A furious and value stuffed effort, Mothergunship is one of the most exhilarating and satisfying shooters you can get on PS4 right now.

MOTHERGUNSHIP gives you everything you expect from a FPS Bullet hell. Which is to say that there are a lot of bullets, both to dodge and to fire. It is a frenetic and chaotic shooter with a great crafting system that makes the whole thing feel like LEGO had an angry baby with Doom.

It’s an unassuming shooter where the only complexity comes in making your own guns out of bits and bobs you find dotted around on Archivist ships. That provides just enough complexity to keep you moving forwards, while the rest of your grey matter’s simply enjoying the absurd onslaught each fight presents. Simple, effective, cha. Video game therapy has never been so explodey. Mothergunship is a funny, exciting and creative take on an otherwise simple premise.

An inspired new take on Doom style shooters, as seen through the prism of bullet hell shoot ‘em-ups and roguelikes.

But for a dash of repetition, both in gameplay after a long period and the slightly disappointing variety of enemies, Mothergunship is really a great game. The story takes a back seat to the gameplay, so if you’re looking for a story focused experience you’re in the wrong place. However if an FPS rogue-lite with gameplay in the vein of Quake and the ability to create a gun that shoots both lightning and floating grenades is your thing, you could do a lot worse than Mothergunship.

Mothergunship has lots of action, a good sense of humour and the best gun customisation we've ever seen. The uninspired enemy design lets it down a tad but there's still a lot of fun to be had from this roguish FPS.

Tight action, packed with more guns than Ted Nugent's home and a singular focus on turning the tables on bullet hell enemies makes Mothergunship a slick piece of high caliber fun.

Fast gunplay, likable characters, and its weapon crafting system work incredibly well when the difficulty doesn’t spike too hard and kill the pacing and framerate. It’s almost there in many respects which make the prospect of a sequel awfully alluring but it’s executed well enough to make it a good game in its own right.

When Mothergunship is firing on all cylinders, it's a satisfying and thrilling shooter where it really counts. With an incredibly fun and never uninteresting gun-crafting mechanic, it certainly goes a long way with its clever hook and an endless flow of enemies to gun down.

Mothergunship, together with the most noble productions, is the proof that the FPS of the past can re-propose itself maintaining the same "anger" and hyperactivity that distinguish them.

Putting together your own guns will provide you with hours of fun. After that you'll test your mettle against all sorts of alien scum in randomly generated levels which provides enough variety to last you quite a while. Overall, Mothergunship is a fine shooter with a couple of minor niggles; lack of force-feedback, cluttered menu's and the interruption of your flow when you need to recharge your weapon to mention a few.

MOTHERGUNSHIP is a great FPS with some laugh out loud dialogue and a deeply entertaining gun crafting mechanic. While the roguelike elements bring the game down, it’s still a delightful little game to fire up during the AAA summer drought.

When played in small bursts, Mothergunship has the potential to be an extremely amusing experience.

Mothergunship is a surprisingly entertaining game. The fast and intense combat feels rather unique, and it's impossible not to giggle like a school girl after building an excessively large lava spewing rocket launcher shotgun with an extra saw blade. Even though the graphics, level design and enemy variation could use a bit of work, it’s easy to forgive the problems and just enjoy some absurd shooting.

With some tweaking, Mothergunship could easily become a must-play. As it stands, only those with high-level twitch skills are going to have an enjoyable time. People like me might eventually get through the campaign, but I’m not sure I want to anymore.

The action of Mothergunship is fun and thrilling, like old school shooters, but also repetitive. Design your own weapons is a great incentive, but this game need more variety of enemies and rooms.

Mothergunship is a game that takes something from almost every genre. Classic FPS, roguelike and bullet hell are the main pillars of a title that, in spite of having some important flaws, is fun as hell.

Mothergunship is more than the sum of its disparate parts, and definitely deserves your time. It’s a big silly mix of destruction, synths, and sci-fi and a lot of fun to play through.

Mothergunship is Terrible Posture’s follow-up, and it creates a fantastic hook to fill that void.
