Очень нравится атмосфера, внутренний мир совка, но анимации, оружие, стрельба и враги в игре подобны дилдо, ужасные анимации, весь интерес играть пропадает.

I got sold to this game because of the graphics, I guess. But what a mistake this was. I'd rather roll around in sh*t than play this game again. The loading times are absolutely atrocious. Horrible gameplay. Bad sound. Characters get stuck in walls. It was simply a very bad experience overall and I'm not that hard to please. I have no clue why so many people like this game.

The game isn't too demanding on the computer. My computer, which has problems staying up with the newest releases often has problems, but I surprisingly had little problem playing it.

Then the controls. The controls are exactly like the previous metro games, which brings into my mind a certain nostalgia. Too bad I hated them in all of the metro games. The aiming feels awkward, the sensitivity too. It feels outdated and out of sync.
Then the gameplay. I don't like the open-world setting in this game, I think a guided tour like the previous ones would be more fitting. Half the time I don't know where to go and the other half I'm either walking through swamps or killing annoying enemies throughout the trip.

In conclusion, the game looks beautiful. The setting is great, the characters are mostly understandable, I like the Slavic accents, the world and the story is interesting, but the gameplay and controls are bad.

The level design also sucks. Items to interact with are indistinguishable from the background, as it all blends into a mix of metallic textures. It is also very hard to understand where you have to go or what to do and you WILL end up wasting minutes of gas mask filters just wandering around, which also has an impact on your ability to craft other things such as ammo, which is already scarse. This makes the whole gameplay loop a lot worse.

Movement is not very fluid in many cases you will hit something in the environment many times without realizing what is it, even with some "bosses", movement it very hard and will be frustrating sometimes. This was like a re-experience of a Dark Souls type journey and isn't strictly linear. Graphics are really good on PS4 Pro, frames good and consistent, only drops when zooming on certain moving objects. Enviroments are excellent. Still has a few game/immersion breaking bugs likes of enemies freezing. Movement and sensitivity is undoubtedly unsuitable but this can turn itself around as offering a more slower paced, tactical speed-restricter which can fit the atmosphere well. Voice acting is below average, there appears to be hit-reg problems but I think this is as a result of little bullet drop-off representation mechanics and appears as if bullets go straight through enemies. One of the top few best gunplay engines I've seen despite sensitivity issues. feels only months away from a flawless game. If it had released like this it would have had a phenomenal reception, very close to a masterpiece. Expand

All pc players have to do is install the epic games launcher, buy it at the same price, and install it. Now getting to the actual game I think it’s a solid 9 out of 10. Had a whole lot of fun with the game. From start to end it never gets boring. And for how short the game is, (you can compete it in one weekend). It manages to fit tons of content in without feeling forceful. I do wish it was a little longer though. The characters are realistic and make the game feel a lot less gloomy and pointless. All though there are parts of the game that make you feel hopeless. Someone keeps you going. Both your character Artyom, and you going. The ending is strong and impactful with some great twists. I like how the game rewards you for being a good person In general. I also love the combat and it feels great both outside and in the Metro. You’ll feel tension fighting both humans and mutants. When running out of ammo you can simply stab your enemy in the throat. The crafting system is a lot more fun than having the vendors from previous games. Overall I love this game and it still holds up more than a year later. The replay ability is not bad either. You may find your first play through slow and methodical and your second crazy and action pact. Regardless it’s fun either way you play it. In conclusion it’s clearly worthy of being called a metro game. It stays true to its previous titles while having a very different plot. Many improvements and not many new problems Expand

This game is great, lovely small open world, no hand holding, just a harsh post apocalyptic shooter with a few RPG elements.

The train makes the game really immersive, since you want to protect the crew and find ( spoiler) The weapons feel great, I loved the way the backpack works, you can upgrade any weapon and make small adjustments.

The graphics are some of the best on PS4. The atmosphere is breathtaking, terrifying surroundings, day night cycle, terrible humans who roam the world. Traps. Cannibals.

Metro Exodus was a game that pleasantly surprised me. I enjoyed Last Light on PS3 and was wanting to play Exodus for quite some time. Now that I've seen it through to the end, I can confidently say that although it struggles in some areas, Metro Exodus is pretty damn good. and it exceeded the expectations I had for it.

I was hoping that Exodus would eschew some of the rigidity in the controls from 2033 and Last Light, but it's still handles like its predecessors. There's an overall clunky stiffness to aiming and movement that is definitely off-putting at first and I searched the options menu for aim sensitivity options several times and couldn't find them, so I played the entire game on default sensitivity. Thankfully, my experience in Last Light allowed me to adapt quickly, but I can understand why newcomers would be put off.

Once you adjust to the controls, Exodus really draws you in. The Metro series has always provided a level of atmosphere and detail that most other shooters can't compete with, and it's no different here. Artyom and his entourage's harrowing journey to find their "promised land" is full of tender moments and brutal gut-punches in equal measure. I cared about what happened to my companions and was invested in their plight.

The Metro series likes players to take their time, and Exodus continues this tradition. To rush through the game is to deprive yourself of its charm. Whether you're listening to a casual conversation between a group of people, reading a journal, or having a tender moment alone with your wife, Exodus uses these small touches to flesh out its world and characters. Sometimes dialogue can drag on for what seems like ages, but I'd rather have the extra exposition than have the game suffer from a lack of it.

Gameplay is mostly a mix of exploration, scavenging, stealth, and combat. The world of Metro, now more open than ever, is rife with radiation, mutants, bandits, and different factions of survivors who may help or hinder you depending on how you treat them. Stealth is a key component, as it's far easier and more efficient to either avoid or silently dispatch foes than it is to loudly turn every potential threat into Swiss cheese. Light is an important stealth mechanic and you'll often finding yourself slowly extinguishing an enemy encampment of their visibility while quietly neutralizing them one by one. Exodus also has a full day-and-night cycle that can help or hinder you, as stealth is easier in the dark, but mutants are more plentiful.

Combat is an option, whether you prefer it or need to fall back on it, and there's plenty of weapons at your disposal that can be customized to your liking. Shooting can feel stiff, but it gets the job done. Even on normal difficulty, health is extremely limited and can only be restored by either using craftable medkits or sleeping, so it's important to not get careless or hasty.

Exodus has further systems that impact gameplay. You have a flashlight, but its battery must be periodically recharged via a portable power device. which takes a few seconds. Your gas mask is essential to entering areas saturated with radiation, but you only have so much air and need to replace filters every minute. Taking damage with your mask on also risks cracking it and necessitating repairs. Speaking of which, weapons will slowly become dirty over time and need to be cleaned at a workbench. Workbenches also allow you to customize your weapons and craft more ammo and equipment. Cleaning and crafting requires components that can be scavenged out in the field. All of this can seem overwhelming and cumbersome at first, but overall, I feel that the survival elements end up enhancing the experience rather than detracting from it and they help the game (and series) carve out a unique identity compared to other FPS games.

Complains are few, but important. Metro Exodus commits a cardinal FPS sin: At several points, you're forced into close encounters with heavily armored bullet sponge enemies and it immediately derails the entire flow of the game. Every mechanic and tactic that propels Exodus forward is thrown out the window and you're forced to sit behind cover and cheese the enemy until they die, using up most of your ammo in the process. It completely sucks you out of the immersion and proves to be an exercise in frustration. What possessed the developers to betray their design philosophy in favor of cheap difficulty spikes is beyond me, but it's bad.

I also had several instances where the silent takedown prompt didn't appear when close behind an enemy and I was spotted. Several times I was spotted by one person and he barely made a sound before I killed him, yet the entire area was put on alert. These occurrences are seldom, but they sour the experience. And while Exodus is beautiful, graphical glitches can leave you scratching your head.

Problems aside, Metro Exodus is a worthy addition to the series and a game I really enjoyed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Metro Exodus gets a lot right, but unfortunately it gets a lot more wrong. Let's start with graphics. The graphics didn't stun me like they stunned a lot of people (I'm running on a GTX 970 on a 1080p 27" monitor while the game was on Ultra), and at times it felt pretty bland. The textures are high in quality, but the design of enemies and environments is pretty bland. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. A post-apocalyptic world with lots to see, and it was very pretty to look at. The character design wasn't the best I've seen, but certainly not the worst either. Really just average, but for a franchise that typically boasts benchmarking I just don't see it.

The story seems very forces, particularly in the delivery of the characters and voice acting. The main character is fed up that no one else believes there's more to the world outside of Moscow and Metro. In true dreamer fashion, he can't be contained and continues to explore the world until he and his wife see a train. Bam, they aren't alone. He gets shot point blank, falls 20 feet, gets fallen on by two other corpses (who were shot and fell from the same distance), only to get back up, pop a medkit, and roll on out. The character drone on and on in no interesting fashion at all. They want you to complete side missions for them like grabbing a guitar and a doll for them. In other words, put yourself in "danger" and I'll make it worth your while with a gun upgrade or something.

Combat is nothing innovative. If you've played most modern day fps games, you'll slide right in. That's not a negative either. I found that the combat was pretty seamless and I enjoyed the rare times I got to shoot some people up. It's really stealth that leaves me scratching my head. Typical "crouch in a shadow and the AI wont see you" deal here. You can be right next to an enemy, and if you're crouched in stealth you're as good as shadow. I'd trade the stealth mechanic for more ammo and more enemies.

On another note, I had really thought there would be more mods for the game. Most all the mods I've seen have been reshades to make a pretty game look even prettier.

All in all, not impressed with my 20+ hours of the game.

Gotta love this. The graphics are beautiful. Lovely level design, especially Taiga, loved the idea of moving with the train through the four seasons. You have a lot to explore, but it can get a bit boring. Chapters are divided between exploring ( a lot), shooting and stealthy missions, or go full rambo if you want. Keep in mind that, like the previous games, it will affect your ending. Characters are not that interesting and the story, plot are a bit rushed but it didn't bothered me that much. I don't consider it the best of the trilogy, but it's a good game. It still has that feeling that kept me going until the end, the same feeling that i had on 2033 and last light. Expand

This game has by far the least action sequences of the previous Metro games. The animation of the characters and the dialogues are not good as it could be. The history is also weaker against the history of the previous games. The first act is fine, the second act (caspian desert) is not good, as its a directly call from mad max, and the third act is the best one (the forest and the metro). If you're a big fan of the game, I recommend it, but don't expect to be as surprised as the last games. If you're a survival genre gamer, you'll probably love this game. Expand

Good game, good story, suffers from pacing issues and a lot of performance issues, loading the game initially for example takes easily 3-5minutes.

This game's story is great, and a good sendoff to Artyom and the crew. The gameplay has some very solid elements, however some frustrating design choices make the experience less enjoyable. If this game had 5 more months of developement time it could have been a masterpiece.

Из минусов лишь оптимизация, которую патчами всё же пофиксили и сейчас всё работает отлично.

Let me start with the good:
Game has amazing aesthetics and realism. As someone who knows soviet era very well (I am from post-USSR country), game captures world design is very very realistic way, with nice extra details and interactions with NPCs too.
    Overall: well made design.
You can get a lot of story from just listening to npcs and in general, there is no much downtime as story picks fast and does not give you time to explore as everything feels urgent.
From technical side: dynamic coms dialogue system is amazing, more games should have this.
From maps side: By far the best open world map has been Taiga, very atmospheric especially at night.
Weapons: there is good variety of guns and makes play-style not boring, but I wish there were some non-lethal guns too.
Ending: there are 2 and I got the bad one. It is apparently NOT easy to get good ending. But I kinda feel like bad ending makes sense.

    Now the bad:
Movement: I don't like the clunky "moon gravity-like" jumps and movement.
30fps on PS5 is NOT acceptable.
In general I found no reason to have sort of quasi-open world as the game did. Linear game is perfect for this type of storytelling.
Glitches/bugs: overall very few but checking map in a drivable car in Caspian glitches the camera.

Maps: by far the "worst" map was Caspian. it is not pure bad but by comparison to other bioms/maps, I think this is the weakest.
Gunplay is overall good but there is pretty much no way to play this game in pure stealth. At least it was not obvious to me how.

Strangely there was almost no mission where the tracks were obscured by other trains and we had to remove it , something like that. I feel like game is giving a bit too much "deus ex machina".

And finally: compared to other metro games, there is almost no supernatural until the ending and just a little bit, maybe some see this as positive.

VERDICT: Good game, but weaker than 2033 and Last light for sure.

Updated my review after some more play time. The first section of the game doesnt do the game justice. I especially did not like the church by the lake and the first open areas you meet. But the game gets a lot better after you leave the first area with the train and winter turns to spring.
So if you're not liking the beginning, I suggest stick through the first part - it gets better.

Pretty enjoyable. It's not really an 8/10, but also isn't "mixed" as the 7/10 would suggest. Open world parts don't work that well (I didn't like the Caspian level at all), but when the game gets linear it's really really good. Basic but solid gameplay, good graphics, gripping story. Bit shorter than I'd like.

Saying that, it does suffer from noticeable input lag and the AI isn't the greatest.

Saying that, It is a very cinematic, atmospheric and story driven game and one of the very few games where friendly NPCs just feel so ''alive''. World building is incredible and manages to capture moments of sheer horror, comedy and fight for survival extremely well.
Although the game is relatively short, gameplay and settings are varied, and it is not padded out with annoying repetitive tasks found in other games like Far Cry etc.

I did genuinely struggle to warm up to the clunky movement and game mechanics to begin with so much so that I wasn't sure if I should just drop it. But, I persisted and I have to say that the overall gaming, visual experience, world immersion and story telling of the game were simply incredible. It's well worth sticking with it and getting used to it's nuances, just like it was with games like 'The Last of Us'.
In fact I'd go as far as to say this should be an unmissable title for anyone interested in high quality games. I can't wait for it's two DLCs and It's certainly a game I'll re-visit with the next console generation which should resolve the current technical limitations.

Metro Exodus picks up right after the events of Metro 2033 while this furthers the story the game is lack luster at best, while we do get a very much needed QOL improvement in the back pack allowing players to change Only their equipped weapons attachments something that the community has been requesting for Years now. Thats literally it. Everything else about the game is the same from the previous two installments unless you want to count a reskinned arrow launcher over hte first two games. While Im still going to try my damnedest to enjoy this game it has some major flaws that if it wasn't for these I would be rating much higher. I am referring to unskippable cut scenes and having spent the first 20minutes of the game either in a cut scene, stuck in some dialog or stuck in a room unable to move until these NPCs quit circle jerking each other which happened multiple times in just the first 20minutes of game play of which only a minute possibly two were spent actually playing the game having gotten up to go make food, use the facilities or other wise walk away from some boring conversation filler/fluff. This includes the "Hay Artoyms back lets let everyone give a high five" like we all just got done with a big bro fest *shutters as flash backs of high school ensue* This lazy mans attempt of caricature writing seems entirely to optimistic in a world that can only be defined as apocalyptic and dystopian living off of rats and pickled eggs yet were all smiling and not grown men battle hardened crying praying for green fields blue skies a wind without the bitter cold of nuclear radiation and the bitter taste of acid rain that would melt any amount of protective outer wear. Also the beginning seems well lets call it far fetched at best and absurd at worst see the hero returning only to be interrupted by his own people as if the events in the first two games either completely didn't happened or are just being ignored as they literally open fire on Artoym the very person that saved them all.

And while I havn't gotten to the point where I have Night Vision I can already assume that the same Night Vision Goggles affect exists in this game as it did in the previous incarnations where they all have this weird charging sound when you turn it on for god knows what reason, with the same limited visibility even in the dark having night vision that cant see past 10-15 meters in front of you is not how you do night vision all the while not showing light reflected or refracted off of surfaces like walls all you see is the source in this over overwhelmingly bright greenish white and gray hue, again im assuming that this yet another thing they havn't changed.

Lastly of course while im nit picking everything thats wrong lets not miss the fact that the game should be called Metro 22,000 as the half life of Plutonium 239 (The main element used in nuclear weapons) has a have life of 22,000Years+- I assume that 2033 or "The Years Following" were more catchy to a focus group?

Well at least from the references from this game I got the cannon ending in 2033, but not Last Light. So I have a massive major disconnect playing Artyom in Exodus. Well considering he blew himself to hell in Last Light. I have already gone through the emotional roller coaster of the death of Artyom in Last Light. It was epic and he went out like a boss.

The no kill in certain sections

Well considering he blew himself to hell in Last Light. I have already gone through the emotional roller coaster of the death of Artyom in Last Light. It was epic and he went out like a boss.

The no kill in certain sections or get a crap ending is total scripted BS. Why no kill? They will kill you as soon as you see you so FTS all is fair in love and war. Another BS move the developers pull very late game. You know all that grinding and exploring to the max? The developers take all your weapons and loot off you. Yeah its like restarting the game from scratch. FTS waste of time grinding the previous levels to max for nothing.

Ok what I was looking for was a Stalker game type of vibe. Open ended maps, freaky mutants, hostile factions, dangerous anomalies and environments. While using funky strange customization weaponry/gear to survive. I did want a more open exploration Metro game and I got one that met my general expectations. However this game also made me miss the actual Metro tunnel environment. I liked half of the levels/maps and disliked the other half.

The moral system is dumb and makes for a slow boring stealth game if going for the best of the two endings. The game looks and sounds great. As for the story ok and the VA passable to meh. Standing around listening to all the exposition dumps on the train was/is kind of boring. Woah they used to put all the exposition dumps in gameplay sections in the Metro Redux. The choice to still keep the protagonist silent in the main game was immersion breaking. For all the gameplay flaws Sam and the Two Colonels DLC prove that story wise a voiced character works out better to tell a story.

The scripted sequences and how they deal with the bosses human and monster are so unsatisfying. The boats are awful to use in one section, but thankfully I found I could navigate around that map on foot mostly. The gunplay is not the best and the combat when fighting monster types comes across as so cheap and amateurish.

Metros to my mind were never strong FPS games. It was all the other stuff that elevated the Metro 2033/Last Light experience. A tightly scripted linear experience is better for keeping the player focused constantly on the story and narrative. The ambience and atmosphere was amazing in those games. In this Metro the option to meander about poking around makes the story and narrative take a back seat to the exploration factor. Completing 2033/Last Light I have the richness of those memories to add to Exodus. So Metro Exodus is a weaker narrative experience without the first two games to flesh out the characters and world building. I have replayed this game twice and I probably will again. Very immersive game, but also very story cliche and full of old naff gaming tropes.

Sam Story DLC: The levels were small linear cut off areas. With the play time padded out by mines in a cheap lazy gimmicky way. Yeah more Exodus, but not better Exodus. Have fun getting stuck on the finicky environment and getting cheap shotted. Ending was ok I suppose, but the bosses human/monster were unsatisfying conclusions.

Two Colonels DLC: In the vein of old style Metro this new DLC should be good right? I just found the gameplay slow, clunky, finicky with cheap shot mechanics in very tight spaces. Very short chapter and so maybe just for uber fans.

Game is working fine now with the latest hot fix on PS4. Gun play is really good and atmosphere is impressive like the previous titles. I really think this game deserves at least an 8 Score(If the game were working better at launch, it would be at least 8.5). That's why I am giving an 10 for take the score higher. After that chapters are getting alot better and the chapter Dead City was great! The game was a bit short and i wish i had more story to it.

That is just the first half of the year too. The Metro Exodus is the one I was looking most forward out of all of these and for the most part it holds up. Exodus is the third entry of Artyom’s journey through the metro fighting mutants and bandits alike. Being that this is the third entry they had to turn it up to 11 with this game and take you completely out of the metro this time around; which was an excellent choice.

The story is a on the road type of apocalypse type of story or in this games case it is a on the rails journey due you travel through Russia via a train the whole game. The game also decided to take literally every single post apocalypse story and cram it into one game. We get the cannibals, religious cult, the baron of a wasteland who controls the gas, and the people who have been trapped in an area and are ignorant to any strangers. You get all that and more!! This does make the story more focused on the characters and their journey and not on any event that was happening unlike Last Light’s Soviet invasion. Artyom still doesn’t talk which truly hurts the scenes where you and Ana (his wife) are supposed to be having heartfelt moments which fall flat because he won’t respond to anything. The worst part of the story is the ending. The ending was cliché and anti-climatic which sucks for something that should be the last in the series of having a lack luster end game.

The game itself looks and plays great. They introduced this crafting mechanic that isn’t too complicated, but necessary if you want to survive. The crafting makes sense because it is the end of the world there wasn’t going to be any shops laying around for you to buy bullets. One mechanic they introduced I need to see in more games is their human AI. This AI is more tactical and won’t just sit there waiting to be killed they also do something no AI ever does and that is surrender. If you are a killing machine like myself the bandits will drop their guns in which point you can leave them, punch them, or my favorite do a knife execution. The shooting feels nice, but the limited type of guns available meant I really just use the same two throughout most of the story. This time around it is open world which works well with this game. I never did much exploring through the various worlds, so I assume there is much to see I just can’t say for sure.

Overall it was a good game my only issue is that I don’t know if it’s something that I’d ever go back to. I think that the story never hooked me, and I never ended up caring about the character while the gameplay was fun it wasn’t enough to leave me wanting more. I give this game a nice solid BARGAIN BIN.

Graphics are on par with a PS3 game, definitely not next-gen. The voice acting reminds me of a drunk friend impersonating a Russian person and had me chuckling and shaking my head for most of the early cutscenes. This was amplified by the poor writing. The ambient sound was pretty bad too, like the superfast pitter-patter sound of your footsteps.

Anyway, it was pretty obvious after an hour what I was in for, so deciding to remit this title back to Redbox. Really glad i didn't purchase this thing after seeing the cool trailers.

Metro Exodus of course has its drawbacks like sometimes weird shooting, not perfect animation etc. But all these minuses can be forgiven for just an atmosphere. We play videogames to jump into another world and to live there for a while. In terms of the above Metro Exodus works.

Metro Exodus is the third game in the series, and the first time to include elements like open-world, cinematic storytelling and non-winter terrain. So how is the game?

Well to get it out of the way, it is a good game. Elements it takes from the previous Metro games are still good, and sometimes even better. Unfortunately, there are also many elements that are new or revised which are not so good.

The Metro games have always been a Lineair Suvival Horror experience, which it is good at. What it is not so good at, is being a semi-open world. With the new larger maps that give the player more freedom comes the problem of slower pacing, chaotic pathfinding and confusion. The atmosphere of the apocalyptic tunnels and post-nuclear moscow is lost the moment the player enters these open maps, as the tension and well directed fear is lost. To describe this game the best, i will rate every chapter/map:

    Introduction in Moscow: (6/10)
This part of the game is meant to give a quick tutorial, but also sets up the story. Sadly, this part is not very strong. What makes Moscow interesting as a location, is that you will always be under the threat of radiation. It is your home, yet the story immediately leaves this very interesting location under the bases that there's a whole open world outside Moscow. This twist undermines the great stories of the previous games.

    The Volga (7/10):
This is where problems start to show. The freedom to explore a map rather than following a well directed path, is that the overall experience changes to something average without much tension. There's a mission in this map which locks you inside a large complex with only a single direction to go. There are mutants appearing, and it instantly feels familiar to the previous Metro games. Apart from this section however, it feels more like a standard open world FPS than a Metro game. The cultists are mostly NPC's that stand in your way, and offer no interesting challenge or backstory.

    The Bunker level (8/10):
This level embraces the lineair adrenaline fueled tension and atmosphere of the previous games, and it instantly makes it a far more enjoyable experience. You fight through dozens of cannibals to get to your precious Anna (which is nothing more than a damsel in distress in this game), and learn what happened to the government after the bombs dropped. Very cool mission. Sadly the AI was a bit dumb.

    The Caspian Sea (5/10):
Truth be told, it felt like a choir to get through this level. A desert area with a car, which feels like a Mad Max rip-off, has nothing remotely reminiscent to Metro games. The distances are too large, especially considering the car steers like **** The slaves are not interesting, and none of the Atmosphere from Nuclear Moscow is present here. There's one mission where you go underground while fending of spiders, which is enjoyable. But that's it. Very underwhelming level.

    Taiga (7/10):
This mission is far less open world than the previous missions, and it makes the game a whole lot better. The path is far more directed and lineair, which brings back some atmosphere and tension. Sadly though, the people in this area are not very intriguing, nor does the story care about them. It feels like just another stop to the actual destination.

    The Dead City (10/10:
Now this is Metro! Back is the Lineair Nuclear Winter atmosphere, the darkness, the cold, the radiation. The silence of a city that is even more radiated than Moscow brings a constant tension and immersion far better than event the previous games did. Familiar monsters like the Nosalises return, and new enemies are encountered that are interesting and frightening. Supernatural elements return in the way only Metro games can, and it makes for a level that is the best part of the game. I wish 4A games had made a game that only had levels like the Dead City.

Apart from all this, 4A games decided to change some things in favour of a more cinematic experience. Sadly, i think this was a bad decision. Climbing on ladders, looting enemies and opening doors now requires holding a button rather than tapping a button. Animations have been added that feel unnecessary and make the game slower rather than better. The bullet currency system is gone in favour of a crafting system, which is not as fun. Crafting on the go is a welcome addition however!

All in all you get my point. I feel like a more lineair game like the previous entries and The Dead City level would have made for an amazing game. Sadly, this game isn't it. But it is still a good game. I give this game a 7/10.

Let me start with that I’ve read all the Metro books&played all the games&I’d have to say that Metro Exodus is the weakest of the 3 games though it’s better than the book it’s based on (Metro 2035).As I’m sure many PC players have noticed,Exodus is trying very hard to copy the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series though it never really comes close&boy does it try.For the 1st time in the series itLet me start with that I’ve read all the Metro books&played all the games&I’d have to say that Metro Exodus is the weakest of the 3 games though it’s better than the book it’s based on (Metro 2035).As I’m sure many PC players have noticed,Exodus is trying very hard to copy the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series though it never really comes close&boy does it try.For the 1st time in the series it introduces an open-world concept that isn’t quite open-world.It’s successful in the wandering through an empty map but only serves a purpose of going between linear missions, from pt A to pt B.Which is highly ironic,it’s an ‘open-world’ game that’s trying to hide that it’s a completely linear game similar to the 1st 2 games. You can tell that the open-world part of the game was just shoe-horned in to meet today’s open-world expectation. No metro in Metro

As for the story,oh boy the story. In the 1st 2 games of the series you’d get a synopsis of the story&where you’re headed on the loading screen. In Exodus,it turns out this is all the story you’re going to get(not to mention the loading screens on PS4 could be upwards 8-10mins in places). The story here has really gone off the rails, pun intended. It simply doesn’t exist. The characters have huge exposition dumps,in the English dub, they actually talk over each other&it’s a mess of voices. They talk AT you so much that you don’t even care to listen. But the worst character of all is your good ol’ wife.Who NEVER shuts up!! I still don’t know what her purpose is;she’s completely useless&usually wanders off when you’re away so when you come back you find out that you have to go save her yet again(Unless you’re wandering the land like I was&fell into a hole nearly on top of her, triggering a story mission where she was passed out by herself.&what did she do when I found her?Start yabbering about how I saved her,&I’m her hero&hacking a lung.) Later on there was a doctor character(never gets a name)who you think is going to have a purpose within the story but you’d be wrong.Wifey takes care of that thought.Same with the govt leftovers in a bunker.Within the story, they tell you that all the radiation was a lie,but in game wandering around you’ll keep coming upon random patches of radiation as though it’s once again trying to be S.T.A.L.K.E.R.You constantly need to change your filter, but need crafting supplies to make them, not once does the game ever think you won’t be able to have these supplies on you.

Time doesn’t change for mission type.If you want to sneak in under cover of darkness, you better make sure you sleep b/c that’s all that determines day/night (there’s no setting dusk, dawn or anything in between). The game doesn’t set your time for the mission.I literally went into a mission that didn’t say until I was in it&already auto-saved,that we wanted to sneak in&it was still daylight. After unsuccessfully trying to get past the enemies in daylight about 20 times,I finally just sat there for 10mins real time for it to get dark before I could successfully complete the mission without having to kill every enemy in the area.

There are no longer any ammo pick-ups that existed in the 1st 2 games. Any&all ammo must be crafted&the crafting system is never really introduced or explained in-game.You have to play through half the first open-world level before you unlock a crafting table in the train. You know, the table you need for that ammo creation.Disclaimer:the only ammo you can create in the field is ball bearings, the worst type. &b/c there is no free ammo in the world, you will constantly run out due to the constantly spawning and re-spawning enemies in the open world.I had to melee so many enemies due to being out of ammo.

All modifications must be found in world.Where once there were traders that you could purchase gun attachments and weapons that suit your play style or the mission requirements, Exodus has no currency&there are no traders.Everything must be found in level or on enemies. The most baffling part is that this game doesn’t give you ammo from enemies. If you pick through the enemies afterwards you’ll get weapon attachments, which can have unlimited repeats.Once in a while you may be lucky enough to stumble onto ONE bullet in an enemies’ gun. Woohoo.
You have to switch your weapons so much due to each mission being different but you can only switch at the train which is always on the other side of the map&there is no fast travel option.&then you can’t use the best weapons for the mission b/c you won’t have any ammo&thus are relegated to using whichever has ammo available.

In conclusion,I don’t recommend this game.If you must try it then I would highly recommend renting it.Don’t buy it.Buy the Metro Redux bundle and play those.Remember the golden days of Metro, before 2035 came into existence

First of all, why are people complaining that the movements are cumbersome? You play as a Spartan, with heavy armor and a backpack full of gear. 4A games didn't want you running round the map like Master Chief or Soap McTavish, they wanted a boots on the ground, visceral, realistic experience. NOT a run round the map blasting everyone away like the Marine in DOOM, so please, stop complaining that movements are slow, it's made for some harrowing moments. Like seeing a group of Humanimals come your way and you turn and fire a shot and it whizzes past their head and you curse and reload that gun and then land a perfect shot, those are moments that must be felt in a post-apocalyptic environment. If you want a full action post-apocalypse to run round in then please, wait for RAGE 2. But if you want a solid adventure with a decent storyline and tense, heart in mouth moments, Metro is your thing, even without being a fan of the originals. I've completed Metro 2033 but didn't get around to Last Light even though I have the remasters, but Exodus is, as I said earlier, phenomenal. The gun play is great, the sneaking, and I don't usually have the patience for it, has been a smooth ride so far, the enemies are around enough to pose a threat but not too much to become an annoyance, the level design is perfect and the switch to open areas (I love scavenging) is amazing.
I did, however, encounter a common bug which prevents you from using workbenches that you need to use to upgrade, repair, switch loadouts etc while I was on the Caspian desert level, but when I completed the chapter the bug fixed and wasn't a problem. It was annoying as I had to fight with dirty weapons for a while, but it did fix. That's literally the only negative I have about Metro, other than that, it's been one hell of a journey. 9/10

Having played the first two in the series - I was fully prepared for the usual foibles of the game/engine: slightly clunky movement, and a 'boggy' feeling aim. The game so far has been quite brilliant, and enjoyable - a definite play for anyone familiar with the series.

Unfortunately, there are a couple of points, that really do knock the game down: Surround sound problems, and horrendous AI enemies. Let me expand:

Regarding the surround sound - the game seems to have some real issues with sound sent to the front speaker. For example, if you hear a gun fight in front of you - you head that way, only to discover that the sound was actually coming from behind! As turning around (after finding no such fight) results in the sound still coming out of the front speaker! Same goes for enemy voices and footsteps at times - I'm not sure if it's intermittent or not, but it's certainly not my setup (works fine on all other games!).

The enemy AI.... they are either completely stupid, or pinpoint deadly accurate. They also appear to have a sixth sense or something, as you could be hiding in complete darkness, picking their friends off silently; for them to all know exactly where you are! It really destroys immersion when the game does this, and there's no logic to it - I'm in the dark, NV goggles on, no laser pointer, silenced gun, and not seen by their torches - yet, they know exactly were I am!!

The open world side is welcome, I feel it adds a fair bit more to the game, being able to explorer and find resources, on that front, I miss the different bullet types; that added an nice little touch to the whole 'end of the world' thing - using poor metro-made ammo, vs lovely pre-bombs ammo.

Я бы поставил игре девятку, но оптимизация на консоли, просто ужасная. Просадки с 30 fps до 17-20, это не норма.

From the gameplay, I loved to stealth my way trough the enemy lines and get new upgrades what made me run from question mark to question mark.

Altough here lies also one of my critics, I wished that the question marks would be connected

Also the open level segments felt a bit empty, I know, post apocalypse, but still....

Having moved the action away from the dark tunnels of Moscow's underground onto a train, going into the unknown and forced to make stops throughout the journey, Metro Exodus' authors created a memorable interactive adventure consisting of happiness from discovering love and grief from irreplacebale loss, hope of better future and despair from understanding the truth. On top of that one might call Exodus a distorting mirror that reveals the most horrible sins of mysterious Russian soul: heresy and servilism.

Overall, Metro Exodus is an enjoyable shooter. Taking Metro out of the Metro is a good move for the series, but the game still provides plenty of claustrophobic locations for those who enjoyed the dark tunnel crawls of Metro games past. The ammunition system is still limited, but it feels better managed and more forgiving this time out, although I can still see it as being frustrating to some players. If you haven't played a Metro game before or were put off by the games in the past, give Metro Exodus a chance. You can catch this train running and enjoy the ride.
