Definetely one of the best things that happened to me in my life. Not sure why Atlus doesn't want to share this masterpiece by translating it to languages other than English and Japanese and porting it to platforms other than ps4, but so it goes. Definetely a game you don't want to miss under any circumstances

Persona 5 royal is a masterpiece that no Gamer should ever miss. The art, the style the combat system, and all those Awesome Personas are just epic, I used to say that ff7 was the greatest rpg ever made ,but Persona 5 is my new #1 on my list of greatest game's ever created. A must buy.

Starting with probably the biggest addition to the game, the new character, Kasumi, and the other new confidant, Maruki, are very big additions that both go towards the new 3rd semester that unlocks after the main campaign is completed. No spoilers, but the biggest disappointment to that is Kasumi is not playable until that point, which is already about 100 hours into the game. Both new characters are introduced during the main game but have very little impact outside of a revised cutscene at the beginning. For people who played the first game a lot, it can be a bit disappointing to know that you have to complete the game yet again to see anything from the new character and how she performs, but it's all worth it once you finally get to the new content at the end. The game does just enough to keep you aware of these two characters and with their respective confidant paths throughout the original story, to make sure their impact is felt in a big way once the new semester starts. And the new story elements in the 3rd semester are very well done. Its not the most original idea I've ever heard of, but it works well in the grand scheme of things.
Outside of the new semester, the new area, Kichijoji, is probably where you'll spend the majority of your time outside of the original locations. The addition of the darts and billiards bar as an element to increase a few now very important battle mechanics is smart and keeps things fun. It also includes a Jazz club to give your teammates a bit more moves to select from to increase their combat capability.
The battle system has had some tweaks that work out well in the end. Technical damage and the baton pass are much more important mechanics this time around as some of the personas had their weaknesses taken away and this is the only way to down them for extra damage. Combined with the new Showtime attacks, the battle system feels a lot more fluid and makes a few old mechanics mean a whole lot more now.
If Persona 5 was one of the best JRPG's in years, then this game only serves to make it better. Atlus does a fine job with these updated games, starting with the P3 game for PSP and P4:Golden for the Vita. This is no exception and something that I can recommend for literally anyone who enjoys JRPG's even in the slightest way. Even long time fans of P5 should find a ton of enjoyment from this. I really hope that Atlus will continue to use Kasumi as canon for the entire storyline going fowards, as I really liked her and the story they came up with for her. For anyone who might be stuck at home right now and not have anything to do, the 120+ hours this will take to complete should be an absolute godsend right now. And a special comment for how easy this game is to Platinum. One playthrough doing everything right will get you the Platinum trophy for this easy. I didn't have to go out of my way to get anything done that I wasn't already doing and, if you take the confidant paths correctly, you'll have tons of time to get them all done towards the end of the game.

Updates to the battle system such as Baton Pass and bullets that regenerate after battle are a godsend and make the resource management of the game a bit less frustrating, only becoming a real problem at the beginning of the last palace in the game. The new characters are absolutely fantastic, and the added story to one of the most interesting characters of the game is interesting enough on it's own to justify this version of the game.

The game is definitely easier than the original, and people used to the genre should probably play it on Hard mode to enjoy the gameplay more. That said there are a couple of bosses that are shockingly hard compared to the others, but it's not so bad that it takes away from the overall experience.

New additions such as will seeds and the grappling hook make the palaces flow much better, and the new characters provide added depth to the social sim aspect of the game that rounds off the game much better than in the original version of the game.

All in all this is a complete masterpiece, and I can't wait to see what Atlus does with the 6th game in the franchise, when they finally move on to a current gen console.

Amazing game with incredibly likable characters, great soundtrack, awesome style and beautiful, thought-provoking storyline that will most likely move you to tears when you reach the endgame. The annoying autokill when you are over leveled has been changed. First l, you have to be "sprinting" to activate the autokill and when you do, you receive loot and exp, not just the persona. Mementos, aguardably, the weakest part of the original game, received a couple mechanics to make it worth exploring although the money farm has been nerfed.

10/10 Expand

It has done the insane job of making an already perfect game even more perfect. Every story addition is meaningful (I loved Kasumi so much that she replaced Makoto as my go-to in-game girlfriend), gameplay tweaks are seamless and nothing feels shoehorned in, which is something which I was kind of afraid of.

I love, love this game so much. It has some of the best characters in any media, a compelling and bittersweet story (especially in the new bits), incredibly fun gameplay, and it's stylish as hell.

And Morgana is not nearly as annoying as he was in the base game!

This is the most 10/10 game I've ever played. It will stay with me for a long time. Atlus has once again done an incredible job.

They even took the time to make characters that didn't seem exist till their arcs appear in some interactions before. You will see them at school, or even walking behind you when you eavesdrop other students when going to school. Did any of those that complain notice it? Probably not, but it's not a game for such people. The amount of detail this game has is something that overcomes their capabilities.
The whole game is a piece of art. Musically awesome (some new songs here too), visually better, now characters have more portraits showing different expressions, new and expanded confidants, cutscenes, activities and places. Some UI tweaks, multi language for people that can't speak English (or Japanese). More Personas and Arcanas. Existing dungeons and bosses had some changes to make them better.
Mementos, which got tiring in the original game as it was too dense and always the same, now was revamped too with many updates, it's actually fun going there! Even the title screen is so much cooler now, the inclusion of the thieves den to have some ingame achievements to unlock and check other stuff like in Persona 4 Golden.
What people complained about so much was solved: Morgana is not bothering you every night telling you to go to sleep which lets you do more activities at night!
Also the English translation had some text tweaked for the better.

It's not for everyone, it's a text heavy game and I understand that some people with short attention span won't like it, but it doesn't make it bad at all. It's a masterpiece. It's Stylesona Enhanced.

I have watched many reviews and spoke to a couple of riends about the game but aside from "you have to play it" (which is true), there is no way to tell you how good this game really is unless you play it yourself. Moreover, it reminded me why I fell in love with JRPGs back in the day.

I am looking forward to play many more hours of this piece of art.

Royal has literally changed my mind on P5. Completely. As in, it’s now my #1 Persona game, dethroning P4: Golden (which I never thought would be possible).

The new content added throughout the original game was just enough to keep things feeling fresh and interesting, despite having played through everything before — and the content added after the end of the original game has been absolutely everything I hoped it would be! I can’t stress that enough. The new characters, the new palace, the new story and situations have all been exactly what I didn’t know I needed and have fully complemented what was otherwise a great game and turned it into, in my opinion, a near flawless experience.

In addition, the new quality of life features were amazing as well (replenishing gun ammo, grappling hook, better ways to acquire and maintain SP, etc). I can’t recommend this enough. To previous or new players. Well worth your time if you like games that focus heavily on characters and their interactions, story, dialogue and choice, fast, strategic, and gorgeous turn-based combat that somehow doesn’t get old even after 90 hours, and tons of content. Easily a 10/10.

Persona 5 Royal allows players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones you never expected to. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe you’ll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won’t feel is regret in picking up Persona 5 Royal, as it’s truly the best Persona title, if not one of the best video games, I’ve ever experienced to date.

All of the new additions and content mean that Persona 5 Royal is a clear upgrade to the original. New players should seek this version without hesitation, although vets may find starting the game over from scratch to be too big an ask. Either way, there’s no doubt that Persona 5 Royal sits proudly on the throne of Peak Persona… or at least it will until Atlus decides they can do even more with it.
