    Beautiful game, incredible, hard to describe, it's been a long time since I felt like this with a game, if you're looking for a quality JRPG to play, you can go with Persona 5, best JRPG I've played in years.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love this game and adore the characters. The leads are a very colorful cast of miscreants and outcasts. Fun game with a great mix of challenge. Colorful and fantastical presentation, some cringe worth and silly dialogue, but hey they are a bunch of teens and adults trying to sound cool in front of said teens. The issues I have is the third act falls apart before and after the climax, the need for Atlus to make replay-ability like its predecessors. Only issue with that is they did not make any other reason, to do so, like other games in which you get different plot lines, alternate endings strictly for completing it multiple times, like Nier Automata or hell even New Gundam Breaker. The sole reason to complete it again is for the different personas, but then you realize, you have played the same dungeons, same side quest, four to five times for personas to beat the same dungeons and bosses you have already beaten several times before. The game is far from perfect, but it is still an awesome game.… Expand

    This game just made me happier in my life. This game is all you need when feeling frustrating, or sad, or anything at all. It makes you cry, laugh and enjoy. It is my favourite game, by far, after 20 years playing RPGs and more specifically, JRPGs.

    My only complaint is that this game is far too long. I've got nothing against long games, but near 100 hours is too much in my opinion. If it was a bit shorter I would probably give it a 10, but it started to drag towards the end.

    Persona 5 was the first JRPG I've played in my life and it pretty much changed my thoughts torwards the JRPG genre.
    First of all, the story is fantastic! It's extremely long, it takes at least 80 hours to finish but it's very well written and fun to go through, thanks to the surprising amount of plot twists and turns.
    Gameplay-wise, it's quite challenging but very addictive; in fact, the    Persona 5 was the first JRPG I've played in my life and it pretty much changed my thoughts torwards the JRPG genre.
    First of all, the story is fantastic! It's extremely long, it takes at least 80 hours to finish but it's very well written and fun to go through, thanks to the surprising amount of plot twists and turns.
    Gameplay-wise, it's quite challenging but very addictive; in fact, the whole game is one of the most addictive single-player videogames I've played in a while! I could play for 5+ hours straight and feel that it wasn't enough.
    The combat is turn based and you can control every character from your party. You can use various type of attacks, items, mechanics, and Persona attacks while spending HP or SP (stamina) with each one of the characters.
    By the way, when you knock down all the targets, you can use an All-Out Attack, but you can also have conversation with the targets instead, in order to collect them as Personas or steal. All those mechanics are wonderful.
    The cast is definitely one of my absolute favorites in a videogame so far.
    Also, I cannot praise enough how impressive the soundtrack and the art style of the game are; they're absolutely god-tier!
    Lastly, during free roam, you can basically do whatever you can do in real life in order to improve your social stats that affect your relationships you make with the other characters.
    However, the story has some pacing issues and the freedom you're given outside of the metaverse feels quite limited.

    One of the most fun turn based strategy games ive ever played. Both the combat gameplay and the life management gameplay are fun and engaging. Characters are diverse and interesting. Main plot takes a bit to get going but really gets going in interesting directions.     a great game, the royal version turned Persona 5 from an 8 to a 10 for, 120 hours that never bored me and when i finished the game i felt so empty tht wanted to replay it one more time

    Used to be obsessed with videos on you tube about the game and when I finally got to get a PlayStation and played it, it lived up to the hype. Absolutely love it, it is a masterpiece.

    One of the best JRPG's of all time. Persona 5 was the first JRPG i have ever played and i F**KIN loved it. I played Persona 5 Royal more but i would recommend Persona 5 Royal AFTER playing Persona 5 because you will notice the changes.

    I first saw persona 5 when i checked this website a couple of years ago. Upon seeing the positive reviews, I decided to give it a go, even though the gameplay didn't particularly pull me in from youtube footage. I had intended for this game to be my last ps4 game. I was starting to have enough of gaming as a whole, for many reasons. I ended up playing a game so good, that I decided toI first saw persona 5 when i checked this website a couple of years ago. Upon seeing the positive reviews, I decided to give it a go, even though the gameplay didn't particularly pull me in from youtube footage. I had intended for this game to be my last ps4 game. I was starting to have enough of gaming as a whole, for many reasons. I ended up playing a game so good, that I decided to never stop gaming. it reinvigorated my love for gaming. It is one of the rare games i wish i had not played, because now, i will never be able to experience it anew. Despite being a ps3 game, it surpassed my expectations, and it will be enjoyable for eternity.

    Best stuff: the artistic vision and unique game design/ui. the awesome music. the loveable characters. the personas themselves remind me of my childhood with pokemon. The things to do in tokyo.

    What could have improved the game: Joker's lack of voice, absence of character customisation in game - wait its DLC...

    In conclusion: The game is practically flawless, it kept me fully interested for so many hours, and is memorable and fun. For a month, the phantom thieves became my only and best friends. I don't know how they made the characters feel as real as they felt to me. I give this game a 93/100    … Expand

    One of my favorites of all time I love the characters and the overall look of the game is amazing. Weakest of the persona protagonists imo and the story itself drags pretty hard in places but after replaying it 4 times it still is something I could see myself coming back to.

    Good story and enjoyable RPG game would recommend and play again. The world's are well thought out and the personas you both get and fight have there own personality. The characters are well thought out with there own storyline and impact on the story.     Looks aesthetically amazing, and feels good to play. Music, etc. Is top quality as always. However the main cast lacks in the writing department after their respective Palaces and Confidants are finished. Antagonists are a mixed bag in quality. I felt every second of my 80 hour playthrough was well spent and I was tearing up at the end, not because the ending was sad, but because I was sad that I wasn't going to spend any more time with the characters I loved in a world I truly cared about. Persona 5 has a few minor problems, but they don't hold the game back from being one of the best I've ever played.     The combat system and the story are well made and let you enjoy the game without making it boring, even though it is a long game (around 60-80h)
    Don't worry about the name, you don't have to play the preceding titles, since they're all stand-alone stories.

    This game made me realize how important a good cast can be, and it got me into RPGS, and turn based battles. The story is great, the gameplay is great, the setting is great, the art style is great, the waifus are great and the soundtrack is god tier.
    This game has it's issues, but not enough to remove it from my favorite game of all time.

    I never played a Persona game before. Now, it's one of my top 10 games of all time. Maybe the most unique game as well. I didn't expect it to be 80 hours long either.

    The concept is incredible. The presentation is immaculate. The gameplay is flashy and deep. The characters are like friends.

    Must play even on a PS5 and in 2030 if you haven't.

The rpg turn based combat in p5 is the best it's ever been in the persona series. The phantom thieves as a cast of characters are solid but not my favorite.     I very much enjoyed this game. I haven't played a persona game since the very first one, long long ago. There were some noticeable call backs, but the story was unique. The music was excellent, the game mechanics were not too complex, and the story was quite a fun romp. I don't play as many JRPGs as I used to, and I am glad that I decided to give this one a try.

    This game is a huge inspiration to me. The brilliant artwork and music are the perfect topping for the extremely enjoyable story and gameplay. The rpg elements are so smooth and fun, with the quick load-times and extreme customizability. The characters are all great, which is important because the whole game is based around the characters and their struggles. Overall a must play for any rpg fan.

    Some of the best JRPG dungeons ever made. Story is pretty interesting with some great characters. Combat is extremely fun and flashy. Probably in my top 5 JRPG combat systems. Some characters weren't built up enough which makes some of there moments be a bit underwhelming.

    It is a really good game, with a lot to do, the only thing that messed it a bit for me is that i wasn't too invested in the story or gameplay to dedicate so many hours to the progress of the game, nevertheless, an amazing game that anyone should at least try.

    I've played this a long time ago but this is still one of my recommended RPG games to play for the PS4. I still remember the first chapter of the game which is really good. I like the slightly disturbing story of it.

    Love the Persona series, and 5 did not disappoint. Colorful cast of characters, excellent Persona compendium per usual along with great gameplay and plot. Had so much fun playing this and the dialogue between characters is hilarious. Also enjoy how you can build relationships with people.

    Persona 5 was my first persona experience (yeah I'm calling it as an experience) and I f*cking loved it. The game is full of characters and every person you meet has their own identity and character. I enjoy while trying to make and strengthen my bond wit them. With its unique turn-based combat system, battles in Persona 5 never feel boring. An absolute must-play.

    After almost 10 years from 4, Persona 5 is the resurrection of a master series. Great story, and character development. If it wasn't for Royal, which stepped up everything that could be stepped up, it would be easily a 10 for me. It deserves a chance to experience it even if you are not a fun of the genre!

    the Japanese again tried their best this game became popular even beyond the RPG community the first moments were similar to the four, but simplified and sometimes even improved Persians are good as in the previous parts I advise you to get familiar with the game from this part, because persona 3 is an old four for advanced players and a five just for beginners

    This game is pure perfection. Everything is done masterfully. It has the best characters I ever saw on any kind of media, the art style is the best one I saw, the soundtrack is perfect, and the story is divine. It's the best ps4 exclusive, by a mile, and also the best game I played (tying with p5r, p5s, p5d, p3d, p3fes and p4g). Yeah, I really love this franchise.

    - Gameplay is top notch, fun and satisfying, puts a lot of turn based games to shame
    - Characters are unique and diverse while useful, allowing you to play with your favorites freely
    - Customization of demons and skills is through the roof
    - All palaces are interesting and unique, even the most uninspired ones
    - Almost all social confidants, and the variety of them, will give people something to look forward to after the fighting is over
    - Over 80 hours of content, more if you shoot towards the platinum trophy, reaching around 150
    - The soundtrack is phenomenal (albeit overplayed by content creators), everything from relaxing music, pensive music, fighting music and character themes are executed flawlessly, giving a superb flair of style while also making it feel like a game and not an anime

    This is it, the best videogame I have ever played. Where do I even start? How much it impacted me throughout my teenage years and helped me with my struggles? How it expanded my horizons and introduced me to JRPGs, some of my favorite games, Anime and Japanese Culture?... The characters I met in this game, they felt real and very relatable in many ways, they gave me a place to stay and IThis is it, the best videogame I have ever played. Where do I even start? How much it impacted me throughout my teenage years and helped me with my struggles? How it expanded my horizons and introduced me to JRPGs, some of my favorite games, Anime and Japanese Culture?... The characters I met in this game, they felt real and very relatable in many ways, they gave me a place to stay and I felt like I belonged somewhere. The things they all go through really hit me right in the feels, I cheered for them and their motivation to keep going forward and I wanted them to succeed because I was a part of them. Now, for the story, the game touches some very serious and dark themes such as abusing the weak, depression & insecurities, greed for power, anthropology and how humans think & act, carving your own path in society, making your dreams come true by achieving them and not giving up, which in my eyes is one of the most compelling & deep stories I've ever experienced. Personally this game really helped me with my social anxiety and gave me the motivation to escape from it, as someone who just became an adult, I finally have a goal in my life. Enough for the story, let's talk about the flawless combat system, which in my opinion is the most advanced turn based game I've ever experienced, from the very satisfying and fast paced combat mechanics to the masterfully crafted animations, this is a very enjoyable game even for those who aren't into turn based games. As for the social simulator aspect, it's my favorite part of the game, bonding with the characters and experiencing their stories, helping them with their problems, gaining new abilities that enhance the combat mechanics, you can definitely see the effort that was put into the game. I also want to talk about the super stylish animations which are very charming & exciting to look at, the art style is the best I've ever seen period, no other game has such style as this one, from the Showtimes, All-Out Attacks, and special abilities to the menus, everything looks absolutely stunning, and even the in-game animations share this "comic book" art style that fits perfectly into the game, aswell as for the music, which is easily the best soundtrack I've ever heard, not a single song that I don't like, I literally listen to the game's music everyday, it became a part of my life.     My first venture into the massive world of JRPGs. I can't believe what I've been missing. This game is an absolute masterpiece of mechanics and story building. I was almost overwhelmed by how much there was to do to further enhance the story. I plan on playing through again and that's a rare thing for me to say.

    Amazing soundtrack, amazing story, amazing (and sometimes weird) Japanese environment. A great game for those who like the classics JRPG and to chill with a great narrative.

    If you find yourself feeling like an overpowered god in "Royal", just give this game a shot in Hard Mode. Now this is the true "OG" of a good challege. No more added benifical effects to help you. Would reccomend to "Royal" players.

    Persona 5 is an absolutely amazing game that convinces with its art style, music and story. It has anything one could ask for such a game and more. The turn-based battle system offers a wide array of opportunities. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely recommended to give it a go.
