    Definitely better than the first one in terms of battle and gameplay, and what you could do in it. Very fun and enjoyable! I love RPG’s do this one was nicely done. Good orchestrations along with it. Real time combat is something I’m a sucker for and they do it so well here! Definitely worth a buy.

    I did not play the first part, but saw the second one in a store. I never played Japanese rpgs before, except FF, but I liked it from the beginning. Good, solid story, nice graphics and easy combat. I liked the mini games which were strategic and funny. Maybe I give the remastered first part a chance :) Would give 8,5 if it would be possible.

    For everything this game seems to do right, there's something that comes around that brings it back down. The combat in the game is a very well done action RPG style that I thought was the best part of the game. However while the combat is extremely fun and engaging, the extremely cookie-cutter story is beyond boring and seemingly meant for a much younger audience. I kinda expected that but there were moments where it was almost agonizingly hard to get through. I found myself just skipping alot of the dialogue towards the end because I just really didn't care about what was going on. The main reason to keep playing was the kingdom building aspect of the game. It's how you get basically all of the upgrades throughout the game and gaining new citizens to build up your kingdom was the highlight for me. I wasn't impressed that EVERY side quest devolved into a fetch quest. There are so many fetch quests in this game it could probably have been added as a subtitle to the game. Nothing was too hard to come by, even though there are a few quests that are oddly misplaced in where they are available in the game. Meaning there are some that were designed for items you get in the end game they ask for early on and vice-versa. It seems like a bit of an oversight. The main thing I can say about this game is that at least the story was more bearable then the first game. It's not as kiddy as the first game was, but its still extremely boring at times because it was clearly made with a younger audience in mind. I could recommend this to anyone who's pre-teens might be wanting to get into a light JRPG style game. As the combat and kingdom building parts are actually very good. It's just hard to recommend to anyone over that age because that's not exactly this games target audience IMO.… Expand

    Lack of challenge, Lack of challenge, Lack of challenge! Everything about this game is good, but the lack of challenge almost single handlely destroys it. The game is an classic jrpg, you grind, fight, upgrade, repeat. In a nutshell, combat is a hack and slash/classic jrpg style. The story was ok, a slow trudge until you reach the ending which I enjoyed. The characters were ok, none stoodLack of challenge, Lack of challenge, Lack of challenge! The characters were ok, none stood out, they were just there.. Kingdom building was what hooked me (for the first 10 hours or so), side missions for recruiting citizens to come work for you, in turn lets you research new abilities. I also enjoyed the boss battles of this game it's fun and diverse. Basically, core gameplay and it's elements are all good, it just depends on how tolerant you are to repetitiveness. But as I said, the lack of challenge in this game killed it, it could've been something better, more rewarding, etc. No challenge meant of all the items you can buy in this game, and I only stuck to potions to health, mana and revive. No challenge meant every time an enemy drops a loot, I go "ok" cool; instead of wow I wonder what it does! No challenge meant research into new abilities which take up to 30 minutes for a ability that you may or may not use a lot doesn't feel rewarding. I think you get the point. To end, slightly disappointed in the sequel to ni no kuni which I LOVED. They changed the combat for the worse, and although a tales like combat is fine, the lack of challenge ruined it. I can recommend this at full price only if you're looking for a decent jrpg, otherwise wait for it to drop if you're looking for something more.… Expand

    This game is good and visually is great! I liked many of the changes they made, but I didn't care for the change from monsters gaining levels to players. If this had been the only NI No Kuni I had played then my rating would have been higher.

    However, because of the changes there is no longer a need to grind levels or fight over and over just to get that monster you desire. In other    This game is good and visually is great!     Overall I think the game is worth the price, but Its definitely lacking in quite a few areas. First off the game is extremely easy. You will be killing things much higher level than you to feel any sort of challenge. The story is also very dry and childish. It's about a boy who wants to build a kingdom where everyone can live "happily ever after." After the 60th fetch quest to find more loyal subjects, I couldn't care less. This is especially true when you realized you could of probably used your level 10 weapon throughout the entire game. With no difficulty incentive, and a bad story, I often asked myself why I kept playing. Needless to say after about 25-30 hours of gameplay I rushed to the end as fast as possible to wrap things up.

    It's a gorgeous game with a great sound track... but the world building and overall immersion just wasn't there.    … Expand

    On tge other hand, the end comes too soon via a relatively simplistic story with minimal character and plot development, the game is VERY easy, and ultimately all the kingdom developement and gear grinding literally    This game was good.

There isn't anything to challenge you or any true justification for all the citizen collecting and kingdom upgrading you did by the end game, aside from personal satisfaction (Okay, and the 10th dreamer's door, but that is really just there to justify post-game grinding and thats not enough for me).

    I truly enjoyed the game, though the ending fizzled, and I found myself skipping dialogue by the end (which I almost NEVER do).

    I don't think anyone interested will regret buying this game, but I don't think anyone will be missing out if they skip it either. I'm trading mine in now, without bothering with more than a few hours of post-game.    … Expand

    Ni no kuni 2 unfortunately fails in several major departments, the action rpg aspects suffer in several areas, healing for instance is pretty terrible especially as you progress further into the game. The higgledies if anything, are more annoying and a bothersome mechanic that doesn't really work too well, give me some proper healing spells instead of opening up menus and eating some candy or relying on the higgles to heal...which is far too hit/miss to rely on it.

    Combat mechanics also feels weak, most battles can be won by spamming aoe attacks. Occasionally you might get a few monsters that actually present a challenge causing the player to actually attack with a bit of strategy but most of the time its button mashing, the dodge and blocking skills are almost useless, well dodge is your more useful defensive skill - blocking is pretty much useless as you're facing sometimes upwards of 10 mobs in anyone battle and from all sides that you're character will get hit off-screen regardless, not that it really matters.

    The quest system is far too drawn out and laborious, even grindy at times with many quests giving you vague, even cryptic information often requiring trial and error or simply checking up a guide, this isn't good side quest material and needs to be better.

    Managing the kingdom again, feels like padding out game time - all the times worth in real time, and are paused when you log off the system. Although, the timers are not terribly long - it still feels unnecessary to force the player to check back to collect kingdom gold every once in a while to keep upgrading the city, even the strategy battles feels like an unnecessary mini-game to pad out the time as well, this was a major flaw in the original NNK but the opposite as the original game was super short, NNK has padded out the gametime as much as possible often creating a boring, almost borderline grindfest moments.

    Whilst NNK2 isn't a bad game, its got more than a few moments when it shines. Some of the questionable flaws, all the mechanics thrown into the mixing pot and all the gameplay padding weaken the experience. Overall, it is a pretty good game but far from perfect.    … Expand

    The story this time around is much less personal.. its vewry politics heavy.. hes just a child that wants to make the world a better place. .a lot of cgrowing and learning to hopefully become a great leader of this land and because of this less personal tale, I had less interest in how the game played out overall…
    The first game had a slow but beautiful build up and introduction to its characters, this time around everything is sped up, youre told your motives in passing, everything happens so fast, and I just found myself not caring.
    So no good story, were off to a bad start..
    Thankfully the gameplay and rpg ellements of this game keep you hooked for this games roughly 30 hour campaign..
    unfortunately also changed is the pokemon aspect.. youre no longer collecting monsters, instead theres an action rpg twist, when youre roaming the open lands youre in chibby form and youre pulled into a little arena to battle, and hwen youre in tighter spaced evrythiong is pulled in and its much more westernized where you hop right into battle and go, the combat system is much more simpler this time around, magic is rewarded quickly and spent with the hold of a trigger and the press of an action button, leaving combat to be fast and fluent requiring little strategy…
    however the strategy of the first game is what made me fall in love with it aside from the pokemon character collecting aspects..
    here not much thinking is required… hack and slash your way through battles..
    things are so easy that I found boss battles to be easer than regular random encounters…
    I still had fun with all of this though, opening chests and picking up loot, throwing loot on my part members which like the first game can be swapped through during battle at anytime, and you can bring up to 3 members into combat, gaining new party members as you get deeper into the story..
    There are also thewse little higgledy characters you can collect by trading them items that will join you to aid oyu in battle with elemental damage or healing you.
    the good of this game ends thers, in it combat..
    the rest it just sets out to take away all of the heart and charm this series had…
    theres and insane lack of cutscnes and voice acting here.. giving you more reason to not care whats going on.. theres a little siege battle mini game that adds absolutely nothing to the game, and the worst addition the kingdom management that sets out to turn this giant jrpg into a mobile game, if jrpgs weren’t long enough, you now have to wait hours in real time for your kingdom to collect currency for you to build stations and set out residence to do research so you can craft the best gear…
    you aren’t bothered with amanging this kingdom, but there are definitely speedbumps that stop story progression until you build your kingom up to a certain point…
    so youre forced to go out and do sidequests to recruit new citizens for your kingdom
    it feels like a giant time waster, I don’t necessarily hate that it’s a thing.. you are a little adorable king after all.. but I hate that its forced on you at times and runs on a free to play mobile game timer nonsense, I didn’t find the kingdom to be necessary at all as the combat is so easy here…
    but I do like the new fast travel options making this forced sidequest bit not too much of hassle..
    and I did love the design of this world its towns and its bosses…
    If theres one thing this series does right its world building…
    im disappointed that this isn’t more of what the first game was…
    but this is still a solid game..
    sure youll have to bite down and pull yourself through the mobile garbage, and skim theough the boring generic feeling story…
    but in between these bits is a great and addictive jrpg set in a world that feels connected and real.

Addictive like hell, not perfect but i love it, especially amazing kingdom building where i can develop everything I need: spells, armor, weapons, food, skills and tons of everything else. Combat is fun and smooth, similar to Persona 5 but only with real time fighting, sadly the game is just too easy, it's almost impossible to die and every fight is so short that i can't fully enjoy. Almost perfect combat mechanics hidden somewhere in the game with no difficulty settings. Deeper narrative and more balanced gameplay could make this game contender to the game of the year awards, but it is how it is...… Expand

    With 60+ hours logged so far, I can definitely say that this is one of the best RPGs I've ever played. The first thing I have to point out is the game's visual presentation. Not only is the overall style just so cool (I literally felt like I was playing through a Miyazaki movie!), but there's clearly so much effort put into the visual presentation. The first thing I have to point out is the game's visual presentation. Not only is the overall style just so cool (I literally felt like I was playing through a Miyazaki movie!), but there's clearly so much effort put into the visual presentation. There's a ton of really smooth and detailed character animation (both the pre-rendered and real time animation both looked amazing), the enemies all have really unique models that tie in well with their attack patterns (and different versions of the same enemies aren't just reskinned, but actually have fairly significant visual changes that I almost never see in RPGs), and all the in-game settings are just a joy to explore. It was just so easy to put a ton of time into this game because the visuals were constantly keeping me excited to play more.

    In terms of the core RPG mechanics (combat/leveling/shopping/etc), there's a nice level of freshness, but nothing super special - however, I think this game's strength's lie elsewhere. By presenting a very polished and not overly complex set of core RPG mechanics, this game allows its new and interesting ideas to have the perfect stage. The game constantly switches between real-time combat, questing, a kingdom building idle game, and an RTS style military battle system. Besides the fact that these are all individually really fun and quite polished (the military battles were my least favorite but were still pretty enjoyable), the game really succeeds in tying all of these different game styles together. While it's certainly possible to not spend much time on the kingdom building or military battles if you don't want to, the game really incentivizes you to put time into it by having rewards in each gameplay mode that directly impact the other modes. I'm probably overstating how good these mechanics are, but I was just really impressed by how polished it all was, and given how impressive the visuals were, all this game needed was some solid RPG gameplay and I think they went over and above that.

    The one major detraction was that the story was incredibly cheesy. There were some great characters (especially Roland!) but for the most part the characters were underdeveloped, peoples' motivations were either super transparent or were poorly substantiated, and there was just overall a lack of tact and subtlety. So much of the time, things just seemed to happen because the developers clearly wanted the story to go a certain way - there were a lot of conflicts that were either introduced or resolved in ways that were cheesy, unsubtle, or frankly even a bit confusing (Nerea in particular left me scratching my head). I did really like the main storyline, and especially the conflict between the cats and the mice, but most of the other storylines were pretty unsatisfying. This definitely wasn't enough to hugely detract from the game however.    … Expand

    25 hours in, I decided to stop here and write some reviews, because I won't progress any further in Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom.

    The first Ni No Kuni was one of my favorite games on PS3, also one of the best RPGs. It put you into a beautiful & believable world. The only ‘not-good-enough’ thing with that game is combat system. While in Ni No Kuni II, the combat was greatly    25 hours in, I decided to stop here and write some reviews, because I won't progress any further in Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom.

    The first Ni No Kuni was one of my favorite games on PS3, also one of the best RPGs. It put you into a beautiful & believable world. The only ‘not-good-enough’ thing with that game is combat system.

    While in Ni No Kuni II, the combat was greatly improved and overall well-received. It's a Action-RPG like, fast pace, hack n slash style gameplay. But the most important thing in a RPG, the story, and the way they tell a story, is lost.

    I can only guess that is because they changed the game director, and Studio Ghibli was out of Ni No Kuni II's production. Apparently they leaned too many resources to combat system and neglected the story and other details that make you believe it's a vivid world instead of just a make-believe open world.

    This reminds me of Dragon Age Inquisition, I was so excited for that one, because I am a big fan of DA:O. And turns out its combat was satisfying enough, and story sucks, just like Ni No Kuni II.

    So, overall, I recommend this game to those who doesn't really care about the story and all. If you are happy with good combat and beautiful cartoonic visuals, definitely try this game. But if you are a serious RPG fan, who value the story a lot, i suggest you avoid Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Instead, try the first one.    … Expand

    Leider ist die Story alles andere als berauschend. Die anderen Mechaniken sind aber hervorragend ineinander verzahnt. Man hat aber öfter den Eindruck das vieles vom Spiel (noch) fehlt. Es sind 2 Große gebiete die eigenheiten aufweisen aber keine Storyrelvanz haben, oder anders gesagt für die Story muss man nur 2/3 der Welt bereisen.

    Seemingly unimportant UI/UX decisions also add a clunkiness to the overall experience, including too small/fast/long dialogue boxes and unclear active vs. inactive button styling. No ability to change the difficulty setting also seems like an important oversight.

    Overall, Ni No Kuni 2 still gets many things right and is an enjoyable enough experience, but it was a step-down for the series.    … Expand

    I was heartbroken with disappointment when I found out that Ghibli was not behind this game. And boy, you could feel it. The story is painfully full of plot devices that will test your patience. Gameplay and art are beautifully done, but I came for the story and left in sadness. If you don't care about the story on a game, give it a try. If story is important for you, run away or buy it on sale.

    After going through and playing Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, I think it’s safe to say that it’s a pretty good game.It was fun, and it had a lot of aspects that were pretty wonderful like the game play, which was fast paced and engaging, and some aspects it fell a little flat in, like the writing of the characters. But overall, my review will encompace certain aspects of the game that tie into the overall enjoyment, like it’s genre and aesthetic, and I’ll talk about how some aspects just didn’t pay out well.

    Ni No Kuni II is about as much of a hack and slash Action JRPG, Japanese Role Playing Game, as it can be. The game play is very simplistic, but it does have some satisfying moments when you land a special strike or dodging a large enemy attack. Ni No Kuni also formats itself to a lot of JRPG tropes which is more team centric focus where you’re controlling a team of people towards one goal as opposed to a Western RPG that’s more player focused like Skyrim. Along with that, there is And if you’re interested in playing a hack and slash JRPG, Ni No Kuni would be right up your alley.

    Another that drew me into Ni No Kuni was how it looked and the fact that the first game has animated cutscenes made by Studio Ghibli, creator of such animated films like Spirited Away. This unexpected partnership between Level-5 Studios and Ghibli produced a visually stunning game Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Which then lead to a large audience wanting a new game and after years later, Level-5 Studios makes a new game with intentions to allow the players to explore the world of Ni No Kuni. And I have to say that Ni No Kuni packs a punch in terms of visuals, it really sells that feeling of being somewhere magical and mystical, like you’re in another world. But it does fall short, in comparison to the first because it lacks that 2D animation flair that made the first game so special. The different worlds that you go to also have their own flair, and although it doesn’t have special 2d cutscenes, I believe that it still is stunning.

    My main issue with the game stems from the writing. The narrative of the story follows a basic format, and it’s seems to add no struggle or conflict with the characters. There are no stakes when Evan, the main character does something. Evan is about as boring as white bread. He hardly changes throughout the story, and every conflict that he’s given is solved by being kind. He makes no hard decisions or gives the players hard decisions to make. The game, as explorative as it is, railroads the player into these situations. Because of this it’s difficult to engage the players into the game, which is a huge issue when the game is focused on Evan and the story.

    I believed that this issue could have been avoided if the game focused more on who they were creating it for. What I mean by that is that, there was a 7 year gap in between the first game and the second, and as that progressed the audience of the game grew up too. I think the game is very child like, and the marketing insisted that the story was more grown up and the world was more expansive for those who played the original and wanted to explore the world of Ni No Kuni. So a lot of people say that the game is too easy and story is really basic because it’s kind of made for kids when the community is comprised of adults and teens. As for kids who play this game, I think it’s good. It enforces that “be nice” mentality, and it teaches a lot of good morals.

    In summary, I believe that the game is good for people who enjoy Studio Ghibli films, and enjoy the sort of hack and slash combat system tied in with small kingdom building simulator. Along with the large world exploration and the different areas to go through, I also believe that Ni No Kuni has an amazing concept and a creative and well created world. But the main issues fall in the writing of the story and the balancing system. And if you want an aesthetically pleasing 3d cartoon style game, I would also recommend the game.     剧情和台词太过于幼稚和无聊, 唯一让我坚持玩下去就是因为画面, 战斗系统比较糟糕, 要么越级打Boss很容易就被秒, 养成方面也比较无聊, 而且任务物品有时候没有任何提示, 不查攻略根本找不到, 一直肝到底, 没有灵魂的新作, 有点失望

    Map und Content sind in Revenant Kingdom um einiges gewachsen. Das eher strategische Kampfsystem des ersten Teils wurden hingegen durch ein actionreicheres Echtzeit Kampfsystem ersetzt. Leider fällt so aber die motivierende Monsterzucht des Originals unter den Tisch, wie auch die vielen strategischen Elemente, die das äußerst komplexe Kampfsystem des Vorgängers ausgezeichnet hatten. Statt im Schlachtengetümmel vor allem den Überblick zu behalten und die richtigen Monster zur richtigen Zeit geschickt einzusetzen, spielt sich Revenant Kingdom eher wie ein Hack'n Slay und fordert dem Spieler so auch deutlich weniger strategisches Geschick ab.

    Statt Monstern zu fangen hat man nunmehr die Möglichkeit Bewohner für das eigenen Königreich anzuwerben. Ein Großteil der Subquests dreht sich so auch darum, möglichst viele NPCs zwecks Besiedelung der eigenen Stadt in kleinen Nebenmissionen für sich zu gewinnen. Auch abseits der Mainstory ist Ni No Kuni 2 so ein äußerst motivierendes Spiel geworden. Den einzigartigen Charme des Vorgängers erreicht es jedoch nicht. Hierzu fehlen einfach die viele kreativen Studio Ghibli Einflüsse, wie auch die tiefsinnige, phantastische Erzählung im Stile eines Michael Ende, die den ersten Teil so einzigartig gemacht hat.     I have very mixed feelings after 80 hours playing this game. From the one side, there are so many different mechanics, so many stuff to do.. and it's great. From the other side for some reason, it just doesn't work. Characters are too shallow, you just don't buy it. Side quests are super boring. And the grinding is here too... When I entered the final battle, I was like 55 level, and theI have very mixed feelings after 80 hours playing this game. From the one side, there are so many different mechanics, so many stuff to do.. and it's great. From the other side for some reason, it just doesn't work. Characters are too shallow, you just don't buy it. Side quests are super boring. And the grinding is here too... When I entered the final battle, I was like 55 level, and the boss was 72!     What's really positive is the kingdom building and the graphics. That's about it.

    I love JRPGs but this was a huge let down and disappointment. And I finished it with 100%.

    The game has some of the best graphics I've seen on PS4 but its beauty doesn't hide its painfully easy combat and boring story which I personally considered are the two most important things in a role playing game. .

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Update 4/16/18: I have finally completed this game and after doing so I have some issues with the glaringly obtuse portions of the game both in the plot and the story not to mention some of the silliest gameplay choices I have seen in quite awhile.

    Plot: The game is whimsical and child-like, but that didn't mean the plot also had to be insipid and obvious. Villians change sides on a whim with nearly no explanation other than "Durrr, I need to be good now."

    Story: Ni No Kuni 2 doesn't know what it is, what it was going to be, whose story it is, or where it's really going. Is it Evan's story? Is it Roland's story? What character in this group has any story to speak of outside their introduction to the game? Even Doloran and his impromptu reasons for doing anything (you literally find out his reasons at the very end of the game during the final battle). I had no clue until the very end why anything happened or what everything meant....if you can even call it that. There is near to no LORE to the world and very little connection to the prior game. This line of storytelling was a massive letdown for me and soured the entirety of the experience.

    Gameplay: Combat is a joke where the only difficulty lies in simply the abnormal amount of damage later enemies can dish out (one-shot deaths) and the arbitrary limit on items usable in combat. The enemies never get more challenging...just their damage output. That is just lazy.

    Extra point-Endgame after endgame: There is no endgame...there is a ridiculous partitioning of content that can be finished after you beat the final boss. A literal chunk of the game the devs hacked off from the main game that should not have been here. Final armors/weapons/finishing off evermore and the only place where you could obtain the tools necessary to fight the game's "SECRET BOSS" (10th dream door). Not to mention the absurd notion that all the crafting items you need to get those tools reside inside this one place...and they expect you to grind and grind and grind it until you are high enough level to take it on. This was the stupidest choice Level 5 made and really left me despising them for it. Hours upon hours of building my kingdom and you stick completing it after beating everything?

    Bad job folks, really bad job.

    I enjoyed NI NO KUNI: Wrath of the White Witch, though if you asked me why I really couldn't tell you. The only things I can remember about that game was the music, the art style, the pokemon-like combat: the whimsical feel of everything. In many aspects, the first game was ALL style and ZERO substance.

    Still, for me, that was just fine, and that's rare. Superficial components never carry a title for me--I need more than that in a game, but this series did it...kind of.

    So when I heard there was going to be a new title coming and the things that I superficially liked from the first game were more or less gone--I was wary. After spending a few hours with the game though, I was pleased.

    Let's get this right out of the way: NI NO KUNI 2 is simple...Way too simple. Combat might be the easiest I have ever come across yet. At level 3 I was able to take down world enemies 8-10 levels above me with ease. Even higher level enemies were simple by steering clear of them and fighting at range. Still, you can spam enemies in straight-up combat with little worry or use of the higgles or items (at least at the very early set of the game). I don't want "dark souls" but I also don't want "sesame street" and this game veers too close to sesame street.

    The graphics are wonderful. With full 4k and HDR enabled, the game is stunning. There are very few jagged animations and movement is fluid in "dungeons" and open world combat.

    The musical score takes its cues from the original title, with soaring and whimsical arrangements to suit the moment (mostly). There were a few moments when the music and location did not line up, but can easily be overlooked due to how wonderful it is.

    The story is cheesy and frankly, common fare for the genre. I would have liked more depth, but it doesn't derail too much from the overall package. Also, the splotchy use of voice acting is a down note. Sometimes there are spoken words, sometimes you get a perfunctory word like "Yes" or "Ah" but not much more, and sometimes you just get word bubbles. I would preferred consistency here. Either actual voice acting for the whole game or NO voice acting for the whole game. As it is right now, it feels disjointed at best or unfinished at worst.

    The biggest point for me with the time I've spent with the game so far is if I will continue and finish or just abandon it for something better (or go back to a game I've already started). I think for the time being I will continue until I beat it. It seems to be a good time but doesn't do anything revolutionary. I feel like I've played this game before and that's not a bad thing, but it could have been more.    … Expand

    Story is childish and boring. Character motivations make no sense. Combat is ok. World is beautiful. A pretty good variety of things to do in this game like war mini-game and base building. Very little amount of voice acting making what voice acting there is feel like a tease.

    Kingdom management is a nice distraction from the fetch quests. You assign your citizens around your kingdom to help you, whether it be collecting materials, making medicine, helping you learn magic...
    If you don't mind endless fetch quests broken up with a little kingdom management and some eye-roll moments at the enemies, I'd pick this game up on sale.    … Expand

Yes, the difficulty can be adjusted, but the problem is the game mechanic itself, the repetitiveness, and Story is too light, too boring. I think Nino 2 is only good for casual players or kids. El juego no tienen nada de chica, es todo el rato hacer perder el tiempo al jugador dando vueltas de un lado para otro, y volver buscando objetos. No existe sensación de progresión, te pasas el juego entero haciendo favores.

I'm currently just waiting for the gold in my capital to GENERATE itself, you heard right, i'm not actually doing anything, just watching netflix waiting for it to be done, just like Farmville. Good thing it has an easy platinum so I can trade it back to the shop when I'm finished with it. (edit: I'm down to my last trophy and let me just say this, after finishing everything so far I have 1300 balls and the trophy is to get 2000. Pirates join and seemingly forget they're supposed to be pirates. You get a ship so late it doesn't matter. Some spells are used for one or two quests, then pointless.

    Then there's skirmishes, which is this game's attempt to be a new version of Suikoden. Except that they're either way too easy or way too difficult. There's no middle ground. Additionally, some commands don't respond.

    Higgledies are largely pointless except for large bosses, and only then due to the fact that you can only carry a limited number of each item into battle - something that isn't told to you.

    The game lacks a useful purpose for all of the various team members. I mostly ran through the first half of the game with the same three characters, then switched two of them and ran through the second half with those three.

    Then come the artificial, glass walls blocking progress. You can't max your town or recruit everyone until after you've beaten the game. Why? Since there's no New Game Plus, there isn't a reason to keep playing.

    Speaking of which, the DLC weapons in the "Day One" edition has a bug where they won't show up until it's way too late. So that's another issue. Small issue, still an issue.

    Voice acting is piecemeal at best, instead of fully voice cutscenes ala World of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest Heroes.

Review's really overstate this fact to where it's ridiculous. There's no voice acting and it matters. I dont watch mute movies now do I?), the fighting is good, like any other game, so its par with a normal game there. half of the game you move across a mini-map where theres zero freedom so forget jumping a cross anything, walk around all of it to find out you cant. Enjoy. Then the music, it's well composed but so badly timed I had to mute it. It is NOT open world. After Persona 5 it's the most linear game I've played in my life. It has a silly opening tutorial and over explains everything. "You are now using the spell.", "You just used the spell", "The spell executed fine". Click X all the time. It's a strong 6, where most of its positive is because of the charm from Ghibli.

    Basically it's a very charming sub-par mobile game on a big screen TV. That's it. Makes me wanna give up playing games all together. But in general, a very mediocre game with a lot of charm that'd fit perfectly for a mobile phone.    … Expand

    A fun easy RPG with a Ghibli feel. I enjoyed the game play but also felt that the combat grew soon a bit to easy. Very rare I felt like i was put to the test. The story I felt though was the weakest. Its sweet but at the same time just left me with a whole lot of unanswered questions. Overall an enjoyable play but not so much for me who much more enjoys a well put together story in an rpg

    The puzzles are another despairing experience, not because they're hard, but because they are just so tedious. It's basically "go there and push that switch, cross the bridge, push another switch then double back" ad infinitum. I'd much rather have skipped these and saved time.

    The final bizarre experience I've had is that around chapter 6 I suddenly found myself being quite under-levelled, which is in contrast to many reviews saying the game is quite easy. Albeit I didn't struggle much, I did lose patience with how long levelling up took. I love RPGs but the monotony here made levelling up such a tedious grind.

    If you're desperate for a JRPG then maybe go for this, but there are so many better options out there now. Do not spend anything more than £10/20 on this game.    … Expand

Those two locations gave me that magical Ghibliesque feeling of another world that I was looking for when I picked this up. If you're looking for that magical Ghibli feeling and you're interested inI was really transported yesterday. I'm only about 8 hours in with lots more to do, but I felt compelled to chime in after visiting a magical forest and an amazingly animated city yesterday. Those two locations gave me that magical Ghibliesque feeling of another world that I was looking for when I picked this up. If you're looking for that magical Ghibli feeling and you're interested in the positives and not too put off by the negatives of what I describe below, you will enjoy this game.

    Thus far I can say the primary character and environmental animations are incredible, battling on hard mode is fun, equipment and character progression is intuitive and enjoyable, and the music and sound are wonderful. This game has everything necessary to be a perfect game, but three factors have already held it back in my relatively short time with the game. I would have been happy to give this game an 8.5 and flirted with giving it a 9 just for the true magical feeling that this game can give you, but I will reserve 9s for games that never give me a drop in my stomach that the following features gave me when I was playing this game.

    First, there are serious issues with the pacing early on. The presentation starts out being too kidsy. I was struck with the sense of dread that this game might just be too easy. The opening area animations are too basic and contrived to give one that sense of unique wonder. Thankfully, this feeling dropped away with a shift in setting, but in my opinion a matter of hours is too long a time to get things moving and to give a player a real feeling of wonder. Now that things are moving and the plot has been setup, I'm falling in love.

    Second, adding to the dread I initially felt about this game being too contrived and kidsy, the overworld chibi-style animation is absolutely terrible, and every moment I'm in it is a disappointment because it's a far cry from the beautiful animations in the rest of the game. This same chibi style is used in the skirmishes, a thus far small part of the gameplay, which are a real drag because the controls lack depth and you just steer your army into another army. I appreciate the world-building aspect of the skirmishes in light of Evan's story, but the bad chibi-style animation and the lack of depth to the gameplay bog down the positive impact this element should have on the feeling of a real world and its story.

    Ultimately, I love this game for what it offers outside of the overworld and the skirmishes. If the game had opened more elegantly and those features had been eliminated or improved, I would undoubtedly give this a 10. If you're looking for that Ghibli sense of wonder and you're okay with waiting 5 or 6 hours of play time to get it, get this game. I'm earnestly looking forward to many more hours with the game, and I will check back in if my impressions change.

    ** Checking back in: After writing the above review, I eventually grew tired of this game's simplistic battles and terrible overworld design. The game just stopped giving me new and beautiful locations to admire at a quick enough clip, and the story didn't make me care enough to keep doing more of the same. Por la sencilla razón de que es un juego muy repetitivo, es un Simulador de Recados, el 90% de las veces estarás intentando cumplir con alguna diligencia que un npc te haya pedido "Consígueme un listón rosa" "Derrota a tal monstruo" ¿eso es malo? no, porque es un ingrediente básico de los rpgs, lo malo es que una vez que crees que has cumplido la misión y entregas le entregas al npc el objeto que te pidió, por ejemplo, un listón rosa, cuando llegues y se lo entregues, el npc ahora te pedirá uno amarillo y cuando se lo entregues, luego te pedirá un listón azul, así de tedioso es el juego, haciendo recados una y otra vez duplicando o triplicando el tedio de esas misiones. Pero eso no es todo, el juego está aderezado con dos minijuegos tan aburridos y tediosos como las misiones: un simulador del reino de Evan y un minijuego de enfrentamiento de ejércitos (tipo Warcraft) ambos muy rudimentarios que están al nivel de esos juegos genéricos free to play que descargas para el teléfono, y que requieren una cantidad increíble de farmeo de recursos en el del reino y de experiencia en el minijuego de ejércitos y lo peor es que no puedes evitarlos, debes de jugarlos forzosamente en momentos puntuales porque de otra forma la historia principal no puede progresar, lo cual vuelve al juego doblemente tedioso de lo que ya era.
    Lo peor del caso, es que todo ese tedio es acentuado a través de la historia pues los personajes son muy planos, carentes de carisma y nunca se desarrollan a lo largo del juego y lo peor es que hay capítulos en los que haces prácticamente lo mismo, visitar a un reino, tratar de convencer al rey malvado de ese reino para que se convierta en bueno, a este último el villano mayor lo despoja de su deidad protectora la cual corrompe por lo que la enfrentas la derrotas, el rey se vuelve bueno, final feliz por lo que ahora toca ir al siguiente reino a repetir la tarea.
    La música es horrorosa, repetitiva y fuera de lugar y muy olvidable, las melodías en algunas partes de vuelven muy fastidiosas como en la fábrica de Velintonia y en cuanto a la jugabilidad en los combates pues puedo decir que no es mala, los controles responden bien sin embargo tiene demasiados ingredientes, cambios de arma en medio del combate, hechizos, ecualizador, fofis para que al final el juego sea la mayor parte del tiempo muy fácil y por lo tanto muchas mecánicas su vuelvan innecesarias para los jugadores (terminé el juego en modo difícil).
    El único capítulo donde se revela historia interesante, donde ocurren giros argumentales decentes es el último capítulo, el 9 ¿Pero vale la pena sufrir por 8 capítulos tediosos y aproximadamente 40 horas para disfrutas 5 horas buenas? la verdad es no.    … Expand

    This time around they make the jump feature "a bit" useful than before where jump button is a complete trash as it didn't serve any purpose or anything in the game.

    Enemy or monsters type is a complete downgrade, there are too few of them which you will meet all of them whenever you go in the world of Ni No Kuni 2.

    Input buttons is way too confusing. Even after spending around 50 hours in the game I still miss-press the button which I intended to like why you back to traditional buttons input? And there's no setting to adjust or change that.

    Once again, they are trying to create a way of customization for player in the game but for me it still just way too much. Tactic tweaker, armory which consist of 3 weapons, armor, boots, necklace, etc.

    One thing that they do right in my opinion is the addition of "Kingdom" which you manage your own Kingdom and its fun but later when you reach level 3, the coins is moving up very slow which I abandon it at the last minute.

    Conclusion: Great game but they change and broke too many great things from the 1st Ni No Kuni. Drop the game after 67 hours (Chapter 8) due to leveling is not really smooth so I often encounter enemy that 5-7 levels above me where I can say that I'm the type of grinding player when playing RPG    … Expand

The problem is that because the game is so easy there is no point in using the robust battle mechanics the game actually offer. There are lots of cool skills to use, familiars to care about that have cool effects, but none of them matter as you can just button mash through most of the game.

    I can't stress this enough. For a JRPG that is mostly built around you fighting monsters, getting better gear and stuff, it's infuriating how little challenge the game actually throws at you. What's even worse is that the fun Kingdom building system gives you lots of cool ways to acquire better gear, but then again, that feature is totally useless because of how easy the game is.

    Most of the other stuff in the game are great. Music is fantastic and so is the graphics, story and it's characters. But the combat falters so much that i have a hard time recommending the game. Luckily for us PC users there are scripts out there to give the enemies more HP and deal more damage so you actually have to dodge, block and use your abilities to be able to deal damage, but i have to judge the game based on what comes from the developer, and combat wise it really sucks. In a sense at least. If you actually use it it’s really fun, but there is no point in doing so because you just kill everything faster and easier just by mashing the attack button.

    This just shows that they have gone for quantity over quality in this game. You have lots of underdeveloped features that aren't balanced to one another and it just feels very bland. Army battles are randomly thrown in that sounds fun on paper but like most other things the game offers it falls flat. It's obvious there was some kind of plan there from the start. Build a kingdom, quests to collect citizens, army battles out on the battlefield, etc. But it all just ends up with lots of features that are very thin and don't get to fully shine.

    With that said i can't have been more disappointed in this game. It sucks seeing the potential here and how the game didn't reach any of it.    … Expand

    The biggest disappointment of 2018. After the magical Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch I had high expectations for the sequel, but I got a boring game, with a boring story, with shallow characters, and a simple gameplay with difficulty for 5 years old kids :/

Level-5 is better than this game, and it saddens me to see them release a game like this that is so far below their standard of quality, especially since it doesn't feel like it's their fault. The music is irritating to say the least, and when you disable it it appears that there's not much left - besides the dialogs the game seems muted. This is the first time in ma gaming carrer that I've felt that the game is destroyed because of sound only.

    Very boring and repetitive gameplay. With a world so big who would think there are only lik 6 type of monsters, just with another type of color ? Very easy to that point gear does not matter, spaming one button in combat is dull. Skirmishes are also not worth playing to that point if you wanna collect all trophies you gonna waste 10 hours just to find them. Overall game feels unfinished.

    I find myself on the precipice of what feels like the final chapter and can't shake that nagging feeling. The feeling is that this game was too quick. Surely a game with so many side quests and complex (enough) kingdom building system would have several hours of time left so that I can actually utilize the boosts and improvements provided, right? I mean, I did invest countless hours in gathering/poaching citizens, from other kingdoms, researching spells, and the ability to build better gear (which I still haven't needed to take advantage of).

    So... Why does it seem like some joke is being played on me?

    I am one of those folks who played the first game. And while yes, it had it's faults (inconsistent plot pacing, grinding requirements, and a terribly heavy menu system for supporting your... "pokemon"), but in the end it at least held my interest. More-so it compelled me to continue. It's cut-scenes and voice acting were incredibly robust. Certainly it still took some shortcuts, but this new story is so childish it's a wonder there wasn't a Little Golden Book that came along with the game.

    As for things I've appreciated, I did mostly like the more straight forward battle system, when compared to the constant shuffle that existed in the first game. Even if it did err on the side of "make sure your stick has higher numbers and just keep hitting the bad guys. Oh look a higher numbered stick!" Some tactics would have been appreciated. Also, the Higgledee's are really one of the best things in a game, like ever... Cute + Powerful + Support equals a win in my book.

    I'd made peace long before playing the game that this wasn't going to be exactly the same world as the previous entry, and even adjusted to the less colorful visuals... But in the end, this world feels less populated, less functional, and less immersive than the previous title. 2 towns, an old woman's cottage, 5 kingdoms/cities make up the whole world, and a billion caves. And if I ignore the non-mandatory quests... I only ever have to visit them once or twice. I'm really tempted to replay the game and see how much more difficult it is with only doing the main story.

    In the end, I'm left wondering...
    Why some reference to the first game at the beginning (the trial), and then abandon it from there on? I mean... Where are the faeries!?!
    Why is Ding Dong Dell the only city that spans the two titles...? Are they hoping to pull a Cid-style thing from the FF series, where in each title there's a Ding Dong Dell?
    Where's Evan's mom in all of this? She's mentioned briefly at the start of the game, then forgotten like cheap hummus.
    And why are there only 10 creatures that you have to fight over and over in the game? Sure they're reskinned, renamed, but it's the same creature with basically the same skill set.
    And finally, am I the only one who never purchased gear/food/items from any of the shops... ever?    … Expand

    I'll list my positives right off the bat, because there's less of that than negatives. The graphics and music are top notch, done. Now, this game heavily relies on its Facebook-tier mechanic known as Kingdom Building. I was hoping that this **** mode would not get in the way of story progression but BOY OH BOY WAS I WRONG. Right when you get to Chapter 9 they force you to level up your Kingdom to stage 3, sounds simple, right? Except it's extremely tedious. You have to get 50 Villagers in total, now how do you do that? You do side quests, a **** ton of them. They vary from fetch quests to fighting monsters. This was annoying and it took me up to 10-15 hours to get the amount of villagers needed to progress. So I get to the final boss right? A nice plot twist happened right before it, a call back to the original game, I was impressed. But soon after I was put in the battle against the final boss, after all the boss rushes which were manageable despite me being very under-leveled, which is another Issue I will tackle in a moment. I did a total of 14 damage to the final boss, there was a 20 level difference between us. I tried killing him and got his Hp down to about 1/10 after about an hour of fighting, and then he gained another HP Bar and killed off my entire party, I gave up because I thought it wasn't worth it, so I looked up the ending on YouTube and as expected it was predictable, but satisfying; although I don't think it would've been worth the grind. So, back to the level Issue, I was under-leveled ever since Chapter 5, although I didn't mind as much back then because I blamed myself for not doing any side stuff. But after doing the amount of side quests they seemingly expect you to do, I was still under-leveled and look what happened versus the final boss. Therefore, I think the pacing of the game is utter **** I usually enjoy grinding in JRPGs but the enemys give you a ridiculously low amount of EXP, even with the booster turned on. There's another mode called Skirmish, i'm just gonna say it's not as irritating as the kingdom building but still un-fun. Now for the Story, it's alright I guess, definitely a step down from the first game and very predictable. Chapter 1 starts off promising but then it turns into a routine until chapter 7. The cast goes to a kingdom, an Issue occurs, you solve it and then fight the king of said kingdom. Nothing more, nothing less. The best character in the whole game was without a doubt, Roland. Everyone else seemed shallow and un-interesting and were cast to the side after their debut.
    I think my review is very subjective, I think someone that enjoys side content and loves pouring hundreds of hours into a game would enjoy this game thoroughly.    … Expand

De resto não tem nada nada a ver, me deu a impressão que fizeram o jogo depois o encaixaram no universo de NI NO KUNI.
    - O final também é bem ruinzinho, não chega a ser decepcionante porque a história do jogo já não é boa. Até os créditos são inferiores ao wrath of the white witch.

    Beyond the pretty graphics and legitimately good music lies a shell of a game with uninspiring cliche story, shallow characters and boring gameplay (yes even for jrpg). This would be a perfect game for a 6 year old kids, but pass on it if you like original stories with deep and complex character development - it simply does not exist here.

    It's an overrated game. The art style is cute but that is all here. But it doesn't help a weak gameplay and story. Basic game design. A mix of underdeveloped/boring action, puzzle and strategy games in one. I am 10 hours in but I see no point to continue.

The game also puts music that don't combine with the environment. You're in a canyon and the soundtrack makes you look you're in a Hitchcock movie. Characters are flat, stupid, boring and voice acting just makes it worse.

    This game is too easy. Even on hard difficulty you can easily defeat monsters that are higher level than you by randomly pushing buttons.
    Most of the story is being told in subtitles, as there is very little voice acting in the game. Either way, the story and characters are cringy.
    The cel-shaded graphics look great, but the overworld has a different art style and looks pretty bad.

    Had to force myself to finish this game. Compared to the first one, which felt like a classic old school japanese RPG with a lot of charm and modern upgrades, this one just feels like a huge cash grab without any care for the gameplay or the story.

    Countless uninspired moments, obnoxious side quests, bad and boring gameplay that is too easy even on the highest difficulty, and you can see that the hack and slash aspect was badly thought out when enemies have no tells to their attacks and you're always swarmed.

    Awful game, very disappointing after the first one, was already fed up by the time I got to the base building part, which is probably the most fun but also the most waiting around you do.    … Expand

    I have never used so much Google to complete simple quests. It's annoying how you need items in quests that have small chance of appearing and its also unclear where you can acquire such needed things. The storyline is mostly boring with boring characters and the combat is repetitive.

    I guess this is only for jrpg lovers, just as with nearly all jRPGs.. Looks beautiful as ads with all those anime cutscenes videos, but everything changes once you reveal the actual gameplay - which is very boring and repetitive, with cheap mechanics. Mostly remind some kind of low budget online rpg from 15-18 years ago.

    The game looks great but that’s about the only positive, it’s the ultimate fan boy trash, from a dialogue written for 5 year olds to the most typical generic quests. Just your average over hyped open world rpg. With the most boring, unimaginative main characters in gaming history, make this, 2018’s biggest piece of overrated trash.

At first, I found the 3D world map models really weird, but after a while you get used to it and kind of enjoy it. TheNi No Kuni is overall a very good JRPG. The soundtrack isn't quite as delightful and memorable as the first, but it has its moments.

    Trading out hundreds of collectible familiars, ala Pokemon, with familiars that act as support only works really well for the way this game was developed. One of the things that got really nerve-racking about the first iteration was just how many different familiars there were, and how you ultimately had to collect two of every base familiar if you wanted to pop the proper trophy and do a full completion. The battle mechanics overall are very nice, easy to grasp, and it's nice that in dungeons it's full action-RPG without having to always go into separate battle segments.

    I dig the simplicity of the story. JRPGs in the 90s have long had a horrible track record of getting more and more convoluted, and this series has done pretty well to stay away from that - though it has its moments of adding in bits that don't heighten the story all that much. No major twists, but when they happen they usually sort themselves out pretty quickly. But it's the story of a boy who fell victim to a coup de'tat, and now he has to build a new kingdom up from the ground and seek out new alliances. It doesn't get overlaid with major "ultimate evil" stuff until the end game, and it's otherwise very subtle throughout. It's a breath of fresh air in this genre.

    The kingdom building reminds me slightly of games like Dark Cloud 2, and the wide cast of recruitable citizens, as well as the army skirmishes, were both reminiscent of Suikoden - both of these things made the experience of Ni No Kuni 2 that much more awesome, it was a real throwback and now I want to go back and replay both of those titles.

    So all of that said, here's the bad:

    There's way too much for completionists to do. There are SO MANY fetch quests. If you're wanting to just focus on the main story, and do a few extra fun things, this game is probably about 20-30 hours of playtime. But if you're going full completionists, you're talking 80+ hours, and that's before you consider jumping into DLC. The kingdom building has almost way too much going on and it takes way too long to expand, build-up funds, etc, and a lot of the citizens were hard to find. There were a lot of quests, familiars, and other things that required ultra-rare items that you can only get on the last 10 floors of the last Dreamer Maze, and take way too long to get. The wild goose chases get so tedious sometimes.

    Speaking of which, there's a quest in this game where you have to find "smelly shoes". This was one of the first/few things I sourced the internet to figure out where the hell, because I hadn't found any smelly shoes, and it required hours of grinding to eventually get them. I shouldn't have to spend hours just to complete one quest because the devs didn't think to make an easier workaround and just list them for sale in a single item shop in a single town. There are way too many iterations of things like this in this game.

    There's not a lot of grinding to be had in this game, and honestly, I was always ahead of the curve when I'd enter new dungeons - until you get to the end game. The last Dreamer Maze had me facing enemies at level 90 and higher, and the additional endgame tainted monsters were ridiculously hard. The difficulty really ramps up on those 10 battles, and the only way you're going to beat them is if you finally spend way too much time grinding away for days. The level 150 cap is also not necessary, it's way too high.

    One of the non-completionist gripes I have is the lack of voice acting. They really skimped on this here. A game like this, on a system like PS4 and PC that can hold tons of data, should have almost all voice acting when it plays to the main story. So many situations where important dialogue would be going on via text, and then suddenly it switched to voice acting. Also, there's a certain charm to the writing of the first game that's just not captured in this one. Try as they might, Lofty was no replacement for Drippy, but you might find him in just the same loving company if they had more voice acting.

    Also, the rich, beautiful Studio Ghibli cutscenes being gone is just such a shame. But it is what it is.

    I definitely recommend JRPG fans, especially fans of the first game, to give this a go if they haven't already. But if you're a completionist, godspeed.    … Expand

    The gameplay is fine but the difficult is really **** up. It is either extremely easy or frustratedly hard. No middle ground in between. For instance, there is a skirmish mission where you control an army to defeat enemy's army. The mission is called "Criminal Capture: Bandit Gang" and I stuck at this ****er for an hour. It required you to kill enemy boss. The problem is, the enemy boss ran towards the exit like a mad man. You have to sprint to catch him but your stamina is limited. No to mention there are dozens of enemy in the road trying to stop you. If you made a bad decision to buy and play this stupid game, good luck on this mission because you have to beat it to get a trophy.    … Expand

    Ni No Kuni II is truly a tale, deliberately naïve and full of colorful characters. The combination of different genres, JRPG, management and RTS, works well, as each style is interwoven with the others.
