    I replayed this game after some years and the story is pretty good. The graphics are not the best, but the story makes you hooked.

    Pues estamos ante un juego interesante, pero con bastantes carencias para llegar a un nivel superior. Se trata de una aventura gráfica lineal y cinemática, sobre un asesino en serie al que debemos investigar desde el otro barrio, ya que nuestro personaje también ha sido víctima de sus crímenes. Para ello contaremos con nuestros poderes fantasmales y la ayuda desde el mundo de los vivos dePues estamos ante un juego interesante, pero con bastantes carencias para llegar a un nivel superior. Se trata de una aventura gráfica lineal y cinemática, sobre un asesino en serie al que debemos investigar desde el otro barrio, ya que nuestro personaje también ha sido víctima de sus crímenes. Para ello contaremos con nuestros poderes fantasmales y la ayuda desde el mundo de los vivos de una adolescente que probablemente es la próxima víctima, a la que por supuesto tendremos que proteger.

    En cuanto a mecánicas se trata de una aventura gráfica donde deberemos explorar para conseguir el mayor número de pistas posibles para poder deducir la historia de las escenas de los crímenes. Una vez recolectadas tendremos que relacionarlas correctamente para obtener la solución. También hay fases de sigilo donde una especie de demonios nos cortaran el paso. Normalmente estas fases suelen ser intermedias, bien hasta llegar a la zona del crimen o bien para huir de ella. El combate es extremadamente sencillo y una vez que lo pilles será francamente difícil que te maten.

    La duración del título es uno de los aspectos más criticados. A mi me parece que está bien, es lo que tiene que durar un juego lineal de estas características. Más duración es caer en la repetición y en el tedio. Como conclusión, ¿Es recomendable? Pues… bueno, si lo encuentras barato y tienes curiosidad, porqué no. La historia es buena. Pero ten en cuenta que flaquean las mecánicas, es bastante fácil y el juego apenas si te penaliza, por lo que si buscas un reto, este no es tu juego. Next.    … Expand

    This games story is really entertaining. I had so much fun and intrigue while playing it even if if you try to get the platinum trophy by collecting everything it gets a bit tedious in the end. I had an amazing time with this game.

    The games atmosphere and voice acting is really good. I did enjoy the main characters Noir taste even if his clothes made him look like a prick from the 30s,    This games story is really entertaining.     The graphics hold up amazingly well this game still looks very good and the main character model is just amazing to look at I cannot believe this game is almost 10 years old.

    A best and top game i believe, Ronan's personality (including his sense of humour) and figure connects the game real life to the player.     This game is like a little story book, it's good, there's mystery, suspense and sometimes a hint of terror when you have to destroy the demons. There are few puzzles and they are quite easy, not presenting any kind of difficult challenge to get through. You don't have any game achievements to get the collectibles, so you won't want to get the collectibles, mixing with the confusing scenario, where you don't know where to look and you've passed that place. I rate this game as a six, I liked the story but the rest sinned. It's a game to consider to pay in promotion.… Expand

    This game has flaws, that's undeniable, however, the premise is interesting to get you hooked. It has 2 big flaws however, the first being the "Combat" sections of the game, and the second being the couple skippable collectibles near the end of the game.

    All in all, it's a game that I hope can inspire someone else to work further into the things this game brings to the table.

    Preety nice story driven game. The gameplay is mediocre,nothing special,but not bad also. The thing that i didn't like is that the whole game is mix of blue a grayish colours. There's no too much visual quality,but overall, a nice game...

    the concept of this game is amazing in my opinion but it is way to short of a game. I enjoyed Murdered and the story, it was interesting and fun but it would last about 10hrs before you finish. If you have not played this game i would definitely recommend giving it a go as although short i think it is still a fun game

    Un gioco sicuramente particolare, anche se dal lato tecnico lascia un poco l'amaro in bocca. La storia riesce a intrattenere per le poche ore che servono per il completamento, la difficoltà è nulla così come la rigiocabilità. Può interessare anche per coloro che collezionano trofei.

    Murdered is a simple investigation game that promise you to never get you bored. It is short, but fun and pretty easy to finish, except the fights with the demons.
    The originality of the idea of being a ghost detective got me hooked on.

    Critics have been to harsh on this one, I'm not sure why. I didn't actually play the game, I watched a full longplay instead and it was very enjoyable. Much more enjoyable in fact than "get even" which somehow got better review.

    This game can't compete with 'Heavy Rain', a game older by 4 years than Murdered: Soul Suspect, gameplaywise nor storywise. So you should rather pick up the already mentioned Heavy Rain or 2014's 'Sherlock Holmes: Crime and Punishment', a game that actually lets you do the detective work on your own.

    It is a very underrated game for me.I was having fun with it.The atory is very mysterious and the investigation is fun.Despite the technical issues it is a good game it is a must play considering the price of the game.

    It's an OK game, nothing more. The concept of post-mortem investigation is interesting, the story is good, but skill development is non-existent and there should be more side missions. Overall, a decent alternative to Sherlock or LA.

Hablemos de los gráficos, los cuales para su época no son los mejores, y a parte tiene los famosos "dientes de cierra", los cuales son muy notables. Las texturas están bien, aunque los modelos faciales nuevamente para su época no son los mejores ni de cerca. La jugabilidad también es escasa y aburrida, los únicos enemigos para matar son una especie de demonios los cuales van a salir repetidas veces con una inteligencia artificial no muy buena. La manera de avanzar en la historia no es del todo divertida, aunque como dije antes siempre está esa curiosidad presente de saber que va a pasar, por más que en el fondo sepas que es una historia genérica. En pocas palabras el juego desarrollado por Airtight Games (estudio el cual lamentablemente cerró sus puertas) se vuelve aburrido y sobre todo REPETITIVO.… Expand

    Мне понравилась. Хороший детектив, интригующая сюжетная часть, развитие персонажей. Это именно, что классический детектив и нужно именно так к нему относиться, особого экшена тут нет.

    Similar to LA Noire. You play as a detective. Gameplay is pretty simple not really challenging. Story is very interesting and good. Investigations are pretty solid as well. Overall great game.

    This is a murder-mystery genre game that takes place in Salem, MA. They used the setting of Salem and the history of the witch trials well; both were very entwined with the story of the game. You find yourself murdered and come back as a ghost to solve the mystery of your death so you can move on, but as you go along investigating you find the case is a lot more complicated than originallyThis is a murder-mystery genre game that takes place in Salem, MA.     Gameplay consists of finding clues and piecing them together to figure out what happened at crime scenes. There is also limited platforming with your teleportation power and ‘combat’ against demons that requires you to hide in ghost auras before hitting the QTE to dispel them.

    The collectibles are a good portion of the story, Ronan’s background, his relationships with other characters, and how the other victims died, etc. So if you miss them, you will be missing out on a sizeable portion of the story. Except there’s a bit of a roadblock with collecting. On the one hand, many are pretty easy to find as long as you keep a lookout while traveling the streets of Salem and investigating buildings. But there are some things that are harder to see, and the problem is that there is no map with this game, which is the game’s biggest flaw. The town and buildings are decently sized in that many times you find yourself wishing to consult a map to know where you are, especially if you get turned around. The only way to get a map is to find people’s posts online where they compiled maps for each location and where the collectibles are located. Apparently a map was available for access through Square Enix’s site if you had pre-ordered the game, which is really dumb.

    Due to the developer, Airtight Games, firing employees prior to game launch and then completely shutting down one week after launch, the game had no chance for bug fixes or patches. The big one was your objective in the menu will inevitably get frozen (Leave Attic was mine) and will never change for the rest of the game. The objective will, however, still pop up in-game telling you what to do next at least. This is probably why we never got a map in-game as well.

    And due to the shortened development cycle, there are many noticeable cut corners. Such as side quest missions where you are supposed to help ghosts by finding clues about their death, there are four in-game, however you can clearly tell when coming across other ghosts that let you click on them (in the jail, in the graveyard, etc) and get one line of dialogue but nothing happens after that. They continue to stand there and tell you to go away. This, along with the re-use of character models and dialogue lines, really shows how development was cut short.

    That being said, the game is still worth a playthrough, the ending revelation is well done, didn’t see that twist coming. The beginning was a bit slow, but the game does eventually start picking up. However, you’ll probably want to get the game on sale.    … Expand

    Hands down the best B-movie type game I have ever played. There is something about Murdered that feels very unique and interesting, while at the same time maintaining a so bad it's good vibe. Would I recommend it? No clue, but I actually liked it... in some weird way.

After an extended play session, I've realised that at first, I didn't give the game a fair crack of the whip. This game is not the best game I've ever played, but it is certainly up there in terms of story. Granted, the game has flaws and maybe isn't the most visually appealing game by 2016 standards, but I appreciated the challenge and the storyline that was presented to me. Finding collectibles to the completionist is always a pretty mundane task, however, the vast majority were found in a normal play through before being mopped up through Youtube. The lack of a mini-map (or any map for that matter) was incredibly frustrating at first, however, this in-turn forced me to pay attention to my surroundings and learn what is a relatively small map. Gameplay was good, but I felt that the main selling point for this game was a gripping and sometimes emotional story that kept me hooked throughout. I'm in the process of completing the final mission, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and would encourage others to give it a try. It'll give around 5 hours of a highly engaging story, but far longer for the completionist. Disclaimer: It's a slow, methodical game that may not be for everyone!… Expand

So in case if some bug occurs saving of game you can loose all the progress of game and I faced to similar situations, when there was problem to continue game after loading autosaved game.
    Game mechanics could be a little better in some moments - picking up some items is possible only if you are in certain distance and angle of the object. However it is not a big problem usually.
    In a nutshell - I like concept of the game but implementation of it in some aspects could be better.    … Expand

    A fascinating failed experiment. I've only played it five years after release - it's pretty great for many reasons. It's surprisingly well acted, decent looking (though most level "filler areas" are quite drab), written alright, and quite interesting.     Это игра про полицейского, безопасность для которого является меньшей из проблем при расследовании преступлений. Ему нечего терять, ведь его любимую убили, ради которой он завязал в своё время с криминалом. Полицейским он стал, чтобы доказать брату своей девушки, что он исправился и достоин её руки. После её смерти им движет лишь одно желание - найти убийцу, попутно расследуя другие дела в надежде, что одно из них приблизит его к разгадке!
    Подобравшись слишком близко эмоции притупляют бдительность и это приводит к печальным последствиям - преступник, будучи намного сильнее физически, выбрасывает его из окна, далее стремительно, спустившись вниз на улицу, расстреливает, не оставляя ни единого шанса! Наш герой умирает, но душа его не может обрести покой, ведь дело ещё не закончено. Тут и начинается наша история… бом-бом, открывается альбом :)

    Нетрудно догадаться, что играть нам придётся за призрака, обладающего сверхъестественными способностями несвойственными простым людям, которые нам помогут докопаться до истины.

    К несчастью, низкий бюджет даёт о себе знать. Выражается это в бедности окружения; повторяющихся лицах патрульных; ненатурально хаотично бродящих людях по улицам, ощущающихся как будто они не живут, а именно ходят по заданному маршруту; в довольно посредственной графике; местами откровенно кривых анимациях лиц и движениях персонажей; и в наличии незначительного количества багов, в целом не мешающим прохождению - всё это не даёт поставить высокий балл такому интересному проекту, из которого можно было сделать конфетку, но увы :(

    Тем не менее, мне почему-то захотелось перепройти её, и забыв за несколько лет сюжет я проходил второй раз почти с тем же интересом, как и в первый раз, умудрившись даже залипнуть во время одного из расследований, долго не понимая, где оставшиеся улики и что же я упустил.

    Моя оценка: 6,5 из 10 - это нормальная оценка крепкому середнячку и если бы недочётов было меньше поставил бы 7.

    Кстати, эта игра мне принесла первую платину в далёком 2015 году!
    В нынешнем поколении с достижениями намного проще, чем было на PS3, где я ни одну игру так и не закомплитил, потому как либо было не интересно, либо шибко сложно, например, мой любимый MGS 4 нужно пройти минимум раз пять и там такие условия, что удивляешься, как вообще кто-то это сдюжил!
    На PS5 и Xbox Scarlet наверное вообще все достижения будут выпадать просто за прохождение игры, как за просмотр кинца от Telltale :)

    The game has a crime adventure ghost setting, where you have to unconver the truth of your own and other peoples deaths to free your soul and be released to afterlife. The storytelling is decent and leads you to the town of salem where you are hunting for suspects and leads to closing up the case. In that endeavour you will be helped by a medium that can communicate with ghosts. The plot itself combines supernatural elements and witchcraft into a unique blend of crime solving.

    After all the game can be mingled down to searching evidence and combining puzzles, there is also some action involved but that is really the minor part. Fighting takes place around 15 times in the game and I think you can even do it stealth only. The supernatural powers you have lets you manipulate things and also control animals which is well made. The places you discover are the town itself, a cementary, church, police station etc. and the atmosphere is outstandingly very well made. It has a consistant feeling of suspension, thrill and mystery while you unfold the killers motives.

    The visuals are well made, the same goes to the sound without being outstanding. Frame drops occured once in a while but it was barely noticeable and happened only 2-3 times in the whole playthrough. I think you ll manage to give it a full walk by 5 to 10hrs depending on your playstyle and whether you go for the achievement hunting which is heavily embedded in the game.

    If you are into crime-like adventures and/or bits of supernatural flavors this game can be a very tense but also chill experience to live through. I would definetely buy again. Had the luck to grab it for the nothingness of 1.99 in a sale but I think everything below 10 is way worth for this game. I highly suggest to give it a try.    … Expand

    I bought this game after seeing the mediocre scores since I like detective games. Unfortunately there's no sort of problem solving at all in this game. There's barely any gameplay at all really. 90% of the game is running around and finding collectibles which unless you want a platinum trophy is very much not worth the effort.     Fun detective style game by square enix. It is hard to stop once you get started, the game takes you through several cases, and it feels like it is shorter than it actually is, worth a try if you can get it on a sale.

But the plus of this game is its character, I like the protagonist and his rugged image and his rough personality, the rebellious Joy which will be your partner in crime in the story. This two is the main assets of the game and their interactions are good overall. The mini story too in each areas or stages are good too. A score of 6/10 will do.

    Gameplay - My question is...does this game even have gameplay?? well if i will describe it, it is a third person game of which all you will do is walk or run around the city of Salem and look for its many collectibles. The crime or murder scenes are dissapointing also considering that they arent even good. It is very easy and the evidence or clues are so obvious it is right in front of you that you will look and feel dumb you didnt even knew ot was that the first time around. I was not impressed with the running around in the area and how the ghostly powers of the protagonist are used in few places of the game, the fight scenes with the demons are so easy it is also bad and are very few. A poor score of 1/10 deserves this lazy effort.

    Graphics - This game is released in both current and last gen consoles and the differences between the two are not that noticeable and there are only a slight improvement found in terms of lighting. But overall, the graphics of this game are bad.Though i like the feel of the environment and also the character design of the cast of the games. Overall though, i was not impressed considering the trailers shown regarding this game are pretty good. A score of 3/10.

    Music and Sound - First is music, I dont like it and really felt out of place in the general feel of the game. It should be close to a horror style of music and not some ugly rap song which is included in the game. The voice acting of the characters are good though esp the main characters. I liked it. A score of 4/10 deserves this part.

    Overall Average = 3.5

    The game is pretty dissapointing overall considering that the cinematic trailers shown was good. You may consider it a budget game but for me, it deserves to be better and the developers showed just how lazy they can be.     Gameplay is non-existent, which is mainly frustrating because being a ghost could not have been more boring. Instead, much of the gameplay feels strangely unoriginal. Graphics are meh. Too many NPCs look the same, and have the same, boring quotes. It lacks a sense of humour as well. but also has no tension to make up for this.

    If you like a collecting stuff, of fancy something a bit different and boring, then Murdered Soul Suspect can provide the same minimalist satisfaction is provided me.    … Expand

    The price that i got this game for may have influenced my decision a little ($7.95 at a used games store) but even if i had payed more, i would have been happy. It isn't the best game (Lack of combat and a linear story do drag it into the mud a little) but it certainly isn't one of the worst games I've played.     Murdered: Soul Suspect is easily one of the most pleasant "surprises" for me in recent memory. If you love linear games and small scale exploration, you will absolutely enjoy it. While graphics are nothing special, it has a very enjoyable story, and the pacing is very well done.

Pritty average game not great not terrible, little on the short side around 10 hours I think, the game is pritty much a murder mystery game, get to the crime scene find the clues solve the problem continue on rinse repeat, I can't say to much or I'll ruin the game for some,there is way way to many collectables in this game and some of them are very very hard to find, particularly some of the drawings on the walls, which can be very boring after a while, over all it isn't a bad game IMO but not good either if that makes any sense, I couldn't recommend you to go and buy it to be far as there is far better games out there and that's just me being honest… Expand

    Gamplay - Does this game even have gameplay? personally, ALMOST NONE. You spend majority of your time walking and running and looking at half made ghost objects around the whole world of Salem. The powers you obtain are somewhat useful in some aspects but really, this gameplay is so bad. The fight with demons are so few and their AI are bunch of idiots. I dont really understand why'd a developer would release a game with this walking simulator like gameplay with an average and predictable if not bad story. The puzzles or the clues of various crime scenes are so obvious you will look stupid if you dont managed even solve it in your first try. Hell, making a mistake multiple times wont even give you any consequences. A bad bad bad gameplay for me. My worst score of 1 (I dont give 0s nor 10s since i believe there is no perfect game and there is also no perfect bad game).

    Graphics and Sound - Hm. Graphics are so last gen and the PS4/xbox one version was not that different nor improved from the PS3/xbox 360 version. The soundtrack was ok however few was used actually in game and the overall experience was like a lifeless journey to the end. Dissapointing. Ill give this game a score of 2 on the graphics and 5 on the soundtrack.

I have to say that the story is the strongest part of the game I really enjoyed it and I think everyone will love it who likes horror stories.

    The controls are good, but the gameplay is very plain. You have to fight demons but its just some QTE not real combat and its better to avoid fighting. You have to search different places in Salem for evidences and memories so in the end you can solve the mystery. The ending is really good.

    In the other hand the game is very easy and short, you can finish it in some hours. The game is fully linear the only challenge is to find every collectables in Salem.

    While I liked the graphics, Salem and the characters look really good, I have to admit that it isn’t next gen. But all in all the art style, the sounds and the music makes a very strong eerie atmosphere and this is why I loved this game. It could be made a very nice horror movie.

    Trophy collectors will love this game as you can get platinum trophy very easy and fast.

    There is a Limited Edition which comes with a very nice artbook that looks like a diay.

    I’m sure that you will love or hate Murdered Soul Suspect.

    As a game it fails in many level, its very short, very easy and linear and after finishing it, you wont go back to start again. From this perspective I would rate a game 6/10.

    But if I look at the story and play a game as an interactive movie (like Order 1886, or the Walking Dead games) it deserves a 8/10.

    The most underrated game I have ever played in my 16 years of gaming so far. The story is well done and the characters actually have some flavor. I can't believe the hate. This is a good game and story is engaging and gets you thinking unlike linear FPS campaigns with stale characters. Hats off to Square Enix & the former Airtight games.

If you are into this kind of game you'll want to see it to the end. But, after the credits quickly roll (this is a very short game) you'll never play it again.    … Expand

    The story is good and for a short game I was surprised by how fun it was to play, I like these mysterious kind of games so I enjoyed every single bit of it, and wanted to go on to find out who the mysterious killer was.
    For a short game it was worth the money (bought in on sale).

It’s a shame because with more open areas, the game could have done itself a favor. Nothing really new or different is brought to the table in Murdered and it’s quite disappointing.

    Graphically, Murdered looks just decent on next-gen consoles. On PS3 and 360, there are a few frame-rate issues, but mostly, the textures are just bland and uninspired. But then again, the feel and mood of the game is still relatively cool. You won’t find much attention to detail in Murdered, either. Character models are probably the strongest part in the graphics department, but even those look like a PS3 or 360 game. Don’t buy Murdered to show off your new hardware!

    The story is just okay and the characters are run of the mill. It’s also a very short game, clocking in at around 6 hours.     Bought this game during a sale and forgot I even had it. Finally decided to play it last night and I do NOT regret the buy. It was a very great game. The story line was great, your ghost abilities were really cool, and I loved the main characters. I do wish it had been longer but only cause I hate it ended. I got hooked and couldn't stop playing. Highly recommend this game.

    An amazing game with a great story to tell, also unbelievably buried by the critics, which maybe can tell you something about their reliability and their sympathy to "some companies". You have to play this game if you like investigating-murder games. Also check the gameplays are available on youtube, don't let yourself fooled by the critics. Definitely a 10/10 game.

    Unfortunately this very good starting point falls short in terms of execution, beside bad graphics (some PS3/360 games look better) and a semi-open world that lacks more side quest (I don't count collectibles as a side quest) the two main issues I have with this game are :
    1) No choices and consequences given to the player, for a 2014 AAA "detective" game it's unacceptable.
    2) It's way too easy, I had the platinum in my first playthrough in less than 10 hours, all the collectibles (collect things is the main part of the game length) are pretty obvious, you have to be dumb to fail the investigations, and the stealth phase will always allow you to hide back if you're detected.

    Thankfully the story is good, not great, enough for you wanting to see its conclusion. In conclusion what could have been an hidden gem lacking polish wasted its potential with a very unchallenging and linear experience, still worth a look if you find it cheap and want to try something new..    … Expand

    Its true that the game doesnt have any combat other then the demons that you have to get past from time to time. But this game doesnt need that, you are supposed to figure out your murder and other murders aswell, And thats done really well!!

    I also enjoyed the story alot, i love how you walked around and found story about the city, Ronan himself and his wife.

    This game is not a goty and not a masterpiece, but you know what? I spend a great time with it. This game has a personality and it's calm and measured. If tired from shooters or copypast horros and want to spend some evenings with chilling videogames - try this one.

Telltale games are even easier, shorter, much worst looking and getting only acclamations! Telltale Walking dead is great game, but this one is better. It's some strange mix between Telltale titles and Sherlock Holmes games with a lot of innovative additions. Shame IThere is absolute no reason for bad reviews of this game.     The gameplay first comes off as something new and exciting. As a ghost, you have abilities that no human has access to. Along with the standard abilities of walking through objects (that haven't been consecrated) and teleporting, you also have the skills of revealing ghostly essences and possessing people. Along with investigating the objects already apart there, you can use these abilities to draw out more clues unseen. By revealing the essence of ghostly objects, you unveil clues that are important to the investigation but are not currently there. Also, by possessing people, you are able to read their minds, or manipulate their thoughts to reveal what they know or make them carry out certain actions. All these abilities help you add more pieces to the puzzle, and it is your responsibility to then use all the evidence to draw a conclusion. The ghostly clues and the conclusion usually result in CSI-like flashbacks of what actually happened at the crime scene, which in turn moves the story forward. The gameplay is reminiscent of games like L.A. Noire, Heavy Rain, and even the Wolf Among Us. Unlike those games however, Soul Suspect's gameplay includes all the style of an investigation but none of the substance.

    When you're investigating an area, the gameplay comes down to simply examining all of the objects with button prompts. This can be difficult because not all of the objects that need to be examined have anything about them that stand out. However, the gameplay becomes lacking when you draw your conclusion. To do this, all of the clues you have are displayed in front of you and you need to pick the three most relevant clues that answer your question. You must choose the right ones to move forward, but the frustration comes when you realize that there's absolutely no consequence for picking the wrong clue. If you do this, the game tells you it's wrong and to pick another one. That's it. The same goes for when you use a clue to manipulate people. The story doesn't change or alter depending on your decisions or skills at putting together the pieces, meaning the story stays the same regardless of what you do. Sure, shows like Law and Order or CSI do the same thing, but that's not right for something that is supposed to be an interactive experience, especially when games like LA Noire have already done similar gameplay much better in the past.

    The same goes for the stealth gameplay against demons. Sneaking up behind demons to execute them can be somewhat fun, but it's too simple to be considered challenging. Also, since demons have little to do with the main plot, combat feels tacked on simply for the sake of adding combat.

    Even the limited interactions with the real environment feel cheap. Being able to mess with technology through poltergeists to cause distractions seems cool, but unless the piece of technology you're using is part of a scripted sequence, the humans in the area show zero reaction to it. In one part, I made a TV screen stop working and the man watching the TV did nothing.

    Overall, the gameplay's simplicity makes it a very hollow experience. That doesn't mean everything's bad. For example, the story is actually one of the best pieces, with truly shocking and gruesome moments that stand out. It even does a good job on playing off the already established history of the Salem Witch Trials. The story is interesting from beginning to end, which is ultimately kept my playing until the end.

    The environment of Salem is well done, with consecrated objects from the city's pass coming through in the real world. Along with the standard world objects, you'll see a lot of old ones as well. Salem itself is also littered with spirits, each with their own stories, and a few with questions that you can help solve through well done side quests. The city is also littered with many objects that you can use to learn the city's history, Ronan's own history, and the history of the relationship between him and his deceased wife, giving the story and character's context.

    Soul Suspect is confusing, not because of the mystery, but because of the obvious effort put into the story, characters and environment, but very little in the gameplay. In all honesty, instead of playing the game, you'll have just as much fun watching an entire Let's Play on YouTube. Don't waste your time with this title.    … Expand

    This game really surprised me. I hadn't heard much about it when it came in from Gamefly. I ended up loving the characters and storyline and really felt for the murder victims. The ghostly aspect of it is exciting and very scary at times. The game is very linear but there are a ton of pickups and side stories to track down along the way.     It is a good game and I like it but there could have been some improvements. The puzzles are a little to easy and you can't upgrade your powers to teleport farther or stuff like that. Over all it has been a good game and I haven't stopped liking it since the day I bought it.

I am very disappointed, and in my opinion, people who made such a bad game and try to sell it as the next ' best PS game' should be ashamed, not trying to make another one ( yeah quantum theory) just to squeeze more money out of it. It just seems like a lackluster attempt at putting action into a game not designed to have action. Not to say I wouldn't have enjoyed some action, but that wasn't the way to do it.

    I can't say there's much post-gameplay or replay value. It has no New Game Plus. The collecting quests were ok, but all in all I was unimpressed by the side-quests. Everything was easy, and nothing really felt that rewarding when it came to most of the game's peripheral activities.

    The voice acting and music were good, the graphics were good, the game took me probably under a dozen hours to beat completely. All in all, I felt a little disappointed, it was much shorter than I expected, the mystery wasn't that hard to figure out, the extras were the same boring extras every RPG has at the absolute minimum, the player has no influence on the ending or the overall outcome of the story. It's a very basic game.

    Let me reiterate, this game has one outcome, and everything is restrictive. Your experience in this game will not be like Heavy Rain or Beyond: 2Souls, one ending, an unchangeable mystery plot.     Hand on heart - this is one of those games that requires being picked up at your local store 'used' section, taking home and beating and then trading back in - think about it - for the amount you'll actually pay, its decent value for money entertainment for a couple of nights..

    The time,modern. The place,Salem,Massachusetts. I applaud them for picking a city rarely exploited in this media. The story is about a detective named Ronan O'Conner,who is hot on the trail of a serial killer known as The Bell Killer. As he closed in to close this case,he gets thrown out a window of a two-story building.slowly fighting to stay alive, The Bell Killer finishes him off with five shots to his body,ultimately ending his life. His spirit leaves his body,now in ghost form,and it's there he sees his recently dead wife Julia. As the light we all know we go to shines bright behind her,he is told he cannot pass on and unite with her again until he "takes care of his unfinished business",the thing that leaves him un restful till he finds resolution in himself. This is where the game begins,with you finding out who this Bell Killer is,and solving the murder of,well,you.

    Along his journey he will make an unlikely friend named Joy Foster,a psychic medium who can see ghosts and the spirit realm,and meet Abigail Williams,the first spirit he runs into after becoming once himself.you'll also meet some other characters through the story,such as a cop who's had a grudge with Ronan,Ronan's Brother-in-law,and all the spirits of Salem.each spirit Ronan encounters have things in their way also keeping them from passing over to the other side. You will help them find resolution to their conflicts through your detective work,ultimately finding out if you have what it takes to help them or not. The story here is really good.better than most,in fact. Some may argue that Ronan is a two-dimensional character,and some might not be able to empathize with him,but ultimately he's no stereotype.he was written for the role he is meant to play in,and his character reflects the things that Ronan can do in his position,giving us better believability to why or how Ronan is doing something. I'd say most critics expect some emotional tear dropping pathetic man or some other form of emotional variety,but I was very please with how he was written. Perfect for the part he plays in this game.

    The same can be said for the rest of the characters. They all play their parts and while no particular character stands out from the rest,the balance of archetypes here is well done. Again,if there's one thing this game does excellent,it's the story,keeping you guessing around every turn until the shocking end. So much story is here,in fact,that through collects else you find more insight to this rich world of Salem the developers created. Through news clippings,imprinted memories,random items(not that random since their story uses them mainly,but at first they are),plaques,pictures,and other things of that nature,you'll find information to better give you a sense of this worlds history,characters,and background.

    Ok,now on to the bad. The gameplay is average at best. It basically breaks down to two,maybe three major components. The first,is exploration. While cool to walk through objects and possess people,the town of Salem isn't big or open. It's basically a hub instead,serving as just a central point to move you from one level to the next,with little to do in between.what they did here to make this world seem bigger was they had parts of the town that were once there,now ghostly renditions of themselves,such as boats,buildings still set ablaze from a great fire,and so forth. You can't just pass through buildings,and you definitely can't pass through those ghostly remains,so what would take you a minute to reach now takes you 4,due to all the walking around these objects.

    The second is the detective mode,where you survey an area of interest and find clues to help you solve one big important question of your situation or two. While I have to admit I thought them harder than they actually were,there's no failing them. E only consequence to not getting the answer right the first time is your badge rating gets reduced. But the story will continue forward even when you pick every answer except the right one. But really,the questions aren't riddles,and neither are the answers. If you say to yourself "this clue cannot be directly what the question is referring to",then it is.

    And last is the combat.. I know there needs to be a way to fail in this game,but it's not even worth talking about. It's just a mechanic poorly done here.

    This game is definitely worth a rental simply cause there's no replay value in it and it's on the short side of things in length,but do not miss out on Soul Suspect. This is one story worth going through.    … Expand

It is a fun game, and I rate it an 8.5, I edged it to a 9 due to some of the bad user reviews on here that complaim about lack of aforementioned gameplay aspects. The problems with the game are 3 things: 1) it is too linear, it doesnt have any kind of branching like LA Noire does. It is also om the short side, took me around 9 or 10 hours to complete. And the final part of the game, if you are a completionist and want to do everything for a trophy, youll want to wait to do it until you complete ALL of the side stuff. You can 100% this in the first playthrough, but you wont be able to go back once you go to the final part, youll have to start a new save if yoi wanna do that stuff, which is just a glaring flaw, but one that at the same time is really small.… Expand

You know how in a game and there are all these hidden items you can collect? Whether that's your cup of tea or not, it's the core gameplay of Murdered Soul Suspect. You're going to be poking around...A LOT.

    The story in the game is compelling. Playing as the ghost of a detective (who is surprisingly likable) trying to solve your own murder is interesting. Weaving in the history of the Salem Witch Trials (since the game takes place in Salem) is an additional twist and actually works well with the story. The graphics are fine, and the controls good, but you do not need them to be very responsive. The game is very much focused on investigation (think a scaled down version of LA Noire)...and that is about it. If you are interested in the story (which I was) then you will enjoy this game. If you are looking for an action or adventure game, you will want to look elsewhere.

    I want to applaud Airtight Games or taking a chance on making this game. It is not perfect, but it was definitely different, with some great ideas and characters, but the execution was a bit lacking. Unfortunately, the studio closed about a month after the game was released which is just one more reason studios will be less likely to take a chance on unique/niche games.    … Expand

    The problem with most game reviewers and gamers today, is that if it doesn't explode and flash in your face every three seconds, it's considered sub-par. Long gone are the days of games which were slower paced, more thoughtful and engaging to a different kind of gaming audience. I really liked this game, plain and simple.     In my opinion, the video game was great. Sure, it wasn't the longest game, and it's no Outlast, but the story and the experience and the graphics, and so many other things to this game were outstanding to me. Maybe not the critics or the other users, but this game, by far, is one my favorites.

This game was announced a few years back with a whole lot of enthusiasm and anticipitation. What happened? Everything (else), apparently. Turns out that the novel, interesting concept of Ghost-Detective / La Noire scheme was a huge bomb.Boring, boring, boring.     PS. Even the disc ‘printed cover’ looked incredibly faded and lacked any intuitive design. It reminded me of my ‘copied’ or ‘modified’ Xbox and PS2 games…    … Expand

    The story was on par with most horror films, but for a game you need just a little more thrills to feel that the value in the 4 hour campaign is supported the by the demand the publisher & developer wanted at there $60.00 retail price. This is why it's getting mixed and negative reviews, if the game released at a $20.00 digital copy and $30.00 retail, it would have    Game was a solid 7.

    It's not that bad! The visuals are okay and the AI is buggy but at least they are trying to do something different. You're a ghost, you die (obviously) and you go around trying to figure out who killed you and sometimes you run into other ghosts or demons. Its okay, i liked it even though it wasn't that long and i had to restart my ps4 once because i got stuck in a door :)

    Excellent game a very interesting and compelling story. I kept me hooked and guessing to the end. Will play again to collect all the items . The concepts used in the game are great and there are some very nice touches. The combat is a bit weak but the story makes up for it . i hope they do more in this series with new characters to interact with .

    Ok, this game is pretty unique, I give it that. If you are looking for an action or an rpg look somewhere else, obviously. This is an adventure game where you go from place to place, look for clues, think and select relevant clues to the crime scene and has occasional stealth. It is a relaxing experience for anybody, with some spooky elements and interesting story and mechanics. Beware, itOk, this game is pretty unique, I give it that. If you are looking for an action or an rpg look somewhere else, obviously. This is an adventure game where you go from place to place, look for clues, think and select relevant clues to the crime scene and has occasional stealth. It is a relaxing experience for anybody, with some spooky elements and interesting story and mechanics. Beware, it is a console port with some bad decisions -like no manual saves and if you select by accident 'do not save the game' on the start - it will not be saved at all, I thought that option applied only to an initial save. In fact the game has only one save slot. Some mechanics are too scripted, like poltergeist - allowing you to influence technology, it is only spooking people when you are TOLD to use it. There some bugs and visual glitches, some puzzles are too easy. This features make the game worth about 7, but to me, due to the uniqueness and some strange appeal it is an 8. It is a special game, so beware you may end up hating it, but if if touches the right chord in you - you will love it.… Expand
