Input lag in the controls make these games unplayable. Moving or shooting take almost 0.5 seconds to represent in the screen so you will be constantly dying by easy-to-avoid bullets and floor gaps. Unacceptable port.

I tried really hard to like this game. Being a hardcore Metal Slug gamer I can personally say that this is a pathetic port to come over from PS2 to PS4. I will say the intro gave me child hood vibes and was excited to get straight into the action. The biggest problem was the input lag. When starting up any Metal Slug game I noticed that the Neo-Geo boot up was slower than what it is meant to be. Starting the first mission i was so disappointed when moving, shooting, throwing grenades e.t.c every move you make is delayed by a big input lag. For needing to constantly dodge bullets and hazards it can become very frustrating when you just hit a bullet because of the input lag. Another complaint i will make is that this a port from the PS2 and not a remake. Wouldn't it have been nice to see wide screen support and possibly online play. Overall, Metal Slug Anthology PS4 is a very big disappointed and needs to either be updated to have very minimal input lag or completely remade so it can look more modern(The graphics in-game game are fine as they are old school arcade games). If you are looking to buy Metal Slug on PS4, I would not recommend Metal Slug Anthology Expand

I experienced the same issue with input lag like two other people reviewing the game. This is not acceptable in an arcade game which should be responsive as it was the case when played on arcade machine.

PLEASE STOP RIGHT HERE, the PS4 version of this game has severe INPUT LAG problems to the point of being UNPLAYABLE, if you don't belive me just do a search on the net. We are talking about half a second delay, which is unacceptable. The problem is especially noticeable in the first game but it never really goes away. My heart broke when my gf was playing with me and she kept falling because there was such a long delay between pressing the jump button and actually jumping so she would end up running down cliffs, I didn't have the heart to tell her "I'm sorry but this game is broken and I just wasted my money".

I actually agree with the guy who gave a 0 review, this game makes you feel robbed and it shouldn't be on the store.

    Ok, I feel cheated.

I bought a game on playstation 4. For playstation 4. I wasn't expect a remaster, with 3D graphics, new special effects or even a special content. I expected arcade experience, so the level I've got like 15 years ago on my Pentium 200. I LOVE Metal Slug. I was a score chaser. Knew every hidden secret, and every possibility to earn even more points. When I first sat

I LOVE Metal Slug. I was a score chaser. Knew every hidden secret, and every possibility to earn even more points. When I first sat to this collection, I lost four continues on first 3 stages of first game though. Controls are LAGGY. Like 1,5s lag between pressing a jump and jumping. In game when accuracy is everything it ruins not even the experience. It makes the game unplayable!

There is a review of this game (8/10) with bottom line "controls are responsive". What. The. **** Do we play different games? I payed the full price and I will not play it. Didn't finish even first game out of seven.

And it comes from Metal Slug Fan.

btw: I know there is a lot of biased reviews finished with 1/10 score. This isn't one of them. 1/10 for me is when the game is unplayable, and - for me - this game isn't playable at all.

This is a pretty fun collection of games. The only complaint I have with this version is it lags time to time. I don't know if it does the same when playing this one on PS2, but I would expect it to run better on PS4, especially if the Wii version runs pretty well without a lot of lag. Other than that, the games are great for the most part. My favorite Run and Gun Arcade series.

I have had the problem for whenever you highlight a different character, you get this 3 second long loading screen and it loaded the alternate routes midgame. The cons aside, i will encourage any person to pick up a metal slug game, specifically the anthology because you get more, sure the constant stuff you'll see, but if anything they minor nuisances that shouldn't drive you away from an extremely good and addictive franchise, especially since everything is pretty much in your control and every mistake is your own, from not immediately seeing the enemy bullet travel your way to jumping straight into a missle, very rarely will the game create situations you cannot avoid, very specifically a certain 3rd mission boss from the 6th game. This game have all unique ways of destroying your foes or buildings and unique enemies to boot. These games have a nice multiplayer experience and a challenging single player experience, pick this game up for a nice distraction and arcade experience and better than spending quarters at any metal slug machine. The unfortunate thing is the fact that this is a port of a ps2 version, so that means no metal slug XX, over all it's worth checking out at least. Expand

This port of the PS2 compilation is pretty solid. It features seven Metal Slug games with border and scanline display options. A colorful theme is also included. Other extras include plenty of artwork and music tracks. While other reviews have mentioned input lag, I haven't noticed any. The games themselves aren't arcade perfect, but they're pretty close. This is not your usual 1 star rant review. Input lag of nearly half a second makes this game literally unplayable! Don't get scammed as I have been.

Il primo capitolo della saga è un classico senza tempo, che ha fatto la storia degli arcade anni 90. Ottima collection.

You probably already heard about the input lag, and its real, and its bad, although it doesnt make the game unplayable.
However, while I understand this is an emulation of a PS2 game, when the PS2 game came out, the series was already 10 years old (25 at the time of this version's release), and there is a lot of slowdowns, loading times, and glitches.
Besides the poor emulation, the game

Besides the poor emulation, the game runs like is running from a DVD...when it isnt the case.
There are dozens of better ways to play these games, they are cheaper (or free), and have been available for decades.
Only reason why I would recommend to buy this collection is if you want the trophies, but good luck with that considering the input lag.

About the game themselves, they are classics, but they are from a different era, they were not made to be fair or balanced, they were made to take away your money at the arcades.
However, the pixel art and the charm they have is legendary, and the reason why they are still so beloved 20 years after the release of the last entry in the franchise.

In short, if you are a mega fan, buy it on a sale.
