For about a year before its release, I'd been tracking many of the news articles coming out in regards to both Ground Zeroes the The Phantom Pain. Much of the concepts looks as though, this was it and more. That did not happen due to GROSS NEGLIGENCE of management on the developer, Konami's part. First, the company allowed the MASSIVE budget to cover a project that was creatively too big for them to handle. Second, they used that shortcoming that put their financials in the red and forced the creator Hideo Kojima into closed work space and slashed the development of the game. Third, the company allowed the game's project to be shipped with only TWO THIRDS of it being completed. WHY?! Because all they cared about were profits and that's it. Little did they know, these actions would ruin their reputation as a game developer and as a creative media company.
So why am I telling you this?! Because it relates DIRECTLY to how the game ends. More like, it fully explains why there are more audio recordings in the game than cutscenes. Why Hideo Kojima's name is EVERYWHERE BUT THE BOX COVER. Ultimately, it will make the conclusion of the story make even more sense, so long as pay attention to the subtle messages being in the final cutscenes.
With that said, gameplay-wise Metal Gear Solid V is THE BEST STEALTH GAME EVER, incorporating all of the elements of previous entries and adding even more challenge to enemy AI, combat and overall presentation. If you grew up in the 80s, you will LOVE MGSV!! Along with the improvements to stealth and infiltration; there are many features adopted from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, such as the 3rd person aiming, mother base system and Weapons/Gadget Development and Metal Gear Online (Multiplayer, origally added in MGS3:Subsistance) All of these features ENHANCE the gameplay and add a TON of content to unlock and use. As a matter of fact, the team HAD to put in a ridiculous amount of filler missions in order to cover for the cut content of the game.
As for the story, everything goes right UNTIL the end, when you will steadily notice there are a LOT OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS AND SECTIONS LEFT OUT!! Regardless, the story remains explainable to be completely enjoyed, but most of you will notice some things that WILL NEVER BE ANSWERED if there are future titles.
As a wrap-up, MGSV is easily the most enjoyable to play in the MGS series. Gameplay is fun, dynamic and only gets old after doing the same side missions over and over again, JUST to unlock the next section. The story is EPIC and TRUE to its roots, but stumbles into audio files and vague cutscenes in order to explain the curtailed development of the game.
Some fans believe the final cut of the game was purely intentional of Hideo Kojima and was shown as a direct reflection of his feelings from his team's poor treatment (by the company) during development. I tend to include myself in that group and firmly believe the game is a great send off for him and his team and feel this was a masterpiece for what it was.… Expand
