It looks like we should demand a refund with CAPCOM for the unnecessary “Resident Evil Resistance”.

Capcom ought to be ashamed of themselves, Charging $60.00 for this, it's extremely short and they used most of the settings from the original game, it's worth $39.00 tops and $19.99 on sale.

An average shooter, a terrible Resi evil game and an absolute rip off for a 4-6 hours game.

RE3 original were terrifying and that nemesis had me on jumpscares and goosbumps the whole game. The game had great level design and details also great sound effects. I just played the original RE3 about a year ago to remember how amazing that game was and its holding until this day for being one of the best horror survival game of all times just like the original RE.

This RE3 Remake has nothing of what made the original great. Nemesis is a child joke here. The game is more action than survival. There is no soul to the game. They made it fast without thinking just for easy cash grab. I guess Crapcom still Crap....

    They stuffed this.

Why is the gore censored compared to RE2R? (limbs no longer fall off Zombies?) Too much of the game is on rails. 4 hours in and it's scripted set-piece after another. There's none of the freedom of exploration we had in RE2 Remake. In that game, there was enough in the police station segments to be enjoyable, where you could tackle most of the objectives in any order you wanted. And Mr X was at least an attempt at a boss that dynamically stalks you. I expected they would have built upon this foundation with Nemesis, where he stalks you throughout the city while you are trying to avoid him and get **** done.

RE3 railroads you from start to finish and every Nemesis encounter is scripted. So replay ability is out the window or any chance of surprise encounters during a 2nd play through. It's predictable, too.

They're dialing back the original formula again and are bringing it more in line with RE6 on rails shooter **** which I loath.

To Capcom: Keep your games in development for longer if you have to if it means you can deliver a fully fleshed out experience. Rushing out a game; especially a highly anticipated and loved game such as RE3 will not do you favors in the long run. As a long time fan of the series, and as someone who enjoyed RE2R last year; this was a disappointment and I'll be more hesitant to purchase your future titles.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

MY BIGGEST PROBLEM with this remake is that if feels like they took more out of game compared to the original and it feels rushed and empty. In a remake I feel like they need to add more not take more out.

+ Nemesis feels more like a treating than ever in terms of strength, and speed.
+ The power station bug section is amazing and unique and the game needed a lot more of those sections.
+ The dodging mechanic is back and it feels good when you get it right! A very good add to this game.
+++ The end game timer does not count the cut-scenes & the cinematic moments
+/- First of all the game is too short but that has never been a problem for the RE series BUT it is here because there are no branching paths that make you want to play the game again.
+ Changing Jill's design makes more sense because the original tube top and mini shirt just don't make sense.
---NO RE-PLAYABILITY (harder modes do not count)
-The puzzles are too easy to the point where it is embarrassing.
-This game sacrificed having a big city to explore to becoming something that felt empty and horribly linear. There are too many landmarks in the city missing, No clock tower (mostly), No Raccon Park, No graveyard, No gas station, No newspaper building, No Mayor statues. No construction sites (not really). The game did not feel like a city if felt like 2 blocks of a town and that is a huge problem.
    - The story was so poorly written and that pacing felt so rushed that characters never got a chance to have the interactions they needed for the story to feel right.
    - The original game has these quick time events where you had to make decisions that really effected game play and enhanced re-playability and because that was neglected that game feels linear and empty.
    - Missing enemies like giant worm, Grave digger and spider
    - No mulp endings.

I just want to be honest this game is NOT a 0 but it is NOT a 10 by any means.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had too many isssues with the game.

    The negative:
    - They cut to much content, it is not near to The original game on ps1. Many areas are gone and some monsters and boss flights are erased - level design is poor and linear. Racoon city in the original game feels more open world.
    - almost no puzzles
    - nemesis is too easy on hardcore mode, one handgranade takes him down.
    - nemesis envolves to a dog, such a bad decision. - dodge should have been replaced with defensive items
    - too much action, there is not enough mistery, and survival horror.

    Positive
    - good character development
    - Nice graphics

Overall, they should have just copied the whole level design and maps from the original game but with better graphics. It would havee been a better game, if theh kept everything from the original game. Copy paste would have worked better. This game gets low grade because they forgot to Copy paste the original game. I really hope this will end capcom.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I paid essentially £12.50 for it and I was still dissapointed. That's roughly twice the price of a standard DLC pack which is essentially what it is. At least 50% of the content is recycled, even the animation for the vaccine machine! If I had paid £60 I'd be asking for a refund. That's why my review score is so low. Redeeming factors are Jill, Jill's ass during prone scenes, Jill cutscenes, Jill and Jill. Nemesis went from awesome to ridiculousness in less than an hour. If he can survive being actually disintegrated in acid he better be coming back in a later game after being nuked. Also considering the fact it was an air detonated nuke and he was underground in a lab that's just poor writing. I actually found 1and 2 believable. I can't excuse 3, maybe 22 years ago? Now now, and certainly not for £60. I have to rate this at it's RRP not what I paid. 4/10. Expand

It's hard to call Resident Evil 3 a remake, there's so much missing content it's more of a reimagining than a remake. Overall the game feels unfinished if you've played the original 1999 release of Resident Evil 3. Capcom set the standard for what a remake should be with the Resident Evil Remake release on GameCube back in 2002. A remake is supposed to recreate the original game and EXPAND on the story arcs and lore. Not remove it entirely! What's missing:

-No live selection system (which KILLS replayability). This was a huge feature of RE3 where you made your own choices throughout the game. Kind of like pick a path.
    -No clock tower section.
    -No Raccoon Park section.
    -No cemetery section.
    -No gravedigger worm battle.
-No dead factory section, so we have yet **another** secret underground umbrella lab. How trite.
-Nemesis sections often feel more like I'm watching a movie than playing a game. The fabulous Mr. X stalking mechanics from Resident Evil 2 Remake are NOT implemented here with Nemesis.
    -No spiders.
    -No freeze rounds.
    -Greatly reduced puzzle sections.
-*SPOILERS* No Barry flying the chopper in the end so it's like his character has been erased from the lore (speaking of the ending the nuclear bomb strike was completely watered down and utterly KILLED the emotional impact of seeing Raccoon City destroyed that the original game showcased. You were actually left feeling sad at the end of the original, but I just felt ripped off at the end of this so called "remake".

What they did actually include in the game I absolutely loved. The first hour of the game is fantastic although the mesmerizing FMV of the PlayStation original which showcases the zombies overrunning the city has been completely watered down and gives the zombie apocalypse far less impact. It has been replaced by a cheaply made and jarring live action movie using real actors. There's just too much ripped out of the original game for me to think this was a worthy effort. It feels like an extended DLC for RE2 Remake. Overall I'm disappointed at Capcom. The game feels like a rushed cash grab and is a heartbreaking missed opportunity to have created something really, really special with the new implementation of a live selection system especially.

Is the game's gore censored? I can't shoot limbs off of zombies. The game is also too linear, there's almost no freedom to explore like the re2 remake and the original games. The QTE feels so forced and out of place and ruined the final boss. Nemesis NEVER shows up without a cutscene or some kind of forced quick-time event sequence. This wasn't what I was expecting. One of the Worst parts of the Nemesis character is the final encounter...u don't lure the antagonist in front of a giant gun...you just press a button and the game's cutscene destroys it for good. You can even take him out with a grenade!!!! He's that easy. The whole was easy.
The second worst thing is the pacing...the game is JUST TOO SHORT. It's shorter than the original.
Not entirely bad, it's rich in graphics, environment and tone, game mechanics and new enemies and enjoyable action game. Unfortunately, this is mostly a recycled game not worth $60, I enjoyed Resident Evil 5 more than this.
Now the very that gives me flashbacks of Dante from 2013's Devil May Cry: Jill Valentine. Jill had a great voice actor but was boring as hell in this game, she went from cute but resourceful go-getter who has deep empathy for others but will kick your ass if she has to a one-dimensional hard-ass who swears like a sailor and takes no crap. She has a couple of moments of levity, especially with Carlos which is nice but she's just tough and stoic, generally boring and unsympathetic telling Nemesis to suck it. I find most of her badassery feels forced and cringe. I thought RE5 Jill was bad but this is even worse, she is now an all-powerful badass who can carry a large rail gun despite being in a smaller thin buddy. I hope the Jill picking up the railgun thing becomes a meme like Chris punching that boulder in RE5.
All in all, I want my $60 bucks back.

The zombie and monster Artificial intelligence is really bad, zombies would attack the walls insted of me.

The gore has been downgraded. The limbs of the zombies explode insted of falling off.
Mr. X was quite fun and a challenge, Nemesis is scripted and easy to take down.

Numerous part of the original game were cut off: clock tower, park, gas station, etc. Making the game super short even if is your first time playing it. It took me 4 hours to finish it.

For a zombie game it lacks of Zombies. Resident evil 2 remake had a lot of enemies roaming around the 4 stages, but in resident evil 3 for a freaking city there is no zombies at all.

There are no puzzles, that's a trade mark of the series.

It's garbage it is as ash grab.

Capcom added irrelevant REsistance to sell it on fullprice. And they will milk REsistance mode with boosters, skins etc.
Music in campaign also not working on the atmospherethat was so neat and creepy in the original. And Nemesis nothing but joke because he not the iconic villain but just some poor animal and victim of scientists of Umbrella. Just few good things in the game: Carlos and his R.P.D. and Hospital segment, new appearance of Jill work of actors in overall. But this isn't enough for game that wear proud name Resident Evil 3. Capcom, make remake of this remake or your next game in this franchise will flop.

This game utterly fails as a remake. There's so much cut content, so much changed, that it's hardly RE3. Nemesis is underutilized and completely different from the original, to the point that I hesitate to call him Nemesis.

I don't like how Jill acts, and I'm not referring to her abrasive tone, but more that she's constantly making quips and snarky remarks during fights. It just doesn't make sense considering the game starts and immediately implies she has PTSD from the events of RE1.
As a game, it's fun enough. It's incredibly short and very light on content though. There's very few bonus costumes and there's no extra modes beyond more difficulties.
In the end, the game felt very rushed and lacked the polish of RE2, on top of inexplicably being 80% different from the original game.
Very disappointing, especially when compared to the RE1 and RE2 remakes.

But is the 60$ price tag justified? No, not even close (disregarding the Project Resistance thingy that shoved down our throats with the game, I didn't even download it).
in my honest opinion as a fan of the franchise if you are buying this package only for RE3, I'd advice to wait until the price drops to 30~40$, this game is worth playing and pretty fun even to replay multiple times. if you gonna play Project Resistance too, then all power to you and the price of 60$ is a bit easier to gulp in that case.

They should have taken advantage of that element that was already present in 2 Remake.
Anyway, Nemesis is just an excuse for action scenes. You just need to press forward and sometimes use the dodge than you will never die. He's MUCH inferior to Mr. X. And, unlike Mr. X, Nemesis IS the heart of Resident Evil 3.
It does not stop there. In addition to taking the heart of the Resident Evil 3 Original, they also cut landscapes, scenery and especially all the puzzles in the original game.
For all this, it is a game that is only worth buying when you have a discount and a nice discount. Despite being fun and good, it is very short and disappointing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There was a time when the fans argued about the camera angles on the remakes, being completely trusting that the original source would be respected and built upon as they did with RE1. Well little did we know they had alot more in mind that they wanted to change and erase.

Whilst it was a nice touch for them to introduce the original soundtrack throughout the game, it completely fell short when it came to the story, how it played and the length.

It is no secret that the original was a short game but the pacing of it made up for it with the massive replayability due to the choice sequences, the pacing of the remake is just terrible and you have no choices this time around. You're in different locations and the story has moved on within minutes.

They messed it up almost instantly by launching the biggest threat into the mix in the opening sequence. That is just not how it played out. Jill was supposed to make her way through the streets where she would eventually face off Nemesis at the RPD station. This was all completely erased, including the iconic scene with Brad's death (I was so looking forward to see what they would do with that with the technology they now have.)

The story was changed far too much, they cherry picked parts from the original and created what we are supposed to class as the official telling of events. What they did with Nemesis forms is unforgivable, they turned him into a dumb rabid dog. It's still a good action game but it could have been released as a DLC for 2, with a new character being pursued by an all new tyrant. This game was not Resident Evil 3 and it's an enormous disservice to the fans to release what they have - a souless cash grab.

RE2 was not perfect but it kept the essence of what made the original so great and the story stayed in line for the most part. Why they decided to change direction after the success of that is beyond me. Without any pun intended but it's time Capcom stop biting off more than they can chew. Terrible remake but decent shooter.

But the difference is, there are more enemies, enemies and items are randomised, enemies more stronger (Inferno you die with one hit and less saves) and not to mention Nemesis isn’t a joke then, he’s a lot faster and stronger and I mean faster as in run up to you within a second, he does a one hit kill which means you got to dodge everything! This is the key for nightmare onto Inferno, you have to dodge! Stuff the original, this is a completely different game and people are forgetting that this is not going to have everything the same as that would be completely pointless in remaking it! Are people stupid? Also It wasn’t short, all Resident evil games are the same rough length! I also spoke to Nicole, Jills voice in an interview and she stated that they have been making this for years! Who cares if Raccoon park wasn’t in this or there wasn’t much puzzles. This version of the game isn’t about that, it’s about getting the hell away from nemesis and surviving. The game makes sense and answers stuff that ain't answered in the original, this is a story about Jill and giving her an actual purpose she wants to save the city not just herself! It gave more to the characters and their story and they have actual personalities. Puzzles ain’t important not in this game and how it’s meant to be and plus most of them are so unreal which is why they are not put in this, you think Jill has time for aiming her laser to a mirror to get a door open, no! It’s unrealistic and stupid. This game makes more sense especially as it’s SURVIVAL HORROR like Jill has time for puzzles. The original was just something they put together to try something new. If you hate it then whatever go and play the original, it’s not gone anywhere and still exists. Can’t you appreciate anything? Like I said, you want a challenge then go and actually try by playing Inferno and Nightmare mode. The game ain’t a joke and you will die trying. I mean like 50 time’s in a boss fight if you can’t dodge. I loved the game and it gave everything a reason, Resident Evil 2 remake I hated, cringe voice acting and Claire looking weird and stuff nothing made sense. This explains things like the original didn’t. Another thing I want to say for the ones who wanted Nemesis more, you think doing puzzles and running around with him on your back for this game mechanic will work? No because of how much he would just be punching you and stuff. It wouldn’t work. If you want to actually fight in the game and get frustrated and play for longer and get the REAL experience then do it on the different difficulties! Expand

It was an action oriented experience which many fans disliked at the time. This remake was a chance to strike a tonal balance between the series' identity as Survival-horror and the Action-oriented nature of the original game. Unfortunately this remake failed and the result is a poorly paced, tonally inconsistent entry to the series which will fall short of the majority of consumers expectations. In the opening hours it becomes clear that Resident Evil 3 remake lacks the significant maze-like level design that made the previous two entries to the series; Resident Evil 7 (RE7) and last years remake; Resident Evil 2 (RE2R), such a joy to explore. Instead players will here find a title which quickly becomes a linear experience ridden with set pieces with no need for the player to consider planning a route. Expectations regarding this title's main antagonist, Nemesis, were understandably high after experiencing the harrowing encounters with the villains Jack Baker and Mr X in previous games. Unfortunately the emergent gameplay many were hoping for is mostly absent from this title. Nemesis is largely relegated to highly scripted sequences and the generic boss fights reminiscent of weaker Resident Evil titles. There's a reason why this remake isn't given the full title of it's source material. Many fans deciding whether or not to pick up this remake will be anxious to know whether their favourite parts of the original game made the cut. Well, unlike last years remake, this title fails to take the majority of it's source material and reproduce it in a faithful fashion. Large sections of the original game, enemies and a boss fight have been cut from this remake. This could be forgiven were it not for the game's pitiful runtime. Last year's remake managed to take it's original's run time and significantly increase it to meet modern expectations without it ever feeling padded. Most players got at least 13 hours out of RE2R without having to consider starting a true second playthrough. People's expectations were therefore high for this game and, when combined with the 60 dollar price tag, are justified in expecting a campaign comparable to the likes of RE2R. Unfortunately this remake fails to significantly extend it's campaign beyond the length of the original to something modern audiences have come to expect. At just 7 hours for an initial playthrough this title really stretches our ideas about the subjective value one can put on a game.

This is perhaps why Capcom have bundled this title with a buggy, unbalanced multiplayer mode in the form of Resident Evil: Resistance. It is important to note that extra modes seen in previous Resident Evil titles have never before had to justify the lack of content in their single player modes, the latter of which being the main reason most people buy these games. Had it been given another year of development this title could have been the remake everyone was expecting. Unfortunately, despite glossy visuals the game manages to be underwhelming in terms of level design, Nemesis encounters, faithfulness to the original, campaign duration and value for money. Consumers should wait for a sale when considering purchasing this game which should really have been sold as 30 dollar DLC for last year's excellent RE2R.

In addition, one of the greatest villains of all time in games has been reduced to an non intimidating threat, completely scripted and with a less imposing look. It's really a shame, but this Remake was nowhere near as grand as it could be, following RE2 Remake, its great predecessor. It's not a bad game, it has fluidity and graphic beauty and it's fun, especially for those who don't know the original classic version, but as a Remake, it fails miserably. I hope Capcom, my favorite game company, receives more negative and constructive feedback to learn from their mistakes.

Resident evil 3: Nemesis was the first RE game I ever played growing up. I rented it from a local game store and that was when I found my passion for horror games/zombies/Resident Evil. I beat the original RE3 about 5 times before returning it to the game store. I later bought and played Resident evil 2 from the original PlayStation, an absolute masterpiece. Finally I made my wayResident evil 3: Nemesis was the first RE game I ever played growing up. I rented it from a local game store and that was when I found my passion for horror games/zombies/Resident Evil. I beat the original RE3 about 5 times before returning it to the game store. I later bought and played Resident evil 2 from the original PlayStation, an absolute masterpiece. Finally I made my way backwards to Resident Evil, the first of the series. Absolutely loved it. Now, jump forward to the GameCube era. Resident evil 1 remake, I was beyond excited to play it. I bought it and immediately took it home and played it into the wee hours of the morning. I was in love with this series and the remake only heightened my love and appreciation for it. Sure, it had its flops (in my opinion) survivor wasn't the greatest, some of the rail shooters are meh. However, I've enjoyed almost every numbered entry in the series (though it wasn't numbered, I also loved Outbreak).

Fast forward again to the announcement that Resident Evil 2 was getting a full remake from the ground up. I was over the moon excited. The small trailer that released a long while after that showing us the mouse ( a little nod to something for fans of the series) running about in a small room and a zombie innocently gnawing on a man's neck. I couldn't believe how much love went into that small trailer and the remake of RE2 overall. They expanded on many small things, made small bit meaningful changes to the areas and gameplay. However, it was largely the same game, just made with a more modern audience in mind.

Naturally I assumed and hoped we would hear about a Resident Evil 3 remake, much to my non surprise, we got the announcement in late 2019 and I was wildly excited. It was the first game I ever played in the Resident Evil series and is still to this day my favorite Resident Evil game.

When I finally got my hands on the Resident Evil 3 remake, I was ecstatic, I couldn't believe the game that started if all for me was now sitting in my PlayStation 4 installing. I eagerly waited for the game to be ready to play. Finally, I saw the install complete popup and I have never smashed a button so fast to open the game. What followed that was roughly 6.5 hours of me trying to convince myself that the remake did what it did to appeal to a modern audience and the massive content cuts were probably for story reasons. I beat the remake of RE3, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I felt a bit hollow inside.

I know, it sounds sad that a game can have such a negative affect on my feelings, but it's the game in the series that sparked a lifelong passion for the genre. I felt like I had seen nothing of Raccoon city, not like you'd seen it on the original. Nemesis felt rushed, he felt like more of a small annoyance than a looming threat at key moments. I didn't like his makeover, the bent nose look just made me laugh at him, his first transformation happens FAR too early in the game (in my opinion), they underutilized his more humanoid appearance, they removed any trace of the tendrils that would sprout from his body once you injured him enough and the parasite started to show itself more, they removed the clocktower, they removed so many Raccoon city streets areas, the Brad Vickers scene was so short I barely had time to give a **** because I figured I'd see him later before he eats a Nemesis tentacle, the Nest 2 replacing the dead facility for the final location just seemed so boring to me, I was sad they removed multiple choice moments that did serve to prolong the story and make me replay the game multiple times just to see how certain scenarios played out, drain Deimos in the remake are a horrible misfire and serve as nothing more than a one time annoyance. The list of grievances I have with the game is extensive and I am actually so sad with how poorly handled this remake was.

YES these are just my thoughts so please don't get angry if you personally liked the remake. It had some good qualities, however, they just didn't make up for enough when it comes down to it. It pains me to give this game such a low rating, but I think Capcom should have given this game a lot more love and respect to the original content.

This game lost all of the exploration factor that added dynamism to the gameplay of the game, much of the game are cutscenes that are no longer exciting after a first or second gameplay, classic enemies have been removed, striking and interesting stretches have been removed from the game as well as Clock Tower and the cemetery. Raccoon Uptown and Downtown have been drastically reduced to a linear route of gameplay that have taken a good time exploring the city. The gameplay and graphics of the game are great but not enough to make up for the plot changes.

There are several factors in the game that feel rougher than in the previous remake (Resident Evil 2), among those aspects is the inventory sistem that feels a less worse than Resident Evil 2, another task is the main character's (Carlos Oliveira and Jill Valentine)behavior in some parts of the game making jokes like Jill is a heart cold Girl. To finish my review it is impossible not to talk about the final fight with Nemesis that was a downgrade with the gameplay mechanics , the truth is that they could not complete it as much as they wanted due to the lack of time to publish the game. On top of that they seem to have started the game partway through after you meet Carlos. Ok, they added some stuff into the hospital and another nest, but I didn’t think they were all that.

They also changed the game to be linear and too action-heavy. Yes, the original was more action-Y than the 2nd but it wasn’t combat focused. There was no need to shoot zombies or kill nemesis outside of boss fights.

The original took me about 10 or so hours the first time. This took me about 4 or 5. I’m sorry but it’s a crap remake. Maybe it's a good game more broadly if you know nothing about the original. But it’s lost all of its personality.

After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
