak, isolated and hostile with something gruesome around every turn. The castle is surreal, sinister and uncomfortable. It's so opulent and ornate but something is very off about it and there are traps everywhere. It kind of reminds me of the mansion from the RE 1 remake. The Island is grimy, dirty and industrial and does have some great creepy sections but it's visually more generic and forgettable unfortunately. They nailed the character and enemy designs too. The voice acting is exactly what was needed. The enemies sound harsh and scary. The guns hit hard and all the gross noises are spot on. The soundtrack is superb and so are the ambient sounds.

However no game is perfect and Resident Evil 4 is no exception. The worst thing about this game is that it wasn't survival horror and it put an end to Resident Evil being a survival horror franchise as they went down the action-horror path from here on wards. The puzzles are also not the best but I guess really good puzzles would have bogged down this games action focus and pace. The Island is also not as good as the first two locations. I think this is mostly due to the first two areas setting such a high bar, the industrial setting feeling more generic and maybe being a little too action heavy at times. Looking back at the game now I think it did overuse the quick time events as well. As cool and well done as they are it gets a bit much, especially when your on like the 20th play through.

If you have never played it before do yourself a favour and play it now. I highly, highly recommend Resident Evil 4. I still remember buying my collector's edition just after launch, which is still on my shelf, and playing it all day. Then I bought the Wii version and played it to death again. Then the PS3 and then the PS4. I think I am going to be playing this once every five years or so until I die. Some people try to dismiss this game's high praise with statements like "It's just nostalgia" or "You just think old good, new bad." But they are wrong Resident Evil 4 really is just that good. This is what lightning in a bottle looks like. I just wish they put more love into this port.

Resident Evil 4 is an outstanding game with a solid game loop, tense inventory management, and a derelict atmosphere that drew me in. The world is captivating to explore, with five giant landmarks to discover. However, the game dragged near the end due to the sheer amount of content.

One of the downsides of the game is the QTE segments, which can be frustrating. Additionally, the cutscene dialogue and voice acting can be corny and it does detract from the immersion of the game. Another issue is Leon's plot armour. For example, when Sadler kills Luis but Leon is spared for no apparent reason, or when we are in the barn house with Luis and surrounded by zombies but they simply leave us alone. It can break immersion and appear forced.

    Separate Ways - 9/10
Some plot points go unresolved in the main game but are explained in the "Separate Ways" mode, which adds depth to the story. It recontextualized the main game's events, addressed plot points, and teased the next instalment in the series, Resident Evil 5. It was short and sweet.

    Pro Mode - 8.5/10
I skipped all cutscenes and concentrated solely on the gameplay, I ended up pushing both myself and the game mechanics to their breaking point. This is when RE4 felt like a true arcade game and I had a blast!

    Overall - 8/10
Resident Evil 4 is a great game with its fun gameplay loops, tense atmosphere, and captivating world. While it has some flaws such as QTEs, corny dialogue, and plot armour, the overall experience is highly enjoyable and left me wanting more!

The gameplay mechanics are amazing and hold up well especially the graphics which still look good even today, The shooting was revolutionary especially with how it marked the turn of a industry The quick-time-events were okay but not enjoyable when I played it the first time then I played it for the second time and I hated them because of how much button mashing I had to do I even had to use the pen and mash it on the buttons to complete the Salazar statue qte

Ashley wasn’t the worst escort mission I have came across she never assisted although I was able to defend and protect her well enough from the enemies so I never had a problem with her at all.

The game drags on way too long in my opinion it should have stopped at the castle part but it continued to the island which is my least favorite part of the game.

The story was mediocre it was alright although saving the president’s daughter All by yourself without any assistance expect for the few occasions and the cliché antagonist make it not great although the extra story mode separate ways was great The replay value is astounding I have never seen a game where I enjoyed it to it’s absolute fullest till I played this absolutely great

I know this one is irrelevant but the inventory management system in my opinion was better than the other titles and it was satisfying cleaning up and organizing it if anything I spent more time organizing than playing the game Overall 9/10 Good game with some minor downsides story not being survival horror but action focused horror the qtes although it revolutionized the world and holds up for anybody interested in action video games this is a must buy.

Resident Evil 4 is just has good has the previous games, one thing I like is that Capcom have gone in a new direction for this game by getting rid of the camera change style and instead having the game camera right behind Leon, the aiming has changed so that you can now aim in any direction. The locations are just as atmospheric as the previous games and the cut scenes are fantastic to look at. Another new thing about this game is that you are no longer fighting Zombies and Mutants crated by the T-Virus but instead people that have been taken over by Parasites called the Las Plagas.

The game is set some years after the Racoon City incident and Leon S Kennedy is no longer a rookie cop but a agent working for the government, his assignment is to go to Europe and enter a small village near by where the President's kidnapped daughter Ashley may be, when Leon encounters one of the villagers he tries to kill him so after killing the villager more show up wanting to kill Leon, going through the village Leon discovers that something is not right with these people and after find a man named Luis and being knocked by the head of the village he wakes up tied up to Luis then after breaking out Leon continues searching for Ashley and once he finds Ashley in their church he discovers that they are both carriers, since they injected the Parasites eggs into them so then they not only do they have to escape from here but need a way to stop the Parasites before they take control of them and they become like the villagers.

I'm not going to give out anymore of the games plot over wise it will ruin the fun. Resident Evil 4 is a great entry to the franchise and is definitely worth playing. 10/10

    Dear reader,

I liked the plot and the action. It has suspense, too. The drawback, in my opinion, is the camera: when you try to look around, it will automatically turn back to the forward view in a matter of seconds, not giving you the time to observe the surroundings. Another issue is the graphics, which reminds of games at least a decade or even more before RE 4 was made.

The game blends action with survival so well that it effortlessly shifts you from feeling a badass to being vary of every bullet used. At first not being able to move and shoot felt archaic but if you can get over it the feeling of tension created when deciding to move or shoot adds to the atmosphere. While the game mainly consists of exploring solving basic puzzles and dealing with the many creatures that get in your way, the game avoids tedium by giving you many different scenarios, set pieces and boss fights keeps the game feeling fresh throughout its entirety. The mystery and intrique is a mainstay of the resident evil series and resident evil 4 continues this trend by giving you many questions to answer near the beginning and by the end all of these questions will be answered in a satisfying way. The campaign is far longer than the other RE games I've played, but it never gets stale through the variety mentioned above as well as the traditional resie experience. The campaign consists of five chapters that are broken into stage sections. The game takes the RE3 approach of having multiple areas instead of one big area like RE1 and RE2 but unlike in RE3 you spend such a long time in each area that they all create their own identity and are at least half as big as previous games main areas. This allows the game to give you variety in setting but also supply enough depth in each area to make them memorable. The story and characters are also a highlight as wise cracking Leon bounces off every other character brilliantly with smartass quips and other characters enrich the world and returning characters make us wonder what is really going down here. At times you have to escort the president's daughter which sounds like it would be an horrible escort mission. But it's actually not. you have enough control over her to keep her out of trouble and her inclusion allows for unique set pieces to occur making her inclusion a beneficial one. The game also has side content including a side campaign that shows one recurring characters perspective throughout the game as well as a arcade like mode where the objective is to get as many points as possible by killing enemies. This game definitely leans into the action genre but does not forget it's roots and brings them along for the ride creating for me the tied best RE experience so far and one of the greatest games of all time. Very entertaining and well paced RE title. It’s not as scary as the previous games and RE 7 forward but it still maintains the feeling of isolation and overwhelming odds that works so well for the series. Unfortunately, RE 5 and 6 copied this game without understanding why it worked so well.

In terms of puzzles, I only needed once to check on the Web for help. Also, the camera, brought me a feeling of claustrophobia since it limits your point of view (you turn left or right and, after barely a second, it forces you looking ahead).

Another important aspect, for me, is that there are no sexy female heroines with sexy clothes and the like. I prefer when I play a video game to actually play a video game rather than watching something else.

    Eventually, I would recommend it.

On PS Store, when ON OFFER, much cheaper than retail.

If you buy it, have fun. If you don't have fun with something else.

The storyline, like every other game, was really good. Hunting down and saving the presidents daughter. Fighting your way through a new addition to the zombies. A new plague. Using headshots, only to have their heads explode, making them significantly harder!
The change in gameplay made this game much easier for the combat aspect. Being able to see where you're shooting, and aim your gun. Killing zombies became much easier with this new style.
And like all resident evils, the puzzles were still there, making you think to proceed forward. For the longest time, this was my favorite Resident Evil game. It was a hard pick between 3 and 4.

Graphics have taken a slight hit, cleaner but the jaggies have been highlighted due to the HD job so if you are picky on ps2 era graphics been highlighted this may be an issue, another problem is a glitch that despite all this time ALL versions of the HD remaster (even the recent switch version) is an aiming glitch which can be detrimental if not disabled right away (shoot an explosive and your hands go crazy making fine aiming difficult, only way to shut it off is to do the same action again and if nothing to pop is about it will affect fine aim).

If you can get it cheap its worth it if you never played re4 and like your action games, but if you have the older versions (specifically, wii and ps2 which have all content) its a hard sell

Resident Evil 4 is one of the best and most influential action games of all time.

This is the game that ended the classic survival horror era of the first Resident Evil entries. From RE4 onwards, no RE main entry would return to its survival horror roots until RE7, meanwhile Capcom released a bunch of spin-offs such as Revelations but still they never embraced survival horror.

RE4 isn't really a Resident Evil game. Horror gets tossed outta the window and it's more of an action shooter game with a focus on survival. Tank controls still exist in how you move and aim, it's a 3rd person perspective instead of fixed camera angles. There is even a merchant from whom you can buy upgrades and ammo. The enemies are not zombies but mutated humans, they are slow but also carry weapons and often transform into monstrosities. Even the (nonsensical) story has nothing to do with Resident Evil lore, RE4 could easily have been named something else and no one would complain.

But RE4 is still a great game from 2005, even though its admittedly clunky controls and outdated gameplay haven't aged well compared to 2019 standards, it requires some getting to grips with. Enemies can be shot in different points and react differently. You escort Ashley and have to shield her. You survive countless challenging encounters (the introductory fight "welcomes" the players before they even get to grips with the game). The innovative over the shoulder camera later became a staple of games such as Gears of War and many other 3rd person action/shooter games. And the various boss fights are mostly good. Surely RE4 has plenty of "meat", it took me roughly 20 hours to beat it. Some of it was great, some of it was meh, but overall it was good.

On PS4, RE4 runs at 60 fps, but there is some noticeable aliasing around ground textures. Thankfully it's no big problem, but I wish Capcom had worked a bit more on this port.

RE4 is still one of the best games of its generation, but if you haven't played games from that era before you'll be instantly annoyed by the clunky controls and the lack of auto save. It's fine to play on PS4 and even other consoles and PC, but I wish someday Capcom release a true remake of RE4 instead of just another lazy port to the next generation PS5 console. Hopefully now that Capcom are on a good roll and released the RE2 remake, they will keep remaking the old games.

Most of the boss fights are terrifying even though they've made this game more action oriented. One thing that was annoying in the game which made me take one point out was how most of the second half of the game is focused on escorting Ashley out of the village. Gameplay:
This is the game's most appealing aspect. it does take an hour or so to get used to the camera controls, but as the player gets used to the controls, gets better weapons and discovers new tricks on how to dispatch enemies more effectively, the game keeps up with the player by keeping things fresh and challenging throughout the 16hour campaign. The pace of the game and the variety of enemies along with the interesting situations the player finds himself in plays a key part in keeping the player engaged throughout the experience.
The weapons are another key element that makes this game excellent. There are plenty of weapons and weapon upgrades, and it's up to the player to choose which weapons to buy and upgrade. None of the weapons are really necessary to beat the game but the player will likely end up buying one of every type(a handgun, a shotgun etc.)
By beating the game the player unlocks a new mode and a new gun (will keep this a secret!) with infinite ammo.
There are also 2 extra campaigns that come along with this version that tell the story from a different character's perspective.
Needless to say, this is a lot of value for $20 if you haven't played this game yet.

    Story:
Cheesy fun with creepiness and humor, not the highlight of the game but adds positively to the experience.

    Graphics:
it's what you expect from a game from the gamecube/ps2 era, however, the art and character models hold up very well.

Awesome remaster of awesome game. RE4 was my favorite game on PS2, and I have lot of fun play that again in 1080p and 60fps. Some cr@p - game has not platinum trophy. Sad story, bro (

Resident Evil 4 (PS4) is a masterpiece: a loving remaster of arguably the best game of the sixth generation of consoles. Expect engaging, action-packed and varied gameplay with RPG elements, an excellent story (that requires zero knowledge of other Resident Evil titles), as well as assorted additional modes such as the incredibly entertaining 'Mercenaries' and a 2nd storyline from theResident Evil 4 (PS4) is a masterpiece: a loving remaster of arguably the best game of the sixth generation of consoles. Expect engaging, action-packed and varied gameplay with RPG elements, an excellent story (that requires zero knowledge of other Resident Evil titles), as well as assorted additional modes such as the incredibly entertaining 'Mercenaries' and a 2nd storyline from the point of view of supporting character Ada. Graphically the game still looks great today, with mostly great textures, framerates and impressive draw-distances.

This classic stands as my all-time favourite game (narrowly beating Persona 5) and is definitely a must-buy for any PS4 owner!

Resident Evil 4 is one of the best in the series. I remember playing it on ps2 and i loved it and it became one of my all time favorite games i then recently picked it op for ps4 and instantly remembered why i liked it so much in the first place. The game still has all its perks from the ps2 version but with better graphics. It's a classic game with better visuals what more could you wish for.

Veterans should hold onto their hard-earned pesetas for a future budget buy. If you’re a newbie to the series it’s ok to buy it at a high price, stranger. [December 2016, p81]

This version aims only for the one or two persons in the world that haven’t played the game yet. Besides the 1080p resolution and the 60 fps framerate, it is still a lazy port.
  3. Resident Evil 4 is still a great experience. It still is one of the best entries of the whole Resident Evil franchise. 1080p and 60 FPS turns the game into a smooth thriller even if it is still not a full remake.
