    EA ruins another game with a loot box progression system.
    You are forced to either grind out old missions over and over again, or fork over real cash in order to progress.

    Its not the worst entry, however its obvious that the game was built to please the publisher and satisfy their vision of the series instead of the players. When you first see the open world it appears to be filled with a lot of activities to do. However, the deceptive nature of this becomes apparent as you progress. The free roaming areas lack random diversion like police roaming around to avoid or a running into a random pack of cars to take out.

    In the end, the remaining side activities like challenge races while a little enjoyable are not sufficient to keep you coming back. Having to go through unfun bits in hopes for some fun is simply not acceptable.

    Also, a lot of the cool customization options which used be given as rewards can now simply be purchased by anyone through microtransactions which makes you feel less like you're unique or skilled and that's also not a good thing.    … Expand

    Another lootboxes title which gives you 2 choices: grind grind grind or pay for lootboxes with real money. Don't buy this. Don't support this kind of business practices.

    EA can f*** off. Every game from this moment forward will be filled with lootboxes and microtransaction. All of their game from here on out will be specially crafted and engineered to fool you into paying even more for their crappy games. No thanks, an EA game hasn't touched my PS4 and it never will.

    The cool stuff, like the fast & furious kind of relics, are done by cinematics, not you.
    Micro-transitions.
    No police in the free world, and escaping the cops no longer have the "deal with it" vibe.
    Slot machine is just non-sense.
    Don't waste your money.

    This a game had so much potential but in the end it’s dissapointing because it removed a key feature that defines the Need for Speed series, and that is free roaming cops. Instead they replace it with a bait crate system where you have to evade the cops through checkpoints (like a time trial) and you’re not given the freedom to evade the cops from any direction you please. Not only does this make cop chases not fun to play but it also hinders replay ability as you become bored after you finish the campaign (its like removing cops from GTA...yeah). They also removed online free roam, which begs the question as to why create an open world if the game is so linear?

    The good things about the game are the customization and the world they built. There is a bit of a grind but it’s managable and the story while cliche has good voice acting so it’s passable. The Handling is improved but drifting has become even easier and is the preferred choice over grip as it provides a slight speed advantage. Some minor annoyances are that the off-road section needs a bit more focus and that some cars can’t reach the max level so you are forced to use a car you don’t neseserily like in order to have a chance to compete.

    Overall this game could have had a higher score but it’s missing the main feature that differentiates the need for speed series to other games like forza horizon, the crew etc, and that is free roaming cops. At the moment it feels like a it’s trying copy those games and overall it feels incomplete.I just hope they add free roam cops and online multiplayer in a future update or this game will die early due to its lack of replayability.    … Expand

For this you do not want to pay, just a disgusting plot, a cliche on a cliche, a very boring world, fairly flat cars, problems with light are clearly taking place. Frostbite can not be adjusted to racing. Cars behave on the road just awful. I do not know who these people are that put the game 10 points. Maybe it's just those who devour any product .... If this game was not in the title of the legendary NFS, she would not have surrendered to anyone. The series has slipped, the worse it just can not be games.

    A full priced game with Free-to-play lootbox elements? Are you kidding me??? Watch my word... This studio will we the next that will be closed by EA. I must admit, NFS 2015 was a OK game. It has it's flaws but it had soul in it. This game has NONE of that magic. Combined with the crazy card/lootbox system, this is the race failgame of the year for me.

    while at its core the Driving is a Slight Improvement over previous Enrerys in the Series its Bogged down under so much Unnecessary Crap that it's VERY VERY hard to actually Enjoy the racing for what it is. a BS Broken Progression system designed to create an emphasis on Selling Loot Creates. A Complete Lack of Replayability Hamers EA's Need for you to Spend more money home even further. The Removal of by many accounts the best aspect of Modern NFS Games Actual Cop Chases.... Not These On Rails Go where we tell you to Go or you fail the "Race" Nonsense, An open world filled with nothing but Busywork with all of the Fun Striped out for a reason ill never understand.

    This game had loads of potential But. ya........ EA screwed this game Hard..... in the Hopes that it in turn will force us (the Players) to Spend as much money as physically Posible.

    What Really Hurts me is that EA will take this as NFS cant sell copies.... that its the NFS brand that is at fault..... God Forbid you made a game Players and Fans NEVER wanted.... If you wanted to make a Fast and Furious Inspired game it should have been the First movie in that franchise where the emphasis was still on street racing..... Remember EA.... that thing your games have Always been about.

    I Prey there will be more NFS Games.... I Hope they will focus more on the Driving and less on well Everything Else....

    For the Love of Got People..... Can we Just Get a Streetraceing Game.... It Doesn't need an "Involved" Story I just want to Race in a game with a proper Progression system where if I find a Car I like I never need to get rid of it to be competitive.

    Overall This Version of NFS has alright Racing at its core.... But sadly you spend so little time actually Driving that it's very easy to Forget how good NFS driving could have been if EA focused on that Instead of the Mountains of Garbage they chose to through on Top of This Poor Game.

    This game could have been great. All they had to do was build upon the strong base they had in Need for Speed (2015), however, for all of the positives of that game they've essentially wiped them away and changed it. This game is driven towards making you mindlessly grind for upgrade parts or spend real money (on top of the $60+ you've already spent) in order to keep your car competitive.

    The game performs poorly, it has framerate drops and crashed twice, but the worst part is that they put loot boxes on a racing game and did the same stupid thing shadow of war did, pay or grind.
    Save yourselfs $60 and buy anything else

    I was amped up for this until I watched some of the footage with the stupid characters like the chick with the stupid hair and the diabolical retarded dialogue coming out of their stupid faces. So my money is staying in my pocket. Still waiting for a decent car modding game on PS4. Anything EA touches turns to crap.

    Microstransactions. I don't want common and rare turbo and transmission cards! I mean WTF? Graphics are absolutely laughable. When the game starts the models look N64 era. For real. Then after about 1 min the they start to improve. Barely. So sick of unfinished games created around microstransactions.

If we want offroad we have other choices like wrc, flatout etc ! The story is very poorly made, races also ! If you enter into a drag tournament or whatever then you expect to play drag races, not forced to play sprint races with a car optimized for drag races... PATHETIC. Some races are incredible hard and the boses are childplay, again not very smart devs, director ! I hope these devs will never create another nfs game ! I will never pay more than 10€ on a game made by ea ! I gave 1 point for graphics !… Expand

    Putting this into games seems to have become a new type of cancer that affects the games, no longer do you just have to buy the game in half many times and then have to buy the remainder parceled in DLCs

    Need for Speed - Payback should be more honestly named EAs Stockholders Need for Cash - Paycheck. Just like Battlefront 2 you either have to really grind to make any progress, or pay to win. The whole thing is designed as online gambling and should not be encouraged by spending your money on it.

    Why they only want money? The free roam just sucks, can't even play with your friends, controls just sucks and horrible characters. I only liked the customization system and the car list, I think this is the worst NFS entry on the series

    This game is ruined by loot boxes gambling, which is kind of ironical since it is set up in Las Vegas.
    It's set up so you have to pay at some point as the grinding to get cars and part is intentionally way too long.

But the loot boxes and the whole concept behind player progression is extremely strange and most of the time frustrating - there is no way you can bring a car you started with (or if you like an entry level car) because there are restrictions that prevent you from upgrading past a certain point.     Progressing thru the game doesn't unlock better parts. It gives you random "speed cards." You can use these cards to only upgrade the car that you were driving at the time. you can't use them for any other car. This means, you have to grind every car you own from stock to top tier individually. You have to play the same couple of tracks over and over and over. You can go to an upgrade shop but you can't buy top tier cards although you unlocked them already for another car. You can use a slot machine to randomly give you a better card but this takes card tokens. They are not infinite.

    Can't people see what they are trying to do here? They created this grind wall to try to make you spend money to get past it!

    Why some reviewers are defending this **** is beyond me. There isn't any deep customization. Few bumpers and wing mirrors. Couple spoilers, side skirts and exhaust tips, you get the point. One "super build" option that is just like those full body kits in underground series and in most wanted. It is so obvious that no effort what so ever was put in to this.

    If the game would have that deep customization that we were promised once again and it didn't have an idiotic rubber band ai which everybody hates and if it had sh't ton of actual upgrade parts that you unlock thru progression and if it had free roam cops.. this would be a good nfs title. There isn't even local multiplayer option? In a racing game!?

    I'm completely disappointed in progression system. Once i got first challenges with racing gangs I was pushed to replay older missions to get some money to get at least necessary upgrades. Or, of course, there was another way: to pay real money in the fullpriced game to get... money in the game. That is freakingly bad and I will try to refund the game.

Customization is fine but Upgrading feels Lazy no longer can you go to your garage and tune your vehicle and test to see how well it runs (something we haven't seen since Underground 2) they pull the worst version of Most Wanted (2012) by random cards that you have to pick one after finishing an event that makes progression fustrating at least Most Wanted (2012) you can get an upgrade by doing a certain event for the car so you can choose what to race for your upgrade here its random and lazy oh you want to get it faster pay us $50.00 mulas. My car in real life passed it's MOT a few weeks ago at the local garage and had a few things in it that needed repairing and changing, all good to go. As you imagine, the mechanic did not upgrade it using cards aquired from legalised gambling.     This game is total **** Bad programming, no sensation, bugs (the drag races with the speedmeter which disappears, so it's impossible to push the button at the right time, the signs of the road which disappears too...) This game has been made with piss and a total lack of talents.... it's a shame

    Now personally i do not see the point of playing video games if they are not fun, also if a game leaves a nasty taste in my mouth from not only the outrageous up front cost but from the sheer gaul of a publisher to ask for further money when i get the game home. Then number one i will not buy from that publisher again and number two i will encourage all my fellow gamers to boycott said publisher.

    Around 8 to 10 years ago DLC became a reality and a lot of stink was raised about them, at the time we joked about things like this "soon we will be paying for outfits and guns and even level progression ha ha" well here we are in 2017 and those things are essentially a reality. People bought dlc no matter how absurd it was, this has given publishers the green light to how shall i say this "rip you off" with micro transactions.

    EA last year made 630 million dollars from FUT within fifa, now im sorry but that is a hell of a lot of people and some kids essentially gambling, so when i see public reviewers stating games like nfs payback are great and ignore the naysayers i cry foul and suspect they are either extremely rich and/or Electronic arts employees.

    This lootbox microtransaction scenario has to stop otherwise all our future games will be similarly ruined and i fear the gaming industry as a whole with it.

    Only good parts are customization. But you can not really enjoy it because.... and here we go, main problem of this is EA.
    Lootboxes are deeply integrated into mechanics. At some point you start to feel like you need better upgrade to finish this race but you can not just buy a new upgrade, you need to play lootcrates gambiling to hope that you will get needed gear. And it feels like free to play mobile game. This is by far the biggest rip off that I had with games.

    Unfortunately for me, I did not listen other reviews and bought this game. And now I feel like EA stole my money.

I feel like they hired some 8 to 10 year olds and said "do your best! As long as you try REAL hard that'll be good enough!" It is the most painful, unrealistic, **** I've ever seen in a game. That's not even my main problem though, I'm playing mine on a regular Xbox One and it looks and runs awful. I don't know if it's just my copy of the game, or my console, or what. But there are major issues with it. The load times are insanely long, AI civilian drivers just sit there and are stuck to the road (and you can drive through them?) about 50% of the time, the textures don't load for a good minute and a half if not more, leaving everything looking just awful. There are times where checkpoints don't load properly as well and I've had to completely exit the game and restart it to fix it. I liked the fact that you can customize more on your cars like you used to be able to, but that for me was the ONLY redeeming quality. I can barely give it that because of how much of a pain it is to unlock any customization. Need For Speed 2015 was absolute garbage, and this game is no better. It's safe to say that I will never buy another Need For Speed game. I loved them when I was a kid. Most Wanted and Underground 1 and 2 were amazing. It's sad that developers have no ****ing idea what they're doing anymore.. Games this bad make me want to stop playing video games entirely. In no way, shape, or form could I ever recommend this to anyone.… Expand

All of the user reviews that gave this game 9 and 10 are probably some company that EA hired out of India to give fake positive reviews from some unclean computer farm for a small fee. Almost every single person that gave this game a 10 has only 1 review for a game on metacritic....and that's NFS Payback.

    EA never ceases to amaze. After this and Battlefront 2s epic failure, I can easily see EA as the top hated company in the world once again after this miserable excuse of a racing game.    … Expand

No se puede disfrutar mucho ya que se tiene que repetir lo mismo hasta el cansancio para acumular puntos para poder avanzar, aunque sea la desarrolladora hubiera puesto más carreras distintas para compensar, pero no, debes pagar. No se puede disfrutar mucho ya que se tiene que repetir lo mismo hasta el cansancio para acumular puntos para poder avanzar, aunque sea la desarrolladora hubiera puesto más carreras distintas para compensar, pero no, debes pagar. La EA busca que su mercado sea ya no el de vender juego, sino la de micropagos que posteriormente debes pagar después de comprar el juego. O sea que al final pagas mucho más en total de lo que esperabas.

    This game is just a very **** and boring version of Forza Horizon. All NFS games after Carbon have been trash and any game working with EA should not be purchased.

Про лутбоксы вообще молчу - проходить одни и те же гонки по 3 раза чтобы накопить на достаточный апгрейд машины это сильно! По трейлерам - блокбастер, на деле - полнейшее разочарование.     Die Steuerung ist von NFS 2015 übernommen und etwas verbessert. Vorallem beim Drifen ist sie aber immer noch total mies und langweilig. Autos lassen sich sehr einfach steuern, denn diese versuchen aktiv, euch auf der Strecke zu halten.     Oft erwischt man aber Chaoten, die nur auf Rammen aus sind. Das macht kein Spaß.

    Tuning ist dafür wieder besser geworden. Endlich kann man Fahrzeuge besser anpassen.
    Vorallem der Leistungsbereich ist aber komplett unübersichtlich gestaltet worden.

    Wer das Spiel mal ansehen möchte, schaut einfach auf meiner HP vorbei. Dort hab ich neben Videos auch noch mehr Bilder und Text hinterlassen :)

    Another ruined NFS game. You want to race but you are forced to watch a story most of the time and drive through map just to get to a race ... extremely boring. I was buying a racing game not a (bad) movie.

    Ein Beispiel: Hab mir einen Mustang zu einem Dragracer mit einem Level von 200 getunt und musste dann bei den Dragracer ein Sprintrennen durch die Stadt fahren. Bereits verbaute Tuningkarten kann man nicht in andere Fahrzeuge einbauen.

This game p**ssed me off on so many levels, starting with the damn rocks and poles on the side of the roads, cars and bad handling.
    A bad mix that just makes me want to give this game a ZERO.

    At this point any EA game is going to be shady with MT and lootboxes and broken progression in order to get you to spend more money.. EA is a cancer that really needs excising from the gaming industry asap. ALSO WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE EA SHILLS UP IN HERE??? DOES IT FEEL GOOD TO BE PAID TO LIE??

It was abit grindy sometimes where I had to repeat a race like 20 times to actually win ( Was one or two rally races I found pretty hard), and my car level was just about correct. And yes I played only on hard, even though thoughts did come after repeating a race alot of changing to medium, but I managed to hanlde that pressure and didnt change to medium lol II enjoyed single player. Im upset that there are only like 5-6 story type missions, where in between them there are the same races, but that isnt necessarily bad either tbh, but they could have made it longer. I play on high settings and I didn ejoy the graphics, they are medium yes but they arent bad either, Id say they are good enough for 2017. The cars, the tuning the design I really enjoyed.. and I really hope they will add more cars soon. And they lost some rating from me for adding stupid card system for tuning your car, it was alot better even in NFS 2015.
    So either way il give the single player mode a 7/10 rating.

    The multiplayer mode, oh my god, I generally never thought that Need for Speed multiplayer racing could be so horrible, the lags when somebody is right behind you, and flips you out off the road, even though on your screen he didnt even touch you, the ridiculous balancing system, and the fact that there are only two types of races and no FREE ROAM.
    Regarding the free roam topic, first of all on the official site there was information, before release, that you will be able to free roam with your friends. Then they just edited it out right before release... Like what does that make them? Is that not fraud? If thats not fraud I dont what else is to be honest. Because to be honest that was one of my main reasons of purchasing the game, and thank god that I didnt buy the deluxe version.

    My rating for the need for speed multiplayer experience is 2/10. and 2 for the fact that it even exists....
    The customer support on EA is absolutly horribe, they have huge topics of people commenting the past week, and they dont even react, they cant even answer any questions, will there be the promised freeroam or not, I would understand if they told us " yes guys, it will be in a months time" Or somethoing, or even " No it wont be, we had problems" at least then I wouldnt have to waste my time waiting for it!!!!!

    Ok story mode.
    Terrible multiplayer.
    Terrible customer support.

    Well, this game is pure garbage.
    driving is not fun at all
    physics are non existent
    upgrade cards are total rip off and excuse to grind or buy.
    I'm very disappointed in this installment of the game as long fan.
