Mar 28, 2022The best, terrible game ever! This game has a lot of fun aspects to it and oh man, do i wish it was good. Unfortunately the thing holding Monark back is the combat. There are no random battles so you are expected to grind the stages you already beat for days just to acquire enough spirit to continue playing the game. That is a hell of a stain for a game that is otherwise fun and gorgeous.

May 7, 2022Monark is a tangled web of good ideas that could have become a good game, but end up being hidden under an awful execution. The combat system is the best part, but it fails by its excessive repetition and the story stuns the player by taking one of the worst possible directions and throwing away all it could have been.

Feb 24, 2022Monark might still become Lancarse’s low-budget JRPG golden goose in the long run, as there is plenty to work with here in terms of potential storylines and created assets, but as it stands – and based on its glaring issues – there’s very little reason to expect this quasi-dark school-based romp to achieve anything outside of its niche audience, even if I did find it to be oddly charming…..by the end.
