This game is fantastic! The amount of stuff they've crammed into this package is impressive. There's quests, collectables, side missions, and all sorts of variety when it comes to gameplay. The characters are always amusing, the multiplayer is enjoyable, and the whole this is just so entertaining! Highly addictive.

Gameplay wise the multiplayer is still one of the best in this generation with 6 new classes that won't break the balance of the battlefield and are as fun as the originals. But one of the big selling point of this sequel was also the addition of a solo campaign, and that point was a let down, yes you can play in solo but it's the same maps than the multiplayer and there is absolutely no effort in the level design of these "solo ops", there's no story neither, it could (and should) have been must better, there's still room for improvement in that domain.

In conclusion Garden Warfare is still a very fun game that I would advise it to anyone looking for a nice multiplayer experience but don't get fooled by the marketing and don't buy the game for the solo mode.

An absolute blast to play. Love the ability to play splitscreen on the couch with friends, and being able to play any mode with or against any set up of AI was a huge plus for me. Characters are wacky, maps are gorgeous whats not to love!

It's been a long time since I've sat down with a game and genuinely had FUN. For the past several years I've been completing games for the story, or some other reason. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is, in my opinion, perhaps the best PS4 game to date.
The card packs are by far the most addicting thing in the game. Collecting coins to open them and see what character you get to play

It's pure fun, whereas with a lot of online shooters now it seems like you need to devote yourself to fully in order to be successful. The game is competitive of course, but somehow the game is packed with alot more pure fun. The only downside is that this new iteration, at its core, is very similar to the original game. There's definitely alot more than your typical CoD yearly iteration though (without $50 or more in extra DLC), so it's still a worthwhile purchase.

I havent played it too much yet, but I'm really liking it. Classes need a little balancing, but if they can sort that, this could be a Game of the Year candidate. It looks great, the classes are varied, and there's alot to do - multi player or solo.

I will admit I was a fan of the original game for its unique blend of arcade-y shooter with interesting mechanics that made the game fresh, mechanics so well like that EA ended up taking many of the same systems into the game Star Wars Battlefront.

All that aside, EA's second iteration includes many of the same mechanics, which personally I enjoy as they are more action/gameplay oriented then realistic shooters, but Garden Warfare 2, unlike its forebearer, is fully fleshed out and has many innovative features of its own. Even on PS4 it had quick load times in its mostly seem-less, menu-less system, giving a feeling of contingency and fun not prevalent else wear. As a multiplayer shooter it is intriuging, and as a single player campaign it is interesting, but if you enjoy splitscreen this is the best game I have seen in a long time.

I find the innovative and unique elements grossly underrated, and I really appreciated the fresh, fun spirit of the game.

asymmetrical, class-based, 3rd person shooter featuring 14 classes and anywhere between 5 and 9 variants of each class. This adds up to a total of over 100 playable classes in the game. the game will have free dlc over the course of 2016. looking forward to playing it more now.

I am a huge fan of the first game and have over 1000 hours in... However, I dislike almost all the changes they made for the multiplayers, the characters are not balanced, the tone of the maps has too much pink (I like the greenish in the first game). They add a lot of stuff to single player and coops which are just average contents and nothing standout.

GW2 takes all the feedback about the first game, and creates a totally worth sequel.

Pros: **This game has character and charm! It's bright, colorful, goofy, and fully commits to its IP. **Character variety is insane, with tons and tons of unlockables to earn. **Speaking of unlockables, if you've played the first game, you can transfer almost all of your character unlocks to GW2.

**This game has character and charm! It's bright, colorful, goofy, and fully commits to its IP.
**Character variety is insane, with tons and tons of unlockables to earn.
**Speaking of unlockables, if you've played the first game, you can transfer almost all of your character unlocks to GW2. That was a lot of work, and taking them with is a very nice gesture.
**Players have been entrusted with choices about how to play the game. Wanna play the whole game, every mode, locally with no online play? Do it. Wanna play with a friend/spouse in every mode in local split-screen? It's there. Wanna play with tons of unique modifiers like low gravity or playing against a team of only Super Brainz? I don't know why you'd want to, but it's there. Players have options, and that's fantastic.
**There's single-player content resembling a "campaign". It's not very long, and it mostly exists to set up the three new characters on each side. But it's nice to see the gesture in a historically multiplayer-only game.
**Backyard Battleground is sort of a hub world that replaces the main menu, but it's got little side-quests and activities to partake in, not the least of which is getting caught up in this perpetual, escalating fight between the two sides. It's clever.
**It may not be dark, gritty, or rated M, but it's a totally competent shooter for all ages.

    Cons:
    **I've experienced some game crashes.
**Some occasional bugs like characters suddenly not being able to move.
    **Occasional promotional garbage.

Overall, GW2 is a totally worthy successor to the original game, and deserves much better than 7/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is one of the less violent and yet still fun to play shooter games. Unlike the first this new one is loaded with many more features like graveyard ops, AI's replacing real people, campaign modes and more. It is fun to play, but certain aspects of the game need tweaking. Herbal Assault is far to difficult. The AI's on any mode shoot you down in air or a drone far to easily. You should be able to select (in my opinion) every opponent (AI) you are going against and their levels (but offer presets). They need more character diversity and ability diversity. And they need to do character class tweaking. They should offer a mode where you can be one of the garden ops bosses too, and have more campaign mode. The old maps from GW1 were ditched so it does need more maps. And they need more modes and things to do in my opinion. I know it sounds like a hate the game, but I don't, it's very fun and much better then GW1 in my opinion, however, like any game there is ALWAYS room for improvement, this is no exception. But it is a good game and I highly recommend it for anybody who wants a new game because it is SOOOOOOOOOOOO fun. So while there is room for improvement, it is a wonderful, funny, and fantastic game overall. Expand

However, there is a major problem you can't ignore. The online playing is extremely unbalanced !
I have experienced the ' Plants vs Imps' in the beta, 'Roses vs Zombies' after release and 'Zombies Warfare' after that, which give me the impression that EA don't have a fair balancing ability.

Also, the number of maps are quite few in this early stage of the game. I don't think I have spent that much of time on this game than the first one.

The single player is improved, by a lot. But it is never the point for these series.

PVZ: GW2 is a GREAT pick up and play shooter that is safe for any age to play. Considering that there are so many shooters out now that are far too graphic for the younger kids, this is a breath of fresh air.

Multiplayer modes are still as fun as ever, the single player is simple yet plays as a great way to get acquainted with each class. Overall, this was packaged nicely for a sequel

Even the solo content requires an internet connection. Many short-sighted people mistakenly believe the complaints about this are due to a lack of internet access, so if you have internet you have nothing to worry about. The problem with this is actually that it transforms what could be a quality game to add to your collection to play forever, into a glorified rental that, given the reputation of the publisher, will only be playable for 2-3 years before it becomes nothing but fond memories. Publishers are counting on this, because in theory if you are unable to play the old game, you have more incentive to buy the new one. They also do this to ensure that no tampering can be done with the premium game's free-to-play currency system, which is an insult to gamers that remember the days when those "services" were obtainable not through real world money, but through cheat codes, which were free to everyone. So if you are willing to spend $60 on a disc that will eventually become nothing but a drink coaster and treats you like you didn't even buy the game in the first place, expecting you to pay more after the fact, go right ahead and buy it. But if you value the ability to go back and play your favorite games whenever YOU feel like doing so, and games that allow you to relax in an alternate world instead of requiring you to create a budget for ingame spending, avoid it at all costs. although i like the concept of this game. its not worth buying unless you have at least 3 friends to play it with because after you finish the garden ops there isn't much to do but to play multiplayer and that can get extremely boring very quickly, as your on the same maps using the same characters. Honestly i'd wait till this drops to £15 to £20

However, my biggest problem is the constant lag. Every match, the game stops and characters run in place for lengthy amounts of time. When the lag finishes, your character is most likely dead. You are likely to be disconnected from the server at random times throughout gameplay. How is one supposed to enjoy a game in which they cannot play? Also, the game Garden Warfare itself has been lootboxified (so to speak), with the addition of Legendary character pieces and hats, which are extremely hard to come by, especially for people who are free to play (myself included). With new Legendary characters especially, they are so unbalanced that the game becomes more of a game that depends on the characters that you have rather than the skill of the player. With the addition of “story mode” and the backyard battleground, one would be led to believe that there is an entirely new story mode, to which there is. However, this new “story mode” is just doing quests, and to me is more of a tutorial for new players rather than an effective story mode. This mode could have been expanded on, and was not. Also, with some of the new maps, some are fun to play, and others are terrible. The “Seeds of Time” map in Turf Takeover is nearly impossible for the zombies to win, and in “Great White North”, it is always nearly impossible for the plants to win. This is one of the numerous examples of how unbalanced the game is. Overall, with the bad servers and unbalanced and underdeveloped content, this game fails to meet my expectations. Expand

You pay full price for the game, then if you want to stand a fair chance in multiplayer, you gotta pay even more. This coming from a fairly skilled player. The game intentionally screws you out of kills or it artificially bolsters your ability to get them; things like altering your movement speed, preventing your abilities from triggering or cranking up the aim sensitivity when making last moment adjustments before blasting off a zpg or shuck shot, making your imp punt overshoot an enemy right in front of you or itll just stall on the ground 2 inches from where you kicked it, deliberately teleporting you or other characters into or out of a projectile's trajectory. Sometimes projectiles go right through enemies or simply dont cause any damage, other times you vanquish people who just spawned with (obviously) full health in 2-3 low damage shots. Ive got so many the examples on video its undeniably obvious what the game is programmed to do. Also on video I have multiple instances of xp not being awarded, either in the correct amount or at all. The scripted interference goes both ways. There are times I've tested just to see the reticle chase an enemy across the screen while unloading on them hitting every shot without even touching the joysticks. There are so many times where you dont see an enemy until you're dead or it's obvious an enemy can't see you acting completely oblivious to your presence yet frantically trying to see where they're taking damage from, all while you stand there unloading on them for a free kill. The game is rigged, BAD, right now and not fun at all because of it. If it was actually FAIR without any interference from EA's "dynamic difficulty adjustment/monetization" scripts it would be a blast, 10/10. But the way it is now is infuriating to any player with an iota of perception; it sucks, 1/10. Plan on it being even worse in gw3. EA destroys every franchise it touches. Expand
