I hope this is just the start for Pathfinder in video games, and I like the future that Kingmaker promises. It's a major time commitment, sure, but Pathfinder: Kingmaker has the kind of narrative arc and development that perfectly captures the essence of playing a tabletop RPG, only in digital form. That's something that I haven't really felt since the era of Baldur's Gate itself and for that I really appreciated what the developers have achieved her.

An impeccable console port of the old-school RPG with a decent control scheme and additions to the already deep battle system.

Controls and obnoxious voice acting aside, Pathfinder delivers exactly what it promises and does so very well. I can’t knock a game for not being something I usually play when it does what it sets out to do it so effectively. From the character creation, to the battle system, to the governing system, Pathfinder is incredibly in-depth. It’s very effectively realized and will steal whole hours of your day before you know it. If you miss the height of tabletops and CRPG’s and you love to fiddle with every nuance and detail in your gameplay, then Pathfinder: Kingmaker is definitely the game for you.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is therefore confirmed as a good quality product even on consoles, proving to be able to obscure some of its shortcomings behind a truly impressive amount of content that will undoubtedly fully satisfy the expectations of the diehards of the category.

If you’re looking for an engaging tabletop RPG experience on the PlayStation 4, then Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition is indeed that game with intuitive turn-based mechanics in a classic archetype setting. Definitely great value for money, especially in a world where we need to stay home at the moment due to COVID-19.

A brilliant cRPG, that got even better in this edition thanks to the many solved bugs and the introduction of an "official" turn based mode during fights.

Thanks to the new turn based combat and the added DLCs, the console version of Pathfinder Kingmaker is on par with the PC one, and comes recommended for all RPG fans.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is an incredible game full of content, capable of entertaining for a countless number of hours, especially considering the Definitive Edition includes all expansions. The porting, unfortunately, suffers from very poor optimization, and managing combat on a pad might prove a bit of a hurdle.

This Definitive Edition brings the PC experience to consoles, and it’s a good option for those who miss Baldur’s Gate, and are happy to discover an indie approach to it.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a phenomenal game with hundreds of hours of deep CRPG and kingdom management gameplay, but at the time of review it's hampered by bugs that impact how you can enjoy the game, and with reports of progression halting issues and save file corruption. Our advice would be to wait for the bugs to be patched, but ready yourself for a serious commitment to this vast CRPG.

With patience you can master the fiddly battle menus, and the wealth of content2 banishes any frustrations to a deep, dark dungeon. Outside of combat menus are a joy to navigate on R2. The sense of immersion helps break down the barriers of the game’s PC origins, as whether it’s cooking campfire meals or using a character’s lore knowledge to seek new narrative pathways, there are roles here you’ll enjoy playing for weeks. Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition is the perfect game for those stuck at home needing something to fill their time. There is so much to do and explore that players will be able to spend hundreds of hours in the game and still not see everything that it has to offer. The bugs are the only major issue, and those will likely be addressed by the developer shortly. Despite the glitches, Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition is still one of the best tabletop-inspired RPGs in recent memory, and will captivate veterans of the genre for hours on end.

Seasoned tabletop players and those who are willing to invest the time and effort into learning the systems could sink their teeth into this one if they're willing to look past its buggy warts, but Kingmaker doesn't offer enough different or intriguing content to win over someone who isn't already invested in this system and world.

Satisfying and frustrating at the same time, Pathfinder Kingmaker does everything right when it comes to its character creator, story, and combat. However, it falters in its Kingdom management and the constant game crashes that start to feel more like a gameplay feature than an actual issue.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition is a good game marred by technical problems on the PlayStation 4. As it stands, it is difficult to recommend to anyone in its current state.

If you were looking forward to dive deep into Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition on consoles, you probably should change your plans. At least for the time being, while the devs are trying to fix their game. Meanwhile, if you still crave that classic role-playing experience, just get yourself Pillars of Eternity or Divinity: Original Sin.

In two days I've had 19 game crashes. These crashes come when saving, so all your progress between the last tine you saved and when the game save you crash while making is just lost. This is my second attempted play through because corrupted saves and weird restrictions on save game file size errors caused me to have to start over. The latest patch didn't fix any issue I was having and added a weird big where I can't pause after combat amd my skill bars disappear until I loot something.

My advice is at least wait until 2021 to purchase amd they might have some of these issues fixed, but the game has been on PC for years and still has issues, so I don't know. I'll post back in a few months if the situation improves.

This feels more like an early access game with it's constant crashing and massive framerate drops not just in the town centre but on other map areas.

I've never been so discouraged from exploring in a RPG game as traveling takes forever and with the bonus that it might crash at any time doesn't help and it's a fully priced game as well.
