I experienced a most troublesome bug with the game. I started receiving messages in my PS4 box to the effect of "gg", "nice shot!", and "you suck". Problem is that I never played these people. Apparently, Pure Pool was matching players unknowingly against my DNA A.I. End result: SPAM, SPAM, SPAM. This continued to occur 3 days after I deleted the game. Response to iamTylerDurden: The PC elitist thing, huh? This has nothing to do with the PC elite...I own a ps3, ps4, 360, xone, and a gaming PC. I have no bias over platform. VP4 set a standard that all other pool games are going to be compared to and it just HAPPENED to be a PC title.. there is no reason many of the features of VP4 shouldn't have been implemented in Pure Pool. Table-speed adjustment, camera angle tweak, controller sensitivity...all possible on console. For the casual player, he or she need not bother. But for those who care, those options should be there. It's not a PC v. Console thing. It's a Game v. Game thing. There is a difference. The elitist statement holds no ground in this case. Wait...P.P. is ALSO a PC title...hmmm...

Response to homerjnick: I do stand corrected, Quick Match in HK did indeed pair you up with a lined-player whether you liked it or not. But it did have rooms to declare what type of game you wish to play beforehand. P.P. has no Challenger Board so you are forced to click on each individual player, issue a game request not knowing what style of play the opponent prefers and wait for a response rather than have an properly matched player browse a list and come to you on your terms. Update: I gave the game another chance and it constantly locked up during match-making. I'm usually tolerant of bugs because they usually get patched up, but this is an abomination. Also, homerjnick, you supported my argument about aiming. If you have to install a ghost circle to compensate for a poor sight angle, then you have an inherent flaw in the camera setting. Inexcusable. Play Virtual Pool 4. That game has a proper camera setting. I respect your opinion, kind sir, but if you think P.P.'s table physics are true to life, then you must play on a bar-room box with about 5 years of spilled ale film on it. I know that this is a preference issue and I'm willing to budge on that. But here's a glaring mistake that can't be over looked: No grid marker-diamonds along the rail! Who was the genius who left that out of the game? I don't like aiming aids, but those are essential to lining up bank shots. Even the pros use them...just ask Archer, Reyes, Strickland, Van Boening, etc. And might I stress again: no stick sensitivity setting. Perhaps I'm being too harsh. Perhaps I was spoiled by V-Pool 4's complete freedom. The game oozes with class? Sure, in visual style. You can also put a tuxedo on Justin Bieber, but you'd just wind up with a well dressed pile of crap.
A rating of 10 means the game has no faults. I don't see how that's the case with Pure Pool. Nothing personal, homerjnick. You seem like a good guy and you can have the final word if you want it. I had no intention of starting a war over a review. However, I was so looking forward to this release I felt compelled to give an honest and accurate assessment of a game I hold quite dear. Unfortunately for me, P.P. fell flat on it's face.

For all the beauty that Pure Pool displays, the visual feast doesn't completely glare out it's annoyances. First of all, the controls are flat out clunky and there is no way to adjust stick sensitivity. Second, the table is slower than George W. Bush taking a reading test. As a regular pool player in real life, I know speed varies from table to table. However, the P.P. table feels like you are playing on burlap as opposed to true billiard felt. And this leads to an overall sluggish feeling and an inability to gain total control over the cue ball. Thirdly: Aiming. I enjoy playing without the use of aiming aids. So I was dismayed to find out that even on 'Master' setting, the game still makes you play with a ghost circle aiming marker. Now this could be a compensation for the fact that you can't get really low on the table to aim your shot, (yet another annoyance). However, I always feel like I'm cheating if I have any help in that department whatsoever. Yet another gripe: When you are searching for an online game, there is no way to filter out those who wish to play with an aiming aid and those who don't. When I hit quick-match, I'm forced to play with a line if that's what my opponent wishes. This may be fine for beginners and casual pool players, but a bone of contention for the rest of us who like our virtual pool to be as close to reality as possible. I was also surprised to at the absence of 14.1 continuous among other game types. No instant chat, etc.etc… Expand
