On the positive side this game has that classic NIS graphical charm with very well drawn characters, cute and charming enemy design, and sometimes very clever dialogue. On the other hand this game also suffers the same flawed over complicated combat system, boring grinding sessions, and that dialogue I mentioned earlier I hope you like it because there is a metric skuntload of it. From playing this game and going back to what others say apparently all they care about are the characters and fan service. Which IS the best part of the game but when the other 60% of the game is a boring slog then I can not recommend this game to anyone who is not already a fan of the series. Expand

Megadimension Neptunia V-II is without a doubt one of the fun games I've played on the PS4. It's characters are the reason why this franchise still lives despite pushback from the West. The gameplay itself is fairly decent. A turn based battle system with a few twists in there to make it more interesting than the norm. A lot of the time you will be going through cutscenes of the lovable characters interacting with each other and that is a blast. Graphics is very anime styled. Music is okay. There are some good tracks but a lot fade into the background. Which is fine.

Overall this is a game any person with a PS4 should pick up and try. It may surprise you.

JRPG game as it core, it feels kind lifeless with never any good cutscenes, just text upon text upon text. The gameplay is fine, there is tons of different loots, but not that much loot that does any difference just some things that makes you change appearance. It is funny at times, and can also be difficult, requires some grinding.

If you've played the previous Neptunia games then little will surprise you in this game. Your favorite old characters are back and with greater detail than ever. I would recommend that anyone new to the Neptunia series go back and begin with Neptunia Rebirth 1.

Easily the best mechanics, easily the best story and easily the best DLC. Even BETTER, NOBUO FREAKING UEMATSU AND MOTHERFLIPPING EARTHBOUND PAPAS are involved in making said OST. You know, the guys who makes Final Fantasy tracks?

Compile Heart and Idea Factory really wanted to make this game a spectable and did everything they possibly could to make it possible. From the doomsday-esque setting, to the lovable Uzume, to the interesting three cour story structure and how the main villain plays into the dynamic. Not to mention the Dark CPUs, who could serve as easily the best kaiju enemies ever. BUY. THIS. GAME!

Uzume Tennoboshi a tomboy that is based on the SEGA Dreamcast console. (A personal favorite of mine.) and Umio a fish-man with a smooth voice, he's Uzume's partner in crime so to speak. They protect a new area known as the Zero dimension, an area that looks to be that of a ruined version of Planeptune (the main character's home). Its quite the adventure, and definitely worth a try for any JRPG fan.

My two-cents about the balance issues is that, certain sections when you are controlling just one CPU in a weakened state, make the monster encounters limited to a maximum of 3 instead of occasionally getting 6 which often leads to game over situations without the playing having any chance.

The characters are all well balanced, the new CPU Uzume has a really great personality and her voice actress did a great job - I really hope she'll show up in future games since she was just great. I'd still prefer the old Vert voice actress but the new one still does good enough job. The new Next-Form I think is under-utilized, whilst really cool looking.

Fan Service is more significant in Megadimension and I actually applaude IF for not censoring as much as they could have, especially bathing scenes and panty shots are alot more common than previous games. But still, its all fairly mild.

The story, now honestly - its very good, actually better than previous games and the different dimension arcs really do work quite well, this is something they should do more often in future games provided they have balance the game better.

The graphics are not really improved that much over Victory, just added graphic effects like Bloom for instance, I'm guessing Megadimension Neptunia VII could have also been released on PS3 in a cut-down state since it really doesn't do that much different from the previous games. Whilst I don't really have anything positive to say about the graphics, I don't really have anything negative either - its all passable.

The sound and music has obviously been recycled again, there really isn't any real need to add that much new music and effects, since it works fine with the setting, a few of the new music scores especially giant CPU battle music is awesome and fits the scene perfectly.

Alot of dungeons have been recycled so the layouts are nearly identical, a few new dungeons feel like they didn't really try, such as the throw-back to classic 3D dungeons without any textures just lined vectors and some of the golden summit dungeons can get annoying on the first play-thoughs. Even though there is alot of padding, recycled dungeons and textures, it still all works and feels comfortable but I would like to see a future game branch out even more.

I think this game can only truely be reviewed fairly once its been full completed with all endings unlocked before you can really be fair. This is certainly a game that grows on you with time, you'll have sad moments, frustrating moments and you'll have some fun and exciting moments too, and I was sad when I got the platinum trophy and knew - I had truly finished the game and enjoyed it.

It's enough to keep you playing if you're a fan, but some call the series a "rehashing, repetitive combat" RPG. I don't agree with the latter statement, because this newest Megadimension entry for the PS4 feels fresh, I just wish it had more content and the textures were a bit sharper. Also, I'm still not sure if the game does run at 60 FPS consistently or not, but I'll update back later along with other impressions of the game.

At least one of the dungeons was much too difficult through casual levelling and required going back to a previous one for grinding experience. I would like to see voice dialogue for all of the dialogue scenes. Many times you're left reading them without any voice acting. It seems completely random which ones are voiced. The humor and sarcasm is good. I would recommend it if you're looking for a decent turn-based RPG. Expand

    Let me tell you why.

The difficulty increase on this game is because the Japanese fans wanted more of a challenge from the Neptunia series because it has always been too easy in the past. You may encounter groups of monsters who are stronger than some boss monsters and at first it was a surprise, but if you fight them for a little bit until you manage to level up a level or two it's like a puzzle piece falling into place-- they're not nearly as difficult as they were when you first entered the area. Usually you can gauge how ready you are for an area's boss by how easily you can dispatch the wandering foes beforehand. If you can defeat the foot soldiers easily then you know you're looking good for the boss fight. Every fight requires you to think on your toes and act accordingly, if you don't do that then you can expect t have a hard time. If you do get beat up then flee back to base and heal up, maybe buy some health items and stat boosters, then come back and take the fight to the foes again. It all just requires a dose of classic RPG strategy. It's all designed very well for those willing to think smart during battle. If you're dying a lot all you have to do is grind, it is an RPG after all, that is what you do in them, but you never have to grind too much and I think that makes it easier in the long run. If you're the same level as the enemy it gets a lot easier but one level weaker and it will be tough, one level stronger and that enemy is nothing.

There are no more free heals. You can't jump out of the area, heal up automatically, then jump right back in. In MGNVII you have to eave the map and run back to your base camp to heal. This seems like a pain but it really does work out for the best. At your base camp you can also buy items and equipment. That means you know what you're going to need before you tackle the dungeon you may have just needed to flee from and you can buy things accordingly. Did you run into enemies that inflict poison or paralysis? Buy something for that. Need better weapons or armor? Buy something new. Sometimes, as you run through the map to get to your base or head to another area you'll run into a random encounter but, from what I've found, these encounters are always made up of the weakest enemies so they're not hard at all-- most enemies in random encounters can be killed with one hit. It's also worth mentioning that you can craft items that give you a bevvy of extra effects, like healing HP and SP after or during battle, or giving you various resistances to status effects and elements.

I've completed the game once and I'm already starting NG+. I never really had a hard time at any point of the game. Every so often I'd die in a boss fight but that just meant I needed to go grind a little. If my characters were weak and they got easily defeated it was my fault for not leveling, not the game's design being too hard. Spending a few tens of minutes in any area, defeating all the foes you can see, and boosting yourself a level or two is all it ever takes to make hard-as-nails enemies weaker than you. After which you flee the area, return to base to stock up on items, then run back to the area you were in to challenge the boss. Like I said random encounters are the easiest fight in the game, and it's not hard to avoid enemies in dungeons if you just need to skip to the boss. You just have to prepare and think smart in combat and this game will be just the right amount of challenge.

The story is the best it's ever been and Ive heard that sentiment from many fans. I can't really say much without spoiling it but just know that sometimes the story reaches 'novel game' levels. You will be spending time in story scenes a lot, but that's not a bad thing. If you didn't already know each character in the game represents a game console and that is all the set up you need. The story is funny, it makes fun of console wars with clever humor, and the fourth-wall breaking is cheeky. The story is never very heavy hearted but that doesn't mean it can't get dark at times. The music too is better than ever, recycled tracks are given a fresh new update and there are over 45 brand new tracks all better than the music that was already in the game.

In closing, the game DOES fluctuate between easy and hard quite frequently but that's just because each new area has stronger enemies, as it should. Prepare with plenty of items and grind when things look rough and soon you'll be on par if not too strong for that area-- it really does only take a level or two to get that strong in each new area. Think before you act in battle, consider your strengths and weaknesses in each encounter and you can win. Attack blindly and you're gonna have a bad time.

This really is the best in the series and if you're thinking of getting into the series you should start here.

There is entirely too much reading involved in this game, even though it is fully voiced-you will grow tired of the stupidity very quickly and you will be skipping through everything except the battles, which brings me to my next problem, it seems there is always one enemy just out of reach during battles and of course its usually the strongest of the group so you get sucker punched and lose a lot of HP before you ever throw the first punch. Of course later in the game you will encounter monsters who will kill your entire team with one strike and yes this happens a couple of times within the first two hours of gameplay.
Now you are wondering why I gave it a 7? well, when I'm not skipping stupid conversations about eating pudding and getting killed by one strike and having to start over from my last save, the game is fun, great artwork, controls are responsive and the voice work is better than average.

They preserve the lily system but this is no only limited to coupling the chars, we can increase the lily ranking with everyone this time, the game enhanced the F.skills and they plays an important tactical move in the battles.

The scout systems improved for sake of the game and play a really relevant role in the game to get items, unlock treasures, get plans and other items.

This game change how the story progress, it's not the typical flow of follow the events and pass to the next chapter, this time the game has 3 lines clearly separated, for the example in the G arc we can choose between the four goddesses and develop their story and we can use all chars at same time, if we choose Noire we can only use her and his sister.

The only factor holding this back is the lack of a proper progressive difficulty scaling which fluctuates all over the place. This makes the game feel too easy in regular skirmishes and additional new game +'s a bore despite the large playable roster.

The game play is just walking around a bland lifeless world occasionally getting into turn based style battle that are boring after ten minutes because there no strategy or evolution. The difficulty is,, get stuck!!! go back and replay the same missions over & over & over until your a high enough level. There no weapon or Armour that make a big difference to you damages.
Perhaps worst off all...sigh.....They re released a better looking more streamlined version of the same game a few months later!!!wtf!!. Ripping of the people who bought this game and expecting another $80 for the new version. I am done with the franchise and its publisher for pulling this. Their games are not that much to miss anyway, but getting scammed stings for a while. Even worse is there is VR content in the new version and I have a PSVR, but there no way i am spend over $120 to get a bit of VR content in a game that is utter crap.

They show an adult version of Neptune in a black outfit. Why couldn't they just give the cpus, Compa and If new clothes?

In the setting of every game released, this game is good but not excellent (a rating of 7.3 is a perfect justification) but don't let that put you off. If you are already familiar with Nep and her friends this game is the height of the Neptunia franchise!

it's filled with amazing references, 4th wall breaks and genuinely hilarious moments that if you're a Nep fan you'll love. The gameplay is also significantly better than any other installment. There is also some pretty challenging post-game content if you are a completionist. You'll also get a nice visual thank you gift at the end for finishing if that's your thing. All I can say is if you love the Nep, go get this one!

This game is meant to be enjoyed by fans of the series and the JRPG genre, but if you cannot stand large amounts of text and you love tons of action, this is not your game. Its approach to a more mature and complex story has been a success by Compile Heart.

Represents a strong step forward in a franchise that seemed all too content to stand in place. While I wish it went further with its parody than it ever really does, a sequel that doubles down on the good ideas introduced here could potentially lead to something great.

For fans of the previous games, Megadimension Neptunia VII pretty much offers more of the same but a little quicker and prettier. For those still not acquainted with the series however, whilst this is as good a time as any to jump in, the twee storyline full of fan service will probably present a barrier to completely enjoying it.
