Interesting small game. Combination of terraria (digging and exploration of undeground), building strategy (use the resources to create soup factory) and little bit of tower defence (competition sometimes attacks you. You need to deal with them).

Main difference from other digging games is goal (100 percent market share). And it does not take so long to reach it. So this is not a infinite game, but nice arcade, where you can finish level in few hours. (but dont be afraid, there is long campaing)

The biggest trouble with this game is the slow start. As you progress between the missions you unlock new technologies. So at the begginign you can build just the basics and you need to manage almost everything in the base by yourselft. "Harvest, insert, ship, repeat" can become boring grind.
But if you pass this stage, you will unlock new tools that will allow you to automate these task. So you dont have to do them yourselft. And game becomes much deeper (building the chains of harvesting robots and robots moving stuff around) and much more fun.

It is not a game for hundreds of hours. But of the cheap price, it is worth the try.

The Pixel Junk brand is synonymous with simple little arcade games. This is not a simple little arcade game. This is a stick your nose in a wiki page for hours and still have no clue about what is going on in this game.

The concept is unique and the closest approximation of games to compare it to is rymdkapsel crossed with Terraria. You are manage a system of production but are manipulating systems by controlling a digging platformer character. The developers clearly wanted to keep the game controller friendly but while playing it you will wish it was a mouse and keyboard game as there is so much going on at once and you need fix it immediately.

A good review is written by someone who has mastered and understands everything going on in a game. I guess this is a terrible review because after playing for hours and hours I still can’t tell you why my AI guy won’t pick up those stupid plants and make me some damn soup so I can send it on the friggin rocketship into outer space.

You're probably saying “didn’t you do the tutorial?”. Yes I did the tutorial. It was one of the worst tutorials I have ever done and it explained almost nothing. I failed one of the tutorial levels six times because I had no idea what I was doing.

Overall I am sure there will be a lot of fans that will love this deep game and perfect the art of making outerspace soup but I wish the Pixle Junk brand would go back to the simplicity it is known for.

The mix of genres in the game is original, but also confusing.

Nom Nom Galaxy is a sandbox experience with both platform and strategic/tower defense features. This particular nature make it pretty unique but also short-lived.

Nom Nom Galaxy is a functional game with good art direction, sound, and story; however, I found that I was forcing myself through each level without really being engaged in the process. I do have a strong urge to go make some soup though.
