Great story, graphics and immersive world, but has some extremely annoying forced LARP features, such as slow animations for picking stuff up and doing things (yeah, immersive at first, but gets really boring on the long run watching your character to use 10 seconds to pick up a bottle of rum), disabling running at certain places just to waste time, very tedious semi-interactive cut scenesGreat story, graphics and immersive world, but has some extremely annoying forced LARP features, such as slow animations for picking stuff up and doing things (yeah, immersive at first, but gets really boring on the long run watching your character to use 10 seconds to pick up a bottle of rum), disabling running at certain places just to waste time, very tedious semi-interactive cut scenes where all you have to do is to press forward for five minutes. Why not just have a real cut scene or let the player control the character?

I understand that some people want to LARP a cowboy, but normal people are not interested in that. They just want to play the game.

Also lots of stupid progression based locked stuff. Why allow players to earn money if you don't allow them to buy anything with it. And still in 2023 contains lots of annoying bugs, e.g. changing your weaponry randomly and not allowing you access your horse to get the right ones back.

Without LARPing and bugs a solid 10/10

There's not a whole lot to do in the baren open world, besides a few side quests, hunting, or fishing, which feels rather pointless. Set in the vast open-world landscape of the American Wild West, the game promised an immersive and thrilling experience. While many praised the game's stunning graphics, detailed narrative, and character development, there is a growing sentiment among some players that the gameplay itself falls short of expectations. In this article, we will explore the reasons why Red Dead Redemption 2 can be perceived as lacking in excitement and why it may be considered boring by some.

    1. Pacing and Repetitive Activities

One of the primary complaints about Red Dead Redemption 2 is its slow pacing and the abundance of repetitive activities. The game's realistic portrayal of the Wild West might have been intended to immerse players fully, but it often feels like a burden. Endless horse riding across vast landscapes, maintaining the camp's needs, and completing mundane chores for the gang can become monotonous and tedious after a while. Although realism is important in a game, it shouldn't come at the expense of engaging gameplay.

    2. Limited Interactivity in the Open World

Despite the expansive and visually impressive open world, the level of interactivity with it is surprisingly limited. Players may expect to engage in various dynamic activities, but many of the in-game events feel scripted and lack meaningful consequences. While there are random encounters and side quests scattered throughout the world, the majority of these interactions are rather superficial, failing to leave a lasting impact on the overall gameplay experience.

    3. Clunky Controls and Mechanics

Some players have criticized the clunky and often frustrating controls and mechanics of Red Dead Redemption 2. Maneuvering the main character, Arthur Morgan, can feel sluggish and imprecise, particularly during intense combat sequences. Additionally, the game's complex systems, such as weapon management, item crafting, and horse handling, can be overwhelming, leading to a steeper learning curve and potentially deterring casual players.

    4. Limited Player Agency

While the game's narrative is well-crafted and emotionally charged, it can also be quite linear, leaving little room for player agency. The choices available to the player often have minimal impact on the overall story, leading to a sense of disconnection from the character's progression. A more open-ended approach to the narrative could have added a layer of excitement and replayability to the game.

    5. Lack of Meaningful Rewards

Red Dead Redemption 2's focus on realism extends to the rewards system, which can feel unrewarding for players seeking a sense of accomplishment. Completing missions and side quests may not always yield substantial rewards, leaving players feeling like their efforts are not adequately recognized. A more balanced reward structure that incentivizes player progress could have made the gameplay more satisfying.

    Conclusion

While Red Dead Redemption 2 received critical acclaim for its storytelling, world-building, and attention to detail, it's essential to acknowledge that it may not cater to everyone's preferences in terms of gameplay. The slow pace, repetitive tasks, limited interactivity, clunky controls, lack of player agency, and unsatisfying rewards system contribute to the perception of boredom for some players. Ultimately, the game's appeal largely depends on individual tastes, with some players finding the immersive experience captivating, while others may consider it lacking in excitement.

TBH after several hours of gameplay the game seems kinda boring. Too many systems to learn, too many shortcuts to memorize. I don't really care about the characters and the story.
However the most annoying thing is the rockstar launcher that is launched by the epic launcher. So there are 2 launchers starting just to play the game.

The hunting mechanics (not touched by reviewers in the slightest, but more so by completionists) are completely luck-based and the '10 out of 10' scores likely come from people with only 1 or 2 playthroughs (I myself, as some reinforcement of credentials, have 603 hours as of writing this review, and 100% completion). Despite it's seriously gripping, and no doubt 10/10 story, rockstar games clearly new that the reviewers, IGN for example, and people that actually matter within the community of gaming, would do the bare minimum and only play through the story once and assemble an effortless review, as was done time and time again with the most dry and overrated game of the century, GTA V, focusing too much on satire and exaggeration of characters, instead of an actually gripping story, which yet still received a 96 on this platform itself. Going for 100% completion a second time, hunting, in vain, I realised that I should review this game for what it is: a game focused only on story and realism, instead of letting people who actually commit to the game enjoy it. 4/10 gameplay, 10/10 everything else, so like a 5 out of 10 overall considering that gameplay is actually more important than whatever the hell rockstar likes to focus on. However, the game's pacing can be a bit slow at times, with long stretches of travel time or side quests that don't always feel necessary. Additionally, the controls can be a bit clunky and difficult to master, especially when it comes to horse riding or gunfights.

Overall, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must-play for fans of open-world games or Westerns. Its stunning visuals and immersive story make it an unforgettable experience, even with its flaws. However, the game's pacing and control issues prevent it from reaching the heights of perfection, resulting in a solid 7/10 rating.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have just finished the main storyline and I really ask myself where all the hype comes from. Gameplay wise it is pretty bland: ride to location x, wait for „everything goes south cutscene“ and shoot your way home. I was prepared for that and I thought to myself „at least everyone says it has a great story“ and played anyway.

But the story is just your generic „antihero struggles with his lifestyle and tries to be a good guy“ storyline. Over hours and hours you play the exact same thing with no real progression of the storyline. The story picks up pace in the last third of the game but the surprising revelations are not that surprising at all and I cannot understand at all why almost everyone is calling it a masterpiece? Have you watched a movie in the last 25 years? Then there’s a good chance, you have a huge overlap in story tropes

Your character's group quickly become your shackles, even conversations with them get overly repetitive and dull. Your character too, is dull - not the bad but fun criminal I wanted him to be. Disappointing how you cannot access the other half of the map (Red Dead 1) until the very end when it feels pointless to continue. Arthur was a cool character. Landscape and map is stunning, albeit unrealistic in certain ways, as it is essentially a miniature USA, wile the original game was just one, big desert, which made more sense. The ‘survival’ mechanics are shallow and unnecessary. Same with the camp mechanics and camp donations. Police have eyes everywhere, somehow, and it’s impossible to stay hidden or avid them no matter how secluded you are. Rockstar, it’s the 1800s! The way John reminisces about his past in RDR1 does not line up well with what happens in this story. John almost seems like a character carrying the same importance as Sean, a minor character, and the unnecessary comedic relief. Everything was wrong about John; down to his character model. He looks like Arthur Jr., lol. This game strives for realism, but only accomplishes it in certain regards, ans completely fails in other, making the game unrealistic in general.

Overall, decent game, with beautiful vistas and surroundings, stale and tedious gameplay, outdated game design, a redundant overflow of characters, an initially gripping, but eventually uninspired, tedious and repetitive story.

The issue that I have with this game is the gameplay... too large, slow and like a new version of tank controls. Massive disappointment in the gameplay department.

I found the realism confusing: sometimes it was required to shoot people in the head (missions) other times you get in a lot of trouble with the law when you do the same thing. In the end I gave it up.

The opening 2-3 hours are just tedious, consisting largely of hold down ‘X’ to slowly follow people through the snow listening to stories about events that sound far more interesting than what you’re doing. When you do actually see a bit of action, you’ll find the controls to be as clunky as they always are in Rockstar Games, making shoot-outs far less exciting than they should be.

I’m sure there’ll be people saying I should have given this game longer, but if the developers aren’t able to grab my interest in four hours of gaming that’s their fault, not mine.

So-so western game. The history is common, not weak, but didn't hooked me. Sadie Adler is obviously the best character of the game, but only the stupid male characters had the spotlights. I log on very often excited to play once again in this very realistic open-world game. There are many pros and cons to this game. One pro being this game is very lived-in. But one con being too much immersion. Now, don't get me wrong, immersion is great but sometimes it pushes it too far. For instance, if you want to loot dead bodies it's a 3-second animation to loot a single NPC. This is fine until you shoot a bunch of O'driscolls at a camp and decide to loot them. It takes a solid 2 and a half minutes looting a couple of bodies. Another con would be the weapons. The weapons themselves are great, but cleaning them every time you shoot something can get quite annoying. I'm quite sure there are plenty more problems with immersion, but I'm not going to list them all In this little text box. The story overall is great. But if you played the first game you pretty much know what the ending will be. The entirety of Rdr1 was about hunting down old gang members like dutch. You learn that such betrayed the gang in Rdr1 so the first ending was quite predictable. The honor system is probably the worst thing I've ever seen. You can go on a bloody murder spree in Saint-Denis and then lose all of your honor and then greet some folk on the street and regain your horrible reputation. Earning money is hard compared to GTA 5 (Another Rockstar title). So, overall it's a great game with a lot of cons to it. I'd give it a 7. Expand

    The Good:
    - Graphics are outstanding. This is by far the best looking open world game to date.
    - Level of detail. The world is massive, beautiful & very much alive. It is filled with content.
    - Story, The story is good...just good. Kind of predictable and not the masterpiece a lot of people say it is.
    - Voice acting. The acting is pretty good.

    The bad:
    - Controls and mechanics. This game has the worst controls of the past generation by far. They are clunky and frustrating. They made me just want to finish the game ASAP. I'm not playing this game again.
    - Pacing. The pacing of this game is terrible. The first half of the game can get pretty boring at times. Then it get's better but meh. It just has bad pacing all along.
    - Fast Travel. You will be traveling by horse A LOT. Fast Travel is very limited and sometimes useless. You will lose a lot of time traveling from one place to another wich results in getting bored.
    - Saving. This game autosaves but if you start a mission guess what! You can't save in the middle of it. Really Rockstar? Can't save in the middle of a mission? What is this? 1991?
    - Realism. This is something I think a lot of people like and I can't see why. The game is filled with detailes and...reality. You have to cook and eat, otherwise you will lose skills. You have to hunt for food. You have to prepare coffee. Taking items is hard cause the character actually takes them. This just makes the game slower and it affects the overall pacing.
    - Secondary missions. A lot of them are pretty boring. Just go from A to B and watch cinematics with NO ACTION AT ALL. Again, bad pacing and boring.
    - Bugs. The game has some bugs. Secondary missions disappear and then appear again. Can't tell when can you access them for real. I lost some secondary missions due to this bug.

All in all it's a good game but absolutely not the masterpiece a lot of people say it is.

Все тебе орут что нужно убегать, но игра тебе не даёт сесть на лошадь, потому что ТЫ ОБЯЗАН сначала всех перестрелять.

The attention to detail in the animation, the weather effects and particularly the mud and snow effects are like nothing else in gaming. Although it’s far from perfect... I’ll come back to this. The music and sound effects are also incredible... just take the noise your horse’s hooves make on the various different surfaces. A lot of effort went into that. The surround sound placement is possibly the best I’ve seen in a PS4 game.

Now the bad... the user interface and controls of this game are without doubt the most confusing and badly designed I’ve ever encountered... and bear in mind that I play (and have no problem with) Elite Dangerous on the PS4. Let me give you just 4 examples (but there are loads more).

Example 1: To bring up the weapon/item wheel, you hold L1, then hold a direction with the right joystick, then release L1 while still holding that direction. The problem is that the right joystick moves the camera after exiting the weapon wheel, which is irritating if what you were wanting to do was switch weapons.

Example 2: Selecting certain weapons involves holding L1 to bring up the wheel, holding the right joystick in a direction to select a category, then pressing L2 or R2 to cycle through those choices.

Example 3: Quick draw... you’re told to gently hold the R2 button until a meter rises to a certain level... except the meter is not very obvious. I’ve not looked this up on the Internet yet, but after 3 or 4 quick draws... I have no idea what meter they’re talking about, but the screen also turns yellow, so I wait for that to happen before fully depressing R2, and then maybe spamming R2 a few more times. And this seems to work! But it’s very likely not what you’re supposed to do. Each quick draw seems to have its own rules as to what a successful outcome should be.

Example 4. Cinematic View... you hold down a button (the touchpad on PS4) to initiate cinematic mode, and are told to hold the 'X' button to continue moving. But you're then told R3 will change camera angles. With your thumb already on 'X', how exactly are you supposed to do that?

And these are just part of the “standard“ controls - you also get completely different ad hoc controls for things like changing a wheel on a wagon. What it reminds me of most is those awful David Cage games. It’s all horrendously confusing. If you’re playing every day, then you do eventually get used to it, but if you stop playing this game for more than a week, getting back into it is gruelling.

The story isn't terribly interesting, the characters are mostly two-dimensional stereotypes and the dialogue's the typical Rockstar fare... what you'd expect a teenager to write after watching a bunch of Tarantino/Scorcese movies.

Also disappointing is the relative lack of interactivity. So much of the main story is effectively "on rails", with you as little more than a bystander. In one mission, you have to rescue a particularly unpleasant person from jail or else he will hang. There's no option to not reduce him and simply watch him hang. In another mission, someone gives you a hand-drawn map showing clues where to find some treasure... but as soon as you put the map away, the game gives you the location of the treasure on your main map anyway, so there's no puzzle to solve... you just follow where the game tells you to go. How patronising.

Back to those visuals... good as they are, they’re far from perfect. The number of times your main character clips through objects (e.g. when sitting on a train or tram seat)... given the attention to detail elsewhere, this feels sloppy. First time I encountered the palaeontologist lady, she was clipping through the scenery too... and the first time I visited the “fence” in Emerald Farm, his entire shop counter was invisible, save for a candlestick floating in the air in front of him. One of the most common in-game sequences is where you sit down on your bed to take a nap... and your gun holster clips through the bed. NPCs commonly get stuck on scenery. And this is in July 2020... why have these things not been patched? This is Elder Scrolls levels of bugs.

So, on the one hand, you have this absurd attention to details that don’t really matter... and on the other you have areas (UI and gameplay consistency) that do matter neglected entirely. When you consider the punishing hours the developers reported put into this... well it shows that “crunch“ merely delivers quantity rather than quality.

What bewilders me still is the ludicrously high review scores the game got... but I put this down to craven sycophancy in the gaming press, combined with a similar attitude to rushing out material to meet a deadline

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the first four chapters I was pretty happy with it although still frustrated with the poor controls and time wasters like skinning animations, gun cleaning and bathing. But with chapters 5 and 6 the game loses me totally aside from actually wanting to help the indians. I know rockstar doesn’t make RPG's but the way these games take the control from the player just so it can take the story in the direction it wants is infuriating. Why is there a moral system if it doesn’t impact the story other than some characters calling you a psycho if you go "all evil"?

The problem for me is that Rockstar seems to want to make interactive movies. And that’s fine. But when I want to watch a movie, I'll watch a movie. When I want to play a game, I like to play not watch long cut scenes and/or listen endless expository dialogue when travelling to a mission that is pretty much on rails. Leave your horse here, go there, use that path, don’t kill that guy... or the mission doesn’t progress or fails. Most of the main missions end in a shoot-out and that's fine too. But even then, you're often told to follow a certain path.

As for the story... This part of rockstar games is the most overrated part. GTA-series especially but also this game are full of genre cliches and predictable as hell. Even though I haven’t played the first RDR and didn’t even know this game was prequel I could see pretty much from the start where it's headed. Nothing in the story surprised me. Dutch was so full of BS from the start and Micah was so obvious traitor that he might as well had neon sign above his head. There is some interesting side content but main story just gets more boring and predictable with every chapter. Most of all it's really frustrating to listen to Dutch BS:ing towards the end when the game forces you to follow him regardless. GTA 5 story had much the same problems but it isn’t this long and there for doesn’t waste the players time as much. So in my opinion the writing in rockstars games isn’t nearly as good as people say or they themselves think! RDR 2 isn’t a masterpiece or a "work of art". It's pretty good game with rigid gameplay and one that overstays its welcome.

I have to applaud Rockstar for creating a game that makes you really feel you are reliving those cowboy days. Music is also top notch and at times, I really felt like I was the main character in a classic wild west movie. The game nails the atmosphere. Where the game drops points for me is in the actual gameplay and the fact that the single player feels longer than it should be. The last 10 hours felt like it was better left out and really felt like a chore to finish. The character that you control feels extremely clunky and at times I got really annoyed. It feels like they tried too hard to be realistic and sacrificed fluid game mechanics for that goal. Framerates were also terrible on my PS4 so if you really want to play this, get it on PC instead or maybe on the next gen consoles.

Its a good game, that ultimately gets let down by its lack of fluid gameplay and a campaign thats longer than it should be.

    2.freedom
this game is between minecraft like freedom in the open wolrd and a uncharted style missions.
i think that the best example of this is the bank robbery mission because theres so many things that are complety diffrent in the open world.
-you rob a bank wich is impossible
-you get 2500 dollars wich is enought to buy every single gun and upgrade to the camp.
-you dont get a state wide bounty
-you dont get a wanted level-cops just kinda show up from diffrent directions.
and if you run on your horse too fast you can even fail the mission wich is kinda funny.

    in conlusion:
missions in this game want to be an uncharted like experience game tolds you what to do and if you attempt anything diffrent - mission failed
open world wants to be like minecraft-it gives you tools and you make the stories but. it cant because
everything cool is locked behind a missions. you dont wanna exprole because if something intresting was there it would of be behind a marker.
and that is my main concern for this game. everything is just so scripted. [Link omitted per site rules]

People saying that "you wouldnt run in real life" makes no sense, as I wouldnt live in 1899 as a gunslinger in real life. RDR2 is more of a movie where you sometimes "Press X" to feel a sense of accomplishment. The game is completely designed around the idea that everything should take a reeeeaally long time, to try to make it seem like a long game. Ive spent hours, literally, just riding around like a nationwide scavenger hunt. Its just a chore. The brief gunfights had moments of excitement, but between the insanely horrible controls and the extreme boredom, this just isnt a good video. SO glad I borrowed this from a friend and didnt pay for it. Sorry Rockstar, your reign is over. Expand

-kontroller biraz hantal oyun çoğunlukla at üstünde geçiyor ve haritanın öbür tarafına gitmek korkunç derecede sıkıcı
+hikaye tatmin edici grafikler hoş gözüküyor tabi low ayarda oynarsanız biraz kötü karakter oldukça iyi ve sizin seçim yapmanız güzel oyun uzun o yüzden bi zaman sonra bırakıyorsunuz onun içinde online moda girirp biraz dolaşın diyiceklerim bu kadar

The story is great and some of the open world discovery is super interesting from a narrative perspective. However the actual gameplay and overall open-world game design feel tired. I was hoping for something more unique from sucha great title and studio. Still, a lot to love in this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Read Dead Redemption 2 is an average game. Good in some areas, but major flaws in others.

    * Good points
Graphics - Some of the best graphics on the PS4.

Game World - The game world is very immersive. Animals behave realistically. Towns feel very alive.

Crafting/Survival - The game includes some basic crafting and survival mechanics which match the setting of the game.

Story - The story is enjoyable and can be very thought provoking. I found it interesting how Dutch has this self-delusion that he is a visionary being oppressed by the system when in reality he's just a charismatic thief and killer. Eventually this delusion has major, and very logical, self-inflicted consequences on his gang.

    * Bad points
Control - The game controls are frequently poor. Every action is sluggish, especially in combat. There really is no excuse for the controls being this bad, especially given the development time and resources.

Weapon Selection Bug - Weapon selection seems bugged. Actions like skinning an animal cause a seemingly random weapon to be selected instead of the previous selected weapon. This will get you killed until you remember to check your selected weapon every time you do anything. But since no other game works this way (that I know) you will continue to forget this bug/feature.

Tedious Mechanics - The game forces you to craft/cook every item you don’t buy, no way to stack and craft multiple items at a time. If you’re crafting ammo for example, you have to craft each bullet one at a time. If you wanted to make 100 bullets, you would have to craft each bullet one at a time!

Crime System - Once spotted, lawmen never stop coming after you, their numbers are unlimited, and they are virtually psychic. Your only option is to try to outrun them. This should not happen. If you can’t kill all your pursuers, they should at least come in waves which give you a reasonable amount of time to escape.

Lack of Stores - The game has an odd distribution of stores. For example; there appears to be only one wagon fence in the entire game. Traders, which have a number of unique items are poorly placed, requiring the player to spend a lot of unnecessary time traveling.

Poor Instructions - The game has a number of unique mechanics that are poorly explained. Part of this is because the pop-up help appears in real time while you need to perform the action. What the game should have done is introduce the game mechanics in a non-critical way BEFORE you actually need to use them (this is game dev 101). In some cases the help is just wrong or incomplete, requiring you to go online to get the information you need. Gun duels are a primary example of this. Players should never have to consult third party sources for basic game mechanics.

There are a number of other poor design implementations not mentioned here. However, despite the games problems I still recommend people give it a try if you like sandbox games or westerns. If good, responsive control is important to you then you may want to wait and pick this game up used or in the bargain bin.

All the production values in the world and ridiculous attention to detail can't save a boring slog of a game with horrible pacing and tedious mission structure/open world where you spend 50% of your game time going from point A to point B with your horse ...

This game ruined my X button :(

Good game overall but with several cons

    Pros:
    Graphics
    Characters
    Dialogs

    Cons:
    Very slow
Nut much entertaining things to do on the open world, I ended up using the auto-pilot feature while riding the horse
Some of the missions are a joke in terms of 'excitement'

OH man, I put so much into this game at first. I was mentally "RPing" every step of the way, and taking my time in the world. The problem was, the game began to stop me from acting on my natural instinct, constantly making me do specific pre-defined paths (flanking is not an option sometimes). There isn't a "true" obstacle that makes your plan fail, the game simply ends the encounter. ThisOH man, I put so much into this game at first. This design may seem archaic, but I remember the missions in GTA 1-3 having more freedom.

There are other moments where despite being in a dangerous situation, escaping from the law, heist, or burning building, when the character will walk inexplicably. It absolutely takes the pace to a grinding halt.

The graphics, the audio, they feel right, but the world feels like Disneyland. Tons of the open world quests are not well tuned. Example - I found an NPC in the world that creates a kind of mini-quest. We had to sneak up and hunt some animal that had stolen something from them or something. His lines were saying "there he is, ok, lets sneak up on him.." something to that effect... and though I'm crouched and sneaking this NPC is just walking normally in front of me toward the prey. This was a random quest late game in the mountain area.

The mini-game button mashing is extremely false feeling. It doesn't feel like youre "really" doing that activity when youre holding R2 and spamming X or whatever it is.

You will use your in-game money to purchase weapons, customize them, set up your loadout, etc, and go to a mission, and then the mission begins and you suddenly are completely regeared, and you arent with your horse. Just the default pistol with no rifle or shotgun... I dont understand why this would ever be done.

The best part of this, and I am being totally serious, is Red Dead Online Poker. I have played a LOT of online video poker games, and this is one of the most immersive and fun pvp poker games i've played no joke. Its awesome that you are your character, and your winnings are going toward your RP journey.. its kind of awesome honestly, Ive made a bunch of money to buy **** in RDO thru the poker haha...

Im truly EXHAUSTED by the story, and when you finish a mission you will often be at a point really far from your next mission spot... you can fast travel, it takes a minute to crouch and set up camp, and often it will say "cannot fast travel with activities nearby" but I don't see anything on my radar... It happens so much that I dont even bother taking the time to get off my horse, crouch, camp, etc (it takes a while and says 'activities nearby' about 75% of the time). I spend so much time riding horses across spaces...

Overall the story arc is also badly paced. I dont want to spoil anything, but just as the game is coming to a climax not only in plot points but in characters, where they are kind of at each others' throats, then you spend a LONG final act in a side story... it should have been incorporated into the main story FAR earlier, and the side story been its own climax instead of something tacked onto the end. I dont look forward to the famously boring epilogue, and I feel dead inside trying to finish and then I'm in a situation stuck walking, or I fail a section because I try to be slightly creative with my approach... In conclusion, I have to give a rating based on what the studio should be able to do. We shouldn't be easy on one of the most profit making companies in the business. Lets be honest about the quality of the narrative, the lack of novelty at the systems, the poor pacing in the action sequences, the cover combat that was new in 2006 when Gears of War released.

Graphics cant carry a game, graphics naturally get better, we cant clap our hands everytime it gets shinier and give it 10/10... cmon.

Thousand of little animations bring this beautiful open world to life. Impressive work with a massive attention to details. Here, npc really react to the player actions.

Unfortunately, the game in itself is really boring. Gameplay feels incredibly unresponsive and you have no freedom in how you can approach the missions. Sometimes you can not even choose your weapon. Story starts slow

Not a 97 score game. The story is connected smoothly with the first one but is small and with out depth. The word is huge but empty. The graphics and the sound are pretty good. Controls and movement are not the best with the "walk" system into the camps became crap. Missions are toooo small .More time they speak before the mision than the mission.
My score for single player is 6,5.

Triple A quality through and through but why bother achieving that quality when the content isn't worth the polish? The game is really slow and not in an artististic, rewarding, or emersive way. It's just tedious. Also, Rockstar seems to create very bland, largely unlikeable characters. I'm just uninterested what is happening in their lives.

I cannot understand, how they put so much effort in graphics, but spoiled gameplay and AI... Also, the game is super easy, it doesn't challenge you at all. It just makes you crazy sometimes, when you're running in the street, bump into some guy, and all of a sudden - all citizens start SHOOTING at you. Bravo. Very realistic.

It’s an huge, outstanding piece of art – worth the hard-earned cash as well as countless hours that are needed to get to know at least some of the attractions of Rockstar’s rendition of Wild West. For those who put story first – the biggest virtue of Red Dead Redemption 2 is that it sets the stage for RDR 1 and does it wonderfully. [13/2018, p.40]
