You have to create platforming, mining, construction(base building),resource-management and tower defence. Within the game players land on huge remote planets within the fictional galaxy, players will have to find new ingredients with their handy buzzsaw. Once the basic soup factory you can explore the remote plants to clear space to start expanding on what you can sell and dominate the market of the soup world.

So that’s the basic of the game now lets get on to what I think of the game, lets start on gameplay. Well when I first loaded the game up on my ps4 it reminded me of playing Super Mario Brothers but with the destructible world of Terraria, the only difference is you have oxygen which you have to keep an eye on cause if you don’t you will not get far. Don't worry though there are oxygen pockets dotted around the planets, the one thing I loved about this game was the research to unlock upgrades to your little astro dude and even your weapons to help fight against invading enemies from rival factory's .

Now lets talk about the galactic challenges which are a separate area to the core gameplay and really work towards social gameplay and long-term engagement with friends or even complete strangers, all the challenges are based around racing, defending, swimming and more which makes them unique as you are rewarded if you protect your position which you can transfer the them into the core game.

Overall Nom Nom Galaxy is a great game if you like open world, build how you like indie game, it has vast features and unlocks in which you can play though to until you heart is content to unlock them. It also has quite a few trophies for you to help improve your expanding profile. Beside everything this game has to offer I feel like Pixel Junk can easily expanded this game with future DLC.

    Positives
    • Large open world planets
    • Enormous range of challenges and recipes
    • Tactical thinking when being attacked

    Negatives
    • Tutorial was a bit to long and is needed before playing with friends.

Interesting small game. Combination of terraria (digging and exploration of undeground), building strategy (use the resources to create soup factory) and little bit of tower defence (competition sometimes attacks you. You need to deal with them).

Main difference from other digging games is goal (100 percent market share). And it does not take so long to reach it. So this is not a infinite game, but nice arcade, where you can finish level in few hours. (but dont be afraid, there is long campaing)

The biggest trouble with this game is the slow start. As you progress between the missions you unlock new technologies. So at the begginign you can build just the basics and you need to manage almost everything in the base by yourselft. "Harvest, insert, ship, repeat" can become boring grind.
But if you pass this stage, you will unlock new tools that will allow you to automate these task. So you dont have to do them yourselft. And game becomes much deeper (building the chains of harvesting robots and robots moving stuff around) and much more fun.

It is not a game for hundreds of hours. But of the cheap price, it is worth the try.

This game has a nice calm atmosfear to it. Seems very simple but as time prograsses things can get pretty hectik. I found this game strangly addicting and calming, the music and art style is superb. For this price its an absolute steal.

The game is very slow, and feel very sluggish and over complicated. The jumping mechanic is awful, and I don't recommend this game to anyone that want's to have some fun.

The score of this game is matter of taste. If you enjoy wasting time with Terrarias and others, welcome. In rest it has a too slow start and the tutorial is not sufficient if not worse. I was attracted by the trailer, but the result of me trying to play this game was zero.

a real yawn fest, terraria meets some sort of lame robot soup tycoon game. Awful. No need for this game to exist, or anyone to play it no wonder ps4 offered it for free. It is a waste of time

The Pixel Junk brand is synonymous with simple little arcade games. This is not a simple little arcade game. This is a stick your nose in a wiki page for hours and still have no clue about what is going on in this game.

The concept is unique and the closest approximation of games to compare it to is rymdkapsel crossed with Terraria. You are manage a system of production but are manipulating systems by controlling a digging platformer character. The developers clearly wanted to keep the game controller friendly but while playing it you will wish it was a mouse and keyboard game as there is so much going on at once and you need fix it immediately.

A good review is written by someone who has mastered and understands everything going on in a game. I guess this is a terrible review because after playing for hours and hours I still can’t tell you why my AI guy won’t pick up those stupid plants and make me some damn soup so I can send it on the friggin rocketship into outer space.

You're probably saying “didn’t you do the tutorial?”. Yes I did the tutorial. It was one of the worst tutorials I have ever done and it explained almost nothing. I failed one of the tutorial levels six times because I had no idea what I was doing.

Overall I am sure there will be a lot of fans that will love this deep game and perfect the art of making outerspace soup but I wish the Pixle Junk brand would go back to the simplicity it is known for.

People saying "This game is complicated and needs to be played with Wiki". No, it doesn't. Actually, it is so simple to understand that even a child's IQ is enough to get what's going on. Experience and trial and error teaches everything to you (and you've got the simulation mode to try everything. People saying "this game is a waste" (giving it a zero, are you nuts?). No, it's not. It's one of the best games ever granted by ps plus. If you don't play it, don't give it a chance, you can't love it. The more you play, the more it is full of surprises. Try the simulation mode and you won't understand how hours go by. I needed to elevate my score from 9 to 10 due to some strange individuals trying to sabotage the score of this wonderfully cute game by giving it a zero. This game is relatively simple, surely fun and most of all, very very addictive... It represents what a game must stand for. I left Battlefront for a long while to play this little, simple and original piece of art. 10 out of 10. . Expand

I platinumed this game and the process caused permanent damage to my psyche. This game makes everything in your life significantly worse. Just... don't.

Nom Nom Galaxy's campaign leaves you wanting more after its lengthy playtime. Dividing responsibilities between expanding your soup factory and automating your mushroom farms is something I haven't seen in many games.

Nom Nom Galaxy is a sandbox experience with both platform and strategic/tower defense features. This particular nature make it pretty unique but also short-lived.

Nom Nom Galaxy is a functional game with good art direction, sound, and story; however, I found that I was forcing myself through each level without really being engaged in the process. I do have a strong urge to go make some soup though.
