    Pixel Heroes is some good old classic dungeon crawling action. The lack of narrative context makes it a tough, but not necessarily rewarding game, but putting that aside, the endless gameplay loop is simple and clean, and there's a fun combat system to make it all worth at least a little of your time.

    Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic uses its happy-go-lucky attitude to its advantage. It’s a great game for players who are looking for a very light RPG experience, or players who don’t have the time to pour into a more absorbing game. Sadly, there is not much to fall back on under the surface mechanics, but Pixel Heroes: Byte and Magic can stand up on its own as a quick, fun, and lighthearted game.

    Managing inventory is especially tedious with a console controller and the systems in place don’t make the control options intuitive making the process of navigating a simple menu a gigantic chore.

    Ultimately, the bland, dreary combat sinks the entirety of the experience and it’s with a heavy heart that I must warn you to avoid this title if you have any choice in the matter. Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic is a swing and a woeful miss.

    One of my favourite games!

    The game borrows a lot of elements from traditional retro RPGs (turn based) where you have to choose attacks or    One of my favourite games!

    The game borrows a lot of elements from traditional retro RPGs (turn based) where you have to choose attacks or skills for each party member. There's a lot of dungeon crawling an loot finding involved and the variety of enemies, hero classes and dungeons is huge!

    Check out the awesome making of trailer for the game und you'll see what I'm talking about.
    There are roguelike elements and it certainly isn't the easiest game but once you learn how to optimize your party through items, it's very doable.

    I can't understand Jazzfoods convoluted review to the game, the controls are perfectly fine and the devs are born in the 80s as you can see from the trailers.    … Full Review »

    I live for 8 bit retro rpg/rogue games and was beyond excited to see this game. Wasted the money and started it up to see perfect graphics and fun gameplay or at least I thought. My guys just stand there and never move, no d pad and buttons which ruins the entire game. I hate when devs can lie and claim retro based when there is never been one 8 bit rpg that requires you to cover your screen with your hand and randomly tap away hoping something sticks or works out. Just cannot believe (I can) that all these gen z and alpha devs are allowed to claim retro without even having the basic fundamentals and function of a retro rpg. I would not be so pissed off if they didn't make such a good game but they forgot the controls when they finished the game and decided to release it as is. The only way to make my guys move is to randomly tap and I cannot even see my screen unless my hand turns into see through. Biggest disappointment out there.    … Full Review »
