Maybe the best JRPG ever, and maybe the most stylistic game ever as well. The game is well paced and fun for the entire 100+ hour playthrough, which is astonishing. Takes one of the most beloved and iconic JRPG series and improves upon it in every way. Alternates between your high school / social experience and going into dungeons. Quirky, amazing, and a game everyone should experience.

A few low res textures, and occasionally redundant dialogue are the only things that fall a hair away from perfection. A well deserved 10/10 and a true masterpiece. Easily the best game I've played in a decade. Expand

I keep watching the events of the game and holding my breath as it skirts around and sometimes plows through cultural issues that I care about or find problematic. I don't know if I agree with what the game is saying all of the time, and that's complicated by the cultural differences between myself and the developers, but it is making me think about what is happening every step of the way, and I can't offer higher praise to a game. For a Persona sequel to work, Atlus have placed the burden upon themselves to innovate with each game. Persona 5 feels like a game that jumped 3 generations from Persona 4. While the story is of the same quality of past games (which is a huge plus), every other aspect is a huge improvement.

Persona 5 is a game that retains the massive scope of past games, but keeps it alive for the PS4 era, meaning that Atlus essentially had to work 5 times as hard to make the game retain its effectiveness as a modern game. The game will run 90-100 hours, and each of those hours is meticulously crafted and controlled by a massive variety of polished content. All of it, side content included, never feels like it distracts from the main themes or story.

This game should be celebrated and remembered for years to come.

Case in point, why is Persona 5 good? Well let's start with the graphics - HOLD ON, I know you might think that graphics don't matter and I totally agree with you, however, Persona 5 has a unique style that makes the graphic stylish and very interesting to look at. The game's flashy, colorful, cel-shaded and incredibly well designed: the other game that just came to mind was persona 4 with its colorful environment, but persona 5 ramps it up to 11 and makes the game look beautiful, as well as stylish. I mean...just look at the intro, or at the choice option, at the menu screen: it reeks of "pop", something that reminds me of the 90s it's just incredible. Again, the only game that I felt this way was persona 4 and that game was already great in the visual ways.

How's the gameplay? It's turn-based combat at its finest, a system that not many seem to like because "it's too old", but Persona 5 not only uses it yet again to show that it's still valid but improves it, expands it and includes elements from previous SMT such as the demon dialogues to recruit shadows and, most importantly of all, better and non-randomized dungeons (although the random dungeon still exists, it's just a sidequest). The combat controls are much more simplified and much faster too, making you switch persona on a whim, add the fact that the combat was simplified by removing "damage type" (there was slash, pierce and blunt) and also improving physical attacks (they do more damage than before and miss a lot less), the game really shines through with ease.

Granted, I didn't enjoy how little the SP is and how quickly it runs out, and how hard it is to get items for recovering SP in general, but that's a nitpick at worst.

And while I won't spoil the story, I honestly found it simple yet interesting, very interesting...to the point that "I just had to know what was going to happen". I kept wondering what was going to happen after the next dungeon was over and while the game hints with its flashback scenes - another nitpick because I highly despise flashbacks - I still wanted to know what was going to happen to the characters.
Right the characters: I really love them, especially Morgana and how he's so sure of himself yet adorable at the same time. I won't lie: I didn't like Teddy in p4 for how "disgustingly" nice he was, but Morgana just felt more of a reliable character overall. The others are also pretty likable and very...relatable too: they're disliked by everyone, they're people who did big mistakes, they're people with difficult childhoods. In other words, they're misfits who struggle to get into the Japanese society and the MC has a criminal record too. It was very refreshing: unlike p4 and it's cheerful, the bright cast of super happy characters with no worries in their world, the p5 cast is yes cheerful and happy but has also to worry about their ranks and their place in society.
And as someone who has a mentality far different from the country he currently lives in (I did live abroad for few years while younger), I can totally relate too.

I want to add my nitpicks as well, with my biggest being them taking a lot from p4 in terms of time management: you can only go into the dungeon in the afternoon and do NOTHING at night "because you're tired", forcing you to plan far ahead of time. Doing the dungeon literally limits your daily routine in many ways: you can't study, you can't go out and do a bath, you can't create lockpicks (VERY needed), you can't even hang out with friends...nothing. So be ready to program your stuff!
Secondly, the game map is very...confusing at first and I honestly got lost quite a lot before being able to quick travel to my locations. I guess it's because of the camera being free but I won't lie that I found myself wandering cluelessly for the first 10 hours.
And third, the time for clearing dungeons is VERY SHORT: talking about 2 to 3 weeks tops and not only that, your time limit is shorter because you're supposed to do "something" BEFORE finishing the dungeon, which requires an additional day. Which means, DON'T REACH THE END ON YOUR LAST DAY, OR IT'S GAME OVER.

And now for a bigger flaw: the game doesn't allow streaming and while it doesn't affect me, a friend of mine does and I thought to add this up for those who are hardcore streamers like her.

With that said, go get this game if you miss the old JRPGs, those with turn based combat, great stories and rewarding system. It's not perfect by any means it sure is close to being it!

If you own a PS3 or PS4 this is probably one of the best games you will play, but I put it at a 9 because turn based fighting is not everyone's cup of tea, and there are some issues with transitions between combat and exploration. To me though, this is what an RPG should be. I would say the only thing that may be missing is the ability to customize your own character and have preferences in that regard, but it's the best RPG game I've played in a while.

Persona 5 is just as good as Persona 4.
Better in some aspect and worse in some other.
The NPC social links, the soundtrack in general, the velvet girls the combat and the level designs are better in P5.
But the pacing, the normal student events, and the enemies are better in P4.

Ever since I finished Persona 4 on the PS2 many years ago, I've been waiting for this game to come out and my expectations for this game were astronomically high. And, while I would say it didn't live up to that, the game is almost as perfect as I was hoping it would be. There are a few very minor issues that keep it from reaching the perfect heights that I had hoped for but nothing to keep this from being the best JRPG to come out for a very long time and one of the best games for the current console generation.
It begins and ends with the Story and, while it takes literally hours upon hours of gameplay to finally pick up steam, it has a very satisfying ending and final boss. The dungeons are a big key to that too as they are handmade instead of randomly generated like previous games. While some of them drag on a little too much, (especially one of the ending dungeons), they really set the tone for the game at that point and the bosses were very well designed.
The characters are also very well done. There are a few standout characters, including the new "mascot" character in this game, Morgana. However, I'd still say that, as a group, Persona 4's cast was a bit more memorable but that might only be from the amount of time I've spent with that game. The voice acting is superb and not just for the main cast. The side characters are really well done too but that's to be expected. I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't more VO's at some of the more important parts of the game, especially a few scenes at the end, but there's hundreds of lines of dialogue already. That might be a good idea for any kind of remake that will hopefully happen in the future.
The combat is the same but they've added two new types of damage: Psy and Nuke. They've also added new Personas in the game, but the bigger story might be that they left some of the most controversial monsters in the game. Google the Persona "Mara" and you'll know what I'm talking about. However it was really cool to see some regular Personas like Jack Frost and Pixie in 3D. Plus the new Personas are very cool looking and not just the main characters. The party members have some amazing new Persona designs and it's probably the best collection or Personas so far I think. Special mention has to be made for the music too. The Persona series has always had some of the best music in video gaming and this game was an excellent reminder of that. It's one of the few series I'd pay to buy the soundtrack of and listen to it over and over again.
There's one big caveat that I want to mention for anyone playing this game: it takes literally dozens upon dozens of hours to complete and it's not an easy game. This is not a series for beginners or people who don't like RPG's. However, if you can deal with all of that, you'll find a game and a series with a ton of heart and promise. This game in particular, while it took almost a decade to be released, shows that the guys at Atlas still got it. And with the way things went with Persona 4, I imagine we will be seeing a few spinoffs and, hopefully, a bigger and better remake in the next few years. Till then I'll be going back in into this world, albeit at a much slower pace.

Battle System: 9/10. The battle system is turn based which would usually be a turn-off in 2017 but it manages to be unique enough with the addition of guns, knockdown weaknesses, and ambushes that you never feel like you're simply grinding. Graphics/World Design:

Graphics/World Design: 9.5/10: The graphics are good and they fit a very 3D anime design. The main complaint I have is that the anime cutscenes are used very well in the first part of the game and end part but oddly underused in the middle. That being said the world design of the palaces is great. The thieve outfits and color usage is simply perfect. It's simply artistic. Yusuke would approve.

Soundtrack: 9.5/10. Certainly an odd jazzy soundtrack. It took a little getting used to for me but it definitely fits every scene and by the end I craved each song.

Story: 10/10. Absolutely an amazing story. You get tied into each character and each confidant. You want to know the full main story and each subplot. The idea of "stealing villains' hearts" is intriguing and the palaces are an excellent refection of the villains' mental state.

Side Quests/Bonus Material: 9.5/10: The game does a good job of giving bonus mission in Momentos via Mishima so you're never lacking for extra missions. Persona 5 also does a good job at giving you more to do in a second play through which is pretty much necessary if you want everyone's full story.

Misc: 9.5/10. It's a great game and playing through everyday is amazing especially with the fact that the entire game up to a certain point works as a flashback. the only negative is that you need to play it a second time through to get everything from the game which leads to a high hour commitment to gameplay.

Summery: Persona 5 is a great game with an enthralling story. It's style keeps you interested and wanting more. The negatives are few and far between and it ever manages to innovate on a very classic battle system.

As for the game, I love how they changed the dungeons. They were the worst part in old Persona games. Now they're amazing and stylish - stealth is simple, fun and not tedious at all. The battle system is better than ever and negotation is a nice bonus. Characters are great so far, probably better than they were in P4G. Music fits the game and it's really catchy. Honestly, I don't see any flaws in this game. I guess you could argue about the graphics, but then again - the art style is gorgeous.

Its been a while since I've enjoyed a turn based game and ATLUS does well by putting there twist on it with things like charming menu designs, witty dialogue and a catchy song all during battle.

P5 has some very minor faults though, I did feel the dialogue and conversations were too long and even repetitive at times throughout the whole game and the stealth and cover system is quite clunky at times.

    The Good:
+ Excellent story and memorable characters, love it +2
+ Cool anime art style and visuals +1
+ Turn based awesomeness with its own unique twists to it +1
+ Memorable soundtrack that is download worthy +1.5

    The Bad:
    - Lengthy conversations and repetitive dialogue -0.5

    The Ugly:
    - Clunky cover system which can get annoying -0.5

    Persona 5 is magic, 9.5/10:
I can see this not being for everyone but if you like the whole "living a normal Japanese teenage student life but secretly live a second life killing shadow demons" lol then definitely pick this up or pick it up-n-try when on sale.

Definetly the best JRPG I played ever and one of the best original soundtracks I've ever heard on a game. When it finished, I went straight to new game plus with an empty feeling in my heart. I really wanted more of the Phantom Thieves.

I know, I know, Breath of The Wild was awesome, but this one here is the game of the year in my heart. I've even named my newest male cat Morgana!

For me this is easily one of the best games in 2017 (if not the best one).
I love story-driven games and this one is a diamond among them.

In addition, it features stellar art design, loveable characters, deep progression system and brilliant storytelling which makes a perfect example or proper pacing. Oh, right, and the music is TOP NOTCH creating the right mood at the right time.

Yes, i admit that the graphics are somewhat outdated for 2017, it's not Crytek with 100.000 polygons per one cm^2 of a character's face, it does not have complex material shading, but whatever. It does not need this to be an awesome story-driven game, and the art style completely makes up for the lack of tech.

I spent 100+ hours on my first playthrough and i'm a little dissapointed that i finished the game. Need more games like this.

This game is one of the best jrpg i ever played, hell probably on of the best game i ever played in my long years as a gamer, and here is why.

    - The gameplay
For a turn based jrpg, this seems like a very fresh take on the turn based combat system.
There are a ton of little things that make the fights enjoyable: from exploiting enemies weakness for an extra action (and the possibility to pass it to another character), to the possibility to negotiate with the enemies if you corner them (or recruit them, or destroy them with an oll out attack), to giving a big role to ambush or being ambushed from the enemies in the map.
All the enemies are visible on the map, and approaching them in the right way (or avoiding them) is the key to success (or failure).
The fact that you can recruit all the enemies (with the exception of boss enemies), and fuse them to create new summons or useful items is also a very good mechanics.
Half of the game is a social simulator, with you deciding how to spend your limited time: you can spend it activities that will increase your social stats (that you'll need for events and confidants) or in confidants (people which will unlock useful abilities the more you become closer to them).
This part ask for a lot of thinking on how to manage your time the best way, but it is also very enjoyable.

    - The visuals
Cutscenes are done with anime (a very good looking one).
The ingame graphic is not top edge, but is very polished and interesting.
The characters are memorable without looking unrealistic.
The menus are stylish as hell.

    - The music and voice acting
This part of the game really shines. The music is great. There are a lot of song with vocals, and they are pretty great. Just search for the battle theme "last surprise", it's something you will never be tired of listening to.
The japanese voice acting is very good, i don't know about the english one since i played it subbed (not dubbed).

    - The story
The story is good, like very good, from start to finish. I think there are very few games with a story as good as Persona 5, and it is good from start to finish.

    - The longevity
This is a very long game. If you rush it maybe you can finish it in about 95 hours, but i spent 150 hours in it for a single full game run where i did all i could thing of.

-The major and minor characters, most of them are likable and has good depth in them.
-The aesthetic and visual of the game is superb. The colors are vibrant and the art style is beautiful. The dungeons are detailed and interactive. I'm super happy that they aren't as dull or bland as the previous ones (Tartarus comes to mind). The boss designs are also very good.
-The soundtrack is absolutely outstanding. Shoji Meguro is a music genius. It compliments the narrative and game atmosphere very well.
-The gameplay is magnificent. It has the same, familiar turn based combat of Persona games and they've added some new things to it as well. There are two new elements (nuclear and psi). Demon negotiations from the mainline SMT games are also added, making acquiring new personas a little challenging.
-There are tons of content in the form of side quests, social links and collectibles.

Persona 5 is a modern JRPG masterpiece that I would put in the same level as Chrono Trigger, Xenogears and FF6. It's definitely my favorite game for this year. It's an absolute must play for MegaTen veterans and for open minded new comers who'd like to try a modern JRPG.

Instead of a slog through randomly-generated and linear corridors, we get to sneak through carefully crafted and well designed environments. They're just as fun as any other aspect of this game, which already has a ton of content and variety. The depth of gameplay, excellent writing in nearly all possible ways, and edge-of-your-seat story are done so well that you won't want to stop until you reach the end....and then you'll probably want to start a new game+ right away.

This game captivated me from beginning to end. It took me 110 hours (or three weeks of constantly playing in my free time). This is easily one of the best JRPG's in years, one of the best games ever made in general, and one of my personal top ten favorites of all time.

This is a game that deserves 10/10 because it has no real bad flaws. It's as flawless as flawless gets for such a huge AAA game.

With that said, I have a few minor flaws and issues that aren't bad ones, but still need to be mentioned, even if they only slightly undermine the greatness of this game and don't really harm it:

    - The pacing is terrible. 4 hours to get into the first dungeon proper and leave the scripted fights and tutorial zone? Please. By this point they should've gone for dynamic tutorials or slowly let the gameplay expand over the course of the 90+ hours of the game. Instead we get about 60% of the whole game's gameplay tutorialised and explained in the first 4 hours and while understandable, IT IS JUST WAAAAAY TOO MUCH.

In general the game is slow as well, with characters talking all the time, and unlike Persona 4 they don't repeat themselves or waste your time, but they generally talk about the same things, conversations are fine but feel samey. I'm thinking they could have added events, or perhaps a new villain somewhere in the middle. The first dungeon serves as tutorial for the game, and the end has a lot of good plot dump, but in between there is certainly room for new story elements, and P5 is a little scarce on new things to talk about for the team. It's mostly a nitpick though, there is way enough story content, just slightly insufficient story content for all the talking and time spent.

    - The game's way too directive. When plot is dumped on you, usually over the course of a full week, you are forbidden from going out or doing any of the social links or side things, which is terrible. If I wanna get stuck on story mode and ignore the bountiful side content, I can do it by myself, I don't need the game to order me.

    - While more of a nitpick, P5 focuses on its main cast and story more than any Persona game. Like in P4 every team member is a social link, and because of the aforementioned blocking, P5 really wants you to focus on its main story and main cast. It's just a bit of a shame.

    - Now this is a very wierd thing to complain about, but playing Persona 5 till the end convinced me that the game was incredibly polished and thought out, but perhaps too much so. Wierd to complain about a game being too well done, but I think the extremely calculated and prepared nature of everything might have been a bit of a detriment. It lacks freshness, it lacks spontaneity. Like if IRL you meet someone and you just start a conversation a bit awkwardly, compared to a movie where the script is written in advance: P5 feels like all of it is extremely prepared, thought out and imagined, and it's fine in 90% of cases, but I wish they had used the last 10% to go and throw out some random/risky things, to just do whatever they wanted instead of calculating and evaluating everything like it feels they did.

    - Following on last point, while P5 strikes a great balance between the Phantom Thief aspect and the more normal Tokyo life, and the atmosphere is a resounding success, I think they could have gone wilder with some of the cast. P3 struck an awesome balance between gloomy, creepy, or sad characters, crazy unrealistic(but realistically written) characters, and more normal people. P4 was all bore and normal. And P5 has quite a few good "dark" ish characters, and a lot of normal people. I wish they would have gone crazier, like what happens with the maid reveal. Moments like that are pure gold and they could have gone out on a limb and tried more crazy stuff like that, it would have made this too-calculated game even better.

I guess they knew this was their chance to reach a much larger public than their usual crowd, so they played it a bit too safe.

Still, those nitpicks shouldn't take away the fact that the **** gameplay from older games is utterly crushed, the story is great, the characters are great, the game is pretty much perfectly written despite a bit lower key points around the end, the Tokyo life is awesome, the feeling you get from the whole game stays strong from start to finish, and it has a lot of extremely good and memorable moments, along with a kickass soundtrack and one of the strongest visual identities in all of gaming.

When I say this though keep in mind that I am mainly speaking about the plot itself because some of the characters (mainly the males) are just not that likeable, have some questionable lines, and one of them in particular is downright weird as a a character. That said that is about the only major complaint I have with game. The combat is fast, fluid, and flashy. It has so much style and it truly does capture that feeling of making you and your team feel like badasses. There is so much complexity withing comboing moves with different personas and there is even 4 different ways you can handle an enemies fate if you can stun all enemies on the field are once. I truly do believe all other turn-based/party-based games should take note from this. The dungeon design is some of the best I've ever seen in games period and it complements the combat greatly. They give you a feeling of truly wanting to explore these elaborate labyrinths the developers created. As if this wasn't all enough to sell as a game as is Persona 5 also has the whole other end of the gameplay spectrum where you live the everyday life of a Japanese high school student. You can work jobs, recreational activities with friends, shop places, study for school, and befriend/romance other characters within the game. This all on paper sounds incredibly boring but in practice it is the glue that hold Persona 5 as a complete package together. It's done with just enough a gameplay segment to feel like you did something but is gone and you are transitioning into another activity within moments. This all gives you experience in various stats that open gameplay options and make you stronger in the dungeon-traversal aspect of the game. It should be commended especially that there is so many different rotating parts and systems within the game that all interlock and complement each other perfectly. In the graphics department you are covered as well as this game comes with one of the best art styles I've seen in recent years and shows even with less photo-realism you can still create something beautiful to look at. This game really captures the feeling of playing an interactive manga/anime tv show with over 100 hours of content to delve into. This game came really close to a 10 for me but unfortunately about half the characters not being very interesting or likeable in a game that is about 50% cutscenes/text held it back from that kind of game for me. I also had very minor issues with the fact that some areas lock you into a fixed camera angle which can make interacting with objects kind of irrating (although it looks great during the platforming sections within the dungeons.) Overall though this is a must buy no-matter what if you are a true fan of story-based rpg's even with it's few niggling flaws nothing can hold it back from the things that it sets out to do it does all damn-near perfectly for the most part. When you are playing it nothing can hold it back from it's greatness, there is something about just playing it that feels so masterclass. It's the kind of game that just keeps you completely entertained and intrigued from start to finish. 9.5/10 Expand

As a normal user, I have only put about 10 hours into the game so far, but the experience has been great, the presentation is stellar.
What surprised me is that the story starts on a high pretty quickly, introducing some fundamental movement and battle concepts as a sort-of tutorial. Not until about five hours into the game it is that things settle down a bit and exploration and day planning starts.
Granted the framework of the game and the type of characters is very familiar to people who played previous Persona games, but the presentation is so much better. If I would describe the art style, it is similar to Atlus' puzzle game "Catherine".
There is now much more voice acting than e.g. in Persona 4 Golden, and it feels like a lot of time has been spent on the localization, so the experience is very polished.
From the experience so far, this it is a great JRPG title that is not afraid on taking on more serious topics like abuse of students by teachers and sexual assault that is tolerated by the surroundings, while also blending in more light-hearted elements.

The dungeons are now fun, instead of rng tunnels. You can manage your time more easily. But most importantly the persona fusion system is much, much better.

Combat has seen some tweaking, with the introduction of guns (with limited ammo) and a whole range of new perks to unlock from a fantastic range of people. And thank GOD the double-weak stun mechanic is gone. However, if you as the MC die it's still game over. It's not a big issue, but it still sometimes annoys me when stars align and I get killed before I can do anything about it. 45 hours into the game, and it has happened once, so it's not something you should judge the game upon.

The soundtrack is the best in the series. P3 had a few really great tracks, P4 was kinda 'safe' for a lack of a better word but P5 went all out and struck gold. My weeabooism requires me to play with undub and if you do the same you'll hear many prominent voices, and while they do a great job having Gintoki and Kinpachi in the same room is just begging for "herpes, herpes me!"

If you're looking for an entry game into the series, start with 3 (FES), then 4. You won't be disappointed with either title; they're phenomenal. But if you start with 5 you're kinda spoiled, since it just doesn't get any better than this.

In an age where where all we are getting is garbage multiplayer, rushed, unfinished, over-hyped, broken games, Persona 5 proves that there are devs out there that still care about producing quality games.

I was very skeptical at first because I'm really not into the wide eyed, hyper skinny anime style atlus is known for (I'm more into the cowboy bepop style of anime) but I got over that pretty quickly because the story and characters are so well done. I'm in love with the cast so far which is incredible because I was going to skip the game because I didn't like the way the main characters look. The combat is turned based which I thought would turn me off because I've been playing action RPG's only for so long, haven't played a turn based game since Final Fantasy X on PS2 but I was pleasantly surprised how much fun, satisfying and thought provoking Turn Base combat is. Persona 5 definitely changers it up however to make it more contemporary and flashier than most other turn based rpg's..Now my favorite part of this game so far has to be the motion graphics/graphic design.. from the menu screen and the battle system UI, its so incredible what they did with this because I get excited just from going through the menu screen. This game just has so much energy and I can't believe that in 2017 Japanese RPG's are making a comeback.

This is the best persona entry out there and one of the top JRPG's ever made :D

+Characters (Soejima returns and designed these characters; this is probably my fav cast in terms of appearance especially their phantom outfits)
-------> The development of each character is pretty fleshed out except for Haru and the lack of fun scenes in P4 like the ski trip, camping etc...

+Animation (God Tier; Sick menus and cutscenes; the most unique style of gaming out there)

+Music (Best Shoji Meguro tracks ever made, and LYN does an amazing job singing those!!! Favorite ones are Wake up get out there, Life will Change, Blooming Villain and Rivers in the Desert

+Gameplay (Battles are revamped and lots of new additions like the baton pass and free time feels more bigger and better; various different activities to do like batting, playing video games and etc..

There is simply no cons in this game. I like the theme of this game where these kids are rebelling against society to these ****** up people and there's a lot of mature/dark stories surrounding this whole journey!

It was a blast and I cannot wait for Atlus to make P6 and ofc the P5 spinoffs!!!
Go out and get it if you haven't already; this is simply the best games out there in the console market and it was well worth the wait :D

You should know that your own enjoyment will depend on one thing: are you interested in a LOT of story, with fighting mixed in sometimes? You can technically spend a ridiculous amount of time in dungeons, but the focus is on story. Find someone playing it on Twitch, and you'll either like the idea of that kind of game or you won't.

It has a ton of voiced dialogue, and the voice acting is good. The game follows a calendar, so the story progresses day by day. I absolutely love the game, but it's important to realize that its focus is telling a story instead of hours of grinding to advance the story.

I just finished Persona 5 after ~90 hours. The only thing that came close to this emotion was when I finished the Harry Potter series the night after the last book came out.

This game is simply a masterpiece - if you've ever even remotely enjoyed an RPG (even if it was just a brief stint with Pokemon Blue), you will love this game. Story, art style, music, characters, level design, customization... I could go on about everything that makes this game one of the best of the decade. Of course no game is perfect - in particular, I found some of the forced story sequences/hand-holding to last a little too long (I specifically remember one chunk of story-driven narrative lasting 30+ minutes before I could even find a place to save). But the sheer brilliance of everything else far outshines this, and I would give this game 11/10 if I could.

Persona 5 is without doubt one of the best games I've ever played in my 28 years on this planet, and is one I'm sure will be remembered as the pinnacle of JRPGs (actually, just RPGs in general) for the early 21st century.

The apex of JRPG. For me a 10/10 game is a game that defines a genre, if a friend of mine would like to try a JRPG for the first time Persona 5 would be the game that I would recommend. This was my first experience with Persona series and oh boy....who would guess that this game would be for me the best game of this generation, even surpassing The Witcher 3.

I always enjoyed RPG's but regarding JRPG's there was always something that kept me away from them (the closest experience that I had with these games was with the Kingdom Hearts series). The reason that i decided to try this game was because of the Universal acclaim that this game had received. After 136h I can say this was one of the most wonderful experiences that I had in my 10 years of gaming.

Now why did i fell in love with this game:

    - Interesting characters: I loved each time that i could hang out with them and learn new thing about them. You could even romance some of them, which would unlock new scenes with them during events like Christmas eve, School festival etc, you can even bring them to your room to "study". In the end of the game I feel very attached to each one of them, particularly the members of Phantom thieves.

    - Great and mature Story: Do not be deceived by the "cartoonish" looks of the game, it approaches themes like sexual exploration of students made by a teacher, plagiarism committed by a supposed famous artist, etc. From the beginning to the end the story never loses his focus and is always very nice. Seeing the development of the phantom thieves from the beginning to the end is amazing.

-Amazing combat: Persona 5's turn based combat is one of the best that i have seen, i never got bored fighting the shadows and exploring their weakness was always fun! I was always eager to get in a new fight and use my newly fused persona's.

    - Beautiful art-style: Everything in this game is stylish, from the beautiful city of shibuya, to the cool desing of the palaces, even the menu is very stylish. The design of the Persona's is awesome too.

    - Amazing soundtrack: From the soundtrack used in battles, to the soundtrack used in the city during the night, or during emotional dialogues with your confidants, everything regarding the soundtrack was amazing. I still find me singing the songs in my head.

-World: I never felt boring walking around in shibuya or in the other districts of Tokyo, during the day and night you always have things to do, like taking a bath to increase your charm, watch a movie with your girlfriend, work in a part time job to earn money and increase other social stats, help your confidants with their problems etc. This was always cool because you could see the grown that caused in your character (being more proficient, kinder, charmer, etc) and the development of your relationships with your confidants.Overall living your life as a student during the day and a phantom thief during the night was very entertaining, I never felt bored.

I enjoyed every single hour of my 136h with the game, and honestly I cannot find many negative issues with the game. The graphics were not the best, you can clearly see that this game was built for last-gen consoles (Ps3), but that was not a big issue because the art-style as I said before was amazing. One of the things that I would like was to see the impact of your grades in your classmates opinion, in spite of the fact that you were one of the best in your school your classmates never changer their opinion regarding you, but that for me was a very small issue. I would also like to see the impact of your romance on your teammates of the phantom thieves, they basically never became aware that you are romancing someone (even if you are romancing someone from the team), but I understand why Atlus made that decision (to preserve the harem route). However overall these issues were pretty minimal, and I still believe that this game deserves a 10. Right now I am in a "end-game-hangover", after spending 2 months playing this game I terribly miss the Phantom thieves...that speaks for how good the game is. I am thinking in starting watching the anime, maybe that will relieve me of this feeling.

If you are thinking in playing a JRPG I definitely recommend this one, It will be one hell of adventure!

One of the best RPG games that altered my life's schedules. When I thought about this game while doing something else, the combat mode seemed a bit repetitive, but somehow, the combat doesn't disappoint. It's not just about turn-based combat though. It's also about making the best decisions in your RPG grind and a thoughtful story with character development.

    10/10.

Totally loved the game and most important, it's incredible good story. I'm an old player, so I have no problem with Turn-Based combat system, but Persona 5 has totally renewed it to me, in a very tasteful way. I approve.

Persona 5 will steal your heart, and it wasn't hard as you will be giving it willingly.

This is the game that will redefine JRPG for years to come. I might be slightly biased on this game because I've been a Persona fan ever since it was just called Shin Megami Tensei and not widely known as Persona. But just when I thought they could not perfect the game anymore after P4 and P4 Golden,

This is the game that will redefine JRPG for years to come. I might be slightly biased on this game because I've been a Persona fan ever since it was just called Shin Megami Tensei and not widely known as Persona. But just when I thought they could not perfect the game anymore after P4 and P4 Golden, they came out swinging with P5.

It's difficult to make turn based combat amazing, but P5 managed to make that a realization. One of the common complaints we had with P4 and P4G was the dungeon crawler parts could be a drag. That has been improved with P5 as well. The dungeons now are even more thematic and even more fun.

The social links (they are called confidants now) are coming back in P5 and with a much bigger emphasize on it this time. Atlus has realized that the social activities and links are the major selling points for Persona games and it has been given the love and respect it deserves. An improvement from P4, your social links are actually bigger, have more impacts and you will have a bigger area of Tokyo to explore and do activities on.

Old school Shin Megami Tensei fans will be happy to learn that Persona Chat feature is back in this game. If you remember, this feature has been missing since Persona 3 and I could not be happier that they're back.

The entire UI and game interface felt like an experimental art by Atlus, but by god, they work wonderfully. Even the transition phase between screen has been done in such a masterful way that I can't help but smile watching them.

One thing that I do have to mention that this game wears its Japanese culture proudly. They are still a very conservative country that still mocks homosexuality and other things that they feel outside of the norm. The best part? Persona doesn't feel like they need to change that just to suit the justice warriors of the west. So, if you are easily offended by things that actually wasn't real (a.k.a this game), skip it. Even the game disclaimer will mock you about it. This is a game that was not afraid to push the boundaries of what the soft western society will view as unacceptable. Trust me, this game will drag you through the depth of human's darkness and deepest desire while you're kicking and screaming. Again, if you're too sensitive for those things like most are these days, skip it. Persona will not change to suits your new western standard.

Persona 5 will do to JRPG what The Witcher 3 did with open world RPG, redefines the genre and set a new gold standard on it.

If you're an old Persona players, or even just started with P4 or P4G, this game is absolutely a must buy. Everything that we loved about P4 has been improved and everything that we hated has either been reworked or removed.

If you're new to Persona or even a JRPG in general, there's no better game to get your hand on.

    Well done, Atlus.

Persona 5 is an absolutely amazing game that convinces with its art style, music and story. It has anything one could ask for such a game and more. The turn-based battle system offers a wide array of opportunities. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely recommended to give it a go.

Persona 5 beats every other turn-based RPG in terms of production values, combat, story, symbolics, character design, music, pace and variety. 2017 is a great year for gaming and Persona 5 confirms this with a load of unmatched swagger.
