It's something very emotional for me. Dating back in 2000, the NES was still rocking the day and my brother just got the first PC with some of the first PC games for us, but there was something very intriguing that for me in the game Mega Man 3, that made me play all of the entries in the series. Not only did I pass all of the mainline series, but the entire spin offs and everything Mega Man. It was sad for 8 long years to see capcom let him what seems like - death? No, never. He rose from the ashes with this blast - Mega Man 11! The game sure is the blue-bomber in all it's glory, in fact it goes well beyond that. It's a fantastic package, provides something for absolutely everybody with re-playability value through the roof. One of the most important things is to go blindly your first run at least. The treat you will get from finding the boss weakness chain is unmatched in any other games, but Mega Man. Returning it to the original form made it a true shining in the darkness amidst so called spiritual-successors like Mighty No.9 that flopped. I am not saying there aren't games that are as awesome as 20XX, but those are quite rare to find, if any other. Capcom proved that they can achieve something so good, they put a lot of care for all you blue-bomber fans as well as gathering new audience. Go buy Mega Man 11, you owe it to yourself. The game's near perfection and never ever does it drop frame-rate!

All of you who grew up with the blue-bomber, you'll surely love it and if you find the voices irritating you can turn them off, but trust me that the voices are quite good and passionate for a Mega Man game(ahem Mega Man 8 I'm looking at you and your Dr. Wah-wee).

The moment you fire up the game and get to the menu it will feel just like the first time you've booted your NES cartridge! If you're like me and grew up with someone you lost on your side watching you play it, this will surely be a great moment and may even make you cry, so go show your support to this beauty that Capcom made and let's not let Mega Man die again!!

I've always been a fan of the Mega Man games. As much as I liked the last two installments, especially 10, I was disappointed with the 8-bit retro look. I wanted to see how the latest graphics portrayed Mega Man, and I was finally rewarded. Got to say that Mega Man 11 is one of my favorites in the series.

Story- Like most Mega Man games, the plot is pretty basic and doesn't matter that much. However, this is actually one of the more fleshed out ones. For the first time, we see into the past and origins of the rift between Mega Man's creator Dr. Light and the villainous Dr. Wily. It's a refreshingly unexpected bit of backstory.

Gameplay- So glad they brought back the power-up shot and slide abilities this time around. The newest thing about this game is the gear system, and it really adds something. The power gear allows you to increase your strength, including boss weapons, while the speed gear lets you slow everything around you. However, the abilities work for a limited time. Since a lot of this games works around having to slow things down, you probably won't be using the power gear that much except for boss battles. That having been said, the speed-based challenges are a real nice change of pace.

The robot master powers like in most MM games are a mixed back, some like the acid weapon, which is hard to work, aren't very useful, while others, like the wide range bounce and tundra abilities, will become your constant companions. I wished they'd done more with Rush the robot dog. We just get his two most common abilities, spring and jet, and nothing new. On the plus side, you get to use specific buttons to summon him rather than having to select him from the robot master powers.

They really updated the shop to fit the modern times. Used to be you could only get a few special items. Now you can really level Mega man up as the game progresses.

Like most Mega Man games, this is a short one. The levels are longer than past installments, I'll give MM11 that. Still, I missed the past games' attempts to evolve the challenges. There aren't any hidden items or paths you can search for. There aren't any attempts to add more levels than the robot master stages and Skull Castle, like MM3-MM6 and Mega Man & Bass did. I know it's a classic Mega Man feel, but I miss the ambition.

This can be one of the easiest or hardest Mega Man games in the series depending on the difficulty level. Some challenges are really, really hard. Since I was playing on the easiest level, I had unlimited lives and couldn't be killed by spikes or pits. I know this seems like no challenge at all, but I was still frustrated by parts. I fell into a pit a dozen times in the Block Man stage and the jumping mechanics in the Bounce Man stage are really frustrating.

Appearance- What I liked about Mega Man 7 and 8 is that they really upped the style. I was happy to see the natural progression in this game. These may be the best looking stages. The backgrounds have this cartoonish fun you don't see that often anymore and are just so detailed and fun. Be sure to check out the Blast Man stage, which is a blown up amusement park, and the Torch Man stage, which is a campground.

Instead of Mega Man just switching colors when he changes weapons, he'll switch between different looking helmets, and he looks a whole lot better for it.

Music/voice acting- Though I wouldn't say it's memorable, the music was good and keeps up the feel of past games. Voice acting is probably the most prolific here and definitely better than Mega Man 8, but that wasn't very hard to do considering how bad the VA was back then.

Conclusion- Okay, this doesn't do that much differently than the other games, but the gear system does make this a lot of fun to play.

Expand

It's very faithful to the older games. It looks cool, the gameplay is smooth and honestly the only bad points for me are 1) checkpoints: if you end up dying, it's likely that you'll go all the way back some minutes into the stage, and it can be actually frustrating in some stages and 2) the final boss, which is super easy even on hardest difficulty.

A good game, but it is was too short. There's like what, 10 levels. The levels capture the spirit of the classic Mega Man games (and I've played all of them) well. The music is a mixed bag. Some songs sound awesome, others sound forgettable. Overall, a definite 8/10 game.

An excellent modernization of the Mega Man series. I'm going to cut against the grain and say that the Double Gear system is one of the chief factors in the game being as strong of an update as it is - the gameplay's been tweaked so that using the Gear intelligently is necessary to deal gracefully with a large part of the game while still feeling unmistakably like the same classic jump-and-shoot fans have been enjoying for decades.
I also find myself enjoying the concessions to modern storytelling sensibilities in this installment, as small as most of them are. The story's still predominantly an excuse for a brace of bosses and platforming challenges -and wouldn't feel out of place in a Saturday morning cartoon show besides- but this one's as close to having any real substance as one has ever gotten and gives us some surprising meat on a few of the characters.
Some surprising thought has also gone into what the Robot Masters are this time around, and what their places would actually be within the setting. This leads to some really fun and surprisingly inventive stage concepts for the series, including a campground in the middle of a raging wildfire (complete with midboss fight against the camp's mascot) and a Universal Studios-esque theme park laced with pyrotechnic effects. Optional text blurbs about enemies and masters add even more setting details without intruding on the actual gameplay.
My one complaint about the game would be that it hasn't been quite as successful modernizing its older style of gameplay as recent throwback games like Shovel Knight - It insists on tying itself to an arbitrary lives system, which can sometimes destroy pacing. Being forced to rerun entire levels due to a run of bad luck near the end made sense as a form of enforced pacing when the size of games was relatively limited, but games have long outgrown the mechanic and it's distracting here - an ugly cumbersome appendix on an otherwise perfectly calibrated update to the series. Here's hoping Capcom continues to build on its advantage and we see a Mega Man 12 that puts this to shame.

LOOOOOOOVVVVVVEEE the Mega Man Series! The only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is the controls seem different than it predecessors. But that's probably because I played the older games so much that that's what I'm use too. Also didn't care too much for the soundtrack which is ussually the best part of any Mega man game.

The stages themselves are mostly fantastic, but Bounce Man's is unbearably annoying to get used to and the controls making it even worse. The story is okay, but the voice acting is abysmal, like Mighty No. 9 bad at times, to the point where you wonder why they had it in the first place, and it just doesn't work as well as it should.

If anything, a Mega Man Classic game in this style is fine, but it's also a reminder that we need to move on from that style a bit, because it's very nature in this day and age means it's going to be lacking in some regards. Releasing a Mega Man Classic style as an occasional side project is fine, but I'd rather have a game in the X, Mega Man Zero, or Legends style nay day of the week.

Still, for it's shortcomings and frustrations, this game can be a ton of fun, and that's the main point of any game, to be enjoyable. I just, think I would have enjoyed it more if it were called Mega Man X9 or god forbid, Mega Man Legends 3.

You would think that Capcom would have more respect for it's flagship mascot, but this was apparently a budget title and it shows pretty regularly. Oh right, the gear system, It's there I guess. I mean it comes in handy only about 9 or 10 times in the game, but I found myself trying not to use it most of the time. Also, the the final battle with Dr. Wily isn't even that memorable. I played it like back in 2018, but I can't even remember what it was. The whole game just seems forgettable and it makes me sad. If this is where the future of Mega Man games are headed, I think I'd rather go back to the games before it.

Clunky controls, knockback that makes me cringe... everytime I get hit down a pit... And there's ALOT of that going on, in *THIS* Megaman game...

Play the Megaman Legacy collections... They're much better, and funner... than THIS annoying PAIN: in the Blue Bomber.

A game designed for a select few, played by someone who isnt in that group.
Characters: Beautiful artistic design, as usual. But for what purpose?
Gameplay: Perfectly fine mechanics, but even those who enjoy MM games realize that you cant play these when you arent at 100%. Are you tired? Had a beer? Recovering from covid? Then you arent 100% and shouldnt play this. MM games are

MM games have been finely honed over the years.. to appeal to a select few. I dont see that audience growing, as opposed to other hardcore games like Dark Souls, Etrian Odyssey, etc. You simply cannot 'casually' play an MM game. There is no caution, no careful approach.. it forces you to play it on its level. And thats fine.. for a few. But lets face it. Mega Man sucks.

Boss characters: excellent design and diversity of weapons/attacks, both playing against them and obtaining their weapons. Quite possibly the most useful array of weapons since Mega Man 2.

Stages: terribly painful and brutal at times. Expect pixel-perfect alignment for necessary jumps and nigh-perfect timing for jumps, shots, etc. in ALL levels to avoid taking a HUGE amount of damage.

Difficulty Settings: even veteran players who have finished other Mega Man games will have a brutally difficult time on Normal. Newcomer makes the game playable but cheesily easy to defeat the bosses (but necessary in order to deal with the overwhelming number of times the player would normally die). Casual doesn't seem any less difficult that Normal, unfortunately, and gods help anyone who willingly chooses Hard mode.

Unless you really enjoy beating your head against a wall when playing through games on Normal mode, take a hard pass on this game. It will induce rage quits due to the shoddy mechanics necessary to pass through any given level on all modes.

Just another Megaman... A very plain one.
When i think about Megaman 8, i can still hear the music in my mind, or recall the clown level or the ice skate level, or remember the flying robot on the fortress. But this one is just... forgettable.
About the changes and new mechanics, i don't like the Gears system or how bolts are not collectible anymore but just coins. The only good thing

The only good thing about the game is that even on normal, this game is hard enough, that give you a good reason to upgrade and buy stuff. So that's a good change compared to Megaman 8.
In pretty much the whole playthrough all i could think was: Megaman is stuck, the structure feel dated, i don't want to play the same game again. Megaman needs an evolution, maybe a reboot. Let's make a good story for a change or more/longer bosses, or different types of levels, even a new fckng final Boss that is not yet again Dr.Willy-on-a-skull! Compared to other games of this genre, Megaman 11 feels old and barebone, Megaman can not even shoot upwards after all this decades...

No crucial changes, no revolution – that’s new Mega Man’s primary problem. It’s a really good platformer, but it lacks a spark, so I won’t try to make everyone I meet play it, like I did with Mega Man X. If you’re not passionate about the little blue robot, you can sit this one out. [12/2018, p.88]

This deftly made return to Mega Man revives the core series beyond being a novel retro throwback, giving it a gorgeous coat of fresh paint at the same time. [Issue#155, p.94]
