Even 20 years after its original release, there is still nothing quite like Outcast. I do prefer the HD version from a few years back, which has more distinct visuals and provides a smoother experience, but it hardly matters when you have a game with such a powerful vision.

A decent remake of a great classic. Outcast: Second Contact could have been more ambitious, but it's a good opportunity for new players to love the world and the exploration of Adelpha.

Outcast Second Contact is a good remake, but not for everyone. Despite some old-school mechanics could prevent someone from enjoying the game (gunplay and matted animations are the two main defendants), Outcast is still imbued with good exploration and an entertaining plot. Give it a chance.

Outcast was a revolutionary game back in the day. Here you’ll find a 2017-looking version of the game that still plays like the original, which is great for its fans, but can be tough for newcomers.

An awesome opportunity to live again this awesome 3D adventure. Outcast: Second Contact is the base of many of the exploration adventures today, but also a game that needed more work in order to offer playable improvements, specially in fields like the character's movement. On the other hand, we can see stunning landscapes.

Outcast: Second Contact is a classic adventure wrapped up in shiny new clothes, but which maintains everything it was born with underneath, for better or worse.

The remake process didn't work has expected. Outcast Second Contact is still an ok game, but nothing more.

Massive visual improvements definitely count for something, but when you can’t fix the original problems with a game’s dated mechanics and design, there’s not much else you can do. Outcast: Second Contact is a solid attempt at returning to the original classic, but it’s far from perfect.

Outcast is a remastered that maintains the feeling of the original version, driven by a good narrative structure that puts the player in a big world populated by different alien races that give a lot of different quest. Instead the gameplay is old and unfriendly, with a graphics that doesn't work well.

A great remaster of a forgotten almost-classic, but most of its flaws were already obvious 18 years ago and this does little to improve any of them.

Has the flavor of an occasion wasted.

On one side of the coin, Outcast: Second Contact is a warranted revisit of a beloved title. It has a fantastically well-constructed narrative that’s a genuine treat to delve in to. However, on the other side of the coin are the terrible combat controls, embarrassingly low-fidelity voiceovers and a bland, bug riddled world design.

Outcast: Second Contact is an eighteen year old game that’s been given a makeover. This is absolutely fine if you’re a fan of the original and want to play it again on modern hardware, but if you don’t have the nostalgia quality there’s absolutely nothing that you won’t find here that’s done far better elsewhere.

Besides the nostalgia that can bring up to the ones that have played the original version, and a decent story, the remake/ remaster of Outcast is full of technical issues and a design that hasn’t aged well at all.

When Outcast Second Contact was announced I was jumping with glee, one of my favourite games of the 90’s finally being remade for the modern age. If only the team had spent more time fixing the performance issues before release.

Once upon a time Outcast was a pioneer. Unfortunately, if Second Contact proves anything, it's that sometimes you should just leave the past alone.

Although its augmentations are selective and skin deep, Outcast remains a generous and uniquely captivating game. [Recommended]

This a remake of a rather old game, and unfortunately the game is actually remade very well but the issues are with the age of the originalThis a remake of a rather old game, and unfortunately the game is actually remade very well but the issues are with the age of the original game shining (or rather tarnishing) through here.

The controls can be awkward but functional, although the shooting mechanics leave a lot to be desired, and enemies can take far too many hits before going down, and getting ammo can be repetitive.

The graphics have been presented very well, but there seems to be some dissonance between staying faithful to the original and trying to modernise the game. A lot of the environments look nice at first, but they eventually become a chore to explore as they can be wide, open areas with little interesting content that gets repetitive quickly.

The plot and character interactions are where the game shines but again this shows its age with some awkwardly dated dialogue that is not fluid or smooth.

If you're quite the fan of the original you might enjoy this, but having played the original I can now see problems that were actually present in the original but because it was the late 90s those issues were not noticeable. Compared to PS4 games today however, this game shows its age a lot. The quests can be very mundane.

The game has a terrific mix of very deep story telling and satisfying shooting mechanics. Even though I only have around 6 hours of play time in, I am now fully invested into seeing this gem of a remaster through to the end. The shooting mechanics take a bit of getting use to but once you get the hang of it its a blast to play. Every NPC is voice acted and there is a ton of dialogue options available that tells a compelling story. The main character you play as has a really cool sense of humor that will make you laugh. The graphics are good and the gameplay is satisfying. If going through portals to see unique worlds meeting tons of NPC's and hearing a grand musical score in a Sci-Fi action RPG is your thing then I strongly recommend this hidden gem. Full Review »

There isn't enough room to write my review here - the full one is over on SquareXO - but what I can say is, if you liked the original game or were ever interested in the first ever 3D Open world game - the one that defined the genre, check it out! The more support this dev gets, the more likely we will see a real sequel as well.
