Depending on how you feel about the ability to simulate games, it is a tough sell for players of last year’s game to upgrade, but if this is your first R.B.I. Baseball game, this is the one to get.

For what it is, a throwback baseball game, "RBI Baseball 16" is playable and can be, with the right people, enjoyable. But with a lack of overt sexiness and bells and whistles, hardcore baseball fans will obviously look to The Show for a complete next-gen offering.

While its competitor MLB: The Show swings for the fences, R.B.I. Baseball 16 is happy to bunt this year round – and that's okay. The controls are easy to pick up, the games are short and sweet, and the simplicity of it all is what makes this year's edition appealing to casuals. Still, its lack of innovation and modes mean that the title gets to second base – but not much further.

It’s also not any competition for MLB The Show 16. Then again, it doesn’t set out to be either of those things. The aim was to create a baseball game that had a pick-up-and-play quality with a splash of real-life MLB style. While it accomplishes those goals in some areas, the game just isn’t all that fun to play—at least not as a console title.

Almost a carbon copy of last year's release, R.B.I. Baseball 16 is a simplistic and dull looking take on America's pastime. While Xbox gamers are kind of screwed, there are simply too many options on the PS4 to make this one worth your time.

There just isn’t enough within R.B.I Baseball 16 to recommend buying it unless you’re an absolute diehard fan that needs to own every game in the series.

Instead of MLB The Slow, which is the same thing year-after-year, we have two options for baseball games now. And as an old school gamer, IInstead of MLB The Slow, which is the same thing year-after-year, we have two options for baseball games now. And as an old school gamer, I prefer RBI far more.

The games are quick, the controls intuitive, and most of all, it's actually fun.

One thing MLB The Show never nailed is fun factor. It's a great simulation, but it swings and misses on just about everything that makes a video game an ACTUAL game, which is what this is.

For $20, RBI Baseball is an excellent option!

Despite awful reviews, I still bought this game. I'm an older-ish gamer (34) and I miss simple sports games, like MLB Baseball or BasesDespite awful reviews, I still bought this game. I'm an older-ish gamer (34) and I miss simple sports games, like MLB Baseball or Bases Loaded on the NES, and Baseball Simulator 1.000 on the SNES. This looked like a fun update of a nearly extinct genre. The game itself plays pretty well. And games are surprisingly fun.

HOWEVER, I bought this game for two reasons: 1) It has a season mode. 2) It tracks statistics. Except it doesn't. The statistics tracker is completely messed up. Pitchers have gotten credit for wins in games they didn't even play in. Hitters get credited for home runs they've never hit. I beat a team 4 to 0, and one of their players *still* got credit for a home run. Seeing 1 home run and 0 RBI is the weirdest stat line humanly possible.

I reached out to the company that makes the game on Facebook. They asked what the problem was, I explained it, and then they ignored me. I am never going to buy another RBI Baseball again.

I wasn't asking much of this game. I just wanted 2 features. But I guess that was asking for too much. How can a game that tries to calls itself a baseball simulator not even get the basics right?
