Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2

The Maverick Hunter X's adventures have been neatly compiled into one cohesive package. Whether this is your first or your eighth X game, there's still plenty of charm to be found in X's greatest hits.

The classic 2D and 3D platforming games are just as addictive as ever, and the new X Challenges bring a new set of trials for seasoned players to tackle. Newcomers are also welcome with the Rookie Hunter mode, making these collections the definitive way to experience the franchise.

Controls aside, this might be one of the first collections I’ve acquired in a long time where I’m almost compelled to finish every game.

A great collection of some of the hardest and most enjoyable titles in the past twenty years. The Mega Man X Legacy Collection features plenty of great content not just with the titles included but also the extra content that Capcom have lovingly packed into it.

All in all, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 is a must-buy, and I'd recommend skipping Collection 2. The first four Mega Man titles are good Mega Man games and remarkably good platformers in their own right. Anyone who remotely enjoys the Blue Bomber will get a lot of fun out of the games. The second half of the collection is, at best, of academic interest or for completionists. Die-hard fans will get a lot of fun out of the X Challenge feature, but for most people, the real value is going to be in the engaging first four games.

Two great retro packages. If you only want one, go for the first: like the Police Academy movies, the quality dips as the series progresses. [Issue#153, p.95]

Despite its uncomfortable format of sale and even thought many of its screen options don't adjust very well to most of its games, the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 are a pair of great compendiums that let us relive one of the most memorable sagas in Capcom's history. Fans of the X series will love the opportunity to play all of the titles in the franchise again, even those last ones weren't as memorable as their first entries were.

An excellent opportunity for discover, or remember, one of the most iconic videogames series. This collection emulates perfectly the enjoyment and challenge of the eight Mega Man X titles, from start to end.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 is an essential purchase for the ones that grew up playing with the Blue Bomber on their Super NES. The inclusion of X 7 and X8 is counterbalanced by a lot of extras and a slew of the best action platformers ever.

This is another retro collection that does an excellent job of preserving a classic franchise in an accessible form on current-gen platforms and is worth your attention whether you’re a long-time fan or someone who’s looking to get into the Mega Man X series for the first time.

A very welcome return for Capcom’s beloved mascot and a hope for a Sonic Mania-esque revival.

Parts of this legacy have aged horribly, but they’re still undeniably a piece of Mega Man X history.

There's really no stone left unturned with either Mega Man X Legacy Collection, making them perfect for longtime series fans or for gamers new to the Mega Man X formula.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 are must- plays for fans. With its new features, galleries, and tweaks, even total newcomers who have never experienced this groundbreaking series will feel welcome. A lot of love and care has been poured into this collection, allowing players of all skill levels to jump right in and enjoy. So get out there, dash and blast, and track down those mavericks, hunter.

If you are a fan of the Mega Man X series, then this new collection is a great way to own all your favorite games on one console. The X Challenge is a neat little extra, but is probably not worth a purchase for anyone who isn’t coming for the main games themselves.

Mega Man X Legacy 1 & 2 is a good bundle for newcomers to the IP thanks to its beginner mode, even if the first collection has a better finish than the second one. Mega Man is still a classic that every gamer must have in his or her library.

Although the latest entries in the franchise didn't exactly blow our minds up, Mega Man X Legacy Collection boasts at least four to five iconic platformers and some of the best in the genre. Despite a few nuances Capcom might actually patch up, this is a solid compilation we reccomend to nostalgic and new fans alike.

Put simply, the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 is one for the hardcore fan or completionist, while the first collection is a damn fine set of games regardless of how much of a Mega Fan you are.
