Override: Mech City Brawl is a unique mix of colorful chrome plated mayhem and explosive combat that will blow you away.

Despite these flaws, Override: City Mech Brawl is a funny and lighthearted brawler title for everyone, and it's another multiplayer option during a time when consoles seem to be shying away from local cooperative play. It's a title that doesn't take itself too seriously, and it does a solid job of bringing lighthearted giant robot fun to consoles.

Override Mech City Brawl is a hilariously fun experience when it plays to its strengths which is in its battle system and multiplayer. While the game’s single-player campaign can be fun, some players may find it repetitive and too easy. It’s a shame that the online portion isn’t as populated to allow for a snappier experience as the game has a lot to offer for both those looking for a competitive challenge and the ones who just want to ram a giant metal fist into another bot’s face. Thanks to its low price tag, however, maybe you can entice your friends to join in on some of the gear-grinding action.

Override: Mech City Brawl is a game that knows exactly what it is: its short, sweet, and all about explosions and destruction. With the unique styles and appearance of each mech you can clearly feel the care and attention the developers put into having a roster that stood out, but I can’t help but feel with a little more added to the campaign or a few skirmishes or single player touches, this could easily have been a sleeper hit. The combat is fun if a little awkward at first, and customization options are a bit limited, but all in all, this is a game that’s fun to go a few rounds with friends and knows how to entertain players in the short term.

Override: Mech City Brawl is as fun as your attention span will last. There just isn't enough content to keep players coming back for the long haul.

Override: Mech City Brawl presents a fun premise yet unfortunately; it doesn't offer any sort of substantial long-lasting gameplay.

Override: Mech City Brawl has a nice, clean aesthetic with arenas that are fun to stomp around. The campaign offers a nice sense of progression but, once you strip that away, you're left with a fighter that's a little too slow and clunky for my tastes. It's simple to grasp but I feel it lacks a fluidity and immediacy other mech games can offer.

Override: Mech City Brawl is good fun with a friend or two sitting on your sofa, but it lacks the kind of depth that a smaller release like this needs to be consistently compelling. The game's got some cool mech designs and watching big robots tumble through buildings is always enjoyable, but it's just not quite enough to carry the rest of the release.

Override: Mech City Brawl has high aims, but feels a bit clumsy in its execution.

Slightly wobbly on its feet. [Issue#158, p.94]

Override: Mech City Brawl shows a very nice gallery of giant robots, but unfortunately it does not offer the impactfull experience that we expected.
  12. Override: Mech City Brawl is funnier with friends. Use Mechs, destroy your enemy.

Override is a game that had so much potential and could have done something great with more ambition. In the end, no amount of oil could polish this scrap metal into something decent and enjoyable.

The robot designs are varied, they all have really cool special moves, the ability to trash an entire city during a fight is so much fun, and the added 4 players controlling 1 robot is an awesome idea that really channels all those Power Ranger fantasies we all had as kids. But that's the problem, the combat system is tailored for literally just that. It's very tactile and stiff, it's like playing Rock 'em Sock'em robots with specials. The single player just becomes a mindless button mashing affair with no real depth. Full Review »

If you dig mechs and brawling you definitely need this game. I was fortunate enough to get into the beta but didnt want to review anything till release day. The arcade(story) mode is great fun. It does have a Saturday morning cartoon feel the devs were going for. The online modes are great and you can tell the devs have been listening. My favorite is the 4 mech fights. I'm sure a lot are very happy with the split screen option as well. Congratulations to The Balance Inc. for the many years of hard work and an extremely fun game I look forward to spending a lot of hours on. Highly recommended. Full Review »
