    Now THIS is how you do a Collection properly!
    The versions of Mega Man Zero to Zero 4 are the NDS versions, which are the best ones out there because of the high quality the sound has.
    Localization here is GREAT, especially for Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent (The original Japanese songs are here!). And talking about those two games, it's great how they adapted them into a home console, and now    Now THIS is how you do a Collection properly!

    Now, Z Chaser is kinda meh... but at least is better and more fun than the X Challenge.
    The Galleries are good, you can still fight Z3 and Z4 bosses on ZX, the Z Cards to modify Z3 are here and the Reploid Remixes are a banger!
    The only bad thing: The Remastered Tracks for these games are sadly, not present. This was a missed oportunity to play these games even better...
    Anyway, this Collection is a Solid 10/10.

    The Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection is a steal for diehard Megaman fans. Through the six games, all of them are of high quality. The first game, Mega Man Zero 1, is a bit rickety due to questionable design choices, but the quality increases in later games, and peaks in Mega Man Zero 3.
    The most notable part of these games is the high difficulty that puts other games like Mega Man &    The Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection is a steal for diehard Megaman fans. Through the six games, all of them are of high quality. The first game, Mega Man Zero 1, is a bit rickety due to questionable design choices, but the quality increases in later games, and peaks in Mega Man Zero 3.
    The most notable part of these games is the high difficulty that puts other games like Mega Man & Bass to shame. Bosses start off having at least four times as much health as Zero, and the levels aren't merciful either. However, through playing the game you can find various items like sub tanks or cyber elves that make the game a bit easier. An aspect exclusive to Mega Man Zero 2 and 3 is that when you get a high rank by taking minimal damage, being fast, and killing many enemies, the game rewards you with extra skills. Though this incentive isn't in other games, you can still find similar rewards such as the transformations in the ZX games.
    The gameplay here is some of the smoothest in the franchise. All of the movement is identical to that of the Mega Man X series, but feels much more refreshing. By default, you have access to both the Z saber and a buster, but other weapons can be used, some of which can interact with the environment in unique ways. When playing through a level, there is often some sort of mission to do alongside finding and fighting the boss. This varies from rescuing people to destroying bombs and power generators. Though they aren't required, not completing a mission can drastically affect your score.
    The music in the games is more of a mixed bag. The sound chip of the GBA ruins some of the tunes, most notably in Mega Man Zero 4. While some are catchy even when put under these limitations, most of the tunes are better when listening to the remastered versions on CD. On the other hand, the soundtracks for Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent are of high quality, although the tunes aren't as memorable.
    Outside of the six games, there are some extras standard with a game collection. This includes a music player for all tracks including new remixes, a gallery for artwork and concept art, and most notably, the new Z Chaser mode. Z Chaser allows you to play through certain levels with all upgrades, where the goal is to finish the level as fast as possible. You can race against ghosts of various ranks, including the ghost of the current world record holder. The only flaw of this mode is that there are only two stages per game to play on.
    Overall, this is the best of the Megaman collections, and is a total steal at $30.    … Expand

    Mega Man Zero games are really amazing that is a MUST for every fan! I haven't had a chance to play these games back on gameboy so I'm really happy with the collection. Capcom did great delivering these games to PS4/XB1/Switch, with adding many options for the players such as filters, layouts and wallpapers. Z Chaser, the new mode is really challenging and fun to play but it's so short asMega Man Zero games are really amazing that is a MUST for every fan! I haven't had a chance to play these games back on gameboy so I'm really happy with the collection. Z Chaser, the new mode is really challenging and fun to play but it's so short as there are only two levels for each game and one secret level. The bonus for the collection is kind of disappointed. I can't deny that there are a huge number of arts and pictures in the gallery, but I found out that many arts included in the official artworks book weren't included in the game. Plus, the Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero [ RTRZ ] weren't included in the music player as well. RTRZ is really awesome and way better than the original, and it includes a well acted Japanese dub!. However, capcom didn't offer the option to switch between original and remastered soundtracks, instead, they offer 10 remixes that are a pre order bonus. This disappointed me the most. I really would like to play the games with RTRZ. The only way to play with RTRZ now is via modes on PC.
    If they included the RTRZ, then I would give the collection 10/10.    … Expand

    New powers, but only if you do good - In an incredibly baffling turn of events, Zero only learns new powers 'um actu-' I DON'T CARE THAT THEY ARE CALLED SKILLS. Anyway, Zero only learns new powers on the condition that the player performs incredibly    (Reviewing based on the games themselves and not the adaptation.) All 4 Zero entries are plagued 3 by major, gameplay ruining additions:

Anyway, Zero only learns new powers on the condition that the player performs incredibly well... too well, impossibly well. Odds are that the average person will be VERY behind that mark.
    Cyber Elves! Er, guess not... - You can use Cyber Elves to make the missions more bearable... but they lock you out of the previously mentioned perfection required to obtain new abilities. I mean, I guess its more likely to make use out of the quadruple health bar elves than it is plausible to get an A in these levels. Some Elves even grant you a guaranteed A rank, thus a guaranteed power, but they are VERY few.
    Study the maps like its a goddamn exam :/ - Instead of asking for skill or to learn a pattern, this game asks for memory. A lot of memory. It feels like there are up to thousands of mistakes that you, the player, are forced to make and then remember for next time. This sucks, and from my memory has always sucked in any game, ever.

    The worst part? These issues create a loop of dissatisfying gameplay. The level is difficult in unfair ways that you can't avoid without already making the severe mistake and remembering all 400 of them for next time > you can't use Cyber Elves because that will lock you out of powers > you can't get powers because you are expected to breeze through as though its easy > it isn't easy because of the reason at the start of this loop. That doesn't even mention the forced damage either! What a trainwreck of not just a game, but a series. Yes, they added stuff to make it easier, but these problems are rooted down to its core - to fix them, Zero series needs reworked, not re-released.

    As for ZX, its much more bearable due to the existence of Easy Mode. Unfair fall? Unavoidable damage? Want to simply have a safe environment to learn the game? Plain just don't like normal and hard difficulty? Got you covered with fall recovery, reduced damage received and boosted damage dealt! Also, powers are guaranteed again, FINALLY. Only issue is the exploration and navigation, gets very confusing without a better map from online, but you can get there.

    Out of 100, I gave a 0 for every Zero game, and 17 for each ZX game, giving this collection a 34/100.    … Expand

    As a fan of the Mega Man series, I am very pleased with this collection. The Zero games are some of the best games in the franchise and the ZX games, while debatably weaker, are still very interesting experiments, combining aspects of both Mega Man and Metroidvanias.

    Reviewing every game individually would be way too much, so instead, I'll give a brief overview of what you can expect to    As a fan of the Mega Man series, I am very pleased with this collection. The Zero games are some of the best games in the franchise and the ZX games, while debatably weaker, are still very interesting experiments, combining aspects of both Mega Man and Metroidvanias.

    Reviewing every game individually would be way too much, so instead, I'll give a brief overview of what you can expect to find in this collection and the overall quality of the games.

    As far as the Zero quadrology is concerned, they take place 100 years post-Mega Man X series and put you in control of Zero, who has finally awakened after his ending in X6. New characters and antagonists are introduced, and the overall story is much more complex than either the classics or even the X series, believe or not. What's most surprising about this, is that the story is actually a really good overarching narrative, with multiple reoccurring characters, plot threads, twists and turns, and a really strong, emotional, conclusion, featuring some of the most epic moments in the series.

    As far as the gameplay goes, there are multiple changes to the Mega Man formula as we know it, which makes the Zero games quite unique, like level-up systems, multiple weapons besides the buster and Z saber, mission structures, etc.

    Not all of these additions are executed the best, specifically in Zero 1, which has big grinding issues, but as the series goes on, it gets more streamlined and fun to play, culminating with Zero 3, which is best of them all as far as I see it since it has a really fun combat system and strong level design. I'm not kidding when I say that Zero 3 gets my vote for best Mega Man game ever made, it's that fun.

    Every game introduces some new aspects to shake up the gameplay and give it its own identity, so even tho they follow a formula, they don't get nearly as repetitive as the classic series. Some ideas are better than others, but all of the games are very replayable and fun to speedrun, thanks to their tight controls and short length.

    The ZX series pretty much continues where the Zero series left off, but with new characters and new additions to the formula that makes the game more of a Metroidvania than anything else. Not gonna lie tho, I've always been rather unimpressed with this series efforts in that regard, and I haven't gotten very far in them because of it. I know there are many who love them, but I'm sorry to say, I'm not one of them. Still, it's cool that they added them, and didn't do a separate collection, like with the other Legacy collections.

    Which brings me to the package as a whole. For 30 bucks, the value in this is incredible; 6 games for 5 dollars each is a steal, especially considering their quality, my own feelings towards ZX aside.

    If it was just that it'd already have been great, but the remastering process really makes the vibrant colors, smooth animations, and great sprite work of each game pop, and look great even on a big HD TV. Not that big on the graphic filters and borders tho, I think the games look the best in their original forms. And despite the fact that the music was made for the GBA and DS systems, they still sound really good, I mean, this is Mega Man we're talking about, of course the soundtracks are gonna be great.

    What really seals the deal, tho is the amount of extra content packed within this collection; an easy mode with new checkpoints for newcomers, since these games are rather tough, great HD concept art for every game, a list of all the great soundtracks which you can listen at any time, special cards unlocked through playing that add little details to the game's themselves, and a brand new online mode where you compete with other players to see who can finish a stage first, featuring leader boards.

    This is by far the best Legacy Collection made to date, it has a good price, a good chunk of content, 6 games, and it all comes in 1 neat little package, instead of 2. If ya haven't played these games yet, and are a Mega Man fan or a fan of platformers in general, there is no going wrong with this, it's a great collection through and through and I can't recommend it enough.    … Expand

    I went into this game series hearing great things about it and having loved the original and X series. I went in expecting the amazing gameplay of mega man x4 since this game series stars Zero. But the game plays poorly, has greatly inferior graphics to the SNES or PlayStation games, and is a let down in every way. I played every game on this collection and they all were mediocre orI went into this game series hearing great things about it and having loved the original and X series.     Best collection of mega man games ever! each one has some very different gameplay aspects to bring to the table and mega man z zero is as close to mega man legends as you can get for a gameboy game. Very complex and gripping games. the controls are suprisingly just as tight as i remember on the game-boy as well. defineitly worth buying!

    Great collection of games. The extra save feature is really nice, though it can actually get in the way sometimes. I'd forgotten how difficult these games can be but it's been a lot of fun so far.
