Was very hyped when it was first announced despite some rough edges. What i got instead though feels like a soulless project with minimum effort poured into it. The combat feels, especially with sabers, has zero satisfaction and feels broken at times like the blocking mechanic. Gun works fine but it's not satisfying to use and lacks an ability to auto fire by holding. Gravity attack sounds nice on paper but it's broken and I rarely even used thoughout the campaign with the exception of the final boss. The game just loves to introduce many mechanics and yet it feels rather underutilized or not very well executed. Enemy fights are boring and easy, with Ai ranging from getting stuck to not doing anything at all. Bosses are interesting but the execution are left much to be desired. First boss is mostly QTE, second boss is buggy as heck (masamune is underwhelming), third boss is tedious due to heavy reliance on random blocking (not to mention for 80% of the fight he's invisible), and the final boss is mostly fight enemies while the game tells you where you gotta shoot the boss. Or so I think that's the case, cause there's a bug that's preventing me from beating this boss, due to teleportation not working.
Also, there's no weapon/skill customization, story is non-existent, no english voice acting despite the given option, no additional content aside from replaying stages for S ranks (which are easy obtain with the only thing holding that fact back are broken QTEs), enemy variety was scarce, graphics are okay at some parts though are rather generic and are downgrade compared to how it looked at the Pax demo, sound design is meh (the saber sound effects are literally stolen from Star Wars), translation isn't on point, and the music was okay at best though it did get annoying since it loops for 25-30 seconds and considering how spongy bosses are that's not helping. The slice-dice mechanic that's similar to that from MGR was especially disappointing. It only applies to one generic enemy (even though the early demo made it look like you could do it to the enemies) and the position it gets sliced it's the same as always, so once you see it 2 or 3 times, it's old news. Also, it happens randomly when the enemy is low on health. You can't even activate it whenever you want like in MGR, so even if the game gives you the chance, sometimes it won't work (not that it was good or anything since you can't remove from the game and it won't be missed). Plus, sometimes enemies will die even when their health was 20-30%.
I'm really disappointed cause the developers really tried their best to make this more ambitious than their first project, adding a hint of Star Wars, Sairento and MGR, but fails to execute those ideas properly. No wonder the launch trailer was the exact same as the one from pax east, cause even they knew how bad the game actually looks. I can only wish the best for Geronimo Interactive in hope they will learn their mistakes and improve on the next one :(… Expand
