After Playing the game for 10 Hours i came to the realization that Prototype Holds Fun after all these years. The Gameplay is by far the most entertaining aspect of the game, Both Story and Graphics are Below Average. Its a fun ride for One Playthrough but not for a Platinum Completion.

Game Length: 6-9 Hours of Story. Additional Content and 100% Completion can add another 10-30 hours

Playing Prototype for the first time in 2021 really makes it hard for me to enjoy this game the way people enjoyed it back in 2008.

The world and gameplay feel archaic at this point and while I had a few moments of nostalgia-based enjoyment due to the fact I've played similar games back in the day, I really can't say Prototypes' exploration, combat or open-world New York are good.

The story is painfully edgy and basic. You never connect with Alex as an individual which makes the plot twist feel like a dud. The voice acting ranges from decent to laughable and characters just pop in and out of the story with no explanation.

While I can sort of accept all the problems due to the games' mindless nature, something I can't forgive is the terrible difficulty spikes. At certain points Prototypes' mechanics just can't keep up with damage coming at you from everywhere and you start getting punished just for playing. The aiming system is terrible and traversal during combat is just a nightmare.

Prototype could be fun for some people but for most it'll just end up as an hour or two of mindless destruction before getting deleted and forgotten. 5/10

I'm just writing at least 150 characters because I wanted to save this review in a more convenient way to look back at scores that I had given stuff as a user

Massively overrated game. Gameplay is uninspired, with a very uninteresting open world game, with very little to do. Combat is pretty pathetic. You buy upgrades which are various types of moves or power, but these are easy to obtain, I never ran out of 'cash' in this game. The moves are pretty boring and can't be strung together. The moves are pretty boring and can't be strung together. The free roaming movement is not particularly fun, it's a poor man's parkour where all you do it hold a button and you can run over and across every surface. The most interesting movement is gliding, but if you've played any Just Cause you'll be dissapointed.
Melee is fairly rubbish. Health is pretty easy to come by, and any type of enemy above infected human basically has to be avoided until facing away from you, then they're easy to hit. It gets very repetitive.
Boss fights are extremely un-enjoyable. With heavily unbalanced bosses, that attack 50% health destroying blows in rapid succession. Tank and helicopter control is probably the most fun aspect of the game, but are so massively unecessary for 99% of the game, that there's barely any point them existing.
There ready is very little to get from this game, after a couple of hours I was begging for it to end. The story is god-awful, the voice acting is atrocious, and the characters are uninteresting.

I didn't have much expectation for this game, but due to high ratings figured I should try it, but couldn't begin to expect how un-enjoyable this game would be.

Also I must note that the graphics of this game really don't hold up, the cut scenes are decent, but the actual game graphics are fairly painful to look at for extended periods of time. This game did come out 7 years ago, so I wont dock any marks for the graphics, but have to mention it, especially after playing it on PS4.

Prototype is a third person open world beat 'em up action game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Activision. Though the game looks promising and cool ,after a while it gets repetitive

First of all the gameplay is good and feels nice at the beginning. I mean what could possibly go wrong. You are Alex Mercer a genetically altered badass that brutally fights monsters and kills powerless humans.I have to admit that it was very satisfying, but after the first missions it gets stale ,because all the other missions look and most importantly feel the same. Same enemies but each time with more health in order for you to be harder to kill them, same unbalanced bosses but with a different skin which can kill you with one hit, and same missions.Go there ,kill this guy or go there kill the other guy that turns out to be a monster. There is no variety in the gameplay making the game very boring and hard to beat. The side missions or events as the game calls them are, you guessed it, all the same and you don't need to complete them because you never run out of cash due to the huge amounts of money the main missions give you.The combat accompanied by the consuming mecanism is probably the best part of the game. They are pretty fun ,satisfying and make you feel like YOU are the boss, but this satisfaction fades away when of the difficult overpowered bosses land you abruptly to the ground. Another good part of the gameplay is the free running and parkour mechanics which are fluid, smooth and let you explore the city and transport through it with ease.
The story of the game is not that great. We have heard it many times.Someone does bad things to a guy and that guy seeks vengeance. No big deal. And all the virus background could have been something much more original.
The level design of the game is not that great either.New York City as an open world is not the best option for a game like prototype because there is no environmental variety and the only thing that this world offers is tall and short buildings. You can't even swim. But the ability of Alex Mercer to climb, run, jump and glide on those buildings is a helpful addition in making the game more pleasant and make you have fun with it.
The graphics of this game could have been better.I understand it is an old game but when it came out for the ps3 there were so many visually better games already out including Crisis. Some of the animations look like those on ps2 games and in general it doesn't look like it was released in 2009.
The game had some glitches and annoying bugs but they were only a few and they occurred rarely. The duration of the game felt very long.It is 11 hours but due to the lack of variety and the repetitive missions felt like 20+ hours and the fact that you lose constantly on bosses makes it feel even longer. The story is not intersting enough to keep you playing and you play it pathetically until you finaly beat it.
Prototype was at least disappointing and sometimes annoying but it had some splashes of fun here and there and if you like superpower games give it a try but stock up on patience. Don't say that i didn't warned you.
