Redemption Reapers is a good tactical RPG and borrows many of the genre's best and most solid mechanics, as well as taking us on a dark journey through an ancient world ravaged by doom and hopelessness. However, the narrative fails to truly engage us, the visuals betray themselves and only the soundtrack is saved from any disappointments. It still works well, but it offers little, for novices and veterans alike.

A gritty and gory tactical RPG, Redemption Reapers has a few good things going for it, but ultimately the unbalanced difficulty and lack of engaging narrative may put many players off.

Redemption Reapers is a passable strategy RPG with a focus on tight squad-based tactics that’s probably too simple for genre veterans. Its campaign is disappointingly dull and does nothing to pull your attention away from its forgettable squad and stilted animations.

Redemption Reapers took the relentless pessimism as its core tenet and pushed it as far it would go. Many stories would have heroes rise from the ashes like a Phoenix, in here The Ashen Hawks have a saying “Burn away your fear…and survive among the ashes” which easily alludes to they’re what remains after hope has left. This murky defeatist outlook at survival provides consistent entertainment with its harrowing combat and great soundtrack, but ultimately leaves players with a grave taste in their mouths due to the bleak subject matter. Taking something this dark and not taking it far enough to have truly invested characters or plot is a shame. It is fun to see the lengths a dark theme like this will go, but there’s little light to be found beyond the thrills of surviving to fight another day.

Redemption reapers is a tactical grid based RPG with a dark and mature look. Your party of 5 will battle the 'Mort' during the 20 to 25 hour long main campaign, these opponents look similar to the enemies in the Lord of the rings movies. Graphically it looks good during gameplay and cutscenes considering this is not a triple-A title. All characters are fully voiced, and the voice actors do a great job. The soundtrack is some of the best around. I really enjoyed a lot of the music during missions and the ones played in between chapters. Gameplay wise, this is a team based strategy RPG where careful placement is necessary. The early chapters may be difficult if you do use the proper approach to battles. As the game progresses, skirmishes are unlocked where you can level up your party further if needed. Money and resources are scarce, especially at the start of the game, but become manageable at later stages. If you are looking for a mature and dark story combined with a great combat system and a killer soundtrack, look no further. Expand

-The game is shallow at best. A severe lack of story, characters, setting.
    -The mechanics are bare bones.
-Don't expect difficulty options and don't think you can grind to overcome it, it starts hard, stays hard, weapons degrade faster than you can make money to repair them. You're entirely locked out of levelling at some points so if you progress past them and can't beat that chapter - too bad.

Very disappointed from what was a promising game. Wait until it's at least half price before considering purchasing.
