Hey all, it's your friendly neighborhood PS4 guy. Today we have a super special review! This harkens back to my first review for Gamer guysHey all, it's your friendly neighborhood PS4 guy. Today we have a super special review! This harkens back to my first review for Gamer guys and gals Kid Tripp! Coming at ya today is a boy and his dog with a challenge bigger then you'd imagine ahead of them.

Miles and kilo is a platformer with some runner stages mixed in, think Emeril Emeril largesse "BAM". ( if you're old enough to get this joke you likely will like this game.) M&K is rather simple at its core yet refines many things in its genre. This time around we have a story, Miles and Kilo were flying in there plane and end up crashing on the island. Now parts of the plan have been taken by the inhabitants The controls are tight and responsive. Much like its younger brother everything does feel like its all you when you clear a stage that was all you. When you die it was for sure your fault.

M&K is very much an evolution and successor to Kid Tripp. All the mechanics and design remain intact. Even down to the water skipping mechanic! (There's even a single segment that hints at this. Almost like Michael knew someone had talked about it.) What's new and refreshing is the boss stages, or rather boss runs. These are runner segments that incorporate ways to use the mechanics you have learned to there fullest. These are also super efffffffing hard mind you. Much like the 5 different worlds, this helps shake things up and keep you in it. Replacing unlimited rocks for fruit is a nice switch keeping you from relying to much on one tactic.

Yet again we have Chris Kukla on music. This isn't a new wave sound nor is this mind-blowing it is however simply chiptune at it's finest. The music allows for finding much-needed cues in runner levels and compliments the visuals making it all feel nostalgic. The last thing to go over here is this game highly speeds runnable due to its spot on harmonious design. The game even grades based on time and fruit as well as coins gathered. M&K is perfect in length and design to scratch a retro itch, same with the difficulty.

    Pros:
    It's retro at it's simplest l, platforming.

Everything about the design is just nice.

It just feels good to watch old school cutscenes and gameplay

    Very speed runnable

    Cons:
    Is super hard

    Can be buggy

Mechanics aren't always clear in how they work

With this all said I give this game a final rating of:
    8.0/10

M&K is a jolly good time that will remind you have after school days or early Saturday morning, add chocolate milk and some high caliber cartoons to complete the experience. If anything M&K will get you get in touch with your inner child. Take a minute to breath and take a break from the world for a moment and enjoy your Tripp...err trip.

    Miles and kilo
    endless Mario runner
Miles and kilo is the squel to kidd trip… this is a side scrolling 2d platformer where you play as miles and kilo trying to gather all of their plane parts after being stranded on a cursed island..
Youll have to go through 5 worlds, and take on each’s boss to do this
Miles and Kilo starts out pretty annoying with its control scheme…
playing playstation my whole life made it basically impossible for me to get used to jumpin with o and attacking and sliding with x
No matter how long I played this game, In this case 2 and a half hrs from start to finish… pressing circle to jump never stuck with me…
making the entire game a bit of a juggling act for me…
That aside.. miles and kilo offered an addictive one more try experience…
as it mixes elements of Mario and sonic together. As youll be platforming, collecting coins, hopping on bad guys heads, and during the miles and kilo sections, youll be in an endless runner type level using enemies to get from one spot to another…
and every level must be completed without dying… you get no checkpoints here.. which on paper sounds really difficult, but after 5 deaths youre givin the option to eat a fruit to give you invincibility…
you still have to deal with the platforming elements… but environmental hazards and enemies cant hurt you.. just getting you onto the next section of the game.. which I appreciate.. but at the same time it kid of breaks the game… sure less hair pulling.. but also less of an urge to actually try and beat a level for real if youre dangling a cheat code right in front of my face that guarantees to ease my stress…
where these fruits don’t exist though is in the boss battles.. these levels have to be beaten for real…
and sadly I feel as though the boss battles are the best and also the worst part of miles and kilo…
They kind of win best part by default because there is no fruit to save you.. you have to dodge the attacks and environments, stay on your toes making them addictive and thrilling to get through.. theyre also the worst because of how frustratingly unfair they feel….
Every boss battle here is a trail and error muscle memory game… its all about dying over and over until you don’t, a bit of luck and a bit of memory… which I don’t mind… this is what at the end of the day makes these levels so addicting.. but to do every boss battle in this fashion cheapens them, and just makes them something I started to dread instead of look forward to…
The miles and kilo series has a lot of potential, and I feel with balancing this invincible fruit to not be so powerful, and mixing the boss battles up a bit, this decent game could become something great
    I give Miles and Kilo
    a 6.5/10
